@MooseWL yes I keep the side up - think it’s only safe to have the side down if you have it attached? We might attach it later on if he gets needier about contact when he’s napping but for now it’s side up and nearby so I can rock him to sleep. I like that they’re so versatile with these options!

flameprincess · 22/08/2020 19:45

@MooseWL haha no it wouldn't have gone down well it's already pretty much the 'end of the world' that he has to share his birthday 'month' I think the day would push him over the edge

@ShiningStarz what made them move you to insulin did you have any numbers over the targets or are they just being precautionary? So strange how different each area does things! I would actually prefer to have medication tbh I wouldn't have to stress so much about my numbers

MooseWL · 22/08/2020 19:48

Yeah @sara7455 I think you have to have the side up if it's not attached! But good to have the options! We really need to sort our bedroom out and get set up! Still not ordered a new mattress for our bed!

Can't believe some of you are 38 weeks! I predict a few more babies next week for sure!

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 20:00

@flameprincess my targets are less than 5.3 before meals and less than 7.8 1hr post meal.
I literally test about 14 times a day!! I don't snack unless I'm under 5.3 and my snack would be a slice of melon, an apple with almond butter / almonds / a homemade scone lol!! I miss chocolate !!! I'm pretty strict.

My fasting numbers were so good for about 4 weeks and then started creeping up so they put me on the overnight insulin which helps with morning number, it's around 4.6 now. After dinner it's always around 7.5, sometimes over 8.0. I'm
Only on 2 units with meals.

I don't think I'v lost weight but if it wasn't for the GD I'd defo be at least 1-2 stove heavier by now!! Do you think it's helped with maintaining your weight too?

UrsulaSings · 22/08/2020 20:21

Hi everyone, hope you're all alright!

I am booked in to be induced on 1st sept at 39+1 as baby measured 8lb at my scan at 37+3 and fluid level has gone up to 9.6cm. I also have GD but despite all my levels being ok he still seems to have piled the weight on!!

Had 2 sweeps - one on thurs and one today, and having another one on wednesday. Trying to get things going to avoid induction! Had some braxton hicks but nothing much apart from that!

Fantastic news though, as of Tuesday, my hospital is allowing birth partners to visit the antenatal and postnatal wards from 12 - 4pm!! I was so relieved when they told me I nearly cried! Been so scared at the thought of being on my own while being induced or afterwards.

@LatteLover12 my DP is also currently doing some last minute glossing while I'm on the sofa! Feel terribly guilty, but offered to make him a cup of tea or food and he said he's fine!

Planning on putting up the next to me cot in the next few days.

flameprincess · 22/08/2020 20:34

@ShiningStarz I've lost half a stone from my booking in weight but I think it's less down to the GD and more that my appetite was so bad for 1st and 2nd trimester. Also not drinking red wine!

@UrsulaSings so happy your trust are allowing partners now! My area is but with another 4 weeks to go and us being on the 'watch list' for another lockdown I'm feeling really edgy that it will change again.

ShiningStarz · 22/08/2020 20:38

Hey @UrsulaSings I have my fingers and toes crossed for you that things will start naturally on their own before the 1st sept :) 🤞🤞
I'm booked in for induction 9th sept, I'v only been offered 1 sweep on 2nd sept as they believe risk of introducing infection is too high to give me another weeep. I'v read so many stories about ladies being offered multiple sweeps and im a bit disappointed.

glasha87 · 22/08/2020 20:54

Hello ladies!

Is anyone experiencing nausea? I’m getting little waves on and off - I’m unsure if it’s due a stressful week or it’s the norm at this stage in pregnancy (36+2). I threw up this morning - deeply unpleasant! 😷

Booked in for a section on the 14th 😬 Due on the 17th. It’s all so surreal. I’ve done it before but it’s been so long I may as well not have. First section too after a pretty uneventful (and fast!) induction with DD1!

@flameprincess my daughter turns 12 on the 19th! The guilt, I know it so well! I had a cerclage placed too, so I was pretty much on modified bedrest from 13-28 weeks - we couldn’t get up to our usual adventuring, making it doubly hard.

emma278 · 22/08/2020 21:15

Hi all, hope all ok! Anyone else struggling with swollen feet? Mine seemed to have ballooned last few days. BP fine and drinking loadssss of water but just cant seem to get them down!! 😩 xx

Laura1348 · 22/08/2020 21:16

Lovely to read how everyone is doing and how much closer it's getting.

I just wondered how many people have next to me beds..
I've put mine up but not sure if we attach or not or what???🤔🤔

Thanks

LatteLover12 · 22/08/2020 21:28

Ha, must be the night for it @UrsulaSings 😀

My hospital have decided DP can come back and visit me and baby for 1 hour per day that I'm in!

flameprincess · 22/08/2020 21:57

@glasha87 ah so not just me with a huuuge gap. Yep the guilt is real! I just keep repeating myself at him that it's 'only this year' and next year won't be so disruptive Blush

I'm getting the nausea again too - I've noticed its linked to the bad heartburn with me so if I get one I get the other.

