Well I chickened out of a three mile walk to the pub took dh to sainsbury's instead and got him to pay, have just eaten a nice lunch and am watching the Grand Prix with my feet up

muppetgirl · 30/09/2007 13:26

Back from trying to track down flat crib sheets in 100% cotton/white. Mothercare online/Swindown shop, toys r us, john lewis reading all are out of stock. Looks like I'm making them then?

Ollie is in the garden with no pants on as he has just messed himself as he's desperate for a poo but won't go yet is doing the 'I am DESPERATE for a poo jig'.

I can't believe it's nearly October and very near due dates....
Dh has popped out to get 'something to roast' in our new oven but are quite embarassed to say the first meal we cooked was a warm up curry from Asda

have a good rest of say, I'm sorry I've not read through the weeks postings so I may have missed something important, I hope you are all well (as can be expected being this heavily pregnant!)

CONGRATULATIONS FLORIA. Glad to hear everything is OK with Alex.

DP and I had fun last night trying to bring this LO on, but nothing happening yet.

Good to hear from you MG. Glad to hear that you have almost got the house sorted.

Mrs Fish & Greedy - happy due date. I wonder which one of you will "pop" first.

Mrs F don't forget to text me if you go in.

I have had a lazy morning. DD came into our bed at 7.05, but we did not get up until 8am. Inlaws came at 8.55 to take her swimmimh and I went back to bed. Slept until 10.45 then lay and watched Hollyoaks. Going over to the inlaws later for dinner so I don't even have to worry about that.

Have a good sunday everyone

nellieloula · 30/09/2007 14:07

TheLadyEvenstar · 30/09/2007 14:17

Hi all
you all still waiting???? Had midwife out today Zach is doing well, on monday they weighed him and he had gone down from 5lb 15oz to 5lb 12 oz today he is 6lb 1 oz and doing so well I have been disharged from midwife. Only thing we have a prob with is he has thrush so i have to get a gp appt tomorrow to get something for it unless anyone knows any natural remedy for thrush in a 12 day old ratbag who won't stop feeding lol.

Discovered that formula is not good for him as it goes right through him however he lovesssssssssss breast milk and seems to be permantly latched on lol.

His jaundice has all gone and he is happy as can be, he sleeps nearly all night and feeds throughout the day. He slept from 1.30 this morning until 6.30 and then wanted a feed.

How is everyone elses lo's????

Vaun xxxx

jersey · 30/09/2007 14:35

Hi, the details are: Thomas Michael, 7lb 5.5oz, long and thin fits in the early baby clothes as the rest are too big. Spitting image of DS1 at the same age.

The pain is a little better today so assume that the milk will subside soon.

Congrats to the rest of the new mums, and good luck to those yet to deliver. Thanks to WTP for the updates and hope your little one arrives soon.

TheLadyEvenstar · 30/09/2007 14:39

Jersey
congrats for Thomas Michael and wow that he fits into early baby clothes, Zach does as well and he is only 6lb 1oz now at 12 days old. lol

ChocolateHobnob · 30/09/2007 14:43

Hi all

LES, good to hear from you! Glad Zach is doing well. And so pleased about Alex, too.

Mrs F - I'd have chickened out of that walk too! Sainsburys is so much less hassle.

Greedy - happy due date to you too! Any sign of action?

Inzi, guess we're waiting a while longer till we see our los! And Unicorn. Winnie, J20 - it must be soon for you!

No more antenatal classes for me! Yippee! Actually my NHS ones were okay - short and to the point and not too touchy-feely. I found the NCT ones both a bit too caring/sharing and a bit too preachy (the vibe was definitely: pain relief bad, gas and air on its own good). Also I am crap at relaxing and breathing. My natural response to pain is to try to visualize my dinner. I know that sounds greedy. I'm not sure that'll work very efficiently in labour!

We've been to Borders (and Starbucks, where I had a choc chunk cookie) and Mamas and Papas and Mothercare. Lo now has a baby bath and many more accessories for the nursery, which is looking fab. DH is putting the curtains up now - we still need to get black-out blinds, but since lo is going to be sleeping with us to start with it's not so urgent. Went a bit OTT with the spending to be honest, but never mind.

