Cross posted kiansmum - Congratulations on your new arrival! Glad to hear you're both doing well - Fantastic news!

HonorMatopoeia · 11/09/2007 21:49

Evening all!
I really ought to start taking notes when I read through the thread as I can never remember who said what. Doesn't help that DH is back at work now and takes the only laptop we have at the moment with him, so have no chance to catch up till evening . Will try to remember main points (apologies in advance to anyone left out).

Muppet - so very and for you regarding your Mum. Like alice I am very fortunate to have had a good childhood so it always infuriates me to think of people who haven't had this. You sound like a great, caring Mum to Ollie (and soon to be Henry too!)but I understand the need for everything to be just right. Shoes will be long forgotten by tomorrow and in no way did you 'let him down'. Emotions are running so high (for Mums and kids) at the moment so wobbly moments are par for the course I fear, heaven above knows I've had more than my fair share recently including breaking down for ten full on minutes of crying when I discovered I'd forgotten to pay my credit card bill on time.... . Hope your hug helped and isn't it great when your lo smiles and takes all your cares away with it?!

ejt - congratulations on getting the birth you wanted , when the decision has been made and recorded it does lift a weight doesn't it?

lisa - as another teacher I agree, take her out if you think that is what is best for her and just write a letter, then all is authorised. I could count on one hand the children from our school who come into school the day after Mum has had a baby!

Oh....errrr.....bum, nope, it's all gone! So sorry Hope everyone else is well and those with contractions are coping. I feel for the insomniacs, at the moment I'm on about 2 get ups but my lo feels like she's making her way down and as she goes my need for the loo increases!
Have just ordered a 'freedom' sling from ebay, does anyone else do baby wearing? Thought I'd give it a try this time as Dd1 was such a clingy baby, I ended up carrying her everywhere. Wish I'd known about these slings then!
Right, off to visit the loo for the umpteenth time (why did I have that hot chocolate?!). x

FloriaTosca · 11/09/2007 23:43

Just been on the old thread and was going to copy Kiansmums news but glad to see she found us here.
Congratulations on your wonderful surprise.
Welcome to the world Chelsea Alana!

Well I've been drooling over my favourite baritone (he's on sky tv doing an opera gala in Wales)..well, while Dh is in Italy I may as well take advantage of sole control of the remote...(Dh knows..it is why he has vetoed the name Bryn if LO is a boy!)but tiredness is overtaking me. I'm going to have to tidy up the spare room tomorrow as Mum has decided to come and keep an eye on me while Dh is away so better stop letching and go get some rest.
Hope those who have been suffering insomnia get a better nights rest tonight.

ChocolateHobnob · 12/09/2007 06:45

Congratulations Kiansmum! An October arrival. Already! And you must be doing well if you can post here the same day you gave birth; wow.

Muppet, I too found your account of your childhood very moving. You can take pride in the fact that you're not repeating those old patterns with Ollie; you're doing a fantastic job.
(on the subject of ill-fitting shoes, I once went to school in my mum's shoes. She didnt notice. They were about five sizes too big and had heels. I hopped along with socks in the front. She was sooooo embarrassed when she found out...)

Jersey, sounds like you have problem parent too! I think trying to ignore them cos we're all super-hormonal at the mo is probably the best idea.

Alice, good news re C-section! 3 weeks- scary and exciting!

Ejt, well done with the consultant; you must be delighted.

Lisa - how are the contractions?

Floria, hope you're okay today, and Buffy.

Honor, hello! I only go to the loo once in the night, sometimes twice, but that feels like a lot to me and I wake up a lot thanks to the discomfort of the bump! Still - hearing about 5 times, 10 times or more - could be worse.

Inzi, how are you doing? And Apricott? And Winnie? and everyone else?

Back in work today (yesterday I managed 2 naps at home while working - result) so no napping but think I'll be okay. LO is 33 weeks today... which feels like a lot to me though I know you're all later...

Take care all!

MrsFish · 12/09/2007 08:43

CONGRATULATIONS Kiansmum, wow, I can'tbelieve we have had two Oct babies already, I'm getting jealous, I thought I would be one of the first

J20 - what else did the woman say? are you a believer?

Muppetgirl - what a crap childhood but it sounds like you are more than making up for it to Ollie

Orangecat - I hope you get the news you want today

alicet and ejt - glad you both had a good day yesterday

Well I had a crap day yesterday, hence I didn't post much. Was totally exhausted all day due to no sleep the night before, also felt so guilty because Sam wanted to play and all I wanted to do was sleep. Picked him up from nursery and tried to get him to have a nap with me on the bed, but he just wouldn't settle, every time I then lay down he was climbing all over me and wanted me to sit up, so I was getting really ratty. It seems that the closer to my dute date I get the livelier he is getting, he doesn't want to go to bed at night now, and he is up early in the morning, he also started shouting out in the night which he never does, so he obviously realises something big is going to happen soon and he has taken to squealing and screaming like a girl and running around like there is no tomorrow The woman at nursery says it is his age 2+4 and he is just 'finding' himself. Blimey, I knew it was going to be difficult being pregnant with a toddler, but I didn't think it would be this hard. Also I started with backache yesterday which is something I have got away with so far, and I think this lo has started to move into position as I had really achy period like pains too.

