@Piper1879 congratulations!!! What a beautiful baby. Hope you're feeling well and taking it easy?

@TJ17 eekkkk!!! I'm so jealous. Good luck!!!

@flameprincess I'm the same. Our neighbour has been redoing his drive and his next door neighbours for 6 weeks and the noise is driving me insane as I can't daytime nap!!!

@MooseWL they won't need changing after every feed and I just have a mat in my bedroom that I use on the bed. I also have one downstairs too. In fact I barely change mine in the nursery to start!

Thank you for all your lovely messages. It's been a shit few days to be honest but DB is slowly getting there. He managed to drink yesterday and hoping they can get him on his feet today. It's so frustrating as I can't visit due to covid.

I slept 9.30-7.00 last night and just woke once for a wee 🥳 but I've barely felt baby since I've woken up so trying to get it move!!

@MooseWL Yep I’m the same, just want to sleep on my front or my back!
I know they’ll need changing a lot but I don’t think it’s a nappy change after every feed? Although it’s been 11 years since my last baby so can’t really remember!
My pushchair is in its travel case in living room, I think I’ll mainly leave it in the car boot once I start using it. Hard to find room for everything isn’t it? Desperately trying to declutter as much as I can at the moment so we have space.

Emmy2020 · 30/08/2020 08:12

@MooseWL I have 4 sets at the moment, guessing that will be okay.

MooseWL · 30/08/2020 08:22

Aah okay, having some nappy stuff in the bedroom sounds like a plan!
@chipsarelife glad he's doing a bit better must be really hard not being able to visit! That sounds like a good sleep!
@emmy2020 keeping it in the car boot might have to be the plan! So much equipment so little space I'm trying to massively declutter too!

liquoricecravings · 30/08/2020 08:31

@MooseWL I've got four sheets and two waterproof mattress protectors for the next to me. I'm going to see how that works before I buy anything else. I've also bought two protectors and two sheets for the bassinet on the pram as I'm planning to use that for day naps downstairs. I got them from the little green sheep company as they do the smaller sizes.

@Emmy2020 I've placed the next to me up against the bed and I'm getting used to shimmying down the bed to get out. I figured if I can do it with my bump it'll be much easier after the baby is out.

Lilice · 30/08/2020 08:46

@MooseWL I've got 6 fitted sheets plus one mattress protector for my next 2 me, i think I'll get another mattress protector. I've got about 6 fitted sheets for the moses basket, but you can use a pillow cover for those instead.

Lilice · 30/08/2020 08:48

@ChipsAreLife glad your DB is doing ok, hopefully you'll be able to see him soon

Margo34 · 30/08/2020 09:35

I've got 2 fitted sheets and one mattress protector for the next2me. For the cotbednthat will be going up in baby room eventually and when baby is grown up enough for it (6 months or after isn't it, roughly?) I've got 4 fitted sheets and 2 mattress protectors. Hoping it's enough!

Might have to put the next2me on my DH side of the bed as he has more space his side than I do, really don't want to have to swap sides of the bed though if we can help it 🙈

Sara7455 · 30/08/2020 09:47

@Piper1879 congratulations! How gorgeous! I actually agree with you about the surgery being a weirdly pleasant / enjoyable occasion. It was after I didn’t feel so great, hope you’re recovering well and loving every minute with your little one!

@ChipsAreLife glad your DB is doing well, what a stressful thing to be going through!

@MooseWL you shouldn’t need to be changing every feed and I’m another one who’s yet to do any changing in the nursery. Have the changing mat downstairs and at night I’m just using the portable one in the changing bag (which has also become my portable changing station in the house) and changing him on the bed.
We’ve got two specific sheets for each thing he sleeps on and two mattress protectors for the snuzpod. I did get 3 sheets that fit any of the bassinet/snuzpod/Moses basket as well though and wish I’d just got those they’re really handy as I don’t have to think too hard about which clean sheet is for which thing (particularly helpful when dispatching OH for a sheet)

Hi all.. So confused about whether things are slowly starting! Been having on and off mild period-like pains for a week or so but since yesterday afternoon they seem more obvious - but they don't come in waves or anything. When they come they tend to be constant for half an hour or more! Possibly lost a tiny (1p coin) sized bit of mucus plug on Friday night but could have just been discharge. And then a slight bit of brownish pinkish overnight. Just feeling generally crampy and uncomfortable and have no idea if things are just around the corner or weeks away! Any ideas?!

moonriver32 · 30/08/2020 10:13

I'm 39+1 forgot to say!

MooseWL · 30/08/2020 11:31

I have no idea where I got change after every feed. I know nothing about babies 🤣 ah @sara7455 where did you get the sheets that fit everything they do sound handy!

