@Piper1879 glad Kairo is settling in well! The cats will definitely adjust, our dog was pretty confused when Wren first came home but seems to have got used to him now.
Your poor stomach. Definitely keep on with the pain relief, especially before bed - don’t need anything else interrupting your sleep on top of night feeds for little one! Discomfort shouldn’t last too long at least but I definitely carried on taking pain killers at night a little longer than through the day

MooseWL · 30/08/2020 17:22

Glad everyone else is finding the perineal massage weird 😂 @pangolin84 I did it for like a minute this morning, I agree 5 seems forever and also not a clue what I'm doing! Something has got to be better than none though i guess.

MooseWL · 30/08/2020 17:23

@sara7455 those sheets look great have ordered some ☺️

sianyflewog · 30/08/2020 17:33

On the nighttime change front, we definitely never changed after every feed last time. Obviously if he had a poo he was changed, and if he was saturated he was changed - we would do it before the feed (he didn’t tolerate being interrupted mid feed 😂) and he would be fasto by the end so didnt want the cold air to wake up again.

Emmy2020 · 30/08/2020 18:23

I’ve pretty much been sleeping all day! I know this whole pregnancy I’ve been tired but I honestly can’t stay awake today. Got up this morning had breakfast then at 10 went for hour and a half nap then had a nap after lunch then another few hours nap until just now. Can’t stop sleeping! 😴😴

flameprincess · 30/08/2020 19:51

@Sara7455 those sheets look like a godsend I have ordered some! I've not got the official Next to Me as my cousin gave me her version which she got from Smyth's and I've been puzzling over what sheets to get for it.

Had another crappy day today my digestive system is all over the place. Everytime I eat I get agonising trapped wind and have to lie down most the day. I was prepared for it after the c section but annoyed it's happening already.

I've got windeze, deflatine, peppermint capsules, peppermint tea all on standby ready for after my op and am dismayed to find none of them are working. Only relief I get is sitting in a warm bath.

Does anyone know if after the op you can get anything prescribed from the doctor for this?

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/08/2020 20:33

@Sara7455 those look great... Are they waterproof mattress protectors or just cotton fitted sheets? The description seems to call them both things!

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/08/2020 20:38

I tried the perineal massage and couldn't really reach Confused have I got really short arms or something?! Hoping it won't matter too much Blush

ShiningStarz · 30/08/2020 20:43

I should really start the perineal massage!! That and the colostrum from tomorrow, now we are almost in Sept!!

Sara7455 · 30/08/2020 20:48

@Lazydaisydaydream they’re just cotton fitted sheets. I’d already got the snuzpod mattress protector so wasn’t too worried about the sheets being waterproof although I don’t actually remember seeing that in the description when I bought them originally. I got some waterproof sheets for his big cot in the nursery and found they don’t feel particularly comfortable so ended up putting a cotton sheet over the top anyway!

@flameprincess and @MooseWL hope they work as well for you as they have for us. He’s got one on the snuzpod and one on the Moses basket at the moment so they definitely flex to fit a few different things and the patterns are quite cute.

flameprincess · 30/08/2020 21:07

@Lazydaisydaydream I don't have to do the massage but I'm in awe of you ladies that are trying it as there is no way I would be able to reach at this stage either Blush

LatteLover12 · 30/08/2020 21:33

@flameprincess I had horrendous shoulder tip pain from wind after my last section & they gave me peppermint capsules in the hospital to relieve it.

@MooseWL I work on a rotation of 3 - one on, one dirty, one clean so I've bought three lots of cotbed sheets, three lots of snuzpod sheets etc...

ShiningStarz · 30/08/2020 21:44

Good plan @LatteLover12 iv purposely bought lots of white/light grey sheets, muslins and towels etc so I can just do one big load together. 😊

ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 05:26

Wide awake since 5. The tingling in my right hand woke me and still hasn't returned to normal!! I was updating my Tesco click and collect and remembered to add dettol spray! I remembered my sis in law spraying the changing mat particularly after a poo to disinfect the mat! 🙈

flameprincess · 31/08/2020 11:36

I've done so much online shopping in the early hours too - pregnancy insomnia is expensive Grin

Smilymami · 31/08/2020 12:41

@ShiningStarz I wonder if the chemicals in Dettol spray would not be too harsh on a newborns skin? Perhaps you could just wipe it down with wipes or a wet flannel. Or if u use the Dettol spray, perhaps you could still wipe it off after with wipes. Their skins are so sensitive

ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 13:18

@Smilymami iv got mat liners that I'll be using too. Yep the detail spray is antibacterial, unfortunately baby wipes aren't. Will just wipe after with wet cloth to ensure the spray is totally removed 😊

ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 13:19

Totally failed at my first attempt of colostrum harvesting 😭 I saw beads on both nipples but not enough for actually collect. Will try again later but feeling so deflated :(

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 31/08/2020 14:37

Don’t worry - it can take a while to get going !!

ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 18:21

Thanks @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee 🤞🤞

CNovittBolden · 31/08/2020 18:32

@ShiningStarz don't feel disheartened at all! It can take a few times to get anything!! The midwife told me it can also take up to 5 days to fill one syringe

You are amazing no matter what!

ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 18:46

Thank you @CNovittBolden
I'm gearing up to try again!
I will use hot water bottle and apply heat and massage for a few minutes before and then give it another go. Watched some YouTube videos just now so fingers crossed more comes the more I do it as you say 🤞😊

CNovittBolden · 31/08/2020 19:50

Good luck, let me know how it goes! 🤞🏻 just have patience and stay calm. Stressing isn't good for you or bubs.

Got some more today but not sure how often we're supposed to do it? Is there a set amount of time to wait?

September 2020 6 - we are (almost) ready babies!
ShiningStarz · 31/08/2020 20:51

That's brilliant @CNovittBolden I literally got 1/8 of a syringe :(
Will try again tomorrow.
Supposed to be no more than 2 or 3 times a day!! You'll have enough in a couple days!! I hope I have more joy tomorrow 🤞🤞

flameprincess · 31/08/2020 21:04

@ShiningStarz @CNovittBolden are you putting straight into syringe or doing into a spoon? My midwife said I can start but I'm waiting for DS to start school first on Thursday as I'm worried about them bringing on contractions so not risking it. After he's settled in I can chill!

I seem to leak a lot into my bra/clothes yet when I attempt to squeeze myself I only get a teeny drop - so weird! I read somewhere you can take fenugreek to help with supply but I can't seem to find if it's safe in pregnancy or whether this is just for after the birth.
