Congratulations DAL!!!!

kiansmum · 12/09/2007 21:26

Hi Ladies,
Thanks ever so much for all your congrats.
Chelsea's such a cutie but i still can't believe she's so small. She was 6lb 5ozs which is the smallest of my 4. The last one was 8lb 10ozs so quite different. She was also the longest labour!!!
Hope you are all ok and i'm just wondering who's next!!!
Take care all.

WinnieThePooh · 13/09/2007 02:50

Hi all,

I can't sleep for terrible back ache and I am finding it difficult to catch my breath.

Also I think I felt the plug of mucus go earlier (about 11pm) when I went to the loo.
Water have not gone yet though.

My throat is so dry I am guzzling water like there is no tomorrow.

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 04:09

Hi Winnie - hope you are ok. I can't sleep either. Had a very emotional dream that I woke up from 20 mins ago, can't stop crying, now given myself a headache

I'm going to post it here because if I tell dh it will set me off again and I just feel like I need to recount it.

My dad died three years ago, he was 59 and it was a shock, I was 5 months pregnant with ds at the time, so he never got to see him, it was after the 20 week scan, so at least I got to tell him he was getting a grandson.

I have just dreamt (part of a bigger dream involving posh and Becks and my aunty of all people...that whilst being evacuated from a hotel for some reason, that my dad was still alive and had been looking for me for the past three years, then I saw him and managed to get a cuddle off him before I woke up, now I can't get the picture out of my head that I will never see him again and cursing that I woke up so soon damn these emotional pregnancy dreams, I'm going to look such a mess in the morning, swollen blotchy face etc. Anyway, I feel a tiny little bit better actually writing this down, hopefully I can get back to sleep in a bit.

Hope evryone else is having a better night x

alicet · 13/09/2007 05:39

Lisa glad everything settled down for you but sorry for another mammoth day at the hospital. You look after yourself and take it easy...

Great that LES is doing OK now...

MrsFish sorry to hear about your dream and insomnia. Big hugs!

Well as you can see ladies I am still a member of the insomniacs club! Loads of things going round my head and none of it important! Been awake for about an hour and a half.... Have just had milk and jaffa cakes - fingers crossed I get some sleep now and ds doesn't do a 6am wake up today as I have him today so won't be able to sleep all morning!

Chat later....

alicet · 13/09/2007 06:35

OK so ds woke at 6.15 probably about 5 mins after I had got back to sleep. Dh got up to go to the loo so I asked him if he had had less sleep than me (telling him that I had been awake since 4.15) and he said 'I don't know' and shut his eyes. Really p*ssed me off as I'm sure he had!

To be fair to him he has been sleeping really badly lately (don't know why) and I ahd said I would get up this am unless I had needed to go to spare room for not sleeping - wish I had done that half an hour ago now!

ChocolateHobnob · 13/09/2007 06:53

Hi Insomniacs Anonymous,

Mrs Fish, horrible dream! I don't know why being pregnant leads to such emotionally draining dreams. My book says it's subliminal fear about what is to come... hope you're feeling better this morning.

Alice, Winnie, I was awake too! We should have had a virtual party. I'm really frustrated by the sleep problem. I went downstairs and had a digestive biscuit and read for ages but although EVENTUALLY I got back to sleep it was an awful lot later. Grr!

Alice, I've emailed you.

Hope the rest of the Oct people were actually asleep last night.

alicet · 13/09/2007 06:56

Morning Choc - thought you might be on as you often are at this time - presumably before work? Hope today not too rough. I'll mail you back later or text you about coffee tomorrow....

muppetgirl · 13/09/2007 07:42

Mrs Fish - What a horrible dream

Weather supposed to be hot here today so have on linen trousers (bargain £8 ones from next outlet) and a t-shirt that barely covers me. Going to have to get a few new bits of clothes as still growing strong. Seeing my friend for lunch who's a week behind me so passing on clothes to her so at least they'll get some more wear!

