@misspepper8 When's your due date? It sounds positive you're having signs. I've had none at all but only 38 plus 2 still fed up and can't sleep more than an hour without waking up bursting for a wee x

maria94 · 09/03/2020 21:22

Baby girl was born earlier on today, weighing 8.12 after a long 25 hour labour and 2 hours of pushing. Managed on just gas and air and the birthing pool! So so worth the long wait 🥰 hope everyone else is getting on ok x

maria94 · 09/03/2020 21:23

@barnyb sooooo.... do our babies share their birthday?!😄 xxx

barnyb · 09/03/2020 21:41

@maria94 CONGRATULATIONS
MY BABY GIRL BORN TODAY TOO :)

barnyb · 09/03/2020 21:46

24 hours of labour and nearly 3 hours of pushing. Had pethidine which didn't help and then had gas and air which also didn't help me. The last few hours I just did it on my own which I found really difficult. Also had a few hours in the birthing pool but had to come out at the very end because contractions slowed down a lot. I found the whole experience very painful. Ahh not to be down in the dumps about it but I'm just being truthful. However I have my beautiful baby girl who is amazing !
Baby weighs 5.15lb! Very surprised seeing as she was 41 weeks!! They have sent off the placenta to double check they didn't get my dates wrong !
@maria94 can't believe out babies are born the same day :) :) :) so lovely xxxx

MissPepper8 · 09/03/2020 22:04

Oh wow you two! I'm so excited now lol That's amazing! They share the same birthday how wonderful :). Congratulations @barnyb and @maria94 no more sweeps were needed lol x

That's mad @barnyb how wrong they can get a est weight, is she your first baby? x

@Jesskir89 I am 38+5, technically at this time my hind waters went with DS. Im going to loo for um number 2 alot.. Not eaten a lot really to have a bad tummy either. Baby is very low, like i can't walk. Are you drinking raspberry tea? Optimal fetal position I think has helped (like sitting knees lower than hips and leaning slightly forward helps baby engage).

Jesskir89 · 09/03/2020 22:26

@maria94 and @barnyb congratulations! So pleased for you both, I had a feeling as you'd both been quiet on here :) how mad you had the same due date then both went 1 week over! @misspepper8 defo sounds promising keep me posted :) I'm 3 days behind you so when it happens for you hopefully I won't be far behind x

maria94 · 09/03/2020 22:37

@barnyb I feel like we had the exact same birth lol I had to get out the pool for the same reason! Was also told to leave the gas and air alone once I started pushing so that was all done with no pain relief.. ouch!!! Aw what a cute little size. I honestly am so shocked they both came today what are the chances ey! So glad it's all over and done with 🥰 xxxx

maria94 · 09/03/2020 22:38

@Jesskir89 @MissPepper8 thanks girls, hopefully not much longer to go for you both! X

Jesskir89 · 10/03/2020 03:31

@maria94 thank you will keep you posted :)

barnyb · 10/03/2020 05:03

@maria94 that’s crazy !! I wonder if we are stitch sisters too? 👯‍♀️ 😂
@Jesskir89 @MissPepper8 thank you I hope you guys won’t have much longer for your babes 🥰

barnyb · 10/03/2020 05:06

@MissPepper8 I know she’s came out so small I couldn’t believe it! They said she’s completely healthy for the age of a 36/37 week old and the placenta wasn’t of a 41 week old either so they have sent it off to be tested to find out if they did get my dates completely wrong. But I find that so hard to believe. They gave me so many scans! And I had a growth scan two weeks ago and she told me estimated weight was 6.13lbs ! ?? Very strange if you ask me! Just goes to show the growth scans are a load of guessing codswolllop!
Xxx

jollybobs89 · 10/03/2020 07:31

@barnyb @maria94 congratulations guys!!! Amazing news!! Glad to hear it all went well and you have your little babies ❤️❤️❤️❤️

MockingJay27 · 10/03/2020 07:58

Congratulations @barnyb and @maria94!
I am 38+5 today and labour still feels so far away x

jollybobs89 · 10/03/2020 08:06

@MockingJay27 I feel you every day I'm like todays the day 🤣🤣🤣

atomcats · 10/03/2020 08:27

@barnyb @maria94 congratulations birth club twins!! What a coincidence that you have both followed the same birth path! I hope everyone is happy and healthy, even with the question over dates for @barny!

