NYKate, I haven't been getitng gooey over babies either - I think maybe 6 years of working with under-2's ahs cured me of feeling like that. Hopinmg I will go gooey over my own LO when the time comes...

Had another growth scan duje to dr STILL thinking the bp might be restrictring growth. Latest weight estimate: 7ylb 3oz, at 3 weeks, so there doesn't seem to be much to worry about there!

Am 37 wks this w/end and have to admit it's startign to get to me now. I have lots of admiration for those of you looking after other small children/toddlers, you must be knackered.

AnnainNZ · 11/10/2007 05:42

That's 7lb 3oz at 36 weeks, not 3 weeks!

ChocolateHobnob · 11/10/2007 06:53

Hi all

This thread is so much fun- it moves so fast!

RG, you so make me laugh with your work descriptions. I think you could be in a sort of The Office spin off. Complete with Cake Day and all.

Sarah, just catch up when you can... a lot of it is probably me waffling on too...

Anna, 7 lb 3 sounds pretty good for this stage! I'm 37 weeks and having my breech scan tomorrow - v much hoping to get an idea of how big lo is - do you think that will happen? I'm short and was 5 pounds something when born, DH is medium height and size but was 8 pounds 13 when born. Chances are our lo will be in the middle somewhere, but interesting to know where...

Cape - I felt a bit icky when I saw the 9 and 10 cm dilated circles too. I dont think my pelvic area is that big!!

Well, off to work today - keeping the flag flying at 37 weeks! - but am getting my hair cut this morning (you inspired me FCH) and so will hopefully feel more presentable afterwards. Hopefully! I must say I'm not working to max capacity. I am snacking all the time, daydreaming about lo, and half asleep. Oh well. I am managing the whole email/phone part of work pretty well.

Spent last night on all fours or bouncing on my ball, hopefully. But lo was mad in the night and hiccuped nonstop - the hiccups are now right under my breast, where they had been right in the pelvic area. Hmm.

Have a decent day everyone if you can, aches and pains apart.

JARM · 11/10/2007 07:08

Morning all!

Sorry, havent been about much, been too busy trying keep my cool with 2 toddlers, a house that looks like a bomb has gone off and the benefits system!

Good news though - Baby's room is finished! The only room inthe house, but its done! All blue and cars and stuff! Such a relief after pink pink and more pink!

Ordered my car seat and base from Kiddicare yesterday morning, and guess what! Its being delivered today.... hows that for service!!

Really must get my act together and put together my hospital bag.... i did start to get stuff together, and then gave up! But as one due later in the month, I guess I can get away with another week or so! (33+3 today)

I have now decided I want little man to arrive 1 day late... mainly because DD1's birthday is the 24th of the month in 2004, DD2's birthday is the 25th of the month in 2005, so really DS should be 27th in 2007?! Sorry, amazing what rubbish i think up while lying in bed trying to sleep but not very well!!!

AnnainNZ · 11/10/2007 08:39

Chocolate, hope they give you an idea of LO's size. They can only give an estimate really, sonographer told me it's about +/- 15% accuracy. I am glad she's growing well but am getting a bit about how big she might get! DH was 8lb 7 (ish) when born abd I was 9lb 2 (despite being 5 foot now and a size 10 pre-pg) - tho I was number 4 child in the family so probably a bit easier to get out after 3 previous ones, for my mum.

My sister and brother have already emailed to klet me know their little girls were only 6lb something at full term, so mine already bigger! eek.

Also have 2 friends staying with us, one of them for 5 wks so far, while looking for his own place (ahs just got back from overseas), normally wouldn't bother me but it's been 5 weeks...other one's only been hre a week, but I am really starting to think "I NEED MY HOUSE BACK! TOO TIRED TO DEAL WITH VISITORS". Looks like they may have found place to live which is good as I really don't want my early labour stage to be a spectator sport!

FCH · 11/10/2007 09:08

OK - just going out the door and haven't read anything but had to say "I'M 37 WEEKS". How did that happen?? Where have the last 8 months gone? Am starting to feel a bit nervous...

We are off to mum's for a couple of days and are taking the hospital bag and car seat just in case. Talk about a wake up call!!

