By the way choc - my experience is very similar to yours. Baby pretty active for 39 weeks and same waves of pain.

I guess it means our bodies are preparing themselves for the big day!

RGPargy · 24/10/2007 12:23

Afternoon ladies!

Went to bed last night at gone 1am and have actually slept right through til 9.40am!!! It's the best night's sleep i've had in ages!!

I've been trying to set up my wireless network again this morning (it broke when the plug got switched off and on again suddenly, a few months ago) but i've had no joy so i'm going to have to re-set the whole bloody thing - what a pain. I've spent far too long fiddling around on DP's laptop not getting it to work so now i think i should go and do some painting in the nursery that i was meant to do yesterday and have a fiddle with all our laptops later. It's soooo frustrating having just one PC coz we all fight over who's turn it is! Not that we're net geeks or anything.....

Choc - Sorry you didn't have a good night's sleep. Strange about the pains too - I bet you thought "this is it!"!! You never know tho, i reckon it wont be long for you.

Jarm - yeah i was really pissed off about it last night! Thankfully Toys R Us is about a 1 minute car ride away or a 5 minute walk (or 10 minute waddle if you're anything like me!). Sorry you're not feeling well either! Make sure you do take it easy, you've been going nuts lately so maybe this is Mother Nature's way of telling you to slow down a bit?!

Oh yes, where IS Choudru?! I was only thinking this morning that she's not been on for a day or two. I wonder if she's had the baby?!!! [excited emoticon]

Ah-ha!!!! Talk of the devil, x-posts with Choudru!

LOL - no baby here yet!

Am getting so impatient though - the thought that I could be 3 weeks away from giving birth is TOO MUCH to contemplate right now.

Good luck with your networking RG - I was a network engineer for 8 years and our wirelesss netowork still does my head in.

silkcushion · 24/10/2007 12:33

am bored.

silkcushion · 24/10/2007 12:34

will someone kick me up the arse and tell me to get going and do something

Congatulations Pink and Kate! Things are really getting rolling around here!

JARM-- sympathies on the heartburn. I'm also expecting a hairy one (one look at my DP would have you convinced of the baby's impending hariness, too!).

No news here. I keep thinking that the baby has dropped, but she hasn't. Does anyone know when that happens for first babies, in relation to labour getting going?

Wow!

Haven't been on here for yonks but have been lurking (naughty)and there's loads of babies being born already!

Massive congrats to everyone and good luck to everyone else. Finish work next Tues so can't wait until then as am knackered but will mean even less internet access...bah!

Had hosp appt yesterday and got to go in again at 39weeks to see how ripe cervix is as they don't want me to go over too much due to horrid SPD. Don't really fancy being induced but then don't want to struggle on much longer either. Oh well - que sera sera....

Take care all

RGPargy · 24/10/2007 14:37

Back again.

Well i've done my bit of painting now (badly) so hopefully DP will do the rest himself. Seriously tho, the bit i had to do was in such an awkward position that i ended up not doing a very good job.

Choudru - Oooooo maybe if i cant get it to work i could pick your brains if i'm really stuck. For some reason the laptops aren't picking up the SSID of the router and it's deffo not hidden! I'll pester you later if rebooting the router does diddly squat.

Loopy - glad DD found her little toy. They can become so attached to the silliest of things cant they? Bless Ugh, dont say 8 weeks of babies!! That sounds like such an horrendously LONG time!!! I want this one out in two or three weeks max!

Right, time put on my "pretend to know what i'm doing with IT stuff" hat.

In a bit!

Hi all

Little - that moussaka looks delish! I'm going to give it a go. I love moussaka. Havent got the ingredients today but might give it a try tomorrow.

Silk - did you move?!

RG, did you sort out the Moses basket?