So how many of us are left to go and what are people’s “due” dates? Mine’s not til the 23rd

jollybobs89 · 10/03/2020 08:47

@atomcats my due date is the 25th March as it's my second I've got it in my head that he was going to be early my first was 11 days overdue so I think I'm being very naive haha

Jesskir89 · 10/03/2020 10:00

@atomcats mines 21st I hope I don't go over although they say they will induce me due to GD

MissPepper8 · 10/03/2020 12:51

@atomcats 18th here :), not sure if I want them to induce me. Was hoping these damn sweeps would work x

Im still going lol.. Had a contraction on the loo last night! Same really having a few irregular ones and periody/back pains. This is tiring business lol.

singme · 10/03/2020 13:00

Congratulations @maria94 and @barnyb

So many babies on this thread already.

I’m only 37+2, waiting for 29th March! Loving maternity leave so far. Bit of pressure down low today and midwife thinks 1/5 engaged. Hope everyone is doing well and not too uncomfortable.

atomcats · 10/03/2020 13:55

@jollybobs89 fingers crossed you aren’t waiting too long! 11 days over doesn’t sound fun at all!!

@Jesskir89 have they given you an idea of when they might induce you? How are you feeling about it?

@MissPepper8 how did you find the sweeps? I have my 38 week midwife appointment and I assume the topic will come up. Good news about the contractions, even if they are irregular. I have had absolutely no signs of anything imminent. Starting to think I might be in it for the long haul! I even tried collecting colostrum and managed to get a decent amount without even the slightest of twinge! Sigh...

@singme I’ve just started mat leave too, something really nice about not having to rush around and just chill out! Although it feels strange to have not driven my car yet this week! Poor thing will be feeling neglected... sounds like things are progressing well! I completely misunderstood the 1/5 engaged when my midwife told me and assumed that meant it was nowhere near engaged! This pregnancy thing as been a big learning curve Blush

maria94 · 10/03/2020 14:07

@barnyb by that do you mean you had to get stitchs? If so then yes we are 🤣 had a 3rd degree tear!! X

MissPepper8 · 10/03/2020 14:57

@atomcats I was a cm when she did it, community mw couldn't so sent me to birth center. Mw there (one from two days before) did achieve a total sweep. I'd say it was more painful as she'd done a partial one on the Wednesday, as the first wasn't too bad. It's certainly started things, lost my plug on Friday morning before it and had bloody show for 4 days now. It's not too bad once it's done but she did go for it with me and gave me a good sweep.

They can try if heads not totally engaged, also you can reject them. I think if I go on Thursday I will deny it if I'm not progressing and leave it until 40 weeks.

I harvested about 4? It really didn't do anything to be honest however now I'm having pains ect, my chest is killing me so maybe it might be worth seeing if it helps? I'm afraid to mess incase I stop my body from doing its thing. It won't be long now for you xx

MiniJMac · 10/03/2020 15:19

Wow congratulations @maria94 and @barnyb That's so interesting about the placenta/her weight. Did they say how long it would be to recieve the results back?

I had my reassurance scan this morning,.baby is head down for sure so I'm super relieved!!!! I've been really tired since we were told so reckon it's all the stress that's not been helping with the sleepless nights.

singme · 10/03/2020 15:48

@atomcats it is so nice to be off! Trying to achieve a balance of productive tasks vs just lying on sofa but sofa is winning.

Oh no I’ve confused myself now. I think she wrote 4/5s palpable so 1/5 engaged. It certainly does feels very different and uncomfortable now!

I’ve also been wondering about sweeps. Especially as a few of you haven’t found them so helpful! I had a look at the cochrane review about it (love the extra time to do these things Grin) and it seems it does increase the chance of spontaneous labour vs induction, but then the end result showed no difference between VB/assistance/CS. Midwife hasn’t even mentioned it yet so I guess it is offered at later appointments?
