hi all - sorry I've not caught up but just a quickie in between rather painful BHs(contractions?!)to update . I spent much of the afternoon in hosp being monitored (LO mega quiet after all the vomming last night & then had v watery brown discharge (sorry if TMI) so was a bit concerned. MW reckons hindwaters & I'm 3cm dilated They want me in tomorrow at 8 for induction (wanted to keep me in tonight but I couldn't face it and they weren't going to do anything to me so figured it a non-issue) Hoping to have it all done and dusted before the induction so stomping up & down stairs a lot. Feeling Very ready to pop!!. Here goes girls pain free and quick labour vibes this way please! back soon iris x

sarahloumadam · 23/10/2007 20:51

Oooh - good luck Iris! x

aikigypsy · 23/10/2007 20:51

I don't think I've ever made lasagne . How has that happened?

Sparkly -- that's great news on Calum's weight gain.

We met the pediatrician today, and I had my weekly checkup. Everything looks fine, and the pediatrician seems competent, which is a very good thing. The weather here continues gorgeous. Midwife said that I should hold off another couple of weeks on going into labour because they are very, very busy in the maternity ward at the moment. It's a small hospital, with just two labour&delivery rooms, 2-3 recovery rooms, and one midwife, one obstetcian, plus all the nurses. I keep saying that I feel like the baby is dropping, but I don't think she really has yet. At least, I'm not waddling.

sarahloumadam · 23/10/2007 20:51

And good for you not staying in over night!

aikigypsy · 23/10/2007 20:53

x-post.

Good luck Iris!!!

JARM · 23/10/2007 20:55

iris-Good luck for tomo!!!

worrymummy · 23/10/2007 21:33

hi all,

have not posted for ages or very much, but it is nice to read about all the november bumps.
Mine is due 27th november as well and another surprise. On maternity leave now (well half term then mat leave starts) so hopefully will have more time to join in the chat and get ready.
I have not even had a chance to fully realise that i'm having another baby, never mind buying important stuff something for baby to sleep on!
also have a (on friday) 2 year old ds who is a typical boy when it comes to shopping!
Anyway please add me to the list if poss and I'll try to keep up with all your news..

good luck everyone,

wmxx

Good evening all. I haven't caught up from the past few days yet, but wanted to let you know our baby boy has arrived! James surprised us by arriving nearly 3 weeks early- born 4:26am on Sunday 21/10, weighing 6lb5oz. He is just the sweetest thing and DDs are thrilled to have him home.

The birth was straightforward- starting to have some cramps around midnight Sunday, but thought it was from bending over trying to put together a flatpack bookshelf. Must have been the frustration that brought on labor. After about 1/2 hr figured it was maybe the beginning of labor. Tried to rest, but couldn't, so took a bath. Contractions were getting to be about 5-8min apart, but still not terrible, and decided to wake up DH. All of a sudden contractions started coming just a couple of minutes apart and became really intense. Got to the hospital a little after 3:30 and DS was born within the hour! I wasn't planning specifically for a natural birth, but by the time the midwife monitored the baby, put in the IVtube (I'm a vbac. And she was SLOW), and examined me, I was already fully dilated and she said the head and bag of waters was 'right there'. So, G&A and a few pushes (second births so much easier) and our beautiful baby is here .

Good luck to those scheduled for this week!

Two pieces of advice 1)pack those bags, ladies...you never know and 2)use my DH as a cautionary tale. He went out to the pub Sat to watch the World Cup. When I told him,'Don't drink too much, you never know if tonight is the night' he rolled his eyes and laughed saying,'we have 3 more weeks!' Was he ever sorry when he had to haul out of bed to go to hospital and then take care of DDs by himself the next day! I still don't think he's recovered .

JARM · 23/10/2007 22:08

OMG!!! Congrats Pink and kate!!

3 boys and 1 girl already and we arent even in November yet!!!

Oh wow! two more babies and I only logged off at lunchtime!! Many many congrats to you both and good luck to Iris. please post piccies - I'm probably not the only one getting very maternal now.

Many thanks to all for your sympathies over my PILs - DH has gone away with work for a couple of days and I am making him stew over dropping me in it. Anyhow - I have new reasons to be grumpy with him as he now tells me he will be working away 3 nights next week, 2 nights the week after and has invited friends down to stay 10 days before due date. I think after all the months of excitement he is now in denial!

I have done another list as for some reason I keep dropping off it.

Lizzie - LOL @ the thought of you wearing a skirt, tights and trainers! Thankfully i'm still in all my maternity clothes, and even still in my normal work trousers, but only because i bought the next size up when i first bought them (when i wasn't pg) as i have to allow for my chunky thighs. Now that i'm not at work i just slob around in my trackie bottoms and t-shirts. Lovely!

Loopy - chill! I do remember what it's like to not like your DCs very much when they are being little buggers tho. You have my sympathies!