I saw the mw earlier, my normal one, and she was lovely (remember last week's one scared me to death). Basically lo isn't in a fab position but isn't entirely either OP or OA - though is engaged - so could go either way in labour and no point in stressing about it now and scaremongering. She was v reassuring and made me feel better. Which is what midwives should do! The other midwife had also said that because my bp had once gone up (5 weeks ago and only on one reading - subsequent readings same day were fine) I would have difficulty in labour and need constant monitoring. This one said that my bp is entirely normal all the time and that one-off doesn't count at all. I came away all positive with a spring in my step, so it shows it's worth having a good midwife!!

Off to make veggie (red lentil) chilli. I'm going to try that moussaka tomorrow though!!!

choudru · 24/10/2007 15:21

choudru thoughtfully strokes her chin

Hmm, RG - well the first thing I would have suggested was to reboot, which you have done. You might have to go into control panel and make sure your settings for your wireless connection are set to the correct SSID manually, or it is set to autodetect it?

Our belkin router is a bit dodgy sometimes, so we have to unplug it every night, or it doesn't connect in the morning?!

Loopy - you star - thanks for the bottle info. Saved me researching it for hours (I seem to have become very inefficient at internet research since my brain turned to mush). Have ordered some from Boots, along with breast milk storage bags and some steriliser fluid for the steriliser left over from DS.

Although I am impatient to have this baby, I am making sure I use every extra day I get to do at least one more task to make life easier when she does arrive.

You ladies talking about freezing food has spurred me on. If baby doesn't arrive by tomorrow, I might have a big cook off.

Shepherds Pie was on my list (but why without the mash on top Loopy?). Will also have a go at the moussaka suggested by LOM. Might do some lasagne/casserole as well.

Got sent LO's red baby book today from the health visitors. Makes her seem official already!

choudru · 24/10/2007 15:28

Oh bllcks.

I forgot to order bottle brush.

RGPargy · 24/10/2007 15:48

ggrrr still no bloody luck. I've even downloaded the latest software for my router but noooooooo, it still doesn't bloody work! I'll give it a complete erase and reboot later and then if it still wont work, think i'll give up and buy a new one. It's just not showing itself to any of our laptops but according to the front of the router, the antenna is working. Strange!

Right, off to buy final ingredients for home made lasagne and will also exchange the moses basket stand while i'm out.

Oh my I can't believe we have 4 babies already!!! How exciting- I want to be next!!!!

silkcushion · 24/10/2007 17:06

well I did get off my fat arse and do something. Have cooked 2 lasagnes, a chilli, a sausage casserole and a vat load of bolognaise. It will be interesting to see whether we defrost it and eat it or go for a takeaway every night!!!

Feel shattered now and am about to start on a big pile of ironing.

or ...

I might chuff about on here a bit longer

JARM · 24/10/2007 17:12

lol Silk - see! You can do it!!!

Pixiefish · 24/10/2007 18:32

so peed off.

Dh went to my mum's to drop something off and she's landed me right in it.

I'm going in on Monday to be induced and she was going to have dd for me. On Tuesday she said she had to set up an exhibition about an hour's drive away (like a Christmas Fair where she will leave her jewellery till Christmas - open to the public sort of thing)

Anyway, she's just told dh that she's changed the day she's setting up to Monday so she can be around when the baby's born!!!!! WTF am I meant to do with dd while dh takes me to hospital- it's our half term next week so she won't even be at pre-school.

I had psyched myself up to be on my own if the baby was born on tuesday as dh needed to be with dd as my mum wasn't available but she has really landed me in the shit adn I am so fing cross.

She only wants to be around so that she can get to see the baby the day it's born- there's no other reason

Mossy · 24/10/2007 18:33

Ladies, sorry to interrupt... if any of you are in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding, please click here

Pixiefish · 24/10/2007 18:33

oh and she hasn't mentioned anything to me

berrybliss · 24/10/2007 19:08

The one show talking about retro sweets and revival of the WISPA!! Made me think of all you addicts

ChocolateHobnob · 24/10/2007 19:32

Hi Pixie

I'm not surprised you're cross! What are you going to do? can you say something to her? Could she change things at this stage?

I wonder how Iris is getting along...
