Most newer bassinets are breathable and safe for sleeping in (obv check with your brand) but eg the uppababy Cruz has a flap thing that you can open to make it safe for overnight sleep if necessary.

WillowT · 24/08/2020 11:27

Good luck @Laura1348 and @Lorna198 Exciting times!

We have the uppa baby Cruz (well when/if actually turns up!) for the reason it can be used for safe sleeping so saves space and don't need an additional Moses basket etc downstairs. We have a next to me for upstairs

MooseWL · 24/08/2020 13:01

@sianyflewog I need someone to hold me accountable other than myself 😂 I'll aim for 37 weeks (4th September) please shout at me if I say its not done by then! To be fair I'm an excellent last minute packer, I tend to pack for holidays the morning I go much to the horror of most people!

@margo34 ah that does sound stressful. I hope you can put it behind you, it's awful that they've done it, but you're right do you really want to go back to somewhere like that. Just enjoy the very exciting times ahead 😊

@smilymami I keep feeling sick too. Nothing like the first trimester, but the nausea is there when I lie down. Like someone else said I think it's heartburn related. Chugging gaviscon like there's no tomorrow!
I'm excited for my growth scan this week. Doubt I'll see much though as baby has had his back to my belly for weeks!

sianyflewog · 24/08/2020 14:44

@MooseWL I will be checking on you next Friday! You can check if my baby bag is packed - I’ve done my bag, and babies outfits are organised into sandwich bags but my husband put the other bag away in the attic!

Lilice · 24/08/2020 15:34

I started packing yesterday and my bags are already running out of space 🙄 i packed one tiny baby, some newborn and one up to 1 month but i saw my gp today who examined me and said she thinks this is going to be a big baby , she even joked there were more than one in there. So now i feel like i should repack and take more up to 1 month instead of newborn. Or take everything and bring a gigantic suitcase 🤪

LatteLover12 · 24/08/2020 16:30

Both my boys were big (9lb and almost 9lb) so they go straight into the up to 1 month clothes but I've still packed a couple of newborn suits because they're so scrunched up when they first arrive nothing fits!

My spa day has been amazing. First time swimming during pregnancy and then a lovely full massage. Baby kept kicking away during the whole thing though 😂

Anyone else anxiously awaiting news of the new arrival for our thread?? 👀 👶🏼

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 16:32

Yep @LatteLover12 I keep checking in to see some happy news 😊

Emmy2020 · 24/08/2020 16:55

@LatteLover12 That sounds amazing, must of been lovely to go to the spa.
@ShiningStarz I keep checking this thread for news too! Very exciting!

Carouselfish · 24/08/2020 17:10

36 weeks at mo and looking in mirror this morning, noticed my boobs looked...different. Helpful comment from DM that that is what happens to sheep right before they have their lamb. Ok then. Got hospital bag in car as neither of us think I'll make it to section date. DP really hopes I will or he'll have less time off!

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 17:16

@Carouselfish lol lol your lovely partner!!!!
My hospital bag is packed and ready to go too!! I'm tiny tho, everyone has commented that my bump is small!! Hardly look almost full term!!

pangolin84 · 24/08/2020 17:27

I keep putting off packing my hospital bag as well. I’m 35 weeks and seems so early but know it’s sensible to do it soon. Got to admit I hate packing at the best of times - it really stresses me out worrying about what I’ve forgotten!
Little one was approx 5lb according to the scan at 34+3 so I’m assuming he’ll be average and will probably take some newborn and up to 1 month clothes. But then I worry that he’ll be a whopper and will need up to 3 months straight away!

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 17:41

I never bought big pants?! Just bought boots disposable and packed my old size 10 period pants .. thinking could easily pop somewhere on way home from
Hosp if need bigger granny versions

Chanel05 · 24/08/2020 17:43

@pangolin84 get those bags packed! Not too early at all. I packed mine at 34 weeks and I'm
37 weeks tomorrow.

Sunshinexx95 · 24/08/2020 21:50

Hi everyone
I have been reading comments but been too tired to leave comment. So lazy.
I am tomorrow 38 weeks pregnant and my bump isn't big enough. It is my first baby but still I only gained 10 kilos since I got pregnant and I was not overweighted. I think my baby girl might be very small. She was 2 kilos week 33.

I hope everyone is doing well and soon ready to give birth. My due date is 8th of September so only 15 days left to go.

