I'm so excited for September too !!!! There's suddenly an autumnal feel in the air and I'm so ready to meet our baby 💜

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 09:39

@MooseWL because of covid some items are not in yet!! Keep ringing to chase them but we just have to be patient !!
We ordered m&s bedroom furniture 2 weeks and the delivery date is mid December!!! I had to ask the girl to spell the month as I was sure she said mid sept lol but nope dec!!!! Can't believe it and again all die go covid and delays as they are catching up!!!! Hope your work gets done nice and quick x

Piper1879 · 01/09/2020 10:21

@UrsulaSings good luck !!! Hope it all happens today

@ShiningStarz although I had a section , I was in for about 36 hours , I took snacks , lucozade sport and squash , two nighties as I wanted to change once my catheter was out. And way too many baby clothes but it didn't matter too much !!

I love September mainly cause it's my birthday tomorrow haha 😂 still can't believe I had a late August baby !

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 10:51

Another failed attempt at colostrum harvesting. Just nothing, absolutely nothing today and worried now that something is wrong with the baby :(

liquoricecravings · 01/09/2020 11:10

@ShiningStarz the breastfeeding talks I've listened to have said that if you can't produce anything before the birth it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Perhaps have a warm bath and try to do it there?

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 11:15

Thanks @liquoricecravings I'v my last appt tomorrow for a check up and sweep! I could try a bath! I'v tried hot water bottle compression, massage etc. I'll ask at the appt tomo. I'v also emailed la leche league. Thank u xx

CNovittBolden · 01/09/2020 11:34

Oh @ShiningStarz please don't worry!! The midwife some women can't harvest but have no issue once baby comes.

Honestly please don't put any pressure on yourself.

You are an amazing woman carrying a beautiful baby and that is incredible!

LatteLover12 · 01/09/2020 11:49

Honestly @ShiningStarz I fed my older two for a year each but both times it took 3-5 days for me to have anything of substance!

I successfully fed them both for a year.

I never leak, pumping in hospital produced about 2ml of colostrum... but we got there & it was fine. Please don't worry xx

@Emmy2020 good luck to your daughter tomorrow. My eldest started last year & began walking to school for the first time but he quickly settled into it. My youngest is back tomorrow - I really don't feel prepared!

Laura1348 · 01/09/2020 12:56

@MooseWL
Thanks.
It's a learning curve for sure!!
Thank you

Piper1879 · 01/09/2020 13:17

Can any of you ladies help ? Kairo's skin is so dry and cracked since leaving the hospital , I've not bathed him or put anything on it but the poor little mite it looks sore

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 13:35

Hey @Piper1879 I would
Ring your
Midwife / GP. I remember this being the case with my neice and she got an emollient from
Gp but she was definitely older. I've bought a child's farm organic coconut oil that I got for baby massage, maybe you could ask midwife if this would be suitable x

Smilymami · 01/09/2020 13:55

@Piper1879 it seems kairo needs to be moisturized. Aveeno baby moisturizer is a good one for babies with sensitive skin. Ask your GP first though.
@UrsulaSings goodluck

ChipsAreLife · 01/09/2020 13:57

@Piper1879 when do you next see midwife or heath visitor? I would def try get some cream for it like @ShiningStarz says.

@ShiningStarz please don't stress. There is nothing wrong with you or your baby. To be honest when I heard about this colostrum harvesting my first thought was 'more pressure on women'. I have never done it before. I actually tried it a few times last week to try get labour going and got nothing! I BF both my girls after c sections for 9 months. My advice is have a day off and please please don't put pressure on yourself, there is enough as it is x

Thanks @ChipsAreLife @LatteLover12 @CNovittBolden
I am
Putting way too much pressure on myself, just scared there won't be any milk after baby is born but I know this is irrational behaviour, lol stupid hormones!!! I phoned midwife and she said to keep trying but I'll not try again for couple days. Thank u x

Lazydaisydaydream · 01/09/2020 14:03

@ShiningStarz I breastfed my son until just before he was two, no issues producing milk at all, but when I've tried harvesting colostrum this pregnancy I can barely get any out! Honestly don't stress about it, if the baby is well when born you won't even need it, and if you had to the midwives could help you express in the hospital once you'd had him.

I've stopped trying now, if I was you I'd do the same Smile

ChipsAreLife · 01/09/2020 14:08

Completely agree with @Lazydaisydaydream you need to be relaxed in order for BF to work. If you go into stressed and thinking you've failed before you start it won't help. My milk
Didn't come in for about 4 days and baby was fine both times x

MooseWL · 01/09/2020 14:13

@sianyflewog my midwife asked me this morning if my hospital bag was packed 🤣😬 I told her it will be done by the weekend haha! Is your baby bag packed yet?

HugeAgeGap · 01/09/2020 15:14

@Piper1879 you could try putting a thin layer of the lanolin on it, the stuff that you get for sore nipples, can't remember the brand name. lanisoh is it?! If this is ok for nipples prior to baby feeding I think this can go on their skin too! I'm really fussy about any kind of ointment/cream and only use natural/organic and i'd feel comfortable trying a dab of that xx

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 15:34

Thanks @ChipsAreLife and @Lazydaisydaydream because of my gestational diabetes the baby will really benefit from my colostrum. Fingers crossed it'll happen in the next week. But your right, I will relax and if it's meant to be it will be!! Thanks x

sianyflewog · 01/09/2020 19:14

@MooseWL Mostly 😂 I picked up some squash, peppermints, deodorant in the supermarket today which I need to put in the bag - but the essentials are in there! My husband is working nights this week and I panicked that I’d go into labour while he was working, so I double checked both mine and baby’s bag last night before I went to bed 😂

sianyflewog · 01/09/2020 19:19

@ShiningStarz I remember the girl in the bed next to me on post-op was filling syringes throughout the day and night after her section. If it doesn’t happen before, it doesn’t happen - you can’t force it and the more you worry, the more your body will freak out. I haven’t leaked anything on either pregnancy - there is no sign of anything there if I massage now, but there was plenty once H was born so I don’t doubt it’ll happen again xx

glasha87 · 01/09/2020 19:19

@ShiningStarz
When I was expecting DD1 my nipples leaked from about 20 weeks, maybe earlier. This time around there’s absolutely nothing! I was a little concerned this morning actually and when I squeeze it’s very hit and miss as to whether anything comes out - usually miss. However, I’m not going to try much as only going on 38 weeks on Thursday.
I’ve accepted that if she has to have formula until my milk comes in - so be it! Fed is best. I don’t have an iota of how to go about bottle feeding a newborn mind Hmm

Lilice · 01/09/2020 19:31

@MooseWL 😂🤣 come on, you can do it lol! I just have to put toiletries in mine and it's done. The baby's bag is ready 😄

flameprincess · 01/09/2020 19:55

Gosh I remember being in hospital after my first section with DS and the midwives trying to get me to express - I really struggled and there was a woman in the bed next to me just filling bottle upon bottle with it - I remember drawing the curtain and crying I was so jealous!! My milk eventually came in properly on day 3 but it felt like a lifetime and you do get stressed and compare to other people. It's natural but try not to worry it happens at a different time for everyone. I can only say that now with the benefit of hindsight mind.

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 20:04

Thanks @flameprincess @glasha87 @sianyflewog I know I need to take a chill pill 😊😊 or 3!!! Xx
