New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

Oh I bet! I've been home since lockdown with 3 children so well and truly fed up now 🙈 were in the final bit now! Phew!
I dont remember being this uncomfortable though! Midwife said hes head down but wasnt engaged a week ago. I wonder if hes started engaging and that's why I feel so much pressure! Xx

LisaxMarie · 06/06/2020 06:55

I've had some strange symptoms appear the last couple of weeks including carpal tunnel and a really sore tail bone both of which are apparently normal! Other than that the leaky boobs have started too.

Had my 34 week appointment on Thursday and I've been referred for a growth scan as bump is measuring on the big side. Midwife says little misses head is on the brim of the pelvis now.

Hope everyone else is going well. Xx

AutumnDazed · 12/06/2020 19:24

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well.

My wife, E, and I found today she will be induced early next week as they’ve diagnosed IUGR as our baby is measuring in the 3rd percentile. We are both a little scared as to what could possibly be causing him to be so small and what it might mean for his health. It’s also made E very upset that I won’t be allowed in the hospital whilst she is being induced - I won’t be allowed to join her until she is in active labour. If they have to stay in, I’ll be allowed to be with them for a maximum of 90 minutes a day. I completely understand the restrictions with everything that’s going on, but it doesn’t make it any easier for E, or me.

Do any of you have any experience with IUGR and anything you can share that might help ease our minds at all? Sorry, I appreciate all births and babies are different but just looking for a bit of positivity really!

LisaxMarie · 12/06/2020 20:20

Sorry no experience here (Actually being sent for scans for the opposite reason) but wanted to say thinking of you all. Such a hard time as it is without this worry for you.

AutumnDazed · 12/06/2020 22:28

Thanks @LisaxMarie, much appreciated. Best of luck with your growth scans too, the stress these babies put parents through before they’re even here!

LisaxMarie · 15/06/2020 21:09

@AutumnDazed any news? How are you all doing?

AutumnDazed · 16/06/2020 06:28

Hi @LisaxMarie, we are heading to the hospital this morning for E to be induced. A mixture of nerves and excitement but we are feeling positive and will deal with anything that comes our way. The Hypnobirthing classes we have done should help, and I’ll be allowed in to see E once she’s dilated to 4cm, so hopefully plenty of time for me to help and be supportive for her.

How are you getting on?

LisaxMarie · 16/06/2020 06:31

Ah bless you. Wishing you all the best day! All good here thanks. Growth scan later today. Will be thinking of you guys. Keep us posted 😊

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/06/2020 09:02

@AutumnDazed hope all is well :)

Millettmum · 17/06/2020 09:40

I had my last growth scan yesterday (37+5) everything still good and they're still happy with my readings (for gestational diabetes) but have now said that I will be induced early when they said last time that they will let me go a few days over. I'm to talk to the consultant in a week and have a sweep this Saturday. Had two bouts of loose bowel movements yesterday and one this morning, maybe I'll just start myself before. A little annoyed with the conflicting information.

LisaxMarie · 17/06/2020 10:17

@Millettmum how frustrating for you. Fingers crossed you'll start labour on your own. I had a growth scan yesterday as midwife tape measurement said I was measuring 2 weeks ahead. She is measuring a little bigger but nothing too major. How big is yours measuring?

Millettmum · 17/06/2020 13:01

@LisaxMarie
She's around 6lbs 6oz at the moment, how about you?

