New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

@Doodles93 Yes very similar! First baby as well (and pregnancy, sorry to hear about your recent MC btw Sad) ! It wasn't planned, but we are getting on with it.. both quite excited now.

I had my booking appointment today, it feels a lot more real now, I got my note book, etc..

rosamundos · 13/12/2019 19:48

Hello :) Thanks for new thread.

Age 36
Third pregnancy (son born in Dec 2016 & then a MMC summer this year)
EDD 19 July
Scan on 30th Dec & I've got the NIPT blood test booked that week too. Bit nervous due to miscarriage

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 19:53

Anyone else have the theory that when the sickness is so bad and feel sick 24-7 it's a girl? Cos I didn't have any of this with my son.. I feel like I've been hit buy a bus !! I'm 10 +2 now hoping once I hit the 2nd trimester I will feel somewhat human!!

Dafs123 · 13/12/2019 19:57

Age: 32

EDD: 14/7/20 same day as DS birthday 😭
12 week scan: 7th jan

rhiiila · 13/12/2019 19:59

Hey all!

This is my first pregnancy.
I am 30, 9 weeks today, EDD is July 18 and found out today that my 12 week scan is on January 7th I'm so nervous and excited that there is finally a date to see if everything is ok!!

@redrobin7 I got my letter for my scan today! Thanks for the encouragement and new thread set up!!

Kiki275 · 13/12/2019 20:03

@Rainbow2020 I was so sure my 1st was a boy, zero sickness but lots of gas. Lots of my colleagues have had girls though and no sickness. I'm really not certain this time as I know every pregnancy is different. My MW said her two girls were totally different pregnancies.
I'm inclined towards it being a girl even though I see myself as a mum of boys. Team yellow all the way 💛💛💛 x

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 20:07

@Kiki275 I just know loads of ppl that are in the same boat as me and they have all been girls.. I'll be happy either way!! Just wondered if anyone else had the theory behind it xx

Kiki275 · 13/12/2019 21:08

@Rainbow2020 Dr Google says that it's thought girls mean higher hormone levels, which in turn means higher sickness levels. Will you be finding out early or waiting until they arrive?x

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 21:13

Haha I darent google anything 🤦🏻‍♀️ yeah we will be finding out early I'm too excited to wait 🥰

Kiki275 · 13/12/2019 21:26

@Rainbow2020 exciting! Will you have an early gender scan?
My NCT friend has literally just announced she's expecting a boy. Little sickness with DD, hospitalised with HG this time. It's crazy! Ah well, only 34 weeks for me to keep second guessing 😂 x

RedRobin7 · 13/12/2019 21:29

Nice to see some new names 😊

@NimmuGreen I think you will be our first person to have the 12 week scan! Good luck ❤️

@misselphaba When I see your name I start singing songs from Wicked in my head lol.

@rhiiila Glad you didn't have to wait long for the letter! Christmas will go so quickly you won't have long to wait.

My mum always likes to look at the Chinese calendar as apparently it's very accurate (lol)... according to that I'm having a girl!

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 21:33

@Kiki275 yeah we probably will cos on the anomaly scan if they can't see the sex the won't go out the way to check!! You u having a suprise?? How exciting xx

Kiki275 · 13/12/2019 21:42

@Rainbow2020 yes, a surprise for us. DS was a surprise too, but then I was so off my tits on pain relief/Adrenalin etc. by the time he was hauled out into the world, he could have been a mini chewbaccer and Id have still been "oh yes, very nice Zzzzzz" 😂 x

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 21:49

@Kiki275 hahah how funny! How was ur first labour? Mine was horrendous 23.5 hours of it!!! Then he had the cord wrapped round his neck 3 times then had to be rushed to nicu with breathing difficulties so I dint see him for hours!! Hoping this one will be nice and easy!!! Haha xx

Wayekalb · 13/12/2019 21:54

Hey everyone, I'm 32. Second baby. My first is a little girl who is 3.5 years old. Due date is estimated 14th July and scan is the 9th Jan. Will be 13.5 weeks by the time of my scan!

