lol Lisa.

The obs reg was a very up herself middle aged woman who has started wittering on about a transfusion (the Haematology consultant who I see is 'happy' with my blood atm as it's fairly ok for me although it's very ery low for anybody else)

She's also insisting on fortnightly scans and weekly midwife visits- This is when the obs consultant is happy with the schedule and also the haematologist is happy with the way things are.

I honestly don't know what she expects the midwife to do- thing is i know what the symptoms are if I get worse and tbh I could just hae a chat on the phone with the midwife without wasting everybody's time

Aha, men cooking, Loopsy! 'Cooking', rather.

Pixie, you're so right: what can the midwife do? And if yours is anything like mine, she has madly busy surgeries anyway!

I didn't manage to cook tonight. DH got back - he's been away for a couple of days with work - and we have just had a Chinese. It was yummy.

Tomorrow I have a 6 hour antenatal class and then guests for dinner, so I felt I needed to chill a bit tonight.

Thanks for the info on the waterbirth, Loopsy - that does make sense!

Fiona, sorry you've not been well too.

Silk - how was it today? Been thinking of you.

silkcushion · 28/09/2007 20:16

Hello All - thanks for the messages.

Mixed news - ctg heart tracing of the baby was normal - they have no idea why it was strange yesterday and will now monitor it a bit more frequently.

My BP is still high but apparently not really worringly so yet, the mw is coming to see me at home on Sunday to check again and then I'm seeing her on Tuesday for another check. Urine sample had protein in it this morning and they think I have a urinary tract infection (yet nothing was picked up in yesterday's sample). Wee is being sent away for further tests which will come back on Monday.

I've got 5 days left in work and have left my boss a message saying I will work from local offices but am not doing any travelling as I need to rest more. Think he will be fine with that.

Went from hospital to NCT all day class. Was very good and interesting. DH said he learnt alot (despite having 2 children already). We're both exhausted and look dreadful - he admitted this evening he hadn't slept last night either as he was so worried. Poor DH he's driving down to Devon now to pick his kids up for the weekend. Won't get home til about 10pm and will be shattered.

Am going to be extra specially nice to him for the next 2 days

silkcushion · 28/09/2007 20:18

Also forgot to say Lisa and SGK - fab photos and montage. Don't need much of an excuse to cry and had tears rolling down my cheeks.

Easywriter · 29/09/2007 05:59

Wow! SO much has happenend during my latest 'sorting out the house' induced absence!

SGK - Congratulations sweetie! What a beautiful boy you have. Well done.

I don't really have anything to say, I just wanted to show my face, say hi to everyone and hello to all the newer posters.

Choudru - Can I have a doughnut too please? I'm very interested in the girdle, I think I may invest!

Nearly missed my MW appointment yesterday, she called me as I was in the bank saying 'Hi Easy, it's 10 o'clock!' I was like 'Great, and you're telling me because...?'. Luckily, I wasn't more than a few mintues from home.
All is well but I am in the foulest of moods with DP (who is probably totally innocent, I can't decide). Never before has one man been in so much trouble! Nothing he does is right. I'm taking his 'crimes' with a pinch of salt as I think it may all be related to my hormones!! And to be fair just over an hour ago he got out of bed to make me a cup of tea and a raspberry leaf tea as he noticed I was awake - normal behaviour for him during this pregnancy. It's me being a bad'un isn't it?

Anyway, hope we all continue to hang in there a little longer.
Later ladies!

Pixiefish · 29/09/2007 07:48

Morning. I'm complaining again- have started being sick before I go to bed- very odd. I'm fine all day until just before I go to bed or just as I'm lying in bed and then it's throw up city.

nykate · 29/09/2007 08:38

Thanks for the advice about what to bring to hospital . I would be so lost without this group!

SLMadam- The rhythmic clicking is prob hiccups. I never put it together until I was monitored with DD1 and a nurse pointed it out. It's funny how often it happens!

Pixiefish- sorry to hear you're feeling ill again. I also have some bouts of nausea now(usually after waking) and it just doesn't seem fair! Hope it's just the baby's position and it changes for the better soon

ELB1 · 29/09/2007 08:56

Oh my!! I have just managed to get over the blubbing from SGK's Montage! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

Please - can anyone tell me the music?

fiona76 · 29/09/2007 09:17

pixie- I have had nausea the past few nights as well just when i get into bed. I have thrown up but have had to sit up and have some deep breaths.

fiona76 · 29/09/2007 09:18

sorry that was meant to say haven't thrown up

jetgirl · 29/09/2007 09:25

Lovely montage Sparkly; showed it to my DD and she was very taken with Callum.

Haven't packed anything for hospital yet, keep thinking I should but just don't seem to get around to it!

Pixie - I'm getting nausea too. Really irritatingly I get it worst when I am on my habds and knees trying to persuade baby to turn around: currently breech and keeps headbutting my ribs!

easy - I think my Dh would sypathise with yours at the mo. I refused to make him his lunch yesterday as he hadn't washed up the night before . he learnt his lesson though and washed up yesterday!

have a good day all x

ara · 29/09/2007 09:51

Hello everyone

CONGRATULATIONS SGK!!! I can't believe it! Well done. Callum's a lovely name - and what a gorgeous family you have.

