J2OBABY · 01/10/2007 09:25

morning all,

nothing happening here either, slept really badly as i kept getting pains, unless i dreampt it! but nothing this morning, am going to go and get some net curtains, wash the windows, hoover and mop all the downstairs and stock up the fridge, not necesarily(sp) in the order! hope you all have productive days

btw, regarding the sweep, mw said they just use their fingers to tickle the cervix, anyone know how far up the cervix is? am wondering about self sweeping?

MrsFish · 01/10/2007 09:48

(TMI)I have thought about self sweeping too, fingers weren't long enough to reach though obviously he is still too high up. Mw did say to me that some people find it really uncomfortable/painful, so said that if she does try it on thursday, she will stop as soon as I say if I need to. Not sure whether to bother to be honest now, another day overdue is another day without a screaming baby to look after Its all become real now that I am over

I had a crap nights sleep too, I was awake every hour, either due to needing the loo, a dream waking me up, or excessive dribbling into the pillow, which I have never suffered from until the past couple of weeks

alicet · 01/10/2007 10:32

Hello ladies! All our babies will be October babies now (apart from maybe those due in the latter end of the month?) I had been convinced that Adam would arrive late Sept ? not now! Still time for him to scupper my elective section though but no signs so far today?.

Inzi ? your soup sounds gorgeous!

Choc ? hope work OK today! Are you working from home soon now its Oct?

J20 ? you?ve got a smaller bump / exceptionally long fingers if you can even CONTEMPLETE self sweeping!!!!! You should normally be able to reach your cervix but its all I can do to reach my bits at the moment with the bump in the way! . Not sure you would know for certain you were in the right place though if you couldn?t see / didn?t have experience of what you are feeling (meaning professionally like mw?s here by the way!!!!)

MrsF, emj, winnie ? fingers crossed things get going!

Well I got my tiny love mobile as well as an all in one waterproof suit for ds to put on over his clothes so he can go and play in the garden in the rain when I am too tired to go out over the next couple of weeks!

And I?m off now to make sure I have everything I want to ask to my consultant this pm. After making a fuss to get an extra appointment to chat to the person doing my section I better make sure I ask everything I wanted too!

Probably not back on till this evening?. Good luck everyone!

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 10:36

Inlaws have just arrived, Will nor be on computer much longer. Just waiting for EBAY auction to end. I am the highest bidder on the only item I still need to get for this baby and it ends in 21 minutes.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

nellieloula · 01/10/2007 12:16

good luck for progress today mrsfish and ejt; hope everyone else is ok and alice, hope you enjoy your last day before Adam arrives! How lovely.

re. sweeps, I had one with DS1 when I was nearly 2 weeks over and have to say it wasn't the most comfortable of things I've ever experienced - and it did nothing! still had to be induced a few days later. if you can bear to hang on until they come on their own, all the better (but I was like a bear with a sore head for those last few weeks, so understand the desperation to get on!!)

I had a rubbish night sleep and grim mornning in town in the heaviest rain.....not a good look! have good afternoons everyone and fingers crossed!

Apricott · 01/10/2007 13:57

Afternoon all

I missed the excitement yesterday -

Congratulations Jersey - nice short labour - I want one of those .

And congratulations Floria - I'm so delighted to hear your news after all you and your DH have been through. Fantastic!

No word yet today from ejt I notice - I'm her text buddy and have stupidly left my mobile at home, but I'll update you all as soon as I hear anything. Sounded to me as if she was on her way over the weekend.

When's your due date J20, I can't remember? Are you late or just impatient to get it over with? Late pregnancy is so uncomfortable isn't it, I'm comforting myself with the thought that we'll all have our babies within a few weeks now. Made me smile that the 'best before date' on the yoghurt I bought on Saturday was after my due date - it'll all be happening soon!

Hope you're all feeling as well as can be expected ...

A x

Apricott · 01/10/2007 13:58

Oh, and Alice - good luck and big hugs for tomorrow!

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 14:20

Good luck for tomorrow Alicet.

I won the Amby nest that I was bidding on, so that is everthing for the baby now. I just hope it arrives before this little one does. I got it for £105.20 (including postage) MIL has said that she will give me a cheque for the £105 as we do not need anything else for this LO. I nearly snapped her hand off when she offered.

I just need to get a new matress and linen for it.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

lisad123 · 01/10/2007 14:29

winnie, oo an amby nest, i have one and Jasmine sleeps well in it. I wouldnt spend too much buying the covers for it, as they are thin and you need to put sheets on too, as when dd is sick i have to chance them. Buy some sheets and crib sheets.

I havent had chance to read all other threads, but congrats to the new mummies

Lisa

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 14:33

LIsa,

Thanks for the advice re Amby Nest. MIght give the sheets a miss then as I still have the crib shhets from when DD was in the moses basket. Would you recommend the snuggler?

lisad123 · 01/10/2007 14:40

i havent got one, so no idea

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 14:43

It is meant to ensure thart LO stays sleeping on the back. I already have lots of blankets and sheets from when DD1 was little and will also be using grobags for bedtime so I think I just need to order the matress and cover.

dal21 · 01/10/2007 14:53

WTP - the snuggler is for bubs under 7lbs. i used it for ryan and last night removed it.

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 14:55

Thanks for that dal. I don't think I will need it then. DD was just over 7lbs, and I think this one is going to be a bit bigger.

lisad123 · 01/10/2007 15:08

my dd is under 7lb and sleeps slightly on her side, but never too far for me to worry, and theres not enough room in there for her to roll anyway. You'll love the amby nest, Jas will happily sleep in her's for 4hours, before she wakes.

dal21 · 01/10/2007 15:13

we ordered it once ryan was born, because he was only 5lbs 1oz, arrived in 2 days - but otherwise I wouldnt bother - in just over 3 weeks, he has outgrown it.
agree with lisa - ryan is sometimes going 4-5 hrs (only sometimes i hasten to add) - but sometimes is better than never in my book!

alicet · 01/10/2007 16:31

Thanks everyone for the good wishes!

Sorry some of you are feeling rubbish?

Great news on Amby nest Winnie ? I would love one but am more dependent on my paranoid mum?s baby monitor with the sensor mat which wouldn?t work in it. Found it great for reassuring me ds was OK without always having to go and check.

We?ve just been to the park feeding the ducks with Sam ? he loved it! Last time we went it was totally lost on him but he got really excited today!

Going to spend a bit of time with him and settle him this evening and then sort some stuff for tomorrow (although mostly done now). Will post later if I get a chance but otherwise you will hear my news via Choc as soon as it all happens tomorrow?. Hopefully patientline will let me keep updated with all of your news too, otherwise good luck to all of you ? you will be in my thoughts over the next few days.

Lots of love xxx
