WinnieThePooh · 12/09/2007 16:21

Last week I called IKEA regarding the fittings for my changing table. They arrived today and DP has put it together for me.

That is the last bit of the nursery now sorted.

alicet · 12/09/2007 16:38

Winnie - great news everything now sorted!

ejt - yep - a little frustrating you could say! Tried to call consultants secretary earlier and left a message but she has not called back yet... Will call again tomorrow if I don't hear anything today. From the reaction of the other secretary I spoke to though they do know in advance who will be doing it (well there's a surprise!) so a bit irritated at the registrar who told me they didn't. Will reserve judgement though until I have found out for sure!

Met the girl I will be jobsharing with when I go back to work this afternoon. She was lovely - very similar attitudes to me both with regards to work and parenting it seems so think we're going to get on well which is great. A shame she lives an hour away though. But good to have met up!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 12/09/2007 17:36

alice they gave me co-codamol but they make me really fuzzy headed and then the itching started.now ive got nothing,i dont even know if i can take paracetamol with teh buscopan, zantac, piriton and the liquid thyroxine (but cant see that affecting anything else i take)

im seeing the consultant on monday and should get the results of the bloods they sent for the itching.they were worried it was that obstetric cholywotsit!(the liver condition that makes you itch),but it only started when i took the co-codomol,and since ive stopped im not itching as much.

will let you know what the consultant says anyway!!thanks alice!!xxxx

muppetgirl · 12/09/2007 18:14

Hi all

Had much better day today, no emotional outbursts!!
Ollie was fine and I took him to get new shoes after school so all is sorted re the footwear dept!

Mrs Fish -Ollie was talking about Henry today so I took the opportunity to tell him Grandma will look after him while mummy is in hospital and he asked 'will you be going away?' we had a bit of a chat about what would happen but I think this is soemthing he has been thinking about so maybe Sam is the same though can't vocalise it as he's younger. Ollie only asked a couple of questions and then he said 'look,a train!' and I knew the moment had passed...

Will reply better later as have to put Ollie to bed
x

alicet · 12/09/2007 18:27

Buffy - the paracetamol is fine to take with any of the medicines you have mentioned. Understand if you want to wait and see what consultant says though....

Muppet - glad you're feeling happier today!

Big hugs to everyone else....

ChocolateHobnob · 12/09/2007 18:51

Hi all!

Lisa - how did it go today with your appointment?

And Buffy - hope things are alright with you.

J20, good news lo isn't breech at any rate! Odd about the urine - is the baby just dancing on your bladder and sending you to the loo as a result?! I'm sure mine is...

Mumpbump, hope things are okay - next week is soon! But you're right, at least you will know to plan ahead.

Muppet, glad today is easier.

I'm shattered again although I did sleep better last night - think work just eats my energy. I had a bath when I got home just now and caught sight of myself in a full length mirror, naked - the bump looks enormous now!! I've got used to thinking of mine as a nice compact bump (after being paranoid when people kept saying it was small) and suddenly I realize I do look heavily pregnant, and no wonder I get tired with this extra weight coming around with me.

Everyone I've missed - hello and hope you're okay! Brain is a bit fried for now - might be less dopey after dinner!

dal21 · 12/09/2007 18:59

Ladies - am back home, arrived last night. Quick update for you all!

Baby Ryan is doing great! Weighed 5lbs 1oz at delivery and arrived at 08.55am. The great part is that having all the bags packed to leave for the hospital at 7am, we headed in at 1am as my waters broke the morning of the elective section! How funny is that? I was able to go ahead with elective as booked (vs emergency at 2am) as my cervix was still firmly closed and had no contractions.

I have nothing but a positive tale to share with you all. My section was a great experience. We did skin to skin straightaway; fed in recovery. Was up that evening having a wash, having a shower the next day. Have hardly any bleeding. Am very mobile (although good fitness levels definitely help here) and milk came in day 3. The baby was fed formula until then and as a result only lost 3% of his birth weight when weighed on day 4.

