Hi all

Just thought I would get this set up so that we had somewhere to go at the end. Will link to it in the old thread. Can’t believe we reached the limit so soon!!!

@GoldenKirst hehe it’s just all so exciting 💕 xx

Charly82 · 17/02/2020 19:53

Hello, hope it's ok if I can join this group please, due date is 22nd August, hope you're all well xx

Macbless · 17/02/2020 21:39

@StephD2020 I really debated about going skiing this year but in the end decided against it. We'd not be going for another few weeks and I already feel quite big so just think I'd feel slow and bit too cautious. Not sure when we'll get back to skiing. I'd love to have 2 children and I'm already 37 so can't really wait around once this one is born.

Congratulations @sezzywoowoo21 that's lovely. I'm 17 weeks today (so actually a July baby - bit only found out at the 12week scan) but we've decided not to find out. Every time someone does a gender announcement I question whether we've done the right thing but I'm sure we'll be happy with decision once we get a bit closer to the end.

I definitely feel like I'm getting some movements. They come and go and I don't think I'm at the point of feeling them all the time but occasionally there is a really strong feeling of something moving! Looking forward to feeling it more.

Macbless · 17/02/2020 21:41

Welcome @charly82
Congratulations- have you had your 12 week scan recently? X

Charly82 · 18/02/2020 08:57

@macbless yes 12 week scan booked in tomorrow and I've got the harmony test this afternoon.
I was a bit late booking in with my midwife so I'm just over 13 weeks apparently now.
How many weeks are you? X

Murree · 18/02/2020 09:51

Hello lovely ladies, I'm 14 weeks today.
Can I ask when others got their appointment for the 16 week midwife visit?
I text my midwives and one text back (a week later) saying the other would be in touch to book it but I still haven't heard anything!
Should I give them a few more days and ring the office? Feel a little stranded haha

DanielleG96 · 18/02/2020 10:39

@Murree Hi Muree, I have my 16 week appointment today however I was told you have to book appointments yourself so I did that straight after my 12 week scan

Murree · 18/02/2020 13:10

I think I'll give it a couple more days then ring the main office and leave a message there.
Just dont want to be forget Confused

GoldenKirst · 18/02/2020 14:25

@Murree the midwife booked mine when I saw her at 8 weeks! I would ring and ask as don't want to leave it and then have to wait a month for an appointment Smile

Macbless · 18/02/2020 21:36

@charly82 hope your 12 week scan went well. I'm 17 weeks. I was meant to be due in August but the 12 week scan brought me forward a week to July but I'd already settled into this group so decided to stay!
Really feeling so much better this week. No nausea and much less tired. Keep meaning to do some exercise but then find other things to fill my evenings!

@Murree my 16 week (which is actually 17weeks!) is on Thursday and I booked it with the midwife when I had my booking appointment but it does sound like everywhere does it differently! Giving them a cal sounds like a good idea. Xx

Macbless · 18/02/2020 21:38

@charly82 - got it the wrong way around! Hope harmony went ok - do you have a scan with that or just bloods and the nhs scan goes on tomorrow 🤣

lucylocksmithx · 19/02/2020 00:01

Hello, I'm due 11th August I'm 15+1! My first child so very nervous :)

Murree · 19/02/2020 09:10

Well I rang the office, spoke to a midwife.... got cut off... and now it's just answer phone so have left a message! Angry
Let's see if someone rings me back in the next 24hrs!
I will get this bloody appointment haha

Nellie3 · 20/02/2020 08:37

How's everyone doing? Congratulations to anyone who's just joined.

I'm now 15+5 and finally feeling so much better. My skin has cleared up, very little nausea, and eating again normally. My tummy has popped a bit too, all this seemed to happen literally over a few days which is bizarre but really nice. It probably partly because I'm in half term so a week off work for me.

I've been looking into what you need to buy for a new born and fell down a hole of YouTube hauls and nursery tours. I wish I hasn't, some of the videos were of people who had everything you could possibly think of for a baby and it was so organised and glamorous. It's left me feeling overwhelmed with the amount of products there are. Any one else? Xxx

Dollywilde · 20/02/2020 08:48

@Nellie3 15+1 here! I know the feeling. I’m miles better except I’m still sleeping for England and have developed a ravenous appetite! Lovely to fancy things that aren’t toast and crackers though Grin

I’m trying to stay away from the IG/YouTube brigade and stIck with the MN lists and similar. I figure it’s like wedding planning - seems insurmountable until you break it down Smile we’re starting with pram and cot and car seat (we’re not going to go travel system, so one set of GPs is doing the pram and the other set are doing cot and car seat - we’re super grateful). Hoping once those 3 bits are done it’ll feel much easier! Plus I’m reassuring myself that we have Amazon Prime and live in a city - if we miss something out and then discover we need it, it’s one night tops until we can get it. Our flat is a 2 bed but quite small so minimalism is key!

