Hi this thread is for any first timers or anyone really who wants to chat about their imminent arrival and general lack of idea of what to expect!

I realise that there is already an October thread but there seems to be quite a few people who have come a bit late to join in the discussion on there. Hope this doesn't offend anyone

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mine · 20/10/2007 20:49

yeah!! 3 of us.

How are you getting on PG?
My contractions have slowed right down. I was so upset i burst into tears.
I called the hospital, and all they said was that if nothing much happens tonight, i am booked in for an induction at 9am tomorrow morning

Stefka..... glad to hear you spoke to your mum and MF in the end.
How are the pains going??

primigravida · 20/10/2007 21:10

I hope that your contractions pick up in the night so you don't have to go for an induction, Mine.

My contractions are lasting about a minute on average but are still quite irregular. It was interesting when they did a trace at the hospital to see all the different peaks and troughs but quite depressing at the same time as it means that I've still got quite a way to go.

That's good news, Stefka, that yours are getting longer (well not in terms of pain). Can you still talk through them or type through them (as I'm trying to do at the moment)?

Hope that your contractions kick off soon, Dalrymps. Hope that your pizza was good. I used to live in Newcastle but am now down in Manchester.

Dalrymps · 20/10/2007 21:20

Wow 3 of you, it's all go! Yeah the pizza was amazing, te best i've had in ages, almost as good as sex , guess food is my only pleasure at the moment seen as though i can't drink. Hope your contractions speed up again mine, try not to worry, i've heard sometimes that can happen whilst your body gathers energy to carry on, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you, hope stefka and prima are doing ok too,

Collywobbles · 20/10/2007 21:50

Three of you now! That's amazing!

Mine - I hope you don't need that induction.

Not long till you guys get to finally meet your LO's

MrsJoJo · 21/10/2007 15:02

Wow ladies - 3 of you all together... Looks like we might have some LO's already!! How exciting... Can't wait to hear your reports!

Doubt I'll be logging on when I go into labour but do plan on having DH log contractions with a stop watch. We have a DVD of last week's Eastenders which I've just watched - such a guilty pleasure as I hadn't seen an episode since I returned to Bangkok in April - I think we'll be watching that when my labour starts as I'll happily watch it again!!

I saw the obstetrician yesterday who confirmed the baby is lower this week than last and that it really could be any day now. I had some BH earlier today and scared thelife out of DH last night (when we were at a party) by asking him to come over urgently a couple of times - first for a picture as it'll be the last time I'm glammed up for a while, the second time was to demand some more food!!

Thinking of you all

Jo

Stumbled across this thread last night and saw the 3 labouring mummies, any news?

Kittiwake · 21/10/2007 15:53

OOOHhh I don't log on for a day and lookwhat happens hope Stefka, mine and primi have now met their little ones!!! Can't wait to hear how everyone got on.

I am now 6 days overdue grrr have tried all the usual suggestions but have a sweep tomorrow maybe that will do the trick.

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:04

Hey everyone, 5th day over due here, seriously fed up , had hoped lo would come these last 3 days cause my dh has been off work but is back at work from tomorrow for 3 12 hour shifts and works an hour away so we both feel anxious when he has to go incase i'll have to call him back when i go into labour, just be better if he was here when things started off, although he'll be happy to have a reason to get off work early if it does kick off whilst he's there!
Wonder how the labouring ladies are doing, can't wait to hear all about it! It's so exciting when someone pops, gives me hope that it will eventually happen

Kittiwake · 21/10/2007 16:23

Hi Dalrymps it is sooo frustrating isn't it I know that we will get there in the end but at the moment it just seems like it is never going to happen. Have you had any signs/cramps/ etc. I have had nothing really the last few days a bit of dull period pain. Have tried sex/hot curry/walk but I guess this lo just isn't ready yet.

Have you got an appt boked for a sweep this week?

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:29

I know, it's so annoying! i've got an appointment on fri when i'll be 7 days over to have the heart rate monitored and an internal examination to check how favourable my cervix is for induction at 10 days over. They didn't mention whether they'd offer a sweep but i'll just wait and see what they say. You got an appointment booked?

Kittiwake · 21/10/2007 16:36

Yes for tomorrow with the midwife for a sweep but not sure how it will go if I have to be induced as I have been planning on going to a Midwife led unit locally and think I will have to go to a bigger hospital further afield if I get to that point.

Hope something happens for both of us soon. I am getting confused as to which thread I am posting on now!am going to post on the otehr october thread now too!!!

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 21/10/2007 16:39

He he me too, i keep getting confused between the two! Just been on there so you'll probably see me

MrsJoJo · 22/10/2007 09:30

Still no news... They must all be consumed with their LO's by now!!

Had a busy weekend and now need to finish off all the little bits that need doing. I picked up my tens machine this morning but need to get some gel for the contacts.

Took hubby for a second look at the house I saw on Friday - he loves it as much as I do so as soon as he receives his new contract (which commits us to staying in Bangkok for another 5 years) we'll sign a contract on the house and arrange to move in January!!