Only negative comment is that after the section I went through a period of nausea and vomiting - wasnt pleasant, but got sorted pretty quickly after the anaethetist got the right anti sickness drug for me into me. Think I reacted to the morphine element of the epidural.

I decided to stay in for 5 days - got home last night. Am loving being a mum! It is amazing. Hope you are all well. Will read up when I get more time!

Love to you all and thank you for all your best wishes.
xx

nellieloula · 12/09/2007 19:06

Dal, that is just wonderful news and so positive for the rest of us (esp those of us who are having sections). really made my day so thank you for that!

hope everyone else is ok and not struggling too much. I am pretty shattered today and still feeling so sick - someone told me that was becasue the baby's breech....

anyway - enjoy your evenings ladies. x

MrsFish · 12/09/2007 19:13

Posted on other thread Dal, glad to see you back and well

alicet · 12/09/2007 19:17

Choc - sorry to hear you're shattered again after a day at work (very inconvenient!!!) but at least you will be able to recover a little on Friday....

Nellie - if being shattered and sick means the baby is breech that will be most of us!!! Sorry you're having a rough day....

And dal - really great to hear that you are managing so well and loving being a mum. It's amazing isn't it?

Sam is chattering away at the moment - seems to have forgotton over the last few weeks that 7 is bedtime! Oh well - he sounds happy enough so fingers crossed...

dal-thats great news, sounds like your doing brilliant

well, my aches have finally turned into a full blown cold so i'm sat sniffling and feeling sorry for myself.

anyone started drinking rasberry leaf tea yet? am wondering whether to give it a go.

HonorMatopoeia · 12/09/2007 20:09

Jersey - Don't you just love it when they say rest?! I seriously think I may thump the next specialist that tells me to rest up. Have they ever had a toddler?!

MrsFish - sorry to hear you are so exhausted, sounds like your toddler is as restful as mine!

Unicorn - hope your antibiotics kick in soon and you're free from the discomfort of the UTI.

lisa - how are the contractions? Hope your appointment went well and you could get your wishes across. I know what you mean about being afraid you'll just cry. I almost burst into tears when I was trying to get across just how traumatised I felt after my last birth. Luckily held it together, bit of a miracle as I'm very hormonal!

Buffy - the time frame is quite scary now isn't it? I've lost count of the amount of times I mentioned 'only 5 weeks to go now' to people. Pleased you got all your meds sorted. Definitely seems as if we're all spending a lot of time in various hopsitals and surgeries at the moment!

alicet - don't office politics like that drive you mad . Hope you get a straight answer soon and don't have another sleepless night worrying about it all.

mumpbump - hope your last day went well. Also hope it isn't OC, I'll cross my fingers!

ejt - dead of your DH having torchwood filmed in the building. Think I'd camp out on the set if it was me!!

Muppet - pleased to hear you're feeling more positive now. Blame it al on the hormones!

Choc - sorry you're still shattered, it's a permanent state of being for us these days isn't it? I caught sight of myself in a full length mirror the other day too, but my bump actually exited the mirror stage right !

Dal - great to hear of such a positive story (especially as I'm booked for a elcs). Was wondering what would happen if my waters went before the date I've been given!

nellie - oh I'll add myself to the breech list then - some people eh?!

Hope anyone I've missed out is well. Totally shattered tonight as was visited by Dd1 at 4am again. Saw HV about her bad sleeping habits today and started a new regime tonight. She was asleep by 7:10 , I'm now convincing myself this is a fluke and I'm pretty sure it probably was. The worst thing will be if she comes into bed with me again tonight / early morning as have been told I have to take her straight back to her bed and wait till she's fallen back to sleep. By which point I'll be wide awake and knackered iyswim!
So, I'm off to bed. Will check in again tomorrow evening. Can't wait for our new laptop to arrive so I can peruse mnet in the day again.
Take care all

Hi All - just a quicky tonight..

