Hope you are feeling better today, think you are entitled to be feeling weepy after all you have been through! Chucking a mental in your direction .

sparklygothkat · 29/09/2007 14:24

i hate engorgment, never had with DS1 as he was bf from the start, but with the DDs and now Callum, they were tubefed so I got very sore. Am sitting here with my electric pump on my boobs, have already expressed 100ml and it still going

Pixiefish · 29/09/2007 15:30

sorry bout the engorgement sgk- but fab news if he's home in a week eh

thelady · 29/09/2007 16:10

littleoldme: I'm just coming out the other side of a 2-week stinker of a cold.

Things that helped:

  • hot drinks (mostly lemon & honey)
  • halls original cough sweets
  • wrigleys airwave gum (horrid stuff, but worked)
  • Kleenex balsam tissues
  • hot showers

I wasn't allowed decongestant either & GP said only to worry if your temperature started fluctuating after the first few days of the cold or you got a bad sinus headache. Apparently that's signs of a secondary infection (chest or sinus) and time for antibiotics.

Hope you feel better soon.

Easywriter · 29/09/2007 18:11

Olbas oil is pretty amazing, spriknkle on the edges of your pillow before you go to sleep, it doesn't shorten the length of your cold but it pretty much takes the symptoms away.

sparklygothkat · 29/09/2007 18:15

The hospital just phoned me. Callum has jaundice and has gone back into an incubator and having phototherapy.

Easywriter · 29/09/2007 18:40

Sorry to hear that Sparkly. Does this mean he will be in hospital much longer (sorry, I don't really understand what jaundice is, how serious it is and how recovery goes).
Keep positive hon, we both know that he's in the best place if he's poorly and he'll be out to you as soon as he can.

Hi everyone!

Well i had a good night's sleep last night and feel so much brighter today, thank goodness!! Despite waking up several times during the night, it was nice not having to worry about the alarm going off soon. I think that's what helped me enormously. I woke up at 9.40am, which was lovely. Sorry for being a mizzog yesterday ladies!

Sparkly - sorry to hear that Callum has suffered a set back. Thankfully it's only a minor one, eh? Sorry also to hear about you being uncomfortable and have been weepy. Think you're entitled to have a good bawl tho - you've been through so much you poor thing! hope you feel better soon! big hugs.

Silk - hope your BP and protein get sorted out soon. At least you only have 5 days left at work. Is your work stressful? Hopefully once you've left, your BP at least will comem down a bit eh?

Sarah - I've only got 2 1/2 weeks left at work and one of those days i've got off for a MW appointment so it's really that bad. i think i was feeling like a bit of a drama queen yesterday coz i was just soooo tired. 13 working days left to go - including my MW day off. Not too bad really

re the lady garden - i've kept my waxing appointments with my lady through the whole of my pg. I'm very proud! I did notice tho that when i had it done on thursday, it did hurt more than usual. But as you've said, it's probs because it uber sensitive down there atm and because the uterus is hard and pushed out etc (IYKWIM). My lady also asked me if it was ok and i had to say to her that i didn't have a clue and that DP checks it for me lol. I was still opting for the Brazillian too, which also means turning over and erm.... ahem..... sticking your bum up. I have no idea how i managed to do that on Thursday lol. Still, that's the last appointment for a while now. Best get the old clippers out for "maintenance" in the meantime LMAO!!

littleoldme - hope your cold gets better soon. They can make you feel so run down, cant they. Just as well you're not a bloke or you wouldn't have a cold - you'd have "man flu" and you'd be on your death bed and off work. You know what men are like.

Ara - PMSL at your DP thinking he had to deliver the baby!! Hope you get your leg cramps sorted out soon too. Thankfully i'm not suffering myself - YET! Get necking those bananas girlie!! Also, it might help if you get some "Lo Salt" and use that instead of ordinary salt. You can use it to cook, put on your dinners etc. It's very high in potassium and has been reported to really help with leg cramps.

Floanna - Hmph!! I'm jealous that you've finished work! Lucky thing! What will you be doing with your time now?

Loopy - hope you get the childcare sitch sorted out soon! Why would one of them freak out? Incidentally, i have told DS that if i go into labour while he's in, i'm going to be kicking him out!! I've told him to find a friend's house he can go to in case of such event. Thankfully he confirmed that he'd be legging it out the door if he's in when "it" happens lol. I just hope that it doesn't happen in the middle of the night. Obviously i wont be kicking him out then, but i'll be conscious of waking him up, even if he can sleep through a bomb going off! How weird would that be for him tho - going to bed one night and waking up with a new sister! Wish it was that easy for us ladies! It would be lovely to give birth in our sleep wouldn't it lol.

Hope you're all having a nice relaxing Saturday!

littleoldme · 29/09/2007 20:18

Thanks for all the cold remedies ladies. I've spent most of the day asleep and feel a bit brighter now.

Sparkly - Sending you all lots of love...

Right time to get on. Have alovely rest of the weekend everyone.

KaylaBmummy · 29/09/2007 20:23

Hi Ladies - Just wanted to say hello again, gosh I cant keep up with all the postings they really shoot up within hours but its lovely to read through whats happening with you all, Im sorry for not replying to all discussions and perhaps chatting more but I forget who has said what and I keep flicking back and forward and sometimes delete what Ive started writing, Im crap on the computer . I also think its my PG brain again, but I do love to read and catch up on whats been happening to you all and sympathise with SKG at moment, hope all goes well with Callum and you feel a little better today hun.

RGpargy - Glad your feeling a little better today too.

Also just to say, as I remember I sometimes get the leg cramps but its usually figity legs, I was also told to eat bananas but to also have a milk drink or something with milk before you go to bed as the calcium helps settle them. My MW also said it can be down to being dehydrated so you could try drinking more perhaps .

