Hi, sorry to hear some of you haven't been feeling too well. I thought I was ok now as the nausea has gone but the last few days I've been getting headaches every afternoon/evening which is getting me down a bit but I'm hoping it's a short term thing.

I like all the name suggestions, I met a 3 months old called Freya the other day & she was very sweet. At the moment we like Chloe or Katie for a girl, DH likes William for a boy and I can't decide but quite like Thomas. It could all change though! We generally have to spell our surname to people so I want a straightforward first name so they don't have two names to spell!

goodcatholicgirl · 14/11/2007 11:09

we were thinking 'cucumber' for a girl (in a chris and gwynnie apple stylie) and something biblical if it's a boy, Pontious or Barabbas.

blobsmummy · 14/11/2007 11:27

Liking it GoodcatholicGirl - though I do think that you should consider Judas or Nebuchadnezzar . Or how about the very popular Ribenaberry?

jacobandlysetteandabump · 14/11/2007 14:53

meant to add we are definitely finding out

i reckon it's a girl as am feeling totally different to pregnancy with ds.

names we are still thinking!

bobsmum · 14/11/2007 15:03

Afternoon

Names are so difficult!! Most people seem to think we'rre having a boy for no obvious reason, but even dd, 2, told the whole of playgroup there was a little brother in my tummy!

If that's the case we like Joseph or Jonathan atm. For girls I'm liking Rachel or Martha. But I know it'll all change - it did with the other 2!

I like the test on another name's thread: Could your child be high up in management, marry into royalty (ie no Princess Britney), and get a reasonable/likeable nickname from their name.

I think we've passed the test so far with our first 2, but it's such a responsibilty!

First m/w appt. next Tuesday - I'll be almost 18 weeks - I'm sure I was seen way earlier with the other 2.

Hope everyone's well and starting to feel movement soon. I definitely am now, but at 17 weeks it's a couple of weeks later than ds and dd, this one must be pretty laid back

PotPourri · 14/11/2007 16:09

Hi all, not been on for a while either. Really busy. Sorry to hear about Columbo.

I have headaches too - a cruel break really just when the morning sickness was clearing! Also starting to get popping out feeling hips, so have asked for appointment wtih physio as had problems alst time, and not this early either. But other than that, feeling great. I am really excited about this baby (DD2 I hardly noticed the pregnancy, I was so caught up in DD1). I think I am realyly enjoying sharing the excitement with DD1 who is nearly 3, and as she already has a little sister, understands what is going on. She's so sweet, making plans for this little baby. She thinks it's a boy, I do too, but I was also really sure hte other 2 were boys - so I will wait and see!!

Nice to see peopel talking about names. I am totaally stumped on girls names. Some nice suggestions. I like Rachel, but DH knows a couple of rachel's he doesn't like, so that is out. Olivia is nice too. Keep the ideas coming. I won't pick finally until I see the baby though and decide what name suits them.

Oh, and also having weird dreams. They are so vivid - I sometimes wake up ina real huff with DH becuase of something he did in a dream - madness!

Take care all

Still not sure about finding out about the sex at the scan so mine might be thinks - chart - birth!

Potpourri - I've been having really vivid dreams too. Might be something to do with my addiction to cheese...can't get enough at the moment.

I'm depressed by how much weight I'm putting on this time. It's all on my thighs and bum .

mumofk · 15/11/2007 03:53

Hi all, glad some people are feelng better but sorry headaches and bugs getting so many of us
I'm stressing about annual leave ATM. Been told I can't tack on a couple of weeks before my Mat leave starts because its Easter and all booked up, and on that logic I'll have the same problem at the other end ( if I start mat leave a few weeks earlier) as its xmas and the way our dept works it you either have xmas or new year off, not both (I'll have a years worth of annual leave to take, so want to tack on a few weeks at the end of my mat leave, then use a few hours a day to work shorter days when I do get back at it). Grrrr. Last time I didn't plan ahead hardly and it wasn't a problem (I really think I was told we'll have to get used to you not being here so a couple of weeks earlier doesn't matter) However pregnancy brain and 2 yrs later means I can't be that sure- I just didn't anticipate any problems, just thought I was letting everyone know well in advance and who kettle of worms opened Grrr. thats why I'm awake at this rediculous time!!!!!
Anyway, on the names front we're not putting that much effort in just yet, but it is nice to see Olivia feature a few times (DD is Kate olivia). We're not finding out the sex, and I keep wondering if it is a boy but only because I feel so different this time round.
Right think I'll try some yoga and then try to get more sleep before work.
Take care all, mumofk.

Hi all

name - thinks - chinese chart - scan says

sweetbean - boy - Girl - ?
jacobandlysette - girl - girl - ?
mitchell81 -girl - girl - ?
pregnabrain - girl - boy - ?

My mum and my fater in law both think im having a girl and so dose DH i think im swaying toward a boy because my pregnacy has been so diffrent !!!

How are we all doing today ??? xx

JackBlackRoady · 15/11/2007 09:22

hi all, I love reading about your name choices - especially Joseph, that's my DS's name. Although he is Joe to all his mates and was Seth or Sefa when he was little. I pretty much call him Scamp or Little Man though. Isn't it wierd how often you don't use their name? Or is that just me?

jacobandTheMummylysette - thank you for the offer about the Mountain Buggy! But we are getting a loan from DH's cousin, for free - result! You should get double that on eBay though, I have been researching....