Alice - thanks so much for the link. Some really good stories on there so feel really positive if I end up having a CS.

Dal - fab news that everything went so well and that you're back home now with your LO!

orangecat · 12/09/2007 20:12

Well scan went well. Placenta has moved enough to mean no hospital stay - yippee. It is still low, so it's not certain that LO head will fit past it and the consultant said we would give VB 'a go'. I guess home birth is now out of the window, and cs still on the cards.

All in all, good news, though.

Dal - your post really made me smile. Made me remember those happy moments when DD was born. Was also reassured by your story of cs. Am still v much hoping I don't have one as can't imagine how I will cope with recovery and toddler.

J20, was interested to hear your possible explanation of pains. I have been getting pains low down and in cervix when I am out walking, and totally makes sense that baby is engaging/ popping out. In fact, when I lay down baby was floating, and when consultant sat me halfway the head went down.

Mump - congrats on last day at work. Great to be free, for a while at least...

Lisa, feeling for you with all those contractions. Must be horrid.

Hope everybody is as well as can be, considering we're all experiencing the joys of late pregnancy.

HonorMatopoeia · 12/09/2007 20:48

I'm Ok, lots has happened this pregnancy but the long and short of it is I'm booked for an elective c-section on 17th October - very scary indeed! Hope you and yours are all well

alicet · 12/09/2007 20:53

HMP ? good luck with dd tonight! Fingers crossed she lets you sleep and you?re not up for ages tonight?. Guess if the worst happens it will be worth it eventually if it works!

Colly ? glad that link helped!

Orange ? good news on the scan. OK so not as good as it might have been but at least it means you have a chance of a VB. Fingers crossed for you.

Inzi ? big hugs honey ? glad you got all sorted with your dh though. Not what you need at the mo!

Anyone else watching supernanny? Watching that arse of a dad tell his 10 year old son who was virtually begging to spend some time together that he was too busy nearly made me cry.

ejt1764 · 12/09/2007 20:57

Evening ladies, am about to go to bed (honestly!!) ... could do with your input on this thread

dal - fabulous to hear from you - so glad your CS was a positive experience! Congratulations on the birth of baby Ryan!

lisad123 · 12/09/2007 21:00

Hi Ladies

Hmm where to start on my tales of the local hospital

Had scan today, alls well apart from slightly low water levels, they are 11 and they worry about anything from 10 down.
Went to appointment, BP 140/92 and trace protein. Hmmm could it get worse. Yep, my heart rate was taken at 134 bpm!! LO heart rate 188 bpm! My consultant comes in, measures me, Im still 2 weeks behind. He insisted I went straight up to ward for an hours monitoring, and to have ECG by cardio team.
I didnt get chance to ask about water levels, and very brief discussion about inducation. His reply was if your numbers dont come down we will deliver this baby today, if not I'll talk to you about it next week.

Sat on monitor, LO heart rate rested at 169bpm, so a little better. They could not find a ECG machine, talked about keeping me in blah blah. Sent me to delivery, found ECG machine, my rate has setled slightly to 113bpm. All this started at 2.15pm I got home at 7.45pm!! I am knattered.
I have to see MW for BP check on friday and my consultant on weds. Overall a horrible day so Im going for a bath and then to bed. Will catch up with you tomorrow, and so sorry this has been a memememe post, but needed to vent.
lisa

ChocolateHobnob · 12/09/2007 21:11

Hi all

Brief stop before bed (I'm with you ejt - bedtime just gets earlier and earlier! I'll be in bed when I get home from work soon!).

Dal, hi and you sound like you're really happy and doing really well! It sounds fab.

Lisa, sounds like a horrible day but at least you're home and heart rate and lo's heart rate returned to normal. Hope it stabilizes!

Inzi, poor you. What are the pains you're having? I guess fights are par for the hormonal course.

Good news on the placenta, Orange!

Right, going to read in bed.

Sleep well all!

muppetgirl · 12/09/2007 21:17
