Ah good luck @Lorna198! Is it a section? I was first on list and baby was born at 9.40!

There's so much to catch up on and I'm shattered with awful braxton hicks so will try do tomorrow!

But just quickly I've got carpel tunnel. Midwife didn't seem concerned and said not much they can do!

@Lilice gorgeous nursery, similar style to ours! We've lost four of the screws for our cotbed 🤬

Hope everyone is well though. X

@ChipsAreLife We’re in the same position and have apparently lost the fixings for putting the cot side on 🙈

flameprincess · 23/08/2020 22:54

What has everyone bought for baby to rest in while downstairs if not a Moses basket? I remember DS hating his so don't want to waste the money this time but not sure what the alternatives are? He lived in a bouncer but I've since been told this is bad for their spine Blush although didnt do him any harm!

Emmy2020 · 23/08/2020 22:57

Good luck @Lorna198

Margo34 · 23/08/2020 23:00

@Lorna198 good luck tomorrow!

So the life raft and positive thoughts you all sent me a couple of weeks ago arrived and rescued us, DH secured a job in his company restructure and so we've avoided both of us being unemployed by the time baby arrives next month! Such a relief, the stress was unreal!

We've borrowed a load baby stuff and have it in our house now ready for sorting, job for this week! Still trying to repair the leaky house though so can't make a beautiful nursery yet, hoping we'll be at least water tight before welcoming baby 🤞🤞🤞 @Lilice your nursery looks gorgeous! Mine is damp, water stained, full of mismatched furniture and stacks of boxes still!

Haven't packed a hosp bag yet either, another job for this week. Can I ask a stupid question - when everyone says pack 'big knickers' what actually do they mean? 😂 Like, non-thong type of knickers or actually huge 3 sizes too big type granny pants?! I literally have no clue 🙈

Roxy8203 · 23/08/2020 23:21

@flameprincess I'm using the bassinet from the pram for him to sleep downstairs rather than buying something separate.

flameprincess · 23/08/2020 23:43

Ah I have a bassinet with the travel system that's a good idea @Roxy8203 thank you

@Margo34 I would class big knickers as full briefs that reach up to your belly button so won't sit on the scar. I have these ones from Sainsbury's - very sexy haha tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Bee-Print-Full-Knickers-5-Pack/137250115-Blue?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

liquoricecravings · 23/08/2020 23:56

@Lorna198 I hope tomorrow goes well x

@flameprincess I'm planning to use the bassinet from the pram too. I've ordered a stand it can go on.

@Margo34 I've bought a pack of knickers that are two sizes bigger than my usual size. They're the low rise short type from M&S. I've also bought some maternity mats from Boots that I might sleep on just in case I leak (or to sit on in the car if I'm leaking on the way to the hospital)

Margo34 · 24/08/2020 00:18

Right then big knicker full briefs shopping online for me tomorrow! Thank you @flameprincess and @liquoricecravings!

I was wondering about bed mats or the like too @liquoricecravings, that was going to be my next question! How to save the mattress should water's break at night or from leaking. Will add them to my shopping list 😊

Ordering our pushchair tomorrow, finally! I wasn't going to include a bassinet (for cost and lack of storage reasons) but my mother suggested using it for downstairs naps so that's what we're intending to do now @flameprincess we haven't bothered with a moses basket either.

Sara7455 · 24/08/2020 02:04

@MooseWL yes to genuinely big high waisted pants! Mine didn’t arrive until a few days after my section due to lockdown post so I can confirm they’re way comfier than having a normal waistband rubbing the scar area!

Ladies using the bassinet for day naps- not likely a problem unless we have another heatwave but we were using ours and the nurse pointed out to be careful as they are designed to protect from the elements rather than to be breathable like a wicker Moses basket or the next to me with their mesh sides so they can get a bit toasty inside. She was right - when it was boiling the other week he was definitely more comfortable sleeping anywhere but the bassinet. British summer being what it is though I wouldn’t have thought that will be an issue again this year!

