Turns out I can't spell carousel 😜

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 07:07

Yep @MooseWL was actually thinking of getting a really good bottle of red in!! As soon as I'v enough breast milk collected for a days worth of feeds, I'm all over that bottle, ok maybe glass!! Prob half glass!! I just hope I haven't lost the taste for it 😱

Lazydaisydaydream · 22/08/2020 07:28

@ShiningStarz don't worry you don't need a whole day of milk to have a drink, usually they recommend waiting about two hours after a drink before feeding, and there's no need to "pump and dump" either as alcohol works it's way out of your milk the same way it does your blood. So have some wine and enjoy it haha.

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 07:59

Whoooop @Lazydaisydaydream Youv made my day!!!! Must get a nice bottle of Rioja bought 😋😋

sianyflewog · 22/08/2020 08:24

@ShiningStarz You won’t have! I’m already looking forward to when Harry’s in bed tonight as I have a bottle of wine (de-alcoholised) in the fridge, and I can’t wait for a bottle of Chablis once this ones born!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 22/08/2020 09:09

Sorry as I know this has been asked but what syringes did people get for colostrum if they bought them online and not from the midwife (they don’t store them apparently) thank you

WillowT · 22/08/2020 09:12

@MooseWL I can't believe it's 10 days till Sept! I have one week left of work then taking couple of weeks annual leave before mat leave starts!

Re drinking and breastfeeding...you can drink. Apparently it's best to have a glass while feeding as then it would have worked thru your body by the next feed. Also, I was told if you can legally drive, it's fine to feed. However, we were warned that it doesn't take a lot to get drunk after 9 months!! Looking forward to a glass of wine or gin but plan is just to stick to one while breastfeeding!

Exciting to hear about getting all the stuff ready! I've started the washing and whilst the furniture is up, still need to sort out the room!

Happy weekend everyone!!

moonriver32 · 22/08/2020 09:36

I keep meaning to hop on this thread but it seems so established I keep bottling it Grin I'm 38 weeks today, due on 5th September - my body is ready to not be pregnant anymore but my brain is definitely not ready to be a parent! Marking my place so that I can watch all the little ones arrive soon!

OrDis · 22/08/2020 10:02

Hi @moonriver32 welcome! The thread moves quick but your always welcome to join! I agree about feeling done with being pregnant but brain not being ready for parenting. I keep running through what if scenarios in my head ‘what if baby won’t latch’, ‘what if she won’t be put down to sleep’ ‘what if she just cries and cries’ ‘what do I dress her in so she isn't to warm/cold’ ugh- but I guess we are just never going to know how they are going to be until they arrive!!! Just going to have to go with it!!

I also can’t believe there is pretty much a fully grown baby inside me now and I have to birth it in less than a month!! I mean I know HOW it will happen but I just still can’t quite believe that it’s actually GOING TO HAPPEN lol! I mean how is my tiny body going to fit that out of it 🤣🤣🤣

Ang3113 · 22/08/2020 10:05

Can I join in too please? 38+2 and becoming very impatient haha. So reassuring reading this thread and seeing others feeling the same as me/having the same questions 😂

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 10:09

Haha @sianyflewog once our little ones are born, we'll be discussing wine and cocktail and all things alcohol!!! Lol I actually haven't missed drinking but I do love a glass of red in front of the fire in my cosy dressing gown come the colder weather.. bliss.

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee the ones I got from my midwife are also on amazon, they are purple ones. Just search colostrum syringes and they should come up.

@WillowT hehe I think a half glass will probably do me lol

Welcome @moonriver32 this is a fab thread! So supportive. I'm due on the 9th and getting induced on the 9th. Eeeek not long to go. Are you all sorted? Do you have everything out and ready to go?

@OrDis I'm completely freaking out too!! This morning at 430 it was in my head about size 0/1 nappies and I couldn't get back to sleep arghhhh
Super excited tho too 💜 can't wait to know if it's a little pink or blue 😊

sianyflewog · 22/08/2020 10:15

@ShiningStarz You wil be fine with your size 1 nappies! H didn’t even wear those very long before we moved to size 2, but he was 7.14 born, and I found that he was better moving up to the next size as soon as hit the lower size boundary or he would leak x

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 10:19

That's good to know @sianyflewog hopefully I'll sleep tonight knowing I'm well prepared with nappies 🤣🤣🤣 it'll probs be something else by 430am tomo
Morn !!!! 🙈🙈

Sara7455 · 22/08/2020 10:48

Welcome @moonriver32 and @Ang3113 very exciting that all the babies are nearly here now!

@ShiningStarz you’ll definitely be fine without size 0 - Wren has been in those since he weighed around 2lb8 - they looked massive then but he’s 4lb12 now and they fit perfectly so I reckon for a regular sized term baby it would be a waste getting them.
Very exciting you’re getting the snuzpod set up! I love ours, haven’t actually strapped it to the bed so far though because it’s handy to be able to rock it if he’s fussy after a night feed.