LisaxMarie · 17/06/2020 13:12

@Millettmum I'm 36 weeks today and she's also 6ib6oz. They just said she's well grown and has lots of hair 😊

Millettmum · 17/06/2020 13:19

@LisaxMarie
Aw sounds lovely x

Hi all, our little boy was born early this morning via emergency C-section. E had the pessary late yesterday evening after a long day of waiting for a bed to be available, and through the night the baby’s heart rate was dropping quite low, so as she was only 1cm dilated at the time they decided to break her waters in the hope that would speed up the labour and relax the baby, but it was very evident it wouldn’t. So we were advised we would need to go to theatre very shortly after then. The baby weighs 4.8 pounds and was born on 37.2 so very small for his gestational age. Thankfully, he doesn’t appear to have any major concerns and is potentially just small (my wife and I are both too, tbh) but he and E are being kept in today to monitor him primarily and his blood sugars. He’s not feeding very well so we may have to go the formula route which we’d hoped not to. But all the negatives don’t outweigh the positive of this beautiful little man. (I’m not being coy by not naming here or anything, just we aren’t telling anyone the name until he and mum are home).

I’m emotionally drained so I can’t even imagine how E feels, but she found an inner strength unlike anything I’ve ever known to get through it all. Amazing. Because dads can’t stay in our hospital for longer than 90 mins a day (after birth) I’ve been on my own at home since midday, so it’s not the way I’d choose to celebrate becoming a parent, but I’m incredibly lucky. Thanks everyone for all their advice and support over the months. I know it’s weird a dad being here, but I just don’t find men share the sort of thing I was needing in order to better support E through this, so joined up. I’ll keep an eye out for how everyone is doing but just wanted to wish everyone here the best of luck!

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/06/2020 19:21

@AutumnDazed congrats!!!!! So happy baby is here safe and sound. Keep us posted on how you and E are doing :)

LisaxMarie · 17/06/2020 19:30

Amazing news @AutumnDazed. Sending my best wishes to you all. Congratulations 🎉

WeeScottishWife · 18/06/2020 11:47

Aww @AutumnDazed that sounds like it was a tough time, but so lovely for you both to have your little boy with you now, congratulations!

Mysa74 · 18/06/2020 21:29

Congratulations E and @autumndazed hope you're all safely at home together now?
It's so exciting that our group of babies are getting to term and even starting to arrive ...

AutumnDazed · 19/06/2020 12:35

Thank you everyone, you are all so kind. E and the baby are still in the hospital for now, and hoping for tomorrow at the moment to come home. As he was small they wanted a 4-day monitoring of him, and he’s proven to be a reluctant feeder when breastfed, which is understandable given his size and energy required for breastfeed. E is exhausted though having to look after him night and day, without me being able to to help for more than 90 minutes a day. I feel so bad for her, but once they are home I’ll make up for it. The baby is making progress and there’s no longer talk of him heading to the neonatal unit which is great, but I miss him, and E, massively. I think we are over the worst of the early monitoring days and hopefully they can come home soon and we can be a family, finally!

Thank you all again, and best of luck with your remaining days and weeks!

squirrelnutkins1 · 24/06/2020 09:30

How is everyone coping in this heat?! I had my first experience of giant puffy ankles yesterday it was soooo gross ☹️ back to normal today thankfully! I'm super tired and feeling really yuk about myself. I feel fat, hairy and I've got a mask of pigmentation round my eyes ☹️ sorry for the moan lol! I'm 35+3 x

Millettmum · 24/06/2020 10:48

@squirrelnutkins1
I have swollen feet and hands most days but a little further on (38+6), heat is worst for me during the night as our bedroom is so hot but it seems my husband is suffering more than me ha. I also have a little pigmentation under my eye, but read it should go.

LisaxMarie · 24/06/2020 11:05

Yes had the the puffy feet for a couple of weeks now that seem to get worse as the day goes on. Had some period type pains this morning but all clear now. The heat is too much. Even have to have a fan blasting at me just to fold washing 😂 hope everyone is well xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 24/06/2020 12:54

@Millettmum
@LisaxMarie looks like we're all in this together then 😂 I've never felt so unattractive in all my life!

How is everyone feeling about visitors after baby arrives? I've read a few threads on here about family pressure etc. My current feeling is a socially distant visit outside will be ok but I don't think we'll be passing baby round for a while. Even with the relaxed measures I feel I'm ok to make my own rules. I guess I'll see how I feel when baby arrives tho!