AnnainNZ · 11/10/2007 09:25

I know FCH, I can't believe it's gone so quickly. When I see the antenatal threads for "June 2008" I'm all "WHAAAAT? How can that be????"

nykate · 11/10/2007 10:12

Thanks SLM and Anna for letting me know I'm not the only one feeling nervous . I felt similar with DD2 and the moment she was born I was hooked and totally gooey. I'm sure my maternal instincts will kick in...at least until DHs paternity leave is over and I find myself home alone with newborn and 2 young kiddies.Yikes!

iris66 · 11/10/2007 10:50

mum's just left, DH is safely in the air and due home this afternoon (just hope he's not diverted in the fog!) and I've finally got a chance to catch up!

What a busy few days.

ChocolateHobNob - re the constipation. Drink a pint of water every hour or so through the day and eat prunes (dehydration is the biggest cause & by the time you're thirsty you are already dehydrated)

FCH - 37 weeks!! aaagghhhh (that'll be me come Monday!)

RGPargy - the single most annoying thing for me in the early weeks was not being able to settle to sleep when LO did because DD was out somewhere. I don't know about you but I couldn't sleep unless she was safely home. I don't have a solution I'm afraid but just thought I'd pre-warn you that you may worry more about him too when LO arrives.

JARM - am of your completed nursery. We haven't got a spare room so the room this one will end up in will depend on the flavour!

GeekinPigtails - I could never find any scratch mits that were big enough so used socks (who's going to notice!) As Loopy said, baby nails are a nightmare to trim - especially as they get older/stronger. I accidentally "nail clipped" the end of DS' finger once - I don't know who cried more, me or him and the amount of blood!!

Jossiejump - my LO went sideways last week for a couple of days (very uncomfortable)but is back head down now (I'm 36 weeks and only 5'3) I don't think they start worrying until you hit 37/38 weeks and if LO seems to be stuck there. Your MW will start making noises if there are any concerns I'm sure.

Loopymumsy - awww at your DD staying in bed when her duvet fell off. She is well trained, bless her

LizzieO - I feel for you with the cold - there are some hideous bugs doing the rounds at the mo aren't there. My cold is only just clearing after 2 weeks. I had such bad sinus pain I ended up using one of those baby nasal aspirators filled with saline & squirting up my nose a few times each day just to give some relief (it worked really well by the way) and steam.

Well, best go & get something done whilst DS is at nursery as only days to do now. Oh, forgot to say, I'm being induced on 25th Oct because of being on insulin. It is soooo wierd having a date (I guess all of you who are having CS have already gone through the shock thing) The Obs consultant was lovely (she's been really sympathetic)and whispered "just go and have lots of sex, you might easily go naturally as it's your 3rd" Needless to say, DH grudgingly agreed to comply when I told him last night (poor bloke hasn't seen any action for weeks, possible even months - I can't remember ) Sooooooooooo, hope you're all ok with me staying on the Nov thread?

Have a good one all .....{skips off happily to primp and polish ready for DH's arrival}

littleoldme · 11/10/2007 10:51

Morning all.

Jarm - I'm in the same state re hospital bag. Don't feel I organise organise my brain to sort it at the mo.Next week's job I think.

Choc - hope they can give you idea of the size and that your bouncing works. I really don't want to know how big mine is; he's still got to come out
For those of you still at work and not feling motivated - RG! Try
this game it is hoplessly addictive. My record is five.

choudru · 11/10/2007 11:07

Good morning all,

FCH - Well done on reaching 37 weeks! I'll join you in the 37 week club tomorrow unless I give birth in the nexgt 24 hours. I have been carrying my hospital bags everywhere I go for weeks now. And don't worry about your hair - it looks fine from here

Little - Eid is on friday or saturday so we can meet up next week?

Loopy - don't blame us for you wanting a Wispa. It's the power of the Wispa. I'm going to have another one in a minute.

DH is home today to help out with DS as my cold has set in good and proper. He (DH not DS) keeps looking over my shoulder to read up on the thread. Cheeky.

Have to go now although I haven't caught up with you all properly. Have a MW appointment in 30 mins and I haven't had a shower yet. We're supposed to be discussing birth plan today so I will tell her I do NOT want to be continuously monitored.

Speak to you later people.

OP posts:
littleoldme · 11/10/2007 11:17

Choudru - hope the appt goes well. Next week would be great for a meet up. I'll e-mail you
Happy Eid.