At least I had a better nights sleep last night. Went to bed at 10pm and only woke up 4 times, also no heartburn, but then again the last thing I had to eat was about 3pm yesterday and I had the hb all afternoon/early evening instead. I am feeling a bit more positive today.

Hope you all have a good day

nellieloula · 12/09/2007 09:36

morning everyone and congratulations to kiansmum! wonderful news!
hope everyone else is well - sorry you had a crap day mrs fish, hope today is better. I had a much better night's sleep (prob cause DH slept on the sofa!!) so feel vaguely human today - although it looks like DS has designs to run riot! Hardest combo in the world - a no energy, very pregnant woman and a high energy 2 yr old!! let's see how the day goes.....have a good one everyone

Peshatlast · 12/09/2007 10:09

Just crashing in to say Congratulations Kiansmum on baby Chelsea

Heard the news at the school gate yesterday! Hope your both doing well and look forward to seeing LO soon

Good luck everyone else! Like the thread title btw!

Apricott · 12/09/2007 10:38

Hello everyone!

So many posts - again.

MG - hope you're feeling better. and at your mum's behaviour to you. But try not to beat yourself up, you are clearly not repeating her 'mistakes' (if you can call them that).

FT - sorry to hear it's all up in the air again - glad you're being well monitored though.

ejt - yay re consultant meeting - excellent news.

kiansmum - blimey can't believe I nearly forgot - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

orangecat - hope the placenta is out of the way now - winnie -so pleased yours has moved. My scan is tomorrow, not Friday, their mistake not mine, but v glad I noticed in time to check - they'd written Thurs 14 on my card - duh.

lisa hope your contractions have settled down.

inzi glad to hear your taking it easier now!

Everyone else, I can't remember who said what, but sorry to hear about infections and sleeplessness and toddler trouble. I really admire everyone coping with a small child (or two) at the moment. I'm absolutely knackered all the time without having to run round after a toddler. Hats off to you!

Was 'working at home' yesterday - no chance to get on-line - but lovely to be able to lie down when I needed to. I too have been trying to get comfy on two chairs in the office, but it doesn't quite work .

Hoping everyone's okay today so far xxxxx

unicorn · 12/09/2007 11:18

Congrats Kiansmum!
October babies are popping out all over

Hope all well.

Tesco have some good offers at moment BOGOF Muslin squares at 3pound something , and bath/cuddle robes. Also Tommy tippee stuff (mothercare have the tt nappy bin at half price too)

Got my antibiotics for UTI, so hopefully will clear it.
Feeling very large at moment, and need to rest a lot... better make the most of it!

Take it easy everyone.

lisad123 · 12/09/2007 11:37

Congrats Kiansmum wow, bring it home how close it all is. Hope your both well.

Contractions got a lot worse yesterday, woke me a numbe rof times last night, and the one at 4.30am was getting to the point that I thought i wasnt going to manage so thought i would time till next one, it never came all stopped again. Still getting a lot of back pain today and feeling like mild period pain again, so looks like another day of pain.

I have another scan today and seeing my consultant, so will ask MW if she can check cervix to see how things are. tansiha has gone off to school and a sleeply hubby has gone to work. Im feeling sorry for myself as darren cant come with me today. It was meant to be last week and darren had day off, but consultant changed appointment and darren couldnt get today off I hope i dont cry today and can get what i want out.

Orange good luck with scan today

I cant rememeber what anyone else said. I still havent heard from LES, i hope shes ok.

Lisa

j20baby · 12/09/2007 11:37

hi everyone

been to mw appointment, lo has got her head down, but not quite engaged yet..grrr, also my urine came back clear, so mw thinks the pains must be the head moving down when i get bh and then popping back up when it eases off, well, i suppose my body has forgotton how to give birth since dd is 7!

mrsf-yes i do believe that their is some truth in it, but i don't think the bloke last night had the gift, i think he just said anything to try and keep people happy!

just got my hynobirth cd through, so going to listen to that while i eat dinner and then off to a meeting at work to see if i've still got a job!
hope your all ok

j20baby · 12/09/2007 11:38

orange and lisa-good luck with appointments

alicet · 12/09/2007 11:44

MrsFish ? sorry to hear about crap day yesterday but glad you had a better night?s sleep and are feeling more positive today. Sleep really helps with that I find!

Lisa ? good luck with scan and appointment honey. Sounds like you had a really rough night ? hope everything either kicks off or settles down for you so you can get some rest.