I can't breathe again today with this long baby crushing my lungs again!

@moonriver32 I have no experience sounds like things could be starting but they can also go slowly for days!

Smilymami · 30/08/2020 12:04

@moonriver32 39 weeks here too. I've been having the same for 2 weeks, though not lost my mucous plug yet. Things could be starting for you or they could go on for another few days or weeks.. it's difficult to tell. The not knowing is the hardest part. All the best to you.

MooseWL · 30/08/2020 12:16

Is any else partaking in the delightful pre birth activity of perineal massage? Both the hypnobirthing course I did and my trusts online antenatal course recommend it to reduce tearing chances in birth. I suspect it'll be like the pelvic floor exercises for me, every so often I'll remember to do it!

The antenatal video also recommends you can do it yourself or get your partner to help you and I'm like um no thanks keep away from my perineum 🤣

Sara7455 · 30/08/2020 12:26

@MooseWL - these are the ones I got from amazon, they popped up when I was looking for Moses basket sheets.

moonriver32 · 30/08/2020 12:31

@Smilymami Thank you, it's a guessing game and a frustrating one at that! Just need them to hang in there until Tuesday! All the best to you too x

TJ17 · 30/08/2020 12:34

@MooseWL I thought with my 1st we had to change after every feed in the night too then when my midwife found out she said oh god no only do it if it's a poo obviously or if it's really full of wee! That made things easier haha
I put nappies under the next to me crib and wipes and keep a changing mat in my room to change on the bed during the night. Saves getting up and waking up baby too much!

I'm still in hospital! Mild contractions just come and go! Very frustrating. I think they will induce me tonight so I hope that works fast but I know it doesn't always. Who knows - maybe she will be a September baby after all! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😅

TJ17 · 30/08/2020 12:36

Oh and @MooseWL if you have a car and a roomy boot, store the pram in there 😊

We thought the same with our first about where to keep it and then it turned out we were putting it in and out the car every day anyway so just left it in there in the end! If you think about it you mainly use it when out and about. If you go for a local walk then presumably you will past the car to get it out then anyway so that's what we did x

CNovittBolden · 30/08/2020 12:53

@MooseWL I tried the massage and really didn't enjoy it at all! I know it's recommended but I don't think I'll be doing it again 🤣

pangolin84 · 30/08/2020 13:15

@MooseWL I’ve started with the perineal massage after reading so much about what a difference it makes (just hit 36 weeks). I’ve done it twice so far and am finding it pretty unpleasant. I have no idea if I’m doing it right either. I can’t believe they say to do it for 5 minutes at a time! I look at the clock thinking that must be nearly 5 minutes now - and it’s only been about 30 seconds 😭

liquoricecravings · 30/08/2020 13:20

@MooseWL I've been doing the massage. I've remembered to do it at least twice a week for the past few weeks now. I don't know if I'm doing it right or effectively but at least I've had a go...

@TJ17 I hope all goes well tonight. I've heard you can sometimes defer starting school for a year when the birthday is so close to September - especially if it's a matter of only several hours difference between the 31st and 1st.

ShiningStarz · 30/08/2020 13:50

@MooseWL I'v been doing lots of googling in the early hours!! So I read to only change a poo and if nappy is wet and hasn't leaked this could be left. Also changing either before a feed / mid way a feed as usually they sleep by the end of it so they aren't being woken then for nappy change.
I'v bought nightlights and also having changing mat in room. Actually going to keep changing station downstairs for first while as I'm Predicting the majority of changes will be during the day.

Put the pram in the boot? I haven't build
Mine yet as we won't need it for a few weeks yet.

I think I have 4 sheets for next to me and 3 for the downstairs bed, think I went over board lol I like to be super organised !! Haha

TJ17 · 30/08/2020 14:00

@ShiningStarz oh yes good point! Deffo always change before a feed rather than after as they will hopefully get nice and sleepy again after and go back to sleep 🙏🏼 and try and keep lighting low and noise to a minimum.

ShiningStarz · 30/08/2020 14:09

Aww I hope things start happening for you @TJ17 🤞🤞

Piper1879 · 30/08/2020 15:48

Hi all thanks for all your wishes , was discharged yesterday so at home now. Kairo has settled well but is definitely a night owl ! Cats are very unsure of what to make of him lots of sniffs and confused faces !
Pain isn't too bad at the minute but definitely miss the hospital drugs !!

@TJ17 hope things are starting for you !
@MooseWL I did do it, wasn't pleasant but knew incase of natural delivery I had better try 🤣

@Sara7455 I feel like my stomach is on the floor and am trying to be cautious with wound but am a little bit uncomfortable now , must remember to keep with pain relief
