Yes those occasional teasing period pain cramps and braxton Hicks - get those on and off for just over a week now but then they go away!

Anyone else off work and twiddling thumbs ? Today is my first day of Mat leave With 2 weeks to go today until section booked. Feels a little strange - like a waiting period while others are still working and going about normal business !

Margo34 · 25/08/2020 11:31

@liquoricecravingsbim glad I'm not the only one then! It's seems pointless buying something just for Labour but I literally have nothing 🙈 will stick an m&s nightie in with my big knickers order 😂 pregnancy is so classy

@flameprincess I woke up with sharp crampy pains last night too for the first time, didn't last long or reoccur so guess it must have been braxton hicks as bump was tight. Did make me panic that my hospital bag isn't packed though and prompted me question of clothing! 😂

ShiningStarz · 25/08/2020 11:34

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I'm off and have been last 2 weeks!! I was going round the shops doing click and collect but now I'm almost 38 weeks I'm not driving and under house arrest!! I'm not allowed to lift a finger 🤣 I'm making a lot of scones lol
It's actually quite nice just resting up, I was so used to being on the go all day every day but I'v really eased into mat leave chilled vibes before bubs arrives!!!

Roxy8203 · 25/08/2020 11:35
@Roxy8203 would you mind sending me the link to the YouTube video for the TENS machine?
I'm not at my own house due to renovation work and I can't even remember what it was called!! Though if better look at a video and at least try figure out how to work
It!!!
Roxy8203 · 25/08/2020 11:40

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I haven't had any work since March, stood down on full pay so I am fully immersed in the mat leave lifestyle now. I've done loads to the house and been creative, much easier in early pregnancy tho, I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and can't be assed to do anything

Margo34 · 25/08/2020 11:44

@mostlyambridgeandcoffee 👋 I'm off work and thumb twiddling, used to it now!! I'm a teacher so started school hols late July then will go straight into mat leave starting 1st Sept and baby isn't due for a month! (So I have no real excuse for not having done my hospital bag already...) 🙄

liquoricecravings · 25/08/2020 12:10

@LatteLover12 that's really encouraging to hear Smile thank you.

@Margo34 I'm a teacher too and I must confess, I'm really enjoying not having that back to school feeling that I'd definitely have this week if I was going back! I feel like I should plan to do something on the first day of the term to mark the moment my Mat leave actually begins.

@MooseWL I haven't worn jeans for months either and think it will feel odd. I'm rotating the same maternity dresses as I didn't want the stress of buying maternity things that didn't fit and sending them back. I am looking out for some cosy soft pj bottoms once the baby is here and it starts getting a little cooler. It's hard when you can't try things on in the shop (and now I'm so big I should wait until the baby has arrived to check my size).

annie1994 · 25/08/2020 13:43

Congratulations @Lorna198! What a gorgeous little one!

I’m 39 weeks today and had a scan where baby‘a weight is measuring on larger side of normal - I think around 90th centile. Abdominal circumference is now just on 95th centile 😳 ended up having a sweep to see if things can get going any quicker. Doctor said I was 1cm dilated and effaced so we will see! What’s everyone else’s experience with sweeps? Did they trigger labour?

Roxy8203 · 25/08/2020 13:47

@annie1994 I don't have any experience but my midwife told me yesterday a sweep will only help if the body is gearing up anyway

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 25/08/2020 14:44

I had 2 sweeps last time - the second one definitely got things going ! But think overall their efficacy is mixed !

Laura1348 · 25/08/2020 15:26

@Lorna198
Congratulations!

ShiningStarz · 25/08/2020 16:06

@annie1994 I hope the sweep does its magic 🤞🤞. I have no prior experience as this is my first but I'm booked in for a sweep next week, also at 39 weeks. I'll be excited to hear how you progress 😊

annie1994 · 25/08/2020 16:18

Thank you ladies! I’ve been cramping ever since I had the sweep and did bleed a bit after (heads up to anyone who’s not had one before - wear a pantyliner or small sanitary pad just incase) so we shall see 🤔 got my next sweep booked for Thursday. It’s all getting very real and scary now!!