My hospital bag is packed but I feel like it is too big and sometimes I feel I missed out few stuff ... don't know what I will need and what the hospital will provide

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 22:08

@Sunshinexx95 2ig is 4.4lbs and is on target for week 33.
My bump is small too and I'v been having scans every 2 weeks and everything is fine. Some people just have nice small neat bumps. Try not to worry

Sunshinexx95 · 24/08/2020 22:16

Hehe yeah I think we might be lucky because I'm not as heavy as my sister. She is 2 weeks ahead of me and she is super big although it is her second child. My bump has not dropped either. But maybe it is not always the cause. Everyone that sees me thinks I'm still in early third trimester.
I haven't been walking at all to be honest because every time I want to walk I need to go to pee hehe ... once I had to actually pee in the bushes .. I was super embarrassed

ChipsAreLife · 24/08/2020 22:42

@Sunshinexx95 that sounds fine! Honestly don't worry.

@ShiningStarz I have to have proper briefs as after a section you can't have anything near the scar. My normal pants are too low!

Had my last midwife app today 😱 shes chasing my pre op as I need to get seen as my BP is so low 😫. Baby is pretty much fully engaged ... she said I may not make it till next Friday 😳 going to get all my jobs done tomorrow just in case!!!

@Lorna198 @Laura1348 hope you're both ok 🤞

@Margo34 ah great update. At least that's some stress of you!

@sianyflewog glad it's not just us!!! It's for the cotbed so not mega important. Snuzpod is up and ready for baby to pretend it will sleep in there all night 💃🕺🏻

@Lilice I think it's so easy to overpack! I've been very reserved this time. We are allowed a visitor for an hour per day so at least I can get stuff bought in if needed!

Laura1348 · 24/08/2020 22:51

@ChipsAreLife
Thank you.
The rods are in and I get a call back in the morning to see if they've done the trick
🤞
Hope you are well too. Sounds like it's an exciting time for you too in the near future'

Margo34 · 25/08/2020 07:25

Can I ask another (naive and or stupid) question about packing hospital bags...what do you intend to wear in labour?! I bought hardly any Mat clothes and my DH is very attached and sentimental about his t-shirts. I don't own any nighties or pjs.... So I'm not entirely sure what to put in my bag 🤔

Sounds like you might not be kept waiting too much longer @ChipsAreLife 😬

ChipsAreLife · 25/08/2020 07:46

@Laura1348 eeekkkk!!! Good luck ☺️

@Margo34 to be honest you can wear whatever you want! You don't need a specific outfit. With my first I was just in a T-shirt and leggings to start. Went into the pool where I just wore a bikini top and then once out was just in a vest and pants. Then got put in a gown for theatre.

A nightie is handy for afterwards if you've got a catheter in but not essential

OP posts:
WillowT · 25/08/2020 07:49

@Margo34 I've just got a cheap dark oversized t-shirt then a button front nightie for after. Also, pack a bikini top if you have option of using the water pool!

(And no question is stupid! I'm a FTM and think I ask stupid questions but we just don't know!)

WillowT · 25/08/2020 07:50

@Laura1348 Good Luck!!! Fingers crossed for you

ShiningStarz · 25/08/2020 07:50

@Margo34 I bought a boohoo cheap button up nightie and a Matalan cheap shorts and strappy vest. I thought one of these would do for labour, but the more I look up what to pack, it says something old for labour! So to be honest i think I'm going to wear one of my old strappy vests / nightie I'v had for years. M&S do cotton night dresses for £8. I'v also read its not uncommon to be in the buff !! Or hospital gown. I wouldn't worry about buying anything specific x

ShiningStarz · 25/08/2020 07:53

@Laura1348 lots of luck this morning 💜

@Lorna198 I keep checking in for updates hope your getting on ok.

@ChipsAreLifedo you feel different now baby is 'engaged'?? I have a 38 week appt tomorrow and I don't feel any different, I imagined I would feel intense pressure down there and be aware baby has dropped. Our house renovations need just 1 more week!! Baby plz hold on tightly lol 🤣🤣

Lorna198 · 25/08/2020 08:47

Good morning all!

My wonderful little boy Rafe Stephen was born yesterday at 2:54pm weighing a teeny tiny 3lb 10oz. He’s super small but all ok apart from that! They took him up to neonatal last night as he was losing temperature but apparently that’s sorted now and he’s done nothing but sleep and eat!
Will find out the plan later on. He just needs to pile the pounds on fast!

Cant wait to have him back with me!

Hope you are all ok and that you get this incredible warm and fuzzy feeling with your own little babies really soon! 💙💛💙
