Congratulations Iris and hello to baby Elliott. Obviuosly all went well - so I'd like my happy labour vibes sent back to me now please.

I didn't manage a swim cos there was an aqua aerobics class on which I joined in with. Me and 15 x 70 yr old ladies! Was quite good though.

Then I had my mw appointment . BP is up again, I've also had a few headaches and lo is moving less. So I have to go in for monitoring again tomorrow morning. DH is going to come with me . Wish me luck.

Hi all

You've been busy chatting again!

CONGRATULATIONS Iris!! Wow - sounds like a great labour. Dying to hear more and see pics.

Silk, I'm sorry about the monitoring too. At least they are keeping an eye on you, though.

Loopy, I'd have eaten those choc tartlets too... YUM... I made a choc marble cake earlier and had a few slices (ahem).

Choudru/RG, I don't iron either. Shame on me. DH irons his own shirts. My clothes I manage to wear by hanging up carefully...

LOM, have made your moussaka today! it looks divine. Am about to freeze it.

I also made a chicken, pumpkin and chickpea casserole, Tunisian style, plus the above mentioned cake, walked to Tesco and came back overladen and barely coped, and cleaned out some cupboards. Am officially zonked. Just going to read tomorrow and meet a friend for coffee!

Take care all!

aikigypsy · 25/10/2007 19:54

Congratulations Iris!

Berry -- good luck with the move.

RG -- I don't know what's up with my apetite. Maybe it's the change in the weather, but for the past few days I've been back to my 1st trimester-type of constantly ravenous eating, at least during the day.

My DP is working today, which is nice for a change. I don't know if I'll still be doing my silly pointless t-shirt shop job next week. In the four hours I've been here today, have sold exactly 2 chocolates for a total of $1.70. Hardly worth it for the shop owners, I think. Winter is here, very suddenly.

One of the women in my local prenatal class went into the hospital today -- she was due two days ago. Probably has the baby in her arms already!

loving the hats Not so sure about the new site format

AnnainNZ · 25/10/2007 20:03

LOM - time difference is 12 hours until your clocks go back, then it's 13.

Silk - good luck with the monitoring, hope the bp settles down.

FCH - yeah the site has suddenly gone weird! I dont mind a bit of change tho. It keeps us on our toes! That site is fatal tho, isn't it? Be warned tho. I bought stuff from there and just assumed it wasn't available in the shops. Then i went to Asda and have found quite a bit of the stuff in there in their little green bags of sweets range, so check it out first. Asda even do flying saucers, dip dabs etc and as the site is a little pricey, check out locally first that you actually cant get the stuff before you order from them.

Silk - glad you enjoyed your aquaerobics! Sorry to hear about your BP and monitoring sitch. What a bummer! Still, at least DH will be with you so can both be bored together!

Loopy - so glad i'm not the only muppet who names her cars lol. Oooooo at lemon meringue pie!!! One of my faves!!

Choc - blimey, you've been busy today! I think you deserve to just stick your feet up tomorrow!

Aiki - I'm sure i've heard that during the first and last part of the third trimester your appetite does increase so maybe that's what's happening with you?

I was in WHSmith today buying the Gordon Ramsey cook book and when i got to the check out they were selling 1/2 price Terry's Chocolate Oranges. Well i was almost sold on the fact that they were there but then i saw...... O M G ......... Terry's toffee crunch chocolate oranges!!!!!!!! DP and I have been tucking in and they are absolutely GORGEOUS!! They've got little crunchie bits of toffee in them and it's just heavenly morish! You have been warned!!!

Oh and i've just ordered my BPIAB!! yay!!!

Congratulations Iris - I have put in an order for a sgort labour like yours, sounds like you had a really positive experience, and well done!!

Loopy and choudru - you have made me feel much better re cbeebies. I'm the same with DD - we watch together and I too am faced with a barrage of questions and comments, but I love it. Yesterday at dinner DD told DH that 'Pippin lost the sausage' (from Come Outside), DH was most confused! I had a pretty good night's sleep last night so felt much more active today so we made some cookies this afternoon which was a lot of fun, and they taste good too! DD has also been 'reading' to the bump which is so cute.

My DD says the iron is daddy's so that tells you just how much I do! When my grandmother was staying at my parents' house recently she ironed everything, even my dad's boxers! Before DD was born I went through a very odd phase of ironing all the sleepsuits, vests etc, needless to say that hasn't happened since!

Lizzie - like the marmite tip, though I'd have to add it without telling DH (doubt he'd notice anyway . I'd have put it in our veggie cottage pie tonight if I'd read this earlier.

