Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

@Millettmum congratulations! Hope you're all doing ok.

Hi all, Lainey Grace arrived yesterday! Had electro acupuncture to induce on Wednesday and contractions started 5 hours later. She arrived at 5.15pm on 16th weighing a whopping 9ib 11oz. Still in hospital as she got stuck and had to have forceps and also she had poo inside so she's been moved to neonatal at the mo for monitoring. Hopefully be heading home tomorriw! One happy mumma 😊

Just checking back in to see how everyone is doing and we have an Ella and a Lainey Grace with us how! Many congratulations @Millettmum and @LisaxMarie!

My little boy is a month old today and we’ve had a difficult start with a few hospital stays, he was very small to begin with at 4lbs 8oz but he is starting to show signs of good growth. We had to introduce formula to do so however as E’s breast milk had potentially been impacted by nipple trauma leading to the baby not latching properly. His tongue tie division also changed how he latched and caused him much unhappiness too, which is strange. But we feel we are on the way up again. Either way, I love this little guy, and can’t get enough of him to the point I’m enjoying the night feeds especially when it’s just me and him. Wonderful.

All the best to everyone here.

Aw congratulations on the new arrivals!

My son Charlie arrived on Tuesday at 7:24am weighing 8lbs! He's just perfect 💙

I had a crazy experience.. went in for induction on Monday afternoon and was given a 24 hour pessary. After a few hours I was in so much pain but the midwives kept saying pain was normal and gave me paracetamol. They got annoyed with me pacing the corridor and put me in the bath twice. I got out and said I was in so much pain I had no idea how I'd cope with actual labour and got so upset. They offered to check me to see how I was progressing and to their shock I was already 8cm dilated! We called my husband to join and they very quickly wheeled me to the birth centre and got me in the pool (which we thought was no longer possible due to induction!)... what an experience! Labour was recorded as 4 hours long 😂

@AutumnDazed wow that's gone so quickly! We are having trouble too ☹️ tongue tie spotted straight away by midwife and we couldn't get any colostrum from my boobs. Have been hand expressing but still no luck. Offering both boobs before giving formula with the hope my milk will come in soon and Charlie will take to it. We aren't sure yet if the tongue tie will affect him. I'm on the fence about whether it should be done or not.

I had my 38 week appointment today, and everything is still looking good, so that's reassuring. Baby is at 2/5 engaged, so hopefully it won't be too much longer. I was having a bad day of disappointment & frustration yesterday, after surges of period-type pains in the wee small hours that then didn't turn into anything, but feeling a lot better about it all today.

Who else is still waiting for their little one to arrive? How are you feeling?

AutumnDazed · 17/07/2020 12:39

Ah @RedRobin7 massive congratulations to you and your family for Charlie’s arrival. 7:24am was the exact time my little boy, Eamon, was born so it’s a special time now haha. After all this time of waiting and chatting it out and our little ones are here now, amazing.

Sorry to hear you’ve had troubles feeding, E’s milk took around four days to come in, and she was only getting colostrum from one breast herself until that point. After that, it became easier until the tongue tie division. Have to be honest, there was a huge amount of pressure piled on by midwives for E to breast feed while she and Eamon were in hospital and given some of the issues we’ve had since, we wish we had listened to ourselves earlier on re combination feeding. Eamon has been back in hospital after gaining no weight over the last week, but since Weds, when we switched him over to combination feeding, he’s put on 100g. I’m sure everything will be fine for you and Charlie re feeding, but it’s a lot all at once just after birth, so I empathise with you!

On a separate note, thank you for all your support over the last nine months, you always made me feel welcomed and part of this group, and I learned a huge amount here. You’re going to be a fabulous mum, and Charlie is a lucky boy to have you.

RedRobin7 · 17/07/2020 15:28

@AutumnDazed Wow that's some great timing from our boys! Our midwives were supposed to finish their shift at 7am but wanted to wait for Charlie to arrive after all the excitement!

I'm glad Eamon has put on some weight so you don't have to worry as much. It's a shame there's so much pressure on breast feeding. I did actually feel like there was a lot of support in hospital and all the midwives were happy to sit with me and take time to help but Charlie didn't have anything for the first 20 hours and I felt so guilty even though they kept telling me that was fine. They eventually gave him some formula from a cup when I asked. I had taken pre-made bottles but they suggested the cup feeding to avoid confusion. We also could have been discharged on Tuesday (6 hours after birth) instead of Thursday if we were formula feeding so I felt bad that we were only still there because I was failing him. Now that we are offering formula he's still not drinking loads so I hope he hasn't lost too much weight when we have our 5 day check on Sunday.

Oh thank you that's so kind but really no need to thank me. I think it's great you are being supportive and helping your wife every step of the way! Sometimes my husband doesn't say or do the right things so it's nice when other men make the effort 😊 keep us posted on how you're all doing. Remember this new journey is hard for you too so we are here to support you and your feelings!

Congrats guys 😊
38+5 over here and waiting patiently! Or not so at times 😂 booked in for a sweep in a fortnight if nothing has happened before then.
I was in PAU last night with reduced movements but the little diva was dancing away in there as soon as I got hooked up to the monitor! Had a scan today and all is looking great. Guesstimated weight at present is 6lb 7. Baby's head is well down into my pelvis.

squirrelnutkins1 · 21/07/2020 10:54

Did anyone get to 39 weeks and feel like their body just wants to give up?!? I feel like I've been hit by several buses!