Hers=e's a little something to tickle yer funnbones.

Why did George Michael have chocolatey face?

C'os he was careless with his wispa. ( See what I did there? )

LizzieO · 11/10/2007 11:49

this is what i mean....only posted yesterday pm and already shed loads to catch up on

Cold still proper stinkin, and DS altho;' full of beans still v.snotty. I actually managed half decent sleep last night , only getting up 3 times for wee (once was to get DH some aspirin cos he had pains in chest, and convinced it was heart attack....bless) he has also now come home from work due to stinkin cold.

Sparklygothkat - i will e-mail you in a mo

Geek - i never used scratch mits, i used a little nail file instead to keep sharp bits of nails

NYKATE - OMG - if it makes you feel any better one of the mums at my nursery has three kids under 3, she reckons that it was far more of a shock to the system going from 1 to 2, than it was 0 to 1, and 2 to 3. Sorry i don't know your circumstances, do you have any help during the week, is your oldest at nursery or anything, if not would that could be an option, or maybe a couple of aternoons or mornings at a private childminder, tho i know this will involved some expense

IRIS66 - oh my goodness how exciting, the 25 October, thats not long is it

Chocolate-Hob-Nob - hope they can moved baby around again, will be good to see it on scan again. I notice that you are down as 'SUPRISE' are you gonna be tempted to find out

FCH - its always a bit of a shock to the system when you get a completely new hairdo, when i was preg with DS i got all my hair cut short (not had it short since school) i really liked it but DH wasn't too keen. Anyway i bet you look luuuuvverely , and if you still not happy with it, it will grow (and quicker when your not preggers) so you will probably grow into another new style which you will like better

have good days peeps...ps whats meant to be happening to the Indian Summer this week, in Surrey its like pea soup

sarahloumadam · 11/10/2007 12:43

LOL LizzieO my DH got me up at 2 o'clock the other morning convinved he had appendicitis - turns out to be trapped wind !

Pixiefish · 11/10/2007 12:47

Off to see the obstertician this aft. Should hae had a scan before today- the reg I saw 2 weeks ago said I should have one but the date came through for nexrt week and I just forgot to change it.
Am in agony with this spd.
Catch you all later

iris66 · 11/10/2007 13:13

littleoldme - lol at the joke

Pixiefish - good luck with your appointment about your SPD

all the best fro the 25th iris, my DD2's birthday is 25th October! (She will be 2)

A word of warning about induction though - i was take in on the thursday night for indiction with DD1 and she didnt arrive until early saturday morning! Just so you are aware it may not happen all that quick!

My only advice would be lots of mags and sleep as much as possible, my DH stayed with me (even though he shouldnt have) and he was the one sleeping on the bed, not me!

JARM · 11/10/2007 14:21

Loopy - i feel the same! I will have a 3.4yr old and 2.1yr old come EDD.... and the girls are a handful enough at the moment! Hoping having a tiny baby in the house will calm them down a bit - will enforce they need to be QUIET at all times!!! HAHAHA - more likely i will be sat rocking in a corner somewhere until the men in white coats come and fetch me!

Loopy - I'm still in denial that it's ever going to happen

Kayla - I'd forgotten you were having your CS on that date woohoo - babies 2 and 3 on their way eh!

Sparkly - as you popped first you'll have to do the honours and open a Nov post natal thread for all the early birds

iris66 · 11/10/2007 14:33

JARM - thanks for that - I think lol. I was induced last time (syntocinon) so stories of gel not working are a bit dominant in my mind atm - I'll be trying the more pleasurable and natural induction techniques well before then don't worry

sparklygothkat · 11/10/2007 14:52

should I open the nov postnatal thread now then??

Anyway, its sunny here atm and Callum is sleeping in his basket in front of the window, seems so wrong to put him in bright light, but if it keeps him out of hospital, then so be it. We registered his birth yesterday so he is offical ours!!

iris66 · 11/10/2007 15:03

DH not home yet maybe in the morning [hopeful emoticon]

I'd forgotten all about registering them! Callum's legally here now! yay I'm so pleased he's doing well. How are your other DC's with him?

sarahloumadam · 11/10/2007 15:12

We need more pictures Sparkly to fuel our baby-habit! Glad he is home and doing so well.