Jarm - shame on you for not baking DD a birthday cake!! Pity you didn't get the gift in time tho. It sux when that happens doesn't it. How annoying! Oh and you are in no way allowed to have that baby early, even by next week! You have to wait at least until the week after that, when we're BOTH 37 weeks, it's only fair! :P

Jet - thanx for the recipe. DP is a veggie so have bought veggie mince for him and ordinary mince for me and DS. I'll adjust your recipe accordingly. Cheers for that!

Iris!!! Good luck!!!! Am sending you lots of positive and painfree labour vibes!!

Berry - Dont keep too busy with the house - make sure you get plenty of rest! Great to know you've got a MW who is positive about HB.

Worry - Welcome! I have added you to our list!

I might go and unpack my new moses basket now. It's still in it's box in the conservatory. What IS it with me and not wanting to unpack lovely stuff, i.e. Wispas from their wrappers and moses baskets from their boxes?!!!

Now i know why i didn't want to open my moses basket stand. ALL the bloody screws are missing! That means another (potentially fatal) trip to Toys R Us tomorrow now! GGRRR!

OP posts:

Congratulations Kate and Pink

Iris - sorry of the labour vibes I sent you were too strong (making you a day earlier than planned). Good luck for tomorrow.

Rg - are you v sure they aren't in there somewhere? maybe sellotaped to another bit of it? Hope so.

RGPargy · 24/10/2007 00:19

Silk - absolutely positive there's no screws in there. It's a long thin box with the bits in it and i've checked and re-checked and they're deffo not there. I will double check they've not fallen out in the car boot tomorrow but other than that, it's another trip to the shop tomorrow. Oh well!

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 07:48

CONGRATULATIONS KATE AND PINK!

Wow! How exciting!! More babies!

RG - bummer about the Moses basket. I need to get mine out too - still all nicely wrapped up as well!

ELB - my DH has a tendency to drop me in it with my inlaws - not on purpose but they are demanding and he doesn't get round to setting them straight very quickly. I do sympathise. Oh and the guests thing - v inconvenient when you need the loo all night like we do now!

Hi WorryMummy! Nice to have you here.

I had a bad night's sleep - lo went psychotic as I tried to go to sleep (this happens sometimes) and had a mad hour where it just kicked and wiggled and made me feel sick (it's not meant to have enough room to be this active at 39 weeks but it seems to have!). Then from 2 am I had pain, like period pain, in a band around the bottom of the bump and emanating from the back. It was like waves - I think it was sort of practice labour pains and can now vaguely imagine what early labour might be like. Went on for hours and then petered out so finally got to sleep... am absolutely fine today though! totally normal.

Off to midwife later; in the meantime am taking it easy (ie sitting on the computer, reading, writing letters). Going to make a nice veggie chilli this afternoon to freeze again - Jet your lasagne recipe looks lovely by the way! - and am wondering what else I could make to freeze - any ideas?

Oh and am excited because my mum brought me my shawl from when I was a baby, so our lo will get to wear its mummy's shawl!

Have a good day.

JARM · 24/10/2007 07:54

RG - what a crock of sh*t!!! Hope the trip to babies r us isnt too expensive!!!

Im feeling REALLY ill today... fell asleep about 11ish last night but have been up and down all night wanting to throw up but cant. Bump has been really sore too, so just going to take it easy.

Heartburn is doing my head in - wake up with it, go to bed with it, and nothing is touching it.... hairy baby alert!!

Hope you all have a good day, ill check in around the decorating!

littleoldme · 24/10/2007 10:13

Congrats Kate and Pink. That's fantastic news. Post piccies please- us baby stalkers need them

Iris -sending up burned offerings for you this morning. Good luck.

Choc . I love this stuff. It does take a while to make but is easily freezable, healthy and very scrum. Here's the link Hope you manage to have a restful day.

JARM - Hope you can rest today. I hear that Wispas, taken orally four times a day, are good for heartburn.

No sign of Choudru...

berrybliss · 24/10/2007 10:30

Congratulations Kate and Pink!!!!

choudru · 24/10/2007 12:17

Congratulations Pink and Kate! Gosh - things are really starting to progress now aren't they! 4 babies already.

I'm still with child - no BH for a day or two so things have settled down a bit. Can't walk for much longer than 5 mins without pelvic tenderness though - feels like LOs head is resting heavily on it.

Had consultant appointment yesterday - everything looking fine and ready for take off.

Just dragged myself out to a coffee morning for half an hour. I'm so exhausted these days so have been spending most of my time lying on the sofa. Thought if I could drag myself out, even for half an hour, it would make me feel a bit less groggy. Worked a treat but now am so tired, the task of rustling up some lunch for DS seems huge.

LOM - will e-mail you about meeting up for more cake.

Has anyone got any recommendations for the best bottles to reduce risk of nipple confusion?

Iris - let us know how you're getting on! Good luck!!!
