New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

@AutumnDazed glad your wife is doing so well. That's really great to hear. How are you feeling about the slight gender disappointment now?

@RedRobin7 @PixieN congrats on your boy and girl 😄

We're team pink, found out last week at a private scan. Got our 20 week scan in a fortnight so hoping they will say the same cus I've already bought a couple of girl things! 🤣

Bibinka · 19/02/2020 17:59

We will be having our 20 week anomaly scan this Friday and also feeling much more reassured now about the pregnancy with the bump growing and moving occasionally. DH is planning to take 3 weeks paternity leave and then we plan some parental shared leave for a few months. I'm self employed so don't get leave, just allowance but husband is employed so he qualifies for leave. Will probably take it in 3 blocks with some KIT or SPLIT days. He would love to have the whole year if he could but it would greatly affect our income. Haven't started on nursery..baby is staying in our room I think for up to the first year but will start buying stuff.

Does anyone know where to buy child/baby car safety seats? I hear it's best to try them out rather than buy from the internet.

AutumnDazed · 19/02/2020 18:13

Hi @squirrelnutkins1 the slight disappointment has completely gone haha, as everyone suggested it would Smile

The fact we now are referring to the baby as our son, our boy and the like has been brilliant. So unbelievably excited Grin

Kiki275 · 19/02/2020 19:05

@Bibinka baby shows are great for trying prams, as are most shops tailored to baby stuff. Online is however great for actually buying them as you can take advantage of online offers and new customer discounts. I bought DS a car seat and pram last Easter and saved 5-10% from comparing offers x

Kiki275 · 19/02/2020 19:11

@AutumnDazed I sort of did have DH around all the time as we live on the family farm. I finished 4 weeks before due date and DS was 2 weeks late.... those 6 weeks were sooooo tedious. Having DH around to go on day trips, lunches etc. would have been fab in my book, especially as driving became a bit uncomfortable with SPD.
If it's financially viable, then yes go for it but that time off might be better saved for after baby arriving when getting out the house becomes a million times harder x

RedRobin7 · 19/02/2020 19:30

@Bibinka We're going to look in John Lewis and Smiths Toy Store. The latter has been recommended.

AutumnDazed · 19/02/2020 20:08

Thanks @Kiki275, yeah, that’s the plan at the moment, for me to take a few months off from next February maybe. The baby will be around 7 months old then, so E will have around 5 months left of her maternity, and we can just spend time together as a family. It’ll be tight financially, but potentially doable and is not the sort of opportunity that comes around too often. Thanks for your input :)

Bibinka · 19/02/2020 20:32

Thanks @Kiki275 and @RedRobin7 . I didn't realise there were baby shows, and would never have thought of Smiths Toy Store!

LisaxMarie · 27/02/2020 12:58

Hi all, I’ve been away for a while with Christmas and moving house it’s been so hectic! Congratulations on the boys and girls! How exciting is this time! Finding out genders and feeling the babies moving! I’m 20+1 today and found out a private scan last week that it’s a pink one! Anyone else been binge watching birthing vlogs?

squirrelnutkins1 · 27/02/2020 17:58

Ah congrats on your girl and house move! @LisaxMarie We're moving in a few weeks too. Not looking forward to the upcoming chaos but it'll be worth it I'm sure.
Got my 20 week scan late next week. I'll be 19+4. So anxious but looking forward to seeing my girl again (well hopefully the 16 week scan was correct!)

LisaxMarie · 27/02/2020 18:15

@squirrelnutkins1 ahh good luck with the move! You’ll be nesting away once you get those keys! Ahh my 20 week scan is tomorrow and I’m sad that I now won’t see her until she’s born 😂 ah you’re having a girl too! Congrats! It is worrying isn’t it..... ive already bought so much pink stuff!

squirrelnutkins1 · 27/02/2020 21:58

@LisaxMarie all the best for tomorrow 😊 I've been trying not to buy too much with moving but have bought a couple of cute bits. All very exciting. Happy nesting in your new home 😊 xx

Bcottle · 28/02/2020 05:37

Hi all! I’m a newbie here! 19 weeks and found out yesterday we are having a girl. Haven’t really slept from processing it all!! Very excited and also started hypnobirthing which has made me (maybe slightly deludedly) not scared of labour at all and just excited about what is to come. Only downside is that they found a 6cm ovarian cyst but I was given a consultant appointment within 11 days (thank you NHS!) so I’m trying not to worry about it. Anyone had similar at this stage? I know it’s common in the first trimester but it should have gone by now... hope you’re all doing well! Smile

WeeScottishWife · 28/02/2020 19:04

Is anyone in/around London & going to the baby show at the ExCel this weekend? Husband & I are going tomorrow morning. We've not done any shopping or research so far, so just really keen to see what there is, and maybe get ideas about things we haven't realised we need yet! We're not planning to buy things, just look, so let's see if we stick to that :)

RedRobin7 · 29/02/2020 07:59

@LisaxMarie Welcome back! Hope you're very happy in your new home. Have you joined our fb group?

@squirrelnutkins1 Good luck with the move!

@Bcottle Welcome and congratulations! I've known a few people with cysts and it's all been fine. Would you like to join our fb group? You might get more response on there.

@WeeScottishWife I wanted to go but we were put off having to buy tickets lol 🙈 Hope you have a good time!

Thank you @RedRobin7! No I’m not on fb 🙂

LisaxMarie · 29/02/2020 08:08

Unless I could join under my husbands name? @RedRobin7

RedRobin7 · 29/02/2020 08:34

@LisaxMarie We had a group discussion recently about letting men join - the majority of the group were fine with it but we had a few people feel uncomfortable. So even though you'd be behind your husband's account, they might not feel comfortable ☹️ sorry. Maybe you could set up an account, just to join the group and you can turn off friend requests? Something to think about as you get closer to having bub and needing that middle of the night support when we're all awake doing night feeds!

Bcottle · 29/02/2020 08:56

@RedRobin7 I would love to join the Facebook group! How do I find it? It’s so great to have support from people going through the same thing!
Thanks! Becki

LisaxMarie · 29/02/2020 20:23

Ah no worries. I’ll stick to MN 🙂

AutumnDazed · 29/02/2020 22:03

Hi all, E and I went to the Baby Show at the Excel today and it was really good! Granted, as first time parents we have a lot to learn so maybe for people with a child already may not find it so useful. But we had a great time, E got a lot of things she was looking for, including the Elvie breast pump all her friends rave about and at 15% off too. We bought a Snuzpod for our bedroom which looks great and she got lots of nursing bras and nighties which she was over the moon with. They had an awful lot of car seats and pushchairs for anyone who is going tomorrow and looking for this sort of thing, we’ve already got ours (we are perhaps a little eager) but some really good deals there from what I saw.

Anyway, hope everyone is happy and healthy!

Izabela86 · 01/03/2020 12:10

Hello,
I’ve been quiet for a while... we had our 20 week scan on Thursday. Everything looked good but we were told that the right ventricle of our baby girl is borderline ventriculomegaly. It measured 10.2mm (norm is up to 10mm). We are seeing a consultant on Tuesday. I’m worried sick (although been told by the lady doing the scan that I should not worry or read stuff online)... just wondered if anyone came across this at all?