Anna - I hope you're taking it easy - sounds like your husband is finding pregnancy hard work too, bless. My DH had to have a nap during labour last time, as he was getting tired !

Silk - good luck tomorrow x

iris66 · 25/10/2007 20:28

Wow - and I didn't even miss an episode of Eastenders But what's gone on with the site !!???! I can't see anything properly to catch up Thanks for all your congratulations though

Silkcushion - what you send you get back sevenfold so you'll get the happy labour vibes back tonight (good luck with the monitoring tomorrow btw)

Loopy- did you get that belt ok?

Berrybliss - good luck with the move and congrats on the all clear for the HB (DD was born at Dorchester not long after it opened )

Elliot's feeding well and sleeping loads so fingers crossed it'll stay that way. DS wouldn't even look at him when we got home but did give him a kiss goodnight which was so sweet it made my cry. I'm totally loved up at the mo (good hormones - I like these ) with my boys, and with the fantastic MWs who've helped me through my paranoid panics and delivered Elliot. Ahhhh need to go back and sniff. Been a busy couple of days. night all (will try to upload pix tomorrow)

Sorry - that should been anna

RGPargy · 26/10/2007 09:16

Iris - you sound like you're on such a high. So of you having your little fella around and you being able to sniff him. Congrats again!

You can revert the board to it's old look by going to the top of the page and clicking on "customise talk board" and then reverting back to Mumsnet Classic look.

JARM · 26/10/2007 10:32

im back on MN classic- the new one was HORRIBLE!

Well Ive been a little busy this morning, tidying and clearing.... and my new cot arrived this morning! DH is going to put it up later!

Off to the library in a few mins (waiting for DH to get back from the dump!) andto get DD1 a toy till the same as the one I bought for DD2's birthday as she is doing my head in and they keep fighting over it!

My dad is still here sorting the hallway so we can get it painted, we will get this house decorated!!!

Hope you all have a good day, will catch up with you later xxx

choudru · 26/10/2007 10:38

CONGRATULATIONS IRIS!!!! What a bouncing baby! I would be the apple of my MILs eye if I produced a baby weighing over 8lb!

Oooh - I thought I was getting less impatient about this birth but now little Elliot has brought me back to square one and I WANT MY BABY NOW! 39 weeks today.

Loopy - thanks for the breast pump tip. Do you think it would interfere with colostrum production or anything? If not, I might try it this afternoon...

Oh JARM, I'm almost as jealous of you as I am of Iris. The idea of living so close to the seafront sounds so lovely. Our flat in London overlooked the Thames (not the same as the sea I know!) and I never ever tired of staring dreamily out of the window. Used go jogging down the riverfront in the summer evenings and watch the sun setting over canary wharf. Lovely lovely memories...sigh...

Note to self: must drag LOM down to Leeds riverfront for evening jogs after LOs are born.

Silk - good luck with your BP. Maybe you need to take things easier now that you've cooked enough to feed an army!

RG - how rude of your friend to not offer you some snacks - you're pregnant for heaven's sake! My eating habits at the moment are almost pre-pregnancy. i.e. I can eat normal portions but don't need to snack as much inbetween.

Feeling rather smug today as I did a bit of a cooking session last night. Made shepherds pies and meat lasagnes - all packed away in foil trays in one person-sized portions. Was exhausted afterwards though and it made me miss Strictly Come Dancing

Am going to have a go at a salmon lasagne recipe I've seen as well with ricotta and spinach. Unless I manage to go into labour today of course.

LOM - my DH once made me tuna pasta bake and forgot to put any tuna in it. Think I would prefer fish finger sandwiches.

Better go, am meeting up with the girls from my antenatal class today - will be the first time they meet my DS. Hope he behaves!

How many births do you reckon we'll get this weekend? I say we should have 2. Hopefully one of them will be me.

littleoldme · 26/10/2007 10:58

Jarm - I'm back on classic too. What with everything else going on I can't cope with anymore change. Glad you are getting the house sorted.

Choudru - There's a good path by the water front in town. We could go rollerblading with the prams then hand Los over to the nannys and go and quaff cocktails in a swanky bar. Ahh if only...
Well done on the cooking - very impressed.

Easywriter · 26/10/2007 11:38

LOM and Choudru - Are you two for real? I'm so impressed if you are! If anyone is passing Sheffield and needs to loaf on a sofa in a post natal moment, my sofa is always available, cake will be served.
( This is why I'm such a heifer right?)