Carouselfish · 22/08/2020 23:18

Hi guys, relating to a lot of what you're saying. Very active baby, very breathless me, trying to organise the house so everything sorted as no idea what I'll feel like after a section! Got a next to me but can't decide where I'm sleeping. My dds bedroom is downstairs so might switch with her as have heard stairs tough in early days post op?

Carouselfish · 22/08/2020 23:22

Oh and also same here with baby measuring on small side. Another growth scan booked as went from twentieth to tenth centile. Me and DP are both six feet tall so seems strange to me. Maybe no bearing on it...

liquoricecravings · 22/08/2020 23:55

@glasha87 I've been feeling sick tonight. I bought some ice creams earlier and really wanted to have one but I've felt too nauseous to risk it.

@ShiningStarz the night light will also go in the nursery for nighttime nappy changes and another in our bedroom or on the landing. It's all getting very exciting now Smile

Emmy2020 · 23/08/2020 07:25

@flameprincess I’ll have a huge gap too, I have two daughters one is 14 and one is 11!

@Laura1348 I have a next 2 me magic not put it up yet as it’s at my mums. I think I will attach it if I can although I have a divan bed do not sure how easy it is to do compared to a normal bed?

Felt sick all evening yesterday, bit of heartburn too which doesn’t help. Woke up feeling okay but starving, now feel a bit sick again as I think I ate breakfast too fast!

ShiningStarz · 23/08/2020 08:07

Anyone here have the carpal tunnel syndrome that is brought on in pregnancy.
For past few weeks I'v been waking few times in night unable to feel my fingers and I'm shaking my hand vigorously to get the blood back into them. It's a scary feeling but I'v read its common. Will ask
Midwife on wed at what could be my last appt!!! Eeeek

moonriver32 · 23/08/2020 08:25

Thanks everyone!

@OrDis - I'm exactly the same with the 'what if' scenarios, even though you can't plan for anything cos who knows what sort of baby they'll be! Doesn't stop me constantly overthinking though Grin

@ShiningStarz - yep, everything is bought and ready - we officially have nothing left to buy! So we're "ready" in that sense, just wish my brain would catch up. I really don't think it's going to feel real until this baby is out - at 38 weeks I'm still struggling to connect the huge bump with there being an actual baby in there 😂

Doesn't help that we've kept the sex a surprise either so it's hard to imagine them if that makes sense!

Need to get the Snuzpod in place next to the bed but finding it so hard to get in and out of bed at the moment that going to leave it last minute to avoid yet another obstacle!

WillowT · 23/08/2020 09:15

@ShiningStarz yes, I have that! At first I thought I was just sleeping on it funny but then realised it was pregnancy related! I have a midwife app this week too so was going to mention it!

Piper1879 · 23/08/2020 10:39

@emma278 my feet have been awful so a few times a day I put them in a bowl of cool water for a couple of hours. Still can't wear anything but flip flops but their not as puffy 😭

glasha87 · 23/08/2020 11:36

I think my feet are the only part of me that are okay at the moment! I’ve had to shelve my rings though for fear I’d cut off circulation/would have to get them cut off - glamour!

@flameprincess, that’s a good mantra and very true, sometimes life - quite literally - just happens and plans curtailed. There’s another mum on here with an 11 year ago gap too - @HugeAgeGap! Funny the amount of mums with an eleven year gap that are due in September!

I was speaking with a doctor friend yesterday who said that morning sickness can re-emerge after 35 weeks 🧐

@liquoricecravings I feel your pain 😫 My fiancé is a chef and they were experimenting in the kitchen yesterday - he came home with loads of amazing creations their pastry chef made and I couldn’t even look at them. So cruel 😂 I’m not too bad this morning, maybe I could have some as a second breakfast 😄

glasha87 · 23/08/2020 11:46

@Carouselfish, I really wonder how accurate those growth scans are.
I’ve been scanned a lot this pregnancy and they also tend to check her growth when doing so.
If one measurement is slightly off it can skew things. At one scan she couldn’t get a proper leg measurement but still went and estimated baby as being on the 17th centile (maybe lower) but since then other sonographer have said she’s around the 60th. So I’d really take it with a pinch of salt. Even if that was an accurate measurement, 10th is still within the normal range! It’s such an inexact science.

Emmy2020 · 23/08/2020 11:54

I’ve just been sick about 7 times in a row, was horrible because nothing came up apart from the aspirin and squash I’d drunk 🙁 It made me so shaky. I’d just had my aspirin which I have to take daily and was sick about 5 mins after. I haven’t been sick from taking it before but haven’t felt well since yesterday evening.

LatteLover12 · 23/08/2020 11:55

Another one with a huge age gap here too...

My boys are 13 and 8! I must be mad 🥴😂

Lilice · 23/08/2020 11:58

@emma278 @Piper1879 I also have swollen feet and ankles, in fact i think it's my whole legs now and probably my face as well and my hands. I have a bad case of water retention. I went to the hospital last week to check for clots. Im ringing the midwife and gp tomorrow to get some compression stockings. Normally I'd go swimming at this stage but I really don't feel it's safe for me to go with covid. I try and put up my feet as much as I can, but now I'm at the stage where I'm waking up already swollen 😭 I've had enough and I'm ready for the baby to come now!!