Changed mw app to next tues rather than 2 weeks as not happy with what the sonographer said about the levels of fluid - apparently too much. I'm a worrier who's a worrying far too much so need a little reassurance from her

Off to nursery with ds now so i'll write later.

Take care
Emma

muppetgirl · 13/09/2007 07:43

sorry Mrs Fish that was supposed to be a

nellieloula · 13/09/2007 07:54

morning everyone - hope you've all managed toget a better night sleep, minus the disturbing dreams. Hope you're ok mrsfish - they can be really distressing can't they? Your brain does funny things at this point though - it's a year nextweek since I lost our second baby and I keep having these weird flashbacks in the middle of the day; go as quickly as they come but they 're really unnerving. I suppose there is just so much information and emotion for us to process at the moment isn't there?

Lisa, glad you're home and eventually got checked. hope you and everyone else can rest up a bit more today.

re. the sickness thing, I didn't explain it well - my baby is breech, so that's why they think I feel so sick again...mrsfish, have you noticed that too?

LES, winnie - hope you're ok and great news about the placenta Orange.

can't remember what anyone else has said I'm afraid but really hope you're all hanging in there. Have a good morning

alicet · 13/09/2007 08:10

muppet - enjoy your shopping trip! And don't apologise about being a worrier - think thats pretty normal at the mo! Plus no point worrying if someone can put your mind at rest

Nellie - that comment makes more sense if your baby is breech! Still would apply to most of us though!

Well Sam is drawing at the table and I am chilling so all good. Will have breakfast in a min. Off to post office at 9ish then to a toddler music class which he loves. And a friend's book party this pm! So might not be on much today but will catch up later....

WinnieThePooh · 13/09/2007 08:13

The bath eased my back ache though did not get much peace as DD woke with a bad dream about 3.40, so she came in with me for a bit.

I finally went back to bed about 4.45 after settling her in her own bed.

Did not get much sleep, but am planning on going back to bed for a bit after taking her to school.

Thank goodness I have got all my bags packed ready, looks like they might be needed a bit earlier than planned.

alicet · 13/09/2007 08:48

Hope you're OK Winnie.... thinking of you

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 09:29

Morning all.

Well I managed to get back to sleep at about 5am and woke at 7am, feel very lethargic and tired and my eyes are all puffy. Luckily just dropped ds off at nursery and don;t need to fetch him till 5.30 so I can have a nice relaxing day... well still have stuff to do, but it will be relaxed as won't have him under my feet all day. Been to the supermarket to get some bits and I'm going to make a lemon drizzle cake, then do some ironing but that is about the most I'm going to do today

Good luck to all those that will be seeing their lo's today, so exciting, and twit I hope it happens sooner rather than later for you

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 09:33

Hi Nellie - I'm no longer breech according to the midwife, and I haven't been feeling sick, sorry you are

To all my fellow insomniacs, hope you have a good day. I am going to think of my dream in a positive light... that my dad is there watching over me... oh god, I'm crying again... catch up with you all later.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 10:07

can't believe it, i was up at 4am, wish i'd logged on now!

mrsfish-what a horrible dream

nellie-{{hugs}} hope you are ok.

winnie-hope you are ok too! keep us updated.

muppet-are you after maternity clothes? i've got quite a few if you are interested, i've bought a couple of bundles, but then ended up sticking to the same few clothes all the way through, is there anything in particular you are after?

i keep meaning to do a picture trail to try and get rid of a few bits, never done one before! also need to go shopping as we have no food in, but feel crap, still got cold, its all in my face iykwim.

right am off to do something-don't know what yet though.

hope you all have a good day x

j20baby · 13/09/2007 10:08

mrsfish-LEMON DRIZZLE!!

i suppose i could do one, but don't know if i've got the energy!

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 10:51

Stick all the ingredients in a food processor (if you have one) then stick in the oven, it takes minutes

Hope your cold gets better soon.

muppetgirl · 13/09/2007 10:57

Yep J20 - need bottoms as my bump is too big now to wear my clothes without leaving a very sore red line!