Now I'm thinking about a relaxing novel... and DH is going to iron in front of the footie. I need comfort food so am making lasagne for dinner, a Jamie one with butternut squash in it. And have the X factor taped from last night to watch.

Any ideas for a 92nd birthday pressie??? My grandmother was 92 yesterday; I sent a card but am seeing her Tues so will need pressie for then.

Hope you're all okay.

TheLadyEvenstar · 30/09/2007 14:44

CH re a pressie for 92 yr old how about a 25 yr old hunk to do all her cleaning etc lol

ejt1764 · 30/09/2007 14:45

Afternoon all ...

well the 2nd nudge yesterday seems to be doing something ... I spent most of last night on the sofa, having contractions that got to only 6 minutes apart - they started at about 10pm. I'd spoken to the hospital, and they'd told me to try and get as much rest as possible, but to ring them again if I had any change. The contractions finally died away about 6am (but at least I got to get some sleep!) ... have spoken to the mws at the hospital again, as I have the worst period cramps ever ... around my back and all down my legs - horrendous - worse than they used to be in my teens! I've also spent today running backwards and forwards to the loo ...

Have another appointment with the acupuncturist at 5pm ... dh has to drive me as I can't - I feel too yucky! Hopefully that will spur me into some action for tonight!

Hope everybody else is well ...

lisad123 · 30/09/2007 15:40

just wondering if next time someone does list of babies that have arrived it might be worth do their weights too. We seem to have a group of small babies

greedygreedyguzzler · 30/09/2007 16:25

mrs fish - still here? me too!!! marching round the shops didn't do it for me! cant be arsed to have sex later either cos i just dont have the energy, and i am all curried out so spag bol tonight with ANOTHER big glass of wine! just have to be patient really i suppose..............i will be having a sweep on friday when i see the mw if nothing has happened by then.

chochobnob! - i LOVE your natural response to pain!!!!! not sure how well it will work for you in labour though!!!

OMG ejt - sounds like it could all be happening for you!! good luck and i am NOT AT ALL jealous!!! honest!!! i am enjoying every second of being huge and fat and uncomfortable!!!

Oh and Lisa.......when me and mrsfish do finally pop ours will prob be BIG ones cos they are well cooked!!!

alicet · 30/09/2007 16:49

Inzi ? glad your pains have settled. Have to say its lovely knowing the date ? as ds was a week early last time my goalposts have shifted so it would feel like he was really late even if he was on time!!!

LES ? glad to hear Zach is doing well and putting weight on!

Choc ? sounds like you have had a very productive day! Lovely doing all the nice things to personalise the room for your lo.

Ejt ? will be thinking of you! Hope the acupuncture does the trick!

Hello to the rest of you - sounds like most of you are having lovely days! We have just been into John Lewis and then took ds1 to the carwash - he was very wide eyed and interested and said 'bye bye!' when it finished! very cute... Anyway, off to chill for a bit - may be back later.

MrsFish · 30/09/2007 17:22

Well we went to the park this afternoon to get some fresh air, but still no sign of anything happening.

Greedy I too have given up on the sex idea, I'd rather wait a few days to be honest I reckon this lo is going to be bigger than ds1 who was 8 pound 3ounces, as mw said I didn't have much fluid around him I hope his head isn't as big as Sam's was as I had to have forceps and an episiotomy to get him out

At the moment I reckon he will be staying put till I see the mw on thursday.

alicet · 30/09/2007 17:39

Have to say MrsF I don't blame you - the thought of sex at the moment isn't the most appealing!!! Fingers crossed all happens soon for you (and greedy and everyone else who is keen for their lo to arrive soon!!!!) Knowing my luck it will be me - I don't want Adam to arrive before tues which means he is bound to!

ChocolateHobnob · 30/09/2007 17:46

Mrs Fish and Greedy - I'm sending vibes to your los to get a move on! But they're obviously too comfortable in there - you must be doing something right!