I am feeling quite good today. Waiting for my date for 37 week c-section to come through post, got loads of info from MN so really positive and DH will be home with me for nearly 3 weeks as his leave and paturnity can be arranged over the 37 week period, so feeling much better. Just cant imagine holding LO in just under 3 weeks I cant wait . Hugs and best wishes to you all .

sparklygothkat · 29/09/2007 20:29

thanks girls at least my milk has come in now and am expressing with gusto (310ml so far today ) Its strange having all his stuff about the house, bottles and sterillier, clothes (already washed some as he is a bit sicky) and yet he isn't here with us.

BunnyBaby · 29/09/2007 20:35

SGK - Callum is gorgeous and made me well up!
Pixiefish - Hope you're feeling better? I was up all night with vomiting and (ahem TMI) other end too. DH was wonderful and after ringing Mum, called doctor who reassured me it was gastroentiritis, with no likely side effects for baby. Luckily I have a really good reflexologist who did an emergncy home visit - so hopefully will get through tonight a lot better than last night. Feel like i've been hit by a truck - baby very active and seems just fine, apart from lack of sleep.

RGPargy · 29/09/2007 22:08

Hope you feel better soon, bunny!

empen · 29/09/2007 22:15

KaylaBmummy - Are you booked for elective csection at 37 weeks. Just wondering why they are doing it at 37 weeks and not later. I have an appt at hospital next week to find out date for section but was under the impresssion I would have to wait until 39 weeks? I would be really excited if they would do it earlier!

aikigypsy · 30/09/2007 04:06

Good evening. Hopefully you're all asleep. I should be soon, too, but it's only 11PM here at the moment.

I got in from the ER an hour ago. Total stupidity. stuck my finger into a blender to clean it out, not realizing it was still plugged in, accidentally hit button... 5 lacerations to the tip of my index finger, 10 stitches and hours, hours in the ER being bored out of my mind.

Fortunately, the LO is going about her business inside, rustling around as usual.

The triage nurse thought my heart rate was a bit high-- 99. Isn't it normally higher in pregnancy? Is 99 a ridiculously fast resting pulse? BP was normal, anyway.

I think I'm pretty tired.

Sparkly -- hopefully the jaundice will clear up soon. I read somewhere that breastfeeding and sunlight also help it. Amazing to think Callum could be home in a week!

off to sleep. Blaming pregnancy brain for my run-in with the blender.

AnnainNZ · 30/09/2007 07:15

Aiki - OUCH . Poor you, I hope your finger recovers quickly. Are you able to have some decent painkillers or are you limited because of being pg? Can you still work - or can you get sick pay if you can't? SOunds HORRIBLE.

Well DH managed to break the cooker top today - electric cooker with a glass top. He was trying to help by doing a big clean up for me, he went to get a bone out of the freezer for the dog, to keep the dog out of the way. Bones all stuck together so he bashed the bag of them against the cooker top to break one off...yes, bashed the bag against the glass cooker top. He then said "Oh dear" in a very surprised tone of voice. I looked over and of course the glass top is all cracked and broken.

I was too upset to even get angry, I just wanted to go and cry for about an hour. And I know that normally I wouldn't get upset about it (well, not that upset) but it just felt like the end of the world. Which of course it isn't, so I told myself to get things in perspective!

AnnainNZ · 30/09/2007 07:24

oh yes, can anyone tell me when your clocks go back in the UK? Ours have just gone forward and I need to know when yours go back, so I get the time difference right when I phone the UK? Ta

fiona76 · 30/09/2007 08:00

End of October normally. So there is a 12 hour time difference for the nxt few weeks. I'm from NZ so I also have to think when I ring my mum and dad. I always make mistakes and ring them at 4 in the morning especially after the clocks change.

Easywriter · 30/09/2007 09:05

Ouch indeed Aiki, poor you!

littleoldme · 30/09/2007 10:06

Aiki - I know we all get weird cravings but a finger smoothie really is taking it a bit too far Hope it feels better soon.

Anna - maybe preggers brain is catching

A question for you ladies: I've been getting bad period type pain - lower back and under bump. Comes in waves and usually lasts a couple of hours. I'm not worried about it but does it sounds like Braxton Hicks? The books I've got are quite vague on the subject

Off to see both sets of parents today. please no more 1940's style bonnets...

Happy Sunday one and all

Floanna · 30/09/2007 10:08

Aiki - OUCH!! That sounds sooooo painful, you poor thing - it's amazing the things pg makes us do isn't it??! Don't know what my brother's excuse was when he 'bet' one of his mates that he could stop the whirring blade of a blender with his finger...

SGK - Sorry to hear about the jaundice - sending lots of positive vibes but I'm sure it's just a small setback. Hope the engorgement starts to balance out soon, big hugs.

RGP - I know, it's a great feeling to be finished! Still think I'll be waking up at 7am every morning though . Don't know what I'm going to do with myself (apart from watch the baby channel!!)

berrybliss · 30/09/2007 11:07

SGK-sorry to hear about Callum, hopefully his condition will improve quickly.

LOM- i had the same pains (usually at night/ late evening) The MW said it was normal, that it was just everything stretching with the baby growing, and it may feel worse if you've had a busy day. She did also say that if the pains got really painful to contact them again. But overall message was not to worry.

Does your bump ever get really tight and hard? i think thats Braxton Hicks (they are ment to be painless)

Anna- clocks change to british winter time on 28th Oct.

aiki- OUCH hope it all heals quickly!

hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday

Pixiefish · 30/09/2007 12:16

Aki- ouch.