I went for Acupuncture on Tuesday and have another appmt today - I will try anything to get rid of the bloody sickness. I thought it had worked, but retched all the way around Morrisons (had to stick my nails into a lemon and sniff them) and then threw up in the car park, how classy. I suspect ppl think I am a drunk. Maybe it is too early to see if the scupuncture has worked. The sickness isn't getting me down so much now, I throw up and then get on with it. Always have water and biscuits to hand, but it is the tiredness that goes with it that is more of a problem, I have to lie down or sit still to feel human. No chance of working when I feel this crappy. Luckily work are being understanding.

bobsmum - Can't believe your 1st midwife appmt is so late! Saw my midwife for the second time on Tuesday, and she was saying that because i got pre-eclampsia with DS I am more likely to get it again, also the fact it is a different father makes it more likely, and last time I was in hospital from 8 months. So she said from 20 weeks she will check me a little more often for protein in urine and high blood pressure. Then she looked at the blood pressure reading I had just had done, and the ones from last week at the doctors and the week before at the hospital, and said 'Oh god, it's going up already!' Great - just what I need

Lots of love to you all
JBR xxx

JackBlackRoady · 15/11/2007 09:25

Hi Sweetbean! Like you, I am thinking that this pregnancy is so different to my other one that the sex must be different!!!

name - thinks - chinese chart - scan says

sweetbean - boy - Girl - ?
jacobandlysette - girl - girl - ?
mitchell81 -girl - girl - ?
pregnabrain - girl - boy - ?
jackblackroady - girl - girl - ?

bobsmum · 15/11/2007 19:48

JBR - my ds is Robert (obviously , but is often bobster or sausage. I'm aware that now he's 5 I shouldn't call him sausage within earshot of his school friends! Dh and I often call him "the boy" or "best boy" - guess we'll have to rethink that if no3's a boy too!

We're not finding out btw and I don't really go in for horoscopes, but to keep the mystery going:

sweetbean - boy - Girl - ?
jacobandlysette - girl - girl - ?
mitchell81 -girl - girl - ?
pregnabrain - girl - boy - ?
jackblackroady - girl - girl - ?
bobsmum - boy - boy - ?

PazzaPlusTwo · 15/11/2007 21:18

Hi I just had my 12-week scan this week and all looks fine they were both waving and stretching their legs.

Still having intermittent bleeds sometimes quite heavy but apparently there's nothing wrong and it's 'more common than you'd think' so if anyone else is having that then don't panic like I did thinking I was miscarrying every other week.

Had to go to M&S to buy some sacks yesterday, luckily they do some nice lines in sacks this season. Got DH to take photo of my belly and he was like 'are you pushing it out for effect?', I was like 'er no actually I'm trying to hold it in!' Am 3 inches wider already, they say twins show early but this is ridiculous... loving it actually!

Pazza x

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 15/11/2007 21:26

Sorry - I have been awol from this thread for weeks. Glad you all seem to be getting along OK. The Chinese chart only got 1 of my 3 DCs right so I'm not playing!

I had my booking in appointment last Thursday, same midwife as DD2 and she's delighted to have another homebirth in the offing. My nuchal scan is next Tuesday, when I'll be 13+1.

Morning sickness is getting less but seems worse in the evening. I have now developed sciatica and have been walking around in a stiff-arsed manner for the best part of 2 days. In previous pregnancies it has come and gone so I'm hoping it's not a permanent feature.

I have lost 1/2 stone in the first trimester, partly due to sickness, partly due to better diet. But no doubt I'll soon recover it!

gingerwench · 16/11/2007 08:22

I'm feeling slightly paranoid. Have a rash over stomach, chest and arms (tiny red raised pin pricks) and I have a doctor's appt in an hour....noticed it last night and it seems worse today and all I can think of is German measles but I had the rubella jab when I was 10 so surely it can't be that? Am reassuring myself that I can't be too careful as my scan is due on Monday and if it were something I wouldn't just be affecting myself but all those other pregnant ladies if I didn't get it checked out.
I don't have a temperature or anything though.....

walkingwomb · 16/11/2007 09:33

Hi All,

Hayley - i had a lovely birthday thanks! We have pretty much decided on our names but are going to keep it close to our chest. The whole name things is pretty tricky as DH is terrified I am going to bully him into giving hte baby a 'stupid' name and every so often shouts at me about it (we had a big fight in bed the other night). It is a bit odd, as he also hates 'boring' names. a bit of a minefield! We have loads of boys names we both like, but are finding girls names a bit trickier. However, we have something we agree on at the moment.

goodcatholicgirl - I also have a really close friend who miscarried at 10 weeks. Luckily she is really open about it and likes chatting to me about it. I am really hoping she conceives again soon!

jacobandTheMummylysette - if my DH went around chanting pregnant women are mean i would throttle him! I consider it his duty to put with me being a cow

mumofk - I haven't even started to look into if I can tack on holiday to my maternity leave. I work for a really small company so I am only getting basic maternity leave and feel guilty about the time off. DH was working on the other night how much we were goign to have to live on. We are not strapped for cash by any means, but we have just bought a new house and it was fricking expensive so we will be pushed with the mortgage on one salary.

gingerwench - hope your rash turns out to be nothing.

For all headache people, mine has finally buggered off AND for the last four days I have been feeling GREAT! I am really relieved as I was getting so down about feeling so crap all the time I was beginning to worry that i was getting depressed. I hve my next midwife app on Monday and DH is comgin along because we want to explore the idea of having a homebirth for our first. We have been told that there is a really high transfer rate and to think about it carefully, so we are going.

name - thinks - chinese chart - scan says

jacobandlysette - girl - girl - ?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/11/2007 10:45

gingerwench - how did you get on at the Dr's?

jacobandlysetteandabump · 16/11/2007 14:30

WW i have mentally throttled him at least 20 times over the past few days....

he came home at midnight last night absolutely slaughtered. and he wonders why i am mean
