@MissPepper8 that sounds terrifying! So glad that you are both ok and that they intervened when they did! I hope you both continue to recover well

MissPepper8 · 19/03/2020 16:04

@atomcats and @singme Thank you both x I'm over the moon :). Day 3 hormones yesterday lol but fine today, total love bubble on 2 hour sleep lol.

Jesskir89 · 19/03/2020 21:09

@misspepper8 congratulations! After a traumatic birth you have to take the positives from it don't you. Whenever you think of it just look at your gorgeous boy, that's what I've been doing. Well done x

fibeee · 19/03/2020 23:45

I think I might be in the very early stages of labour tonight. Felt a popping sensation down there in bed (but no show or waters) and now have a period type ache in my lower abdomen and lower back that I can’t sleep through. Have also been running to the loo.

Either that or I’ve eaten something that hasn’t agreed with me!

singme · 20/03/2020 16:12

@fibeee that’s exciting! When are you due?

I’m 38+5 and maybe had a show yesterday but who knows!

fibeee · 20/03/2020 16:31

I was due 2 days ago! Have lost my show since I posted. It’s just been period type pain and the occasional sore twinge and cramp since then.

Just assuming things are going to progress very slowly!

@singme if you have a strong stomach you could google a picture and see if that’s definitely what it was. That’s what I did.

atomcats · 20/03/2020 19:50

Ooo that’s exciting for both of you @singme and @fibeee! I’m 39+4 and still nothing to get excited about. I keep waking up in the morning and feeling disappointed that I didn’t go in to labour during the night!! I’ve had my sweep rearranged for next Thursday when I’ll be 40+3 so I’m hoping things will kick off before then...!

How’s everyone coping with the world slowly crumbling? Very strange times! My hospital have stopped visitors and only one birth partner allowed.

fibeee · 20/03/2020 19:56

I don’t really know how I’m coping tbh. I’m just sort of absorbing everything and I’ll deal with it properly when baby arrives. It’s a lot to get my head around! How is everyone else coping?

My hospital are the same. Birthing partners only and no visitors. No partners at consultant appointments or scans either. Also 2 girls in my antenatal class were told at appointments yesterday to prepare themselves for the possibility of labouring with no partner if this shit storm gets worse Sad

singme · 20/03/2020 20:07

Yes was very anxious yesterday but my yoga glass went online and it really did help.

Just feel it is all very out of our control.

@fibeee I did google it and seemed convincing but today just back to normal, I thought there would be more. I’m sure it won’t be long for you! Or @atomcats.

Jesskir89 · 20/03/2020 22:38

Hold in there ladies. It's tough times. Freddie is a week old today and hasn't been able to meet either of his grandads yet :( it's breaking my heart but it's for the best. Also my mum got sent home at midnight while I was in labour as they changed to 1 visitor per person that night...

atomcats · 21/03/2020 08:47

@Jesskir89 that’s awful that they asked her to leave! I understand policies change but to interrupt your birth is mind blowing!

Out of interest, have you (Or anyone else who has had their baby) been given any advice around newborns and the virus? I find it very strange that while pregnant we are in the ‘vulnerable’ category, but that that ends as soon as the baby is out...!

fibeee · 21/03/2020 08:53

I would also be keen to hear this. My consultant gave me a link to current nhs advice but there really was no information on what to do with a newborn (other than to breastfeed wearing a mask if you have covid-19 Hmm)

Q&A on Royal College of Midwives Twitter. You have to scroll back a few days.

Question above is can I take my newborn outside.

Another question just above that is do we need to self isolate.

Slightly different answers to each question, the first is yes you can take them for walks but limit contact to you and your partner. Don’t have visitors and do video calling.

Second question they say that you don’t have to self isolate if you are all well. But I suppose that means we should socially distance.

Just noticed lots of other Q&A added since Thursday so will have a read through.

atomcats · 21/03/2020 10:59

@singme thank you so much for posting this, it’s really helpful. Would be even better if they published it as official guidance rather than hoping people see it on social media, but I guess that’s the modern world Hmm

singme · 21/03/2020 11:19

Yes seems strange doesn’t it! But if it’s on RCM/RCOG twitter I think it should be fairly evidence based. Lots of Q&As on there about visiting etc too!

fibeee · 21/03/2020 12:08

Have they addressed when you can let family members hold the baby? Or is the advice basically social distance until further notice? I had a look on the thread but couldn’t see this answered.

singme · 21/03/2020 16:23

@fibeee no I don’t think it has been explicitly answered. It does say no visitors I suppose.

I guess once we have our babies we can ask as advice may change by then. I have no idea what we will do but times of baby being passed around are definitely over!

Jesskir89 · 21/03/2020 16:46

@atomcats I know my mum was heart broke. In the end it worked out for the best with me being rushed to theatre but beside the point. I've not been told anything tbh we've taken him for 2 short walks with the dog and limited visitors x

MiniJMac · 21/03/2020 19:10

It's all sounding promising @fibeee.

I'm 39 weeks today. Getting on/off back pain and period style cramps now but no more show, haven't had a full plug (gross) yet. Booked in for a sweep at 40+5.

This covid19 is so concerning surrounding us pregnant ones left and then not enough knowledge around our newborns. Stay strong everyone x

Jesskir89 · 21/03/2020 21:48

@minijmac I never lost my plug so don't worry if you don't. Fx for happy and healthy times ahead ladies x

MiniJMac · 22/03/2020 18:54

@Jesskir89 ah brilliant. Just want this show on the road now.

For anyone interested and on facebook, I've created a Facebook group link below. Just enter your username to join. Thought it could be a good way of keeping in touch if this disappears x

MockingJay27 · 23/03/2020 06:29

Hi ladies
Just to update you all I had my baby girl on Saturday march 21st, at 40+2
She's a gorgeous little 7.9 and 47cm
Just in time for mother day
Labour was tough but worth every second I thoroughly recommend using the pool for those of you who can go in the birth centre.

I have a 2nd degree tear which will take time to heal but worth every second.

Good luck everyone xxx

atomcats · 23/03/2020 07:23

Congratulations @mockingJay27! What a wonderful Mother’s Day Gift! Hope you are all doing well

singme · 23/03/2020 08:51

Congratulations @MockingJay27. What lovely news Smile

fibeee · 23/03/2020 13:47

Congrats @MockingJay27 Grin