Kiki275 · 13/12/2019 22:10

@Rainbow2020 I was induced at 42 weeks, never made it past 4cm. EMCS due to his heart-rate, the he had a pneumothorax and was sent straight to NICU. I think it was 6 hours before I saw him so I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm really chilled out about another labour but so hope it's a "normal" birth with immediate contact/cuddles.x

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 22:19

@Kiki275 yeah sounds a bit like mine he had to be pulled out by forceps.. I was very close to a c section.. I'm actually looking forward to the birth cos I know what I'm gonna get a t the end

Ethellsmum · 13/12/2019 22:28

38, pregnant with my surprise 5th baby. 9 weeks today, no date for scan yet. I’m toying with the idea of booking a private scan for next week but I’m scared in tempting fate by doing so! Pregnancy makes me so irrational 🤦‍♀️

LisaxMarie · 13/12/2019 22:58

Ladies who have children already. Any birthing tips for us newbies? Everyone is telling me to have epidural because it’s excruciating but I really want a water birth so now I’m torn between the two!

Rainbow2020 · 13/12/2019 23:03

@LisaxMarie I'd have An epidural again I didn't get option for water birth last time but while I was at home the bath really helped I didn't wanna get out!! So my advice is if u can hack the pain in the water go for it!!

Kiki275 · 14/12/2019 08:13

@LisaxMarie best advice I can give is to have no plan. Every birth is different, every ones pain threshold is too. Have the ideal scenario in your head but be open minded as to what other options are available. There are pros and cons to epidurals, if the thought of any pain terrifies you then ask for one early. If you'd like to be mobile and/or have a water birth, then go with the flow. And please, please, please don't be guided by anyone else's bad birth stories. There seems to be a competition amongst existing mums to see who had the worst, which can terrify new mums. Do your research and choose what is best for you, make sure your birthing partner is fully clued up too x

RedRobin7 · 14/12/2019 08:29

@LisaxMarie I think it's so so hard to make a decision! I would love a water birth but I know things don't always go to plan. The idea of an epidural scares me because I suffer from hemiplegic migraines and one side of my body goes numb during an attack so I'm worried I'll just be thinking I'm going to get a migraine the whole time. I temporarily have limited vision too. I'm very scared I'll get one during or after pregnancy! At the same time the idea of an epidural and not being in pain could help prevent a migraine. Not sure, maybe I'm thinking too much about it already.

After my hysteroscopy this year my migraine was so bad they thought I'd had a stroke and I had to have a brain scan. Thankfully I didn't. They think it was the anaesthetic that caused the severe migraine. It took weeks to be able to talk properly again as I was saying all the wrong things! Scares me so much! I'll mention it to my midwife when I see her for the first time this week.

dragonmummy17 · 14/12/2019 08:33

Hi everyone checking in. Thanks for the new thread.
Age 37 edd 6th July
Scan date 27th November
3rd pregnancy but 2nd child

I'm struggling a little with anxiety this week because my mc was Christmas Day last year so everything feels mixed up with the Christmas build up. Even going for the scan will be hard because I had 2 scans over the Christmas period last year either side of the mc. I'm just trying to remind myself that I'm already further this year, and I've been so sick that its hard not to imagine that everything is ok this time
@LisaxMarie know your options so you can make decisions at the time. When DS was born it was the opposite of what I wanted but I stuck to my guns about staying active despite the monitors and drips. I did ask for an epidural but I was too late. I think knowing your options gives you more control however you end up giving birth

Anyone else thinking of a home birth? I'm really keen but DH really isn't...

dragonmummy17 · 14/12/2019 08:34

Sorry should say scan date 27th December!

Ethellsmum · 14/12/2019 09:25

I’ve never had an epidural - just gas and air except for my first which was much longer and I had pethidine. I can’t have water births either as I’m group B strep positive so need antibiotics in Labour.

I never make a birth plan - I just go with the flow really as every birth is so different.