Now I've got the job of selecting wedding pics for our albumn - been putting it off for ages as its hard to shortlist my faves as there are more than 2000 but must get it done now!!

Morning!

Boo! I was hoping for some news from our 3 labouring ladies today too...aah well, as you say Jo, they're probably otherwise engaged at the moment!

Today is my due date but as I haven't felt even the slightest warning sign, I'm not really expecting anything to happen...we'll see though, I did have a curry, G&T and raspberry leaf tablets last night!

xx

Dalrymps · 22/10/2007 13:26

Hey everyone, 40+6 here, getting so bored of waiting! Colly - hope you go in to labour soon and don't go too overdue, it's so frustrating! Can't wait to meet my lo now .
Not much planned for me today, dh at work for 12 hours, he's waiting on my call to say it's happening, looks like he'll have to wait a bit longer...Got my appointment with the midwife tomorrow to monitor lo's heart rate for 45mins and will have an internal to check how favourable my cervix is too.
How is everyone else doing today?

Stefka · 22/10/2007 18:58

Just home from hospital with my wee boy Dareh. Born on Sunday at 3.57 am 7.5 pounds. The birth was half good half not so good - feel a bit shell shocked right now but also delighted.

Will post more about the birth later - right now I need to sleep! Hope everyone else is well

Collywobbles · 22/10/2007 19:35

Hooray! Congratulations Stefka and welcome to little Dareh.

Can't wait to hear more about how it all went (I think

Dalrymps · 22/10/2007 21:59

oh wow CONGRATULATIONS stefka, so happy for you, your lo is finally here! You must be over the moon! can't wait to hear about it when you've regained some energy

MrsJoJo · 23/10/2007 04:57

Congratulations Stefka!! Welcome to the world baby Dareth...

Looking forward to seeing your report when you have the time and energy!!

Just 7 more days until my due date now, feeling cumbersome and don't really want to venture too far from home. Decided not to take all my mail to the post office today - sending the maid instead (I've NEVER asked her to do anything like this before but can't face waiting in line for an hour or so).

I'm staying home all day today - had planned on getting my legs waxed but will see how I feel tomorrow morning.

Fingers crossed we have some more action today - Dalrymps & Collywobbles, you can't have too much longer to wait!

Wonderful news Stefak, congratulations to you and yours!

Any news on our other 2 busy ladies?

Kittiwake · 23/10/2007 10:31

Congratulations Stefka wonderful news

Hi everyone I am feeling much more positive today after yesterday's nightmare ( I went for a sweep but midwife couldn't do it as cervix was 'very posterior' i.e not ready).

Have got some good advice elsewhere on here and seems that everything could change very suddenly so am trying to focus on this and not think about horrible prospect of induction next week.

Hope we have some more good news today

WheresMyWaistGone · 23/10/2007 14:31

Hello All

Well, I'm totally out of touch with who's getting on how...and I have a son!!!

After moaning that I had BH and none of this painful stuff you all get as recently as oh what Friday...? my waters broke at 0530 on Saturday morning. They were green so when the hospital said to go straight in, we did and of course LO had pooed. So, no water birth, constant monitoring and drip to speed things up. The upside was continuous 1-2-1 midwife care and she was really really super.

He was born at 1737 on Saturday, 8lb8oz and nearly 2ft long! He's gorgeous, but gave me 3rd degree tears, which necessitated a spinal block and theatre, morphine etc and the cocktail of drugs I have been sent home with is truely amazing. However, mw happy with us both this morning.

Why do they not tell you in advance that when it's time to push, they take away the gas and air...?! Ah well, all's well that ends well.

I'm thrilled to be home - I was waiting all day yesterday for it - the NHS is staggeringly stupid in some areas. I really could have gone home first thing yesterday, freeing up staff and a bed...and I finally walked out, threatening self-discharge, at 7pm...

Anyway, love to all, whether new mums, lo's and those still waiting - it's worth the wait!

Kittiwake · 23/10/2007 14:59

Congrats WMWG more great news have you decided on name yet!

OP posts:
Collywobbles · 23/10/2007 15:28

Many congratulations WMWG! I'm so jealous - although not of the tears - ouch!

It's great to hear you sound so positive even though it sounds like you had some nasty complications. It makes those of us still waiting feel a bit better

primigravida · 23/10/2007 18:15

Congratulations to Stefka and WMWG,

Three ladies in labour together have become the three mummies to little boys. After a labour that I thought would never end (Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon latent phase and active phase lasting until the early hours of Monday morning), my little Joseph Jack finally made his grand entrance into the world at 1.45am 22 October. He weighed 3.3kg and measured 52cms at birth with a thick crop of black hair. He's absolutely gorgeous!

I know what you mean about wanting to go home WMWG, I managed to talk the staff at my hospital into letting me go home early on the grounds that I had planned a homebirth (we transferred to hospital on Sunday evening when ds's heart-beat slowed down).

All in all a not too complicated birth, they had to speed things up by breaking my waters and giving me an episiotomy because of the slow heart-beat (too relaxed).

Hope that everyone else's lo's arrive safely and soon!
