ROLF at woolly shorts` I was going to plait mine, a few beads - you know, make a feature maybe I'll stay au naturelle

JARM · 21/10/2007 17:25

evening girls!

No chance of me rsting yet! Painting to do in the girls room over the next few days, and then we start on the hall and stairs!

Went over to the Car Boot sale this morning and picked up a double maclaren buggy for £25! My bargain of the day! Popped into dads for a cuppa and then home for lunch.

We then decided as it is such a nice day here to clear out the outhouse - we moved in here 6 weeks ago and just chucked all the junk in there and left it, so we have cleared it all out, got a nice big pile to go to the dump and we can now see the wood for the trees so to speak!

Of course, I then had to go and lie on the bed for a couple of hours, but i dont feel any better for it - im feeling awful today, very sore down below (almost as if baby is bouncing on my cervix!) and sore back but I know its nothing to worry about unfortunately! (I blame a bit of ahem you know what with DH last night!)

Bought myself a pineapple today - i hate the stuff - really hate it, but i will suffer it to move this baby!

I promised DH i wouldnt start with natural techniques until 36 weeks - but im a week early! OOOPS! I dont plan on going down the castor oil route this time though - did with DD2 and it was AWFUL and Im sure thats why there was meconium in my waters!

Right then girls, best get off and see how DH is getting on with my Roast Beef and the trimmings - im starving, and catch up with the grand prix - Hamilton is not having a good race so far!!!

BYEEEEEEEEEEEE for now xxx

RGPargy · 21/10/2007 18:04

Jarm - blimey you sound uber organised at the moment!! But dont punish yourself with eating revolting pineapple. You'd have to eat about 7 on the trot for it to have any effect so i really wouldn't bother!! Just stick with a bit of you know what with DH instead. Much more enjoyable!

Hello girls,

have not managed to catch up with the thread since friday afternoon because just as I thought I was going to be celebrating my fifnishing work, I was in so much pain, lower and back and front. Got me worried because despite being 35.2 weeks, the bags are not ready yet!!

Hope everyone is fine though, roll on Nov

Jarm: We have had to change channels beacuse of what is happening to Hamilton, its causing too much anxiety isn't it, Hope he comes through.

Gotta finish my cooking, catch you later!

ChocolateHobnob · 21/10/2007 18:05

Hi all!

Katie's gorgeous! (and Kayla you look fab!) Got me all broody... can't wait. Well I can - cos I want a bit of me time first - but don't want to wait TOO long.

Iris/Sarah, I've got a pedicure on Tuesday. My brother bought me a luxury £45 pedicure for my birthday at a salon in town. So I'm going on Tuesday afternoon after a lunch out with my parents. [I'll be 39 weeks on Weds, so unless lo comes early!]

Jarm, I hate pineapple and am ignoring that idea for induction. I havent actually tried inducing baby out yet, but mainly cos I only started mat leave this weekend! Ideal timing for lo would be Weds/Thurs this week (39 weeks) but suspect lo is going to be late.

Silk, I've had that feeling for ages too - it hasnt got worse as the baby has descended further which I suppose is a good thing because it's a bit scary - you feel like the baby's about to pop out!

RG, nursing bras... well... I've managed to buy one, but size-guessing really, based on what I am now. I figure I'll sort out more and order online this week/after lo comes along.

Had a nice day today... been into town, shopped, bought a camcorder and a pile of books - so I can curl up and read tomorrow in between my industrial cooking to fill up the freezer. I've got a half leg of lamb, marinated in cumin, ginger, yoghurt, turmeric, and garlic, in the oven, to serve with spiced potatoes, spicy tomato relish, and spinach, tonight. Yum; I can't wait...

Have a good evening all!

choudru · 21/10/2007 18:23

Evening ladies,

Have had a quiet but productive day. Done a few odd jobs like locate camera charger, sort out changing unit (which had become a bit of a general storage unit), undertaken some essential fanjo maintenance and made a list of toddler groups to stick on the fridge.

Also been to ASDA to pick up Bounty bag which contained £5 George voucher. Used it to buy DS a Bob the Builder hat, scarf and mittens which will be his present from the LO.

I need to rearrange my labour and baby bags for the hospital tonight - should only take 5 mins.

I've been having lower back ache for the past few hours - like period pain. And some BH contractions last night and this evening. It might mean things are about to happen or it might just be body getting ready.

Put it this way - if LO arrives in the immediate future then I am as ready as I'll ever be. Have realised that the longer I stay pregnant, the more 'essential' jobs I find to do. So if I didn't give birth until 42 weeks - I'm sure I'd fill that time up with odd jobs that simply 'must' be done before baby arrives. I suspect this is an illness we all suffer from...