I like the over the bump bottoms as I find the under bump stuff just falls down.

If you want to sell some stuff, let me know what you've got...

Lemon drizzle cake oh god yes
...must find the reciepe as I've got 6 lemons and only need 2 to make lemon curd which I am now addicted to!

Apricott · 13/09/2007 11:09

Morning ladies,

Can't believe you're all on-line in the middle of the night -poor sleepless things. I'm sleeping reasonably well - for which I'm very grateful!

I went through and took notes today, so as not to forget everything on the thread, and now I can't understand them cos I was too brief - still I'll do me best:

Mump - sorry about the possible OC - What is OC? Am I the only one who doesn't know?

Dal - thanks for sharing your positive birth story - I'm jealous you're there already - just can't wait to meet LO now.

orangecat - sorry your scan wasn't conclusive, but glad it wasn't out and out bad news. Having been in the same boat, I can completely sympathise. Keeping fingers crossed you get the VB you want.

inzi and lisa - hugs for you - sounds like you're both having really hard times.

winnie - you too - hope you're okay

mrsFish - your dream nearly made me cry - hope you're feeling better now.

J20 - hope you feel better soon.

That's about all I can manage. Hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the sunshine!

I was very pleased to discover this morning that my placenta is no longer low - baby's head is lower than the edge of the placenta, so I can go ahead and plan for VB after all the uncertainty. Yay! Also saw baby's face on the screen - so cute! Made it seem all the more real and imminent.

Oh, and who was talking about feeling sick? - I'm feeling sick most of the time again now - and being sick too - it's horrible and I'm heartily fed up of it. And my baby has its little head well down.

I guess I better get back to work. I have a summary report to write before I leave. It's a fair sized job but I am having difficulty motivating myself. I'll try...

Wish I was at home making cakes

Apricott · 13/09/2007 11:11

mump - that was meant to be a not a

MrsFish · 13/09/2007 11:59

I'm with you Apricott, I have no idea what OC means

Mmm, cake out of oven, smells delicious, just what I needed to take my mind off things. Am now going to do some ironing

Muppet - Recipe taken from Marslady's thread on Recipe forum...

Okay..... to make it as a round cake do 6,6,6 and 3.

6 flour, sugar, butter, 3 eggs. Use 2 tsp baking powder and 4 tbls milk.

Divide the mix between the two sandwich tins. Then I would make a butter icing for the middle (just butter and icing sugar.... maybe add some lemon juice), then do the topping as before.

Hope that helps.

Recipe... okay

12oz flour
9 oz sugar
9 oz butter/marg
4 eggs
3 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp milk
zest of 2 lemons

Pop it all in a bowl and whisk. Pop into large roasting tin or large square baking tin (which you should line with baking paper, but I don't always).

Cook on 180 or Gas 4/5 (I think) for 30-40 mins. To test if it's cooked pop a knife into it. If it comes out clean it's cooked. You can also press the top and see if it springs back up.

Prick it with holes. Warm the juice of the 2 lemons in the microwave for about 20secs. Spoon 3-4 tablespoons of lemon juice over the cake. Mix the rest with icing sugar (as thick as you like). Voila!

WinnieThePooh · 13/09/2007 12:15

Hi all,

I am still here.

Been out to the shops and just got back. Needed to get a birthday present for a party DD is going to on Saturday and also got my nephew's present as it is his birthday on 3rd October.

Back ache is still there, but not too bad. If it gets too bad I will call my midwife.

I hope you all have a good day.

j20baby · 13/09/2007 12:55

winnie-have you tried taking paracetomol to take the edge off?

would you believe i only went and forgot to buy lemons!!! good job i bought loads of chocolate and cakes, now stashed at the back of the cupboard hidden from dd, he he

not sure what oc stands for but i'm pretty sure its when you get chronic itching and it can mean their is something wrong with your liver, that can be very dangerous to mum and baby.

muppet-will have a look what i've got, what size are you?