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 05:38

@Margo34 I'v got baby lo snug for downstairs. £69 on Smyth's. It's bigger than a Moses basket.

emma278 · 24/08/2020 06:08

Just back from the hospital after being checked out as babys movements slowed yesterday then i woke up at 4 and couldnt feel baby at all. thankfully all was fine. Still barely feeling movements now... wonder if baby has dropped or moved so thst movements have changed from before. Havent had a bum in the air in over a day now xx

moonriver32 · 24/08/2020 07:18

@emma278 I was in for reduced movement yesterday too! Barely felt a thing all day despite all the usual tricks. Triage was incredibly busy as well so perhaps there was something in the air yesterday! All fine on the monitor and typically as soon as I got home, moving around as normal. Missed my Sunday roast but the main thing is all okay. Glad yours was too!

Chanel05 · 24/08/2020 08:03

@Lorna198 you'll be meeting your baby soon!!

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 08:11

Glad those with reduced movements are ok, less room for our little ones now!!!

@Lorna198 soooo excited for u xx

Laura1348 · 24/08/2020 08:14

@Lorna198 how exciting?!

I'm waiting for the call to go and be induced... we'll rods put in...😬🙈

MooseWL · 24/08/2020 08:20

@margo34 that's great news about your husband 😊 are you still going down the route with the union about your job?

As long as the baby has somewhere to sleep it won't matter that the nursery isn't finished! We've also got a leaky roof in the nursery and 2 people were meant to be coming round to give quotes last week but neither turned up which is reallly frustrating as I just want it sorted!

I still haven't packed my hospital bag either and @lilice also have visions of me ending up doing it in labour! I need deadlines to motivate me 😂

@laura1348 good luck with the induction! Try and stay relaxed and hope you progress well! Xx

sianyflewog · 24/08/2020 08:40

@MooseWL Why don’t you say you’ll do your bag by the tine you turn x weeks (say 37)?

Laura1348 · 24/08/2020 08:55

@MooseWL
Thank you very much

OrDis · 24/08/2020 09:01

Feeling very 🤢 this morning. Just like in the first trimester!! Ugh.

Can’t remember who asked but i’ve also been struggling with carpel tunnel. I wake up most mornings with completely dead arms and have to shake them vigorously for 5 mins to get them to wake up again. Funnily enough, DH slept in the spare room last night because we were both uncomfortable (and I take up 3/4 of the bed now with my pregnancy pillow lol) and this morning was the first time in ages i’ve woken with non-numb arms! Probably because I could really stretch out in the night!

OrDis · 24/08/2020 09:02

Good luck with the induction @Laura1348

ShiningStarz · 24/08/2020 09:07

It was me @OrDis both my hands were totally numb this morning, I had to hand my arms off the bed and that seemed to do the trick!!!!
When are you guys being induced? Which week?
I'm booked in at 40 weeks but have a feeling due to my heart issues it'll be 39 weeks. (I'm 38 on wed).

Lilice · 24/08/2020 09:39

Good luck today @Laura1348 how exciting , might be 2 new babies in this group today 💕

Margo34 · 24/08/2020 09:56

@MooseWL the union said I could take it further but it will be a long drawn out and stressful process and I'd need to be really clear what I want to achieve from doing it eg still have a job there, which in all honesty I don't want as I don't want to work somewhere discriminatory and where they're happy to breach contracts. I've decided now is not the time to induce ridiculous stress it would all entail that I could otherwise avoid, and I would in all liklihood lose a reference from them too for future jobs elsewhere as well if I did pursue it. It does feel like I'm letting them off the hook though which doesn't sit well but I've got other things to put first like baby so it's probably a sensible decision. And at least I can forget about it, put it behind and look forwards to other things.

It's so frustrating when trades people don't show like that! Our house has been like picadilly circus for trades people, they all have different suggestions what is causing our leak! We had one repair done last week but then it rained this week and it still managed to get in so I guess that rules out that repair! Oh well!

@ShiningStarz and @OrDis I wake up with ridiculous pins and needles every day at the moment and need to hang both arms off the bed to get rid of them, hadn't occured to me it might be pregnancy related 🤔... Off to Google carpal tunnel....

Smilymami · 24/08/2020 10:55

@Lorna198 Good luck to you. So so exciting, we'd have a new baby on this thread today. So exciting
I'm feeling ready now.. there's barely any space left in my belly.. legs, bum and hands poking out everywhere. Bump deviating to the direction I'm lying down.. woke up this morning with literally the whole bump on the left and nothing on the right.
I have been getting the morning sickness again from about 36weeks...sigh.. it makes me feel so unwell. It's been a long ride..