I have been away scraping and sanding for a couple of weeks in our new house (berrybliss - how are you getting on with yours - sounds like you have a lot to do too! we also have artex everywhere but trying to get a nice plasterer to do us a homer)

Silkcushion - at your story of Mon 24th!! Poor thing - i don't know what i would feel about that---not great really!

TheLady - how funny, I am from Maxton! Live in Edinburgh now though - for another month while we get our new house ready fingers crossed for me everyone!

Everything calmed down with my previous and indignance at poor DP. Turns out he thought i wanted him and him alone to deliver the baby! I laughed out loud at that one - no thanks!! I want someone who knows what they're doing thank you very much!

We had a lovely MW round on Monday who gave me my first anti-d injection (i did it!) and then chatted to us about HB. She thought i was a great candidate and was v encouraging/reassuring and supportive which was great. I finish work at the end of next week -not a moment too soon- and she's going to arrange classes which should calm his shattered nerves a bit!

I have two tiny stretchmarks appearing - one on each side of my belly. truth be told they are just extensions of old ones i already had from when i was a teenager! Been slapping on the bio-oil (ouch expensive) like there's no tomorrow and they seem to have stayed the same for nearly three weeks now.

I have been having nasty heartburn - not great when you're spening a lot of time crouched over sanding the corners of rooms, boo hoo!

Question - is anyone getting leg cramps?? For the first time last night i woke up in complete agony!! Made me cry out this morning! I've never had cramp before but it was like stabbing shooting pains all around my calf muscles - agonising! So assuming that's what it was. Hope that's not going to happen every night, I couldn't stand it - I've only just remedied my v sore bedtime backaches with a massive new pillow two nights ago and along comes something else to disturb my beauty sleep. grr.

Right, must feed the cat and make cup of tea.

Floanna · 29/09/2007 12:55

Morning all!

Silk - Glad to hear are ok. Just try and relax - you deserve it!

I've finished work - yay!!

sarahloumadam · 29/09/2007 13:18

LOL Ara - poor DP, no wonder he was kicking off! Glad everything is sorted now, I bet he wouldn't miss it for the world. My DH has also requested that he is not at the "business end" Also cramps are the worst thing ever but try not to point your toes when stretching in bed/bath and when it happens, grab your foot and flex it towards you. This has worked for me so far. I woke DH up one night gasping in pain and he thought I had gone into labour .

LisaD - gorgeous photos!

RG - what a pain re work. Can't you compromise and just work one more week? I was working from home yesterday (didn't get much done to be honest ) and it was bliss not having to get out of bed and do the commute to work, I feel so much better today.

TMI alert - have had my lady garden seen to today! Was v.painful partly because I think you are more sensitive when pregnant and partly because it has been a long time since I have been brave enough to go. The lady (also preggers!) asked me if the final results were ok and I had to say "i have no idea - I can't see over the bump!" Also going ahead with hair cut later but remembering everyone's wise words about still being able to tie it back. Maybe this is my version of nesting?!

Silk - v.frustrating for you, sure everything is fine and they are being over cautious.

Floanna and NYKate re the clicking noise - don't think it is hiccups because I sometimes feel them. This is a distinct one-off click. Maybe its a rogue hiccup!

sparklygothkat · 29/09/2007 13:24

Hi all, Callum is doing really well. He is tolarating his feeds and is now on 150ml a day. He is still on a heat pad as his temperture is up and down a bit. But he is doing well

sarahloumadam · 29/09/2007 13:32

Fab news Sparkly - any idea when he will be allowed to come home or is it too early to say (excuse my ignorance)?

littleoldme · 29/09/2007 13:42

Sparkly - great news that Callum is doing so well.

Have got a stinking cold and the pharmacist says I can't have decongesant. The aromatherapy man say I can't use my usual oil - any one got any ideas

Sara LOL at your lady garden story.

Ara - yup sounds like cramp I'm afraid. Try drinking lots of milk as it's often c'os of a lack of calcium.

Easy - LOL at you and your DP. I'm a bit like that with mine at the mo and it is completely undeserved.

iris66 · 29/09/2007 13:43

Hi all - just finished a serious 4 hour cooking binge for the freezer (I was going to do your cookies Jetgirl but I've flaked so they'll have to wait until tomorrow - which has taken a little something away from my satisfaction I have to say )

re: leg cramps - not sufering myself thankfully - just get twitchy legs which is irritating but not painful. bananas & milk can sometimes help (extra potassium & calcium)

sparklygothkat · 29/09/2007 14:03

the doctor said today that he has to be taking at least 50% of his feeds from the breast, before they will allow him home, with a tube in place. But she said a week or so

Well yesterday was horrible, my breasts felt like footballs, am still sore 'down there' due to grazing, was very very tearful and couldn't go and see Callum in the evening as was tired. Feel better today, but breasts are very engorged still, am expressing but there is so much milk.