CONGRATULATIONS to Iris, Pink and Kate, it's all happening isn't it? Don't check in for a day at your peril! I hope you're all having a lovely time babymooning and I hope Sparkly's happy to have some company in the 'People with beautiful people' club!

Choudru - I know it's nearly lunchtime (I feel like I could eat SOMEBODY as we get near luchtime these days!) but that salmon lasagne sounds delightful. Can you freeze it? And can I have the recipe please?

Pixie - Sorry to hear about your mightmare with your mum. I hope she has a change of heart.

I'm off to do some more cleaning of plaster! (I love my life, what could possibly be better ).

Berry - I know you won't pick this up for a while but I hope the move is going smoothly and that the homebirth remains on the cards for you. Don't overdo things those, think supervisor not worker!!

Easywriter · 26/10/2007 11:39

Oooh! I see what you all mean about this being odd this new format. It's fine just to read (helpful even) but a bit banana's when you post.

Hey ho!
Vacuuming etc calls.

RGPargy · 26/10/2007 11:45

Jarm - are you at it again?? dont you EVER stop and stick your feet up?!! I'm beginning to think you're not human!

Choudru - yeah i was a bit peed off but i would have felt more awkward asking for something to eat and her saying "no sorry mate, i've got nothing spare". Thing is, i've not been hungry during the day lately, except for when i went round to her house and suddenly yesterday and today i seem to be on a grazing thing again. I wonder if it's because i've only got 4 weeks and 4 days left? (not that i'm counting ) Well done on the cooking! Ooooo foil trays - that's a good idea! I'd not thought of that. What a dingbat i am! I might get some today and then make another lasagne while DP is working all night (literally!) and then freeze it.

The highlight of my day today is going to buy a new wireless router and get my sodding wireless network working again. What fun!

silkcushion · 26/10/2007 11:56

Hello - a quick post with update after hospital visit. Bp is a bit high but not awful. Urine is fine. Baby heart monitoring was ok - she is not moving much cos she is lazy. Must take after her mum . The heart monitoring thing also traces uterine contractions and it showed one whilst I was there. V exciting but it was probably just a braxton hicks one. Also had a scan - didn't know they would do that. Baby is 6lb 90z at the moment 38+2 so fairly standard size.

Must go out now as cleaner is coming and it feels v wrong to be here whilst she is working. Am off to the recycling tip with the knackered old ironing board, then going to collect the pottery painting we did on monday. Always exciting to see it once it's out of the kiln.

I'll check in later to see who has produced (babies or lasagnes)

ChocolateHobnob · 26/10/2007 11:58

Hi all

Jarm - you are hyper! So am I at the mo I must confess - been cleaning and cooking all morning so far.

RG, I'm permanently hungry and feel sick if I don't eat.

Easywriter, I'll loaf with you! I am loafing in between frantic activity.

Choudru, can I have that salmon lasagne recipe too?? It sounds delish. So far my freezer has meat lasagne, bolognaise, veggie chilli, veggie moussaka, pastistio, and chicken and pumpkin and chickpea stew.

I'm using those foil trays too... am on shepherds pie at the mo. Have taken Loopy's tip and am making a topping with sweet and normal potato...

Off for coffee this afternoon with Alicet from the October thread - her lo is now 3 weeks old! Dying to coo!

Have a good day everyone and thinking of you Silk!

ChocolateHobnob · 26/10/2007 12:00

Hi Silk- we crossed! Great news, am really glad you're home again.

Laughing at the idea of lo being lazy 'like her mum' - you're not lazy!

Ooh it's all getting so real!

JARM · 26/10/2007 12:14

I am resting in between! Just getting all over-excited!

Been to town and to the library, and now sitting on my arse wondering when DH is going to make my lunch because I AM STARVING!!

Not overly hungry in the mornings at the moemnt, but lunchtime onwards I dont stop eating!

Still no wispas.....grrrr! Maybe Im not looking hard enough!

Am very sore in the pelvis area today, am needing to rest up this afternoon I think, before I start sorting baby clothes and the cot!!!

littleoldme · 26/10/2007 12:14

Easy - I dare say we may meet sometime. My Mum and SDad live in Chesterfield so I'm often over that way. I think we are only serious about the quaffing cocktails bit Seriously though, I can't wait to be more active again.

Silk - Great news that all is well.

RG Sounds like you need to carry an emergency banana.

Choc - I'm the same as you,I graze constantly. Lately I'm waking up hungry in the night too. Happy cooing.

i was sorting through the clothes we've been given. Evryone has been so generous. We have 38 vests and 42 sleep suits - I think that maybe enough. That's just in newborn, I haven't even looked at the 0-3 yet