As for pineapple and sex. Pineapple gives me tummy ache and I'm too bloody tired for sex today. Might jump DH in a day or two if I'm still preggers. Am sure he won't object to being used and abused.

Iris and Silk - enjoy your sex and pineapple orgy! Sounds a bit messy to me

Sorry to hear about all the emotional ups and downs. I had that a week ago but feel strangely calm this week.

Had a lovely lovely soak in the bath last night while the rugby was on - read up on one of my baby books for some last minute tips. Think I will do more of the same tonight. Used Clary Sage soak - was fantastic for soothing my aching body and I've heard it can bring on labour - iris can you confirm?

choudru · 21/10/2007 18:26

Choc - that lamb you're cooking sounds delicious!

My DH would faint and think he'd gone to heaven if I made that.

CONGRATULATIONS Kayla, I missed the great news. happy for you that you persevered and got the birth you wanted.

Katie's pictures are lovely

sarahloumadam · 21/10/2007 18:46

Sounds like you have all had lovely Sunday. LOL re hairy shorts syndrome. Whilst painting my nails I also undertook some essential maintenance and just about managed not to do major damage .

The birth prep class was excellent. The MLU is so lovely and calm and the DH is completely converted to the idea of a water birth (to begin with he thought I would be better off in hospital). Although my DS is head down, he leans to one side and I am going to have to try some different positions to get his back shifted to the middle.

They mentioned clary sage Choudru as a way to stimulate contractions. Apparently it can make you/your partner v.spaced out if you use it and then drink.

Came home and DH cooked lovely tea (lamb and all the trimmings) then he has gone out for a few hours (he works as a volunteer with a visually impaired football club) and I can mnet and loll around to my hearts content - bliss . Hope you all have a good evening.

BunnyBaby · 21/10/2007 18:59

Kayla - congratulations - Katie is gorgeous!

Pineapple - from what I was told this is only effective if you eat the core of the pineapple which is the horrible hard bit - bleugh

iris66 · 21/10/2007 19:33

ChocolateHobNob - your lamb has me drooling and I've only just eaten!!

choudru - sounds all very promising Good luck! I've heard the same as Sarahlou about clary sage btw (note to self...buy some!!!)

Loopy - sounds like a very civilised day

Bunnybaby - the core?!!! noooooo!!!! (best I get DH ready for lots of action instead )

JARM - another busy day?! you need to rest woman!!!!

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend. (I finally got up & showered at 4pm today so am feeling quite chilled - I highly recommend it! ) night all x

JARM · 21/10/2007 19:51

iris - i want to rest, honestly i do, but there is so much i want to get done!

Had a lvoely tea and another walk along the prom - although not as long tonight as DD2 decided she was just that little too tired.

Got back home at 7.25, DD2 in bed asleep by 7.30 and DD1 is out cold on the sofa next to me!

Will probably do some painting tonight if i can face it (ooooh the smell!) if not, will be MNing on the laptop watching DH instead!

Loads of washing and ironing needs sorted, so may do that - will seehow i feel!

DH asked for a replay of last night so I guess I will have to save some energy for that too!!!

Choudru - i was chatting to a friend on the phone last night, for her second labour all she used was birthing pool and a flannel soaked in clary sage! She said it was fab - helped by it only being a 4 hour labour (after a monster 2-day first labour). She said she was just getting to the point of wanting to get out of the pool and have some drugs when the mw said it was time to start pushing. Not quite sure what the clary sage does, but it seemed to work for her.

FCH · 21/10/2007 21:52

Hi all,

Just a very quick one to say that although I haven't done anything productive at all the days have just drifted past without me logging on, and I just knew I was going to have missed a baby arriving... KaylaB - CONGRATULATIONS - so very exciting!

Sarah - I am already pinning the hair back a lot - and am sure this will continue after the birth. DH has decided he really likes it but I am clearly not cut out for having a fringe!

Right - tomorrow I WILL catch up!

Pixiefish · 21/10/2007 22:08

Argh- I've just realised- with my planned induction I could very well be next. Am absolutely worried sick about going in and being away from dd

LK2boyzma · 21/10/2007 22:09

I just looked up clary sage on the net and found some mixed messages about its usage/contraindications. So I have e-mailed them to ask for some clarification. I will report back their response for anyone who might be interested IF they do respond.

iris66 · 22/10/2007 00:40

Pixiefish - I know how you feel. i'm worried about leaving DS even though I know he'll be absolutely fine. We've made plans for someone to come and stay in the house with him if I go in the night (he never wakes) and someone else to have him during the day (ie get him up etc -someone he knows better) and that's just the emergency cover. My mum's coming up on Wed to care for him as I'm supposed to be at the hospital for 8.30 on Thursday morning for induction. I think that's why I can't sleep at the moment - my mind's too churned up as the day approaches. As my DH said earlier though - millions of people have had second, third and fourth children and their others are fine while they go and give birth. Perhaps I should change my name to panicpants or something (I'm usually so level headed and practical too ) sodding hormones!