CNovittBolden · 25/08/2020 17:28

@Lorna198 omg congratulations!!! So adorable ❤️😍

Emmy2020 · 25/08/2020 19:09

@Lorna198 Congratulations, he’s adorable!

flameprincess · 25/08/2020 21:39

What exactly is a sweep? I always assumed it was the midwife removing your mucus plug but seems you can have more than one of them?

Good luck to all the ladies having them hope it gets things moving for you.
I seem to feel 'heavier' in the evening I end up crashing on the bed around 9pm so I can stretch out, I can't even sit upright at this time of night as it feels like my whole midsection is bursting with baby. I can't imagine this for another 4 weeks I think the Braxton Hicks got me hopeful, then again I haven't really finished my hospital bag either. I still need to put toiletries and industrial strength sanitary pads in it Grin

@MooseWL I will take a look at H&M as I do prefer dresses. I can't live in PJs all day anyway when I'm at home as MIL is staying with us for a couple of weeks and she always looks so bloody effortlessly put together I will feel like a total slob Blush

OrDis · 25/08/2020 22:36

Just been down to hospital as I felt like baby’s movements were a bit slower this evening. Clearly she’s just toying with me as as soon as they hooked me up to the monitor she was all go 😂. Glad I went though, would have spend the whole night awake worrying otherwise!

sianyflewog · 26/08/2020 04:37

Congratulations @Lorna198 - Rafe is absolutely beautiful. Hope you’re both doing well xx

sianyflewog · 26/08/2020 04:38

Ooooo @MooseWL I need to have a look for those dresses. I mostly wore stretchy vests from
Primark last time, double layered so top went up, vest came down and nothing was exposed.

MooseWL · 26/08/2020 05:32

@flameprincess @sianyflewog
Just thought I would treat myself to some nicer bits so I feel less like a slob afterwards! It's my birthday in September and we normally go away and as I won't be this year asked my partner for some clothes for my birthday! I always think sainsburys have some nice button down shirts too, and also a few dresses in there at the mo (maybe a bit summery but there are defo some that can be worn with tights/cardigans!)
Last year my new years resolution was to buy only second hand clothes for environmental reasons and I got a lot of nice stuff on ebay for really cheap!
Like others have recommended join the Facebook group "can I breastfeed in it"

Wide awake as baby is dancing, now thinking about clothes shopping 😂 i feel like night time feeds are going to be terrible for online shopping haha!

ShiningStarz · 26/08/2020 05:43

@MooseWL were the H&M dresses you got from maternity ?? I don't know what to expect post partum. I'v a small bump so I'v got away with my usual tops but I'v defo needed maternity jeans/dresses/leggings since 12 weeks!!!

ShiningStarz · 26/08/2020 05:44

Lol @MooseWL your a bad influence!! I'm wide awake googling autumn dresses 🤣🙈

MooseWL · 26/08/2020 06:08

Haha sorry @shiningstarz for being an enabler!
Nope just normal style. I've only really put weight on my bump and still wearing normal dresses but the styles I tend to go for are quite loose normally.
Might be worth waiting till after so the returns will be in date if you try on and don't fit!
Debenhams also have shirt dresses/wrap dresses in their sale!
I was going to try and go back to sleep but I can start work at 7 so there's no point now 😂

ShiningStarz · 26/08/2020 06:32

@MooseWL I'm such a starvo!! I came downstairs for my usual super early tea and toast. With the gestational diabetes I have only put weight bump on too 😊 really need to get nursing bras sorted ASAP!! I'm booked in for induction on 9th sept so not long to go. I'v a 38 week appt today so looking forward to seeing if baby is engaged!! I saw some nice shirt button style dresses that could be worn with tights and ankle boots on H&M.. need new winter boots too 🙈 I don't want to live in pj's either, may get a par of track bottoms too just to be comfy and then could easily go for walk too without changing xx

MooseWL · 26/08/2020 06:47

@shiningstarz haha I'm also up and on the tea and toast now!

Do you feel like your baby is engaged? My bump has defo gone down and out in the last week but I'm not waddling yet! I've got a growth scan today as a follow up from last time and I bet he's gonna be a pain and be in an awkward position as usual! I had a dream I had the baby last night but that it was a girl 😂 must be on my mind as at the last scan I wanted them to double check he's a boy but was lying in an awkward position (as usual!) so they couldn't!