Alicet, how did you get to John Lewis in the light of the GNR or was it finished by then?

J2OBABY · 30/09/2007 17:48

hi all, been cleaning all day! not nesting, just don't like muck.

i'm quite tired today, but don't feel like i'm ready to drop yet, i've been thinking-at my mw appoitnment on Wed it'll be my due date, do you think the mw may want to do a sweep? for the past 3 weeks, she's been saying 'well its about time this baby was out' so she might do if i ask, but am very scared about it!

btw, anyone had/having a girl and want any clothes? i've got some nb, 0-3 and 3-6 that i've got spare if anyone wants them FFP? they'll only end up at charity shop if not, can do a link to pics if anyone wants them?

right, off to bath dd

vicm · 30/09/2007 19:32

new member today, due on friday this week and recommended by a friend to check out mumsnet
I live in abu dhabi, moved here with hubby from london last year, so it's still ramadan here and apparently a lucky time of year to give birth - problem is, they fast all day and then feast at iftar ( around 6pm) through to the small hours, so hope labour starts at an appropriate time of day - it's a bit like thinking you're going to give birth on new year's eve...... doc suggested being induced to avoid going over date and into the Eid holidays- think my little bo peep can come in her own time thanks very much.
Does anyone have any advice on heartburn- have had a totally easy run of it to date, but lately nights are totally hideous burp-o-clock restless and miserable! Also I can confirm from doctor husband that there is a syndrome called 'restless legs' ( so that's supposed to make us all feel better!)

alicet · 30/09/2007 19:59

Welcome vicm! I would recommend gaviscon slugged directly from the bottle - its the only thing I've found to help heartburn! I'm having my lo on tues by elective section and like knowing when he will be born (had emergency one last time) but agree would balk at the idea of arranging an induction just to fit around holidays! Good luck...

Choc - actually road closures for GNR not bad at all and didn't restrict my route to town! WOuldn't have affected route to RVI either which is why he has stayed put!

J20 - you rest honey! Here they won't entertain the possibility of a sweep before 41 weeks - I have had friends see their mw's at 39+6 and been refused. But no harm in asking! Have heard its really painful unless your cervix is soft (and therefore I guess receptive to it and almost ready anyway...) but never needed it myself...

Big hellos to everyone else! Just off to have dinner.... And found out that one of our 'must haves' from ds1 (a battery powered tiny love mobile for his car seat) isn't working! So bidding on one on ebay as we speak....

Hello all. Well, unless LO arrives in the next half hour, she is an October baby! I just really hope I don't have another two weeks to wait.
Hope you're all well and more patient than I am.

40 weeks today.

ChocolateHobnob · 01/10/2007 06:41

Hi all! And specially to those whose babies were due yesterday. Mine's due 31 Oct - what's the betting I'll be a November person? - so I can guess how you feel.

J20, I'm a wimp too. I wince whenever they mention sweeps or that crochet hook thing that they use for the waters. I don't watch Holby City or any other medical dramas because I'm too squeamish. This doesn't bode well!! I would think the same as the others though, that they wouldnt do a sweep on the day you were due unless your cervix seemed ready. At least that's what our hospital class told us.

Monday morning - cold and grey, woe. The nursery looks so cute - really really nice. Shame I can't sit in it all day and have to go to work. I'm beginning the process of handover of responsibilities today which is cool, though.

Have a good last day of being a mum of one, Alicet, and Mrs F/Greedy/Emj, hope you get some action today!

MrsFish · 01/10/2007 08:58

Morning all

I think scrubbing floors on my knees is the order of the day today, no signs whatsover of anything happening yet

WinnieThePooh · 01/10/2007 09:13

HI all,

I think I might be joining you Mrs F. Although I have had back ache since 4am, so maybe things are starting to move for me.

Inlaws are coming over soon, to hlp with the housework again. FIL may cut the grass if it stays dry long enough. Will ask him to put up border in LO's room as well.

dal21 · 01/10/2007 09:18

emj/ mrsf - popped on to see if there was any news. come on little fish and little emj!