Orange ? good luck with scan

Off to post office to pick up parcel then will be back later?.

buffythenappyslayer21 · 12/09/2007 11:47

hi everyone!

just wanted to post quickly so i can find you again!!!

how is everyone?anyone popped yet?

buffythenappyslayer21 · 12/09/2007 11:49

will have a quick read of the posts now!!looks like ive missed lots going on!!(blame dh...hes changed broadband providers ready for the move so havent been able to gte on for a couple of days!!)

buffythenappyslayer21 · 12/09/2007 12:08

congratulations kiansmum!!!cant believe their starting to pop out everywhere already!!!

floria, how are you?sorry to read about yesterday with the diabetic nurse.hope it gets sorted soon and that you get a date soon!text or email soon for a natter xxx

i saw mw yesterday.still got protein in urine,so that got sent off again.(had protein in last mondaya nd when i was in hospital last thursday).bp is ok,so i dont think tehy are worrying about it.

mw is chasing teh blood results up for when i see the consultant next monday.apparently the blood gets sent down to birmingham to be tested for the itching...even though ive told them im only itching when i take the co-codamol!(but i guess they are just being cautious)

took my notes into the gp's surgery and asked the receptionist if she could ask the gp to prescribe me all the meds the hosptial said i need.didnt fancy sitting there for over and hour!luckily she didnt want to see me (plus the mw said she has to prescibe them because its what the hospital has said i have to have).so im now taking buscopan, zantac, piriton, and the liquid thyroxine (which smells and tastes like vaseline!!!)god knows what i can take for the spd pain now..what with popping everything else!!will ask consultant next week.

anyway,i hoep everyone is ok,lisa how are your contractions?i asked mw about them yesterday, and she said that as i have already had lots of babies,i am more likely to get them often and painful.its just the stopping and starting thats doing my head in now!!had them in my back monday night and was nearly crying with it!!ive definately had enough now!!!!

anyway, ive now got 23 days until my section!!!scarey thought!!(thats if she doesnt come before them!!!)

have a good day everyone!!xx

alicet · 12/09/2007 12:09

Hi buffy! Glad you found us!

Well I have had a lovely lie in on my second day of mat leave but needed it as not a great night's sleep. My head was ticking away like mad after my appt yesterday. Had been a bit peeved that the registrar I saw said she didn't know who was down to be doing my section and that I wouldn't find out till the day I went in. As I had a few things I wanted to ask them I really want to be able to see them before hand and not try and negotiate stuff (like dh being allowed to stay if I have a general anaesthetic) the morning I go in. Just couldn't believe that was the case either - the nhs might seem like a shambles to some of you but clearly most of it is planned in advnace and they won't just all rock up on 2nd Oct and think 'Oh I fancy doing some elective sections today - who fancies the antenatal clinic?!!' So I've called and left a message with my consultants secretary to find out....

Anyway hopefully I'll be able to speak to her later so I can sleep better tonight! Probably silly I know and I also accept that things can change because of emergencies and stuff but I don't think its too muchto ask!!!

Anyway off to have lunch - see you later

alicet · 12/09/2007 12:12

buffy - crossposted! If you tell me what you have been prescribed for the spd I can let you know what is safe to take with all of that if you like? Saves you being in pain before your appt....

Mumpbump · 12/09/2007 13:26

Congratulations Kiansmum!

LAST DAY AT WORK TODAY!!! Spent this morning in the antenatal day unit, rigged up to a CGT machine and having my bloods done. I am expecting them to confirm that my liver function is off and possibly (on Friday) that I have OC. In any case, I now have an appointment with a consultant for next Thursday and have warned dh that they might want to induce me fairly soon after that if they are concerned so I could be a mother of two by next weekend!! Scary! Bit disappointed that my plans for a home birth look like they're going to be thwarted again, but if there is a problem, I'm not taking any risks... The upside of an induction is that at least you know when it's all going to happen and can arrange things accordingly. Sod's law means that we have my dsc for a week from next Tuesday so we'll probably have to sort out someone to babysit them as well as ds...

alicet · 12/09/2007 13:43

Yippee for your last day mump!!! Less good about everything else but there's nothing you can do about it I guess. Sounds like you're being very pragmatic about it all. Fingers crossed all will be well and you'll get the homebirth you really want but like you say there's no point taking silly risks if there are problems... Good luck!

WinnieThePooh · 12/09/2007 14:05

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to Kiansmum.

Mump, yah, for your last day at work. Not so good about the rest of your day. My SIL had OC during her pregnancies and both my nephews were born 4 weeks early because of it.

Sorry can't remember what everyone else has said.

I can sympathise with those of you not sleeping well as I am having the same problem too.

Hope everyone else is well

Hi all ...

Mumpbump - really hope it's not OC... and sod's law about the timing!

alice - must be very frustrating to not be able to discuss with the staff member down to do your section ... hopefully you'll get some answers!

to all those suffering with contractions - ouch!

Kiansmum - congratulations!

I've been to hydro this morning, then met dh for lunch - and have found out that they'll be filming for the next series of Torchwood in his building on Friday (very excited!) - have told dh that he must get autographs ... he just sighed ... - perhaps I'll go and meet him for lunch again on Friday? hmmmmm ...

Going to do some sewing now ... since having the TENS machine, I've been able to sit for long enough to finally get going on the quilt for Madam!
