@LatteLover12 We won't be telling anyone beforehand either for those reasons. And also, it's such a personal decision, I don't want the opinions of the world and his wife!

@MooseWL Do you think Rupert is going to stick now as a nickname even once the little one is born?!

Lorna198 · 26/08/2020 16:29

Hi ladies.
Thank you so much for all the kind words and wishes!
They brought Rafe down to me yesterday so I have him to look after. They are really pleased with him and we should be home tomorrow or Friday!
In other news because nothing is ever normal in my world ... the theatre scales were wrong on Monday so we don’t have actual birthweight. He is weighing as 4lbs 8oz this morning which is nigh on impossible for him to have been 3lbs 10oz on Monday so they checked the scales and yes they are wrong. So new birthweight means he probably didn’t actually need neonatal but hey never mind! He’s happy and healthy and I don’t actually feel that bad either!

Thinking of you @Laura1348 hope you are ok!

LatteLover12 · 26/08/2020 16:34

That's great news @Lorna198 how weird about the scales though!

We've been flippantly telling family we're calling him Trevor - really hope that doesn't stick!! 😂

Thinking of you @Laura1348 😬

MooseWL · 26/08/2020 16:43

@willowT well there's now a swear jar in place for anyone calling him Rupert I figured with a month to go we really needed to stop. I probably owe it about £500 i wish we'd just called him something normal like bean or squish not an actual human name 😂 I imagine it's something he'll get told about.
@lattelover12 Trevor haha love it.

@Lorna198 that's great news that he's actually bigger! Bizarre that they can get it wrong! Glad you're feeling okay and he's with you, bet you're looking forward to being home! Has your partner been able to visit much?

Sara7455 · 26/08/2020 17:31

Definitely agree with not telling people the name until baby is here, then everyone just has to say “oh how lovely”. Except my GP apparently who asked why I’d named him Wren in a tone that suggested disapproval 😂

@Lorna198 that’s great news that he’s doing so well!

OrDis · 26/08/2020 17:48

My DH accidently let slip the name we have chosen to his parents! It was a complete accident so I wasnt mad. Would have been just as easy for me to do it. Thankfully they love the name (mainly because we’ve named her after someone they were very close with, so we knew they’d approve). No idea what my parents will think, defo not telling anyone else before she’s born.

sianyflewog · 26/08/2020 18:12

@ShiningStarz @MooseWL I was like that when I was pregnant on H - just a bump, and other than that living in my size 8 knickers. This time round I am huuuuuge - I am actually really looking forward to starting slimming world in a few weeks time 😂

@ChipsAreLife I think the same about nursing clothes - they’re either something I totally wouldn’t wear, a bit frumpy or totally overpriced. I’d much rather be able to wear my normal style so I don’t mind layering tops, or buying fashionable tops & dresses that are feeding friendly. I really struggled initially last time as I just wanted to look nice!

Our little girl definitely has a name but we are still arguing over a full name or a short version. The full name is in the top 20 but the short isn’t listed I don’t think. I’m still fond of the longer name though, and was considering waiting until she’s born and my husband is emotional to ask him again 😂 We aren’t telling anyone either, and my mum keeps referring to her as “Marj” (my grandmothers name is Marjorie) as my husband had asked if there was a family name I wanted to use. The jokes worn thin now.

Saw the consultant today and all booked in for my section. Felt a bit scared afterward - it’s all so close now!

ShiningStarz · 26/08/2020 19:03

Eeeeek @sianyflewog when is your section?!!

Lilice · 26/08/2020 19:30

Thinking of you @Laura1348 hopefully you're nearly there now.
That's great news @Lorna198 i bet you cant wait to go home.
Me too @sianyflewog i cant wait to get back into shape and i miss my skinny jeans, will be a while until i can fit in them again

Im still struggling with the boy's name. I dont like popular names, but i think i need to be less picky otherwise ill end up with a nameless child. I've got a few in mind if it's a girl. Why are boys" names so difficult?

Lazydaisydaydream · 26/08/2020 20:38

I think I might be having contractions 😱 Shock told my husband and he said "oh no!" I had to remind him that I'm pregnant and this is meant to be happening Grin. I know it might fizzle out to nothing but I'm making myself a big snack just in case haha.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 26/08/2020 20:49

Ooh exciting @Lazydaisydaydream! Let us know how you get on!!

liquoricecravings · 26/08/2020 21:04

We haven't shared our names either for the same reason. It's hard enough to decide on a name together, let alone have another opinion added. When we shortlisted one of the boy names I hadn't realised it had become quite so popular until I looked at the top 100.

My midwife appointment went well today. Only one more to go in two weeks and that's booked for my due date! I can't believe after all these months that the baby will actually be here soon. It's so exciting yet surreal.

sianyflewog · 26/08/2020 21:24

How exciting @Lazydaisydaydream! Will be thinking of you - let us know how you get on!

I’m booked in for 15th Sept - but shhhh don’t tell anyone 😂, as we’re only telling our parents xx

ShiningStarz · 26/08/2020 21:32

Oooooooo @Lazydaisydaydream it's getting exciting !!

Chanel05 · 26/08/2020 21:46

So exciting @Lazydaisydaydream !!

Smilymami · 26/08/2020 21:56

@Lorna198 so pleased to hear that Rafe is back with you and you both are doing well. I did think when I saw his photo yesterday that he looked bigger than 3lb 10.
@Laura1348 good luck. I hope it all progresses smoothly for you.
Saw the midwife today and she attempted to give me a sweep today.. however my cervix is still posterior. Very disappointeling considering I have been having aches, pains and contractions for over a week. More cramping now after the "sweep", I wonder if it means anything. Booked in for another one in a week's time if I'm still pregnant. Fingers crossed.

Lilice · 26/08/2020 22:23

How exciting @Lazydaisydaydream 🤞things progress in the right direction for you! @Smilymami for you too 🤞

LatteLover12 · 26/08/2020 22:52

@MooseWL I can’t wait! Hubby is allowed 1 hour a day. It absolutely fly’s by and feels like he’s been for 5 minutes. I did not expect the emotion that brings each time!!

Oh @Laura1348 huge congratulations and a wonderful name! Hope you and Sampson are enjoying lots of cuddles 💙