Nellie3 · 20/02/2020 09:11

@Dollywilde that's a good way to think about it, if you don't have something it will be easy to get. I also live in a 2 bed flat so don't have space for unnecessary things. Have you chosen your pushchair etc? Again it seems like there's so many options it's hard to know where to start. Only 1 of my friends has a baby and I'm bombarding her with questions!

PandaPink · 20/02/2020 10:15

Hi all Smile
16 +5 here and was sick this morning. It's about twice a week now instead of every day.
I wouldn't become pressure by YouTube and Instagram etc. I've been so lucky had 3 boxes of clothes given to me from relatives (mostly girls clothes) so hopefully it's a girl! But either way there's still loads of neutral.
I've bought a 2nd hand snuzpod crib and a 2nd hand sleepyhead deluxe. I know 2nd hand isn't everyone's cup of tea but if it's clean enough and can be washed I don't see the point in it going into landfill!

So yesterday I had a crying meltdown whilst driving home due to the way I was spoken to at work by my manager. Because I'm high risk I have lots of appoiments and antenatal care to attend. I basically feel like this is an inconvenience for my work. But it's my right!!

Anyway through fault of my own I ended up going past traffic police doing over the limit in a 30 (tears were streaming) and now I'm convinced I have a ticket! Which will result in points. I just needed to rant!

I hope everyone is feeling less emotional than me! X

Dollywilde · 20/02/2020 12:08

@Nellie3 I'm narrowing it down on the pram front! We worked out what our needs were which were:

  • Don't need the car seat to clip in and out as the car seat will 'live' in the car to save space
  • Would like a carrycot which is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping (tip from my friend who said that hers never settled in a travel cot as it was unfamiliar and they were much happier doing overnights away from home in the pram carrycot)
  • Need something that's relatively compact due to space issues and the fact we only have a Fiesta
  • Something with relatively substantial wheels - both our families live rurally so while we're not planning on taking the pram on hikes or anything it would be good if it could handle terrain slightly rougher than smooth tarmac
  • Colour and style - I need to like it Grin

Off the back of that I have a shortlist and there's an out-of-town place near us that apparently stacks a whole range of prams that you can go and 'test drive', so planning to go there in a few weeks and see how they all feel (and if they do actually fit in the car boot).

Re cots we're thinking of a side along one so at the moment just reading reviews! No idea yet on car seats (need to clean out the inside of the car first as it's a tip...)

@pandapink Oh gosh it sounds like you've had a real couple of days of it! Glad your sickeness is going down but work really don't have a right to make you feel like that Sad at the end of the day work is important but nothing is worth gambling baby's health for and your manager should understand that. I will keep everything crossed you don't get a ticket - you never know, maybe they clocked the tears and decided to let you off Wink x

16 + 3 today Smile just had my 16 week appointment with the midwife and got to hear baby's heartbeat which has put me at ease! I was feeling anxious this week but think the atmosphere at work contributed Sad

Had a big rant to my manager today about 1 person in particular and feel a lot better, plus have a week off next week so only tomorrow to get through! Hoping to start getting organised upstairs so we can start buying and maybe have a look around the shops Smile

EL1984 · 20/02/2020 16:01

Hi,

I've just had my 16 week appointment this morning. Was fairly quick, she went over my blood results, took blood pressure and a urine test and listened to baby's heart beat. No needles this time!

I've started looking at things to buy. We also live in a 2 bed flat so will only get the bare minimum to begin with. We are redecorating in April/May so will need to move everything out and stay at MIL for a few weeks so I'll need to hold back on purchasing anything until June.
I have plenty of friends with babies so will get their advice on what the essentials are.

Think I'll try and get a few things second hand or I'm sure friends/relatives will pass stuff on. Facebook market place is good, I'm currently selling all the furniture in our spare room on there to make way for the nursery.

@PandaPink I hope you're nausea disappears soon... can't go on for too much longer surely Confused

NamiSwan · 21/02/2020 11:43

17+1 today and first thing this morning I had a bit of brown discharge when I wiped.... freaking out a bit. Had a very small (dark brown) clot at 10.30 when I wiped. Very small, like a few mm across.

Any advice? No pain or anything, and I heard the babies heartbeat at my 16 week appointment a week ago. Can't help but worry 😔 has anyone else had anything like this?

PandaPink · 21/02/2020 15:55

@NamiSwan this can be perfectly normal. But the only way you'll know for sure is to phone the maternity unit and ask for advice.
I'm sure everything is fine it'll just be from old blood everything moving and stretching will have dislodged it x

Jojo19834 · 21/02/2020 17:34

@NamiSwan call the midwife if you haven’t. Really does sound like it will be nothing especially as you heard the heartbeat.

NamiSwan · 21/02/2020 18:29

Thanks @pandapink and @jojo19834, I rang my midwife and she said not to worry at the moment, it can be perfectly normal. Just to put a pad on and keep an eye on it. If it gets heavier or if I experience pain to call 111 for advice. Still feeling a bit stressed about it but not much I can do but hope I'm one of those people who experience this type of thing and have a perfectly healthy baby at the end of it.
