New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

@squirrelnutkins1
We've said grandparents can come round and hold baby (after washing hands) but will hold off on others until we're settled x

RedRobin7 · 24/06/2020 15:02

@AutumnDazed Oh my gosh, I've stopped getting notifications and only just caught up! Congratulations on the birth of your son! I hope they're both home now and you're enjoying being a family of 3. So pleased little man is okay despite being early and so small!

@squirrelnutkins1 I'm hiding indoors today with the windows and blinds closed. Foolishly decided to batch cook this morning which was too hot. Now lying on the sofa with the fan on me!

We won't be allowing any one to hold the baby. Only garden visits at 2ms. Even though the government are relaxing the restrictions the virus is still out there and I just want to protect my baby and my immediate family. My parents are still shielding so they will also only want to see baby without holding him as there's a risk to them too. It's so hard though. My sister had a baby 3 weeks ago and I wish I could meet her properly but only seen her once in a field ☹️

Both sets of grandparents live too far away to just do single-day visits (5 hour drive for one pair, 10 hour drive for the other) but they're both in rural areas and have been carefully social distancing, so we're sticking to the original plan we had of them visiting and staying with us soon after the birth. My mum will come down for a couple of weeks if she can (she's a teacher so will have to go back to work in mid-August, and baby is due right at the end of July, so it really depends when baby actually arrives!), and after that, MIL will come for a long weekend.

We really are only comfortable with this because we know how isolated they've been over the past couple of months, and that they're sticking to that for these last few weeks until the baby arrives.

I'm honestly quite nervous at the moment with things opening up, just trying to make sure I protect me & husband the best I can, wearing our masks when we have to go to the supermarket and keeping distant from others we pass when we're out for a walk, and trying not to stress about what's not in my control. Much easier said than done! I'm desperate for cafes & restaurants to be open again but at the same time, I would not feel safe going to them at the moment and sitting close to other tables of people.

Hi I'm new to mumsnet (well I finally decided to sign up after lurking for a long time). Due DC2 on 18th July, have a little boy who is 19 months and getting excited about meeting little brother or sister now. At the minute I'm hoping for a spontaneous eviction before the heatwave really sets in! Although not sure cluster feeding a newborn in the heat will be better than being pregnant in it!

WeeScottishWife · 28/06/2020 12:03

How is everyone feeling today? x

LisaxMarie · 28/06/2020 12:36

Feeling OK thanks and you? Definitely ready for baby to arrive now though. 38 week appointment on Thursday x

Millettmum · 28/06/2020 12:48

Very tired and fed up, really want baby out before I'm induced on Thursday. Can't wait for hip/pelvis pain to go. Wow I sound really grumpy ha x

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/06/2020 16:03

Puffy ankles and insomnia over here. 36 weeks today, eek!

Millettmum · 28/06/2020 16:33

The cooler weather I so much better though!

39+3

LisaxMarie · 28/06/2020 16:46

Yea the insomnia is the bane of my existence right now. Been like it for like 3 months 😓

joannew4 · 28/06/2020 19:57

Absolutely exhausted here today (37+1). Had been doing well but feel like all my energy has been drained, almost like I'm coming down with the flu but no other symptoms. Toddler is just over to sleep and think I might just go to bed too. Zzzzzzzzz

WeeScottishWife · 29/06/2020 09:06

@Millettmum fingers crossed for you - exciting to know that baby will be here very soon though, I think :)

I'm getting super uncomfortable at night now, it just feels like there's so much weight in my tummy & finding a comfy way to lie and prop up my bump is a bit of a struggle. 35+4, getting closer...

LisaxMarie · 05/07/2020 22:51

How is everyone?

How close are you all to your dates and have you had any signs or symptoms of labour yet?

Mysa74 · 05/07/2020 23:28

Hi Lisa Marie and everyone, all fine here.38+6 and counting... No signs yet, wondering if this little one will be two weeks late or will be the first in my family to turn up early... My husband is slightly more relaxed this time with V he barely let me out of his sight and was constantly looking at me as if I was an unexploded bomb with the timer ticking Grin

RedRobin7 · 06/07/2020 08:36

40+4 today, occasional period type cramps which don't last long. Feeling very fed up! Just want to meet baby and wanted to avoid being induced but he's starting to make me think he's not coming on his own!!

OP posts:
WeeScottishWife · 06/07/2020 08:59

36+4, really looking forward to my midwife appointment tomorrow to hear about what size the baby might be now... she'd been showing as quite large, then not changed, but this will be the first time where it's the same midwife taking the measurement as did it last time. I'm feeling like that's more likely to give an accurate look at the changes, if not the size itself, seeing as she'll presumably measure the same way each time. Also kind of hoping that baby still shows as large because it certainly feels that way! I don't want to go all the way to 42 weeks, I'm getting so uncomfortable now.

LisaxMarie · 06/07/2020 09:18

Ah I'm 38+5 today. I measured big at 34 week appointment so got sent for scan but they measured me at 36 weeks saying she was around 6 ib 6 oz then so expecting her to be 8.5ib ish if she arrives on time. She'll be a chub if I go two weeks over. Been drinking raspberry leaf tea for the last 4-5 days which seems to have bought on strong bh but that's about it! Got stretch and sweep booked the day after her due date (16th). @RedRobin7 fingers crossed you don't have to be induced.

LisaxMarie · 07/07/2020 22:46

Had anyone thought about using acupuncture to indie Labour?

I used to help with conception so I've booked in to give it a go at 39+4.

It gave me the best nights sleep when I've had it before so even if it doesn't induce me at least I'll have a good night's sleep to look forward to I guess!

I've been eating lots of pineapple and drinking raspberry leaf tea also! COME ON BABY 😂😂

LisaxMarie · 07/07/2020 22:47

Induce**

joannew4 · 07/07/2020 22:55

@lisaxmarie I haven't thought of acupuncture but have aromatherapy reflexology booked for tomorrow morning. Even if it doesn't help induce labour at least it's a nice relaxing hour to myself

LisaxMarie · 07/07/2020 23:08

Ooh nice! Enjoy! My thoughts exactly, if it doesn't work, it's still a nice relaxing hour! How far along are you?

joannew4 · 08/07/2020 03:36

I'm 38+4 but my husband can only take time off work starting next Monday for 2 weeks and not any later, so was hoping to try and kickstart things if possible before then.

Millettmum · 08/07/2020 03:41

Baby Ella was born Sunday morning at 8:06 weighing 6lb 8oz x

LisaxMarie · 08/07/2020 06:33

@joannew4 ahh fingers crossed for you. I didn't think employers were allowed to dictate when maternity/paternity leave could be taken! Especially since a woman could go 2 weeks over in which case your husband would miss out completely 🙁

@Millettmum huge congrats on your little bundle. Hope you are hoth doing well

Mysa74 · 08/07/2020 09:33

Congratulations @millettmum
Good luck everyone else, can't believe how quickly time has gone by, I'm due next Tuesday but fully expecting to go two weeks over. Will be pleasently surprised if baby turns up of its own accord, would definitely rather avoid a sweep, last time the tiny phillipino midwife and the huge male registrar fought it out and boxing glove hands won...