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 11:03

Thank you @Sara7455 aww little Wren seems to be doing so well. How are you finding it all?? I can't quite believe there is going to be a baby in the clothes, snuz pod, bath etc!!! Think iv bought all these baby items without the realisation of an actual baby!!!! 🙈🤣

Sara7455 · 22/08/2020 11:43

@ShiningStarz he is doing really well thanks! Nurse and HV want him growing quicker than he is but apart from that everyone is really happy with him. We’re doing ok having him home - very lucky that OH is really hands on tbh though. These tiny people are very demanding!
I know what you mean about getting all the stuff without necessarily linking it to an actual baby - it’s so great when they’re home in those things though. Still not over waking up in the morning to his little face 😊

liquoricecravings · 22/08/2020 11:52

@ShiningStarz we've set up our bedside crib too and it's odd sleeping next to it. I still can't believe my bump will 'become' a baby in a couple of weeks.

@MooseWL that sounds like a satisfying dream! I ordered my favourite wine in the last food order so it's ready in the cupboard. The days are going so quickly now - I'm a teacher so I'd usually have the back to school feeling now. It's a good feeling to keep reminding myself I'm not going back soon.

@Carouselfish Hi! How are you feeling?

@moonriver32 Hi! I'm with you - I don't know how the baby can find anymore space to grow in there now. She/he feels so tightly packed in. @OrDis I feel the same, I know there's a baby in there, but I won't believe it until I see my little one come out!

@Ang3113 Hi! I'm due on the 9th. I've started counting the days down now as it's so close - though it makes me panic a little and I keep going through what we've got in case we've missed anything. I'm ordering some night lights this weekend.

flameprincess · 22/08/2020 12:00

Hi everyone! I've popped in and out the thread but lost track somewhere along the line. Marking my place again and excited to see some arrivals Smile I'm due 25th Sept and despite my GD they have provisionally booked my section for the 22nd as so far sugars and growth have been normal. Managed to control with diet so far but it's getting so hard now, I didn't have much appetite the rest of the pregnancy but the last fortnight I've just been absolutely ravenous. I wake up at 4-5am with hunger pangs, DP has stocked my bedside table with snacks Blush

DS is 12 on 24th Sept so I'm going to probably be in hospital for his birthday which really sucks Sad I've really spoilt him this year though (my guilt has made me buy him a bloody 4K TV) and he's already had a day out paintballing and lunch with his friends for an early celebration, and we have been doing lots of little day trips together to make the most of it being just us - going to a cat cafe just before he starts secondary school and he rinsed me for posh Paperchase stationary for school last week.

I've a week of work left, taking my time off slightly earlier as I have two weeks annual leave to use up and I'm so grateful because this last week has been such a slog. Like a previous poster said I've had to take nap breaks in the day and I'm hardly being productive. Just ready to go now.

annie1994 · 22/08/2020 12:54

I agree with you all on feeling fed up of being pregnant!! I’m 38+4 and am starting to struggle walking as everytime I lift my left leg I get a pain in the left side of my groin... very uncomfortable. I’ve put it down to baby being on a nerve/ pelvic girdle pain 🤔 I find this waiting around is making me more nervous about labour, having a newborn etc 😳

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 13:48

@Sara7455 i could have cried reading your msg. I touch my tummy as soon as I wake in bed, I know I'll prob keep doing that when little one is lying next to me !! Can't wait now 💜

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 13:50

@liquoricecravings we have the same due date!! I ordered Argos pack of 2 night lights, they were under £7 for a twin pack. My parents already had them in their house and they are fab. They are not motioned controlled though, they are on all the time but nice low lighting enough to see but ok to sleep. I'v one in bedroom and the other in nursery for nighttime nappy changes x

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 13:53

@flameprincess I have GD too, my diet is good but they started me on a little insulin.
Growth and all is also fine. I'm booked in for induction on my due date due to the GD.

Emmy2020 · 22/08/2020 14:05

Lying on the sofa and baby is moving like crazy! My whole tummy is moving around 😊

MooseWL · 22/08/2020 19:32

@flameprincess at least with section your baby won't share birthday with your son... Would that have gone down well?! I'm due 25th but my birthday is 23rd and everyone is convinced he'll come on my birthday. I don't want to share cakes for the rest of my life 🤣
@sara7455 do you keep the side up on the snuzpod at night then? I can't decide whether to strap it to the bed or just have it reallly close but with the side up!

Loving all the wine enabling 😂 need to get some in haha

LatteLover12 · 22/08/2020 19:37

Getting more and more excited reading all these messages ladies! It's beginning to feel real now!

DP and I are still in the throws of decorating but this time next week it will all be done & the cot/snuzpod will be up!

I get the date for my section on Friday too - eek!

I've walked way to far today so I've sat down in front of the TV with no plans to move again anytime soon. DP is upstairs glossing a door frame, poor bugger!