Loopy - mean reds???! never heard that phrase before d'you mean hormones? (sorry if I'm being particularly thick ) Sounds like you had a lovely weekend with your friends but yes, hand the Mr Muscle to DH and tell him your hormones need the oven to be clean!

LK2Boyzma - that'd be really useful if you do find anything out about the clary sage. Herbalism/Aromatherapy isn't something I've got into because of the potential for contraindication when you use them. Particularly if you're taking a conventional (chemical)or even herbal, medicine as well. That said, I have seen it recommended in plenty of books as being useful in labour so would be genuinely interested in your findings .

Enough waffling so I suppose I'd better go and attempt some shut eye (see - I can do one eye! lol )night all x

capecodder · 22/10/2007 07:49

Good Morning all.

LK- thanks for looking into clary sage- i am very interested to hearing more- keep us posted.

Loopy- aren't the mean reds from Breakfast at Tiffanys or am I getting confused?

Nykate- Are you actually in NY? Just wondering as there is where I was born and raised. Good luck with your scan.

regarding hair shorts I had a dream last night that I was looking forward to sex with DH and when I looked down my pubic hair was as long as a horses tail. I kept trying to arrange it so that he wouldn't be able to tell how long it was. ugh!

jetgirl · 22/10/2007 09:02

Katie is beautiful Kayla, and you have that post birth glow! If you want to see frazzled you should see me right now - sitting here in my dressing gown, complete with nosebleed stain, eating ready brek after a rubbish night's sleep (though who isn't having those at the mo?!), as DD came in at 3am to tell me that Daddy drew a picture of an alien for her...

Silk - lol at the woolly shorts my lady garden is long overdue on the pruning too!

Loopy - no way should you clean the oven. My DH has been charged with that job (though this means I'll end up doing it in a few weeks as it will be a major fire risk if we leave it much longer!)

RG - I second Loopy's advice re nursing bras. I had a fitting before the birth and one when DD was about a week old and my milk had come in when I was enormous! The scary thing is, only my nursing bras fit now so surely I am only going to get even bigger. My DH's eyes will be popping out of his head! Before I had children I was a 34B, now I am 36E! All natural too [quietly proud emoticon]

Was really looking for ward to watching the rugby on Sat, but I fell asleep about 20 minutes in and woke up when it was all over! I then spent a good couple of hours in pain as LO just wouldn't stop moving. Anyway, want to see the MW at the hospital yesterday ready for her to confirm that yes, LO was still breech and arrange consultant meeting, only to discover that the pain I was in on Saturday evening was the LO turning the right way - HOORAY! Head is 4/5ths engaged, and MW said baby was unlikely to turn back (though I am scared he/she will just to ruin my plans). So, with any luck, we're back on for the waterbirth again. I am so relieved

The prospect of a section had however spurred us into action and we actually got around to ordering the double buggy we need and bought a new crib mattress this weekend, so LO won't have to sleep in a box! I even packed my hospital bags so I am ready for anything now.

littleoldme · 22/10/2007 09:29

Iris - pleased to hear that you are taking care of your personal grooming.

Choudru - Sounds like Lo may be getting ready . Exciting . Re Bounty packs - is that an on line thng or did you MW sort it out. I haven't had one. grrr.

Loopy - Def get Dh to clean your oven.Play the Pg card while you can. Alternatively, try some baking soda and a scrubbing brush. Cleaning the oven is rubbish job so I think you should tell him that if he does it you'll promise to squeeze something the size of a small melon out of you fanjo. That should do it , it's been working lots for me lately

Choc. Your lamb sounds delish... I think you may have share the recipe. I recently discovered that there's a fantastic butcher about an hour away from us who sells half a sheep for £35 quid. I love lamb so much that I'm considering buying a bigger freeezer just so I can go and get one.

Capecodder lol at your dream. You'd need a mower

Moan approaching ... Had a pants night's sleep as I woke up feeling totally overwhelmed by all the stuff I've got to do. There isn't actually that much i think it's more that I realised that the time is fast approaching and the reality hit. You'd think the huge belly, scan and positive pg test would have brought it home to me but no. I also can't seem to shake the worry that I might not actually like my Lo. I know it's all hormones and that women aren't supposed to say things like that but I'm sure I'm not the first.

Think I will soothe myself with croissants.
