Thanks for the concern. The two doctors I saw this morning thought I was right to go in but didn't think it was anything serious as I have no temperature. THey took a blood test for a virus I can't remember the name (I'm so forgetful at the moment) They said it probably wasn't that because the rash would look different but wanted to check as it could have some implications but I didn't want to ask. They said often you get a rash on your stomach when pregnant but that is normally much later on. Anyway the rash isn't itchy although uncomfortable and it has continued to spread to my back and hands during the day and get more red. But anyway I take comfort that two doctors can't be wrong surely?!!! and I feel ok.

gingerwench · 16/11/2007 18:47

To DuchessofNOrksBride, yes I've found morning sickness is now more of an evening thing. I wake up nauseous in the middle of the night still and often feel rough about 7pm but otherwise - touch wood- the MS seems to have abated. Thank goodness!

jacobandlysetteandabump · 16/11/2007 18:52

GW and DoNB i was told by a mum of 8 (!!) when i was pg with ds that MS is worse when you are tired, which is why it can keep on hitting you in the evenings as you get further along.

GW glad to hear they reckon it's nothing to worry about.

i've had a bit of a growth spurt in the last few days - from weighing 1kg less than at booking 8 weeks ago, I must surely weigh more now! back into mat jeans after a couple of weeks in normal jeans again

pregnabrain · 16/11/2007 21:24

hello all

Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling so sick. Hopefully not long to go before it passes. Peppermint tea has always really helped me...

Had a really nice 'new baby' day today. Booking appointment with my fabulous midwife this morning. She's going to be with me all the way through the preg, labour and first month of baby, so I'm feeling in really safe hands.

Then we had our scan, which was brilliant. Much clearer than dd's 12-week scan. We could see the baby opening and closing its mouth, and even see all fingers on its hands. It was really exciting. And all is well, which is a big relief.

GW - good to hear that your rash is nothing sinister. It's so hard not to worry when something unexpected happens.

To add to the list of wonderful pregnancy side-effects, I have had a hunk of hair fall out of my fringe area about 2cm in diameter. It happened to me last pregnancy too, but in not such an obvious position. I am now parting on the other side and feeling a bit 'not good' about my expanding waistline and manky hair situation. Why did I want a third again? On the upside, I love spreading my Clarins body toning oil on my tummy after my shower - even though I am skeptical of results it smells really good and I like to show my bump some love.

Hayleyandbaby · 17/11/2007 10:58

JacobandLysette- Thanks for asking about me. i've not been on for a while. Iwas really poorly and the doctors and maternity ward kept brushing it off and saying it's the baby growing. No one would even pass comment on my headache other than 'take stronger painkillers', and one doctor late at night told me to have a cat scan!!! Thankfully the headaches are gone now (phew). But on Wednesday i had a midwife appointment. They listened to baby's heartbeat which was lovely and felt about. Said the baby was very healthy. By the night I was getting awful shooting pains and in the morning I had a little pinky blood. The doctors wouldn't give me an appointment and were really nasty so my DP demanded they let me have an appointment, I went in and got referred straight to the maternity ward.

(sorry this post is getting so long)

They did a scan (14 weeks 4 days) and baby was fine, spinning round, throwing arms and legs about, doing a dance. They even gave us 2 free pictures with little teddy cards on because we'd had such an ordeal of a day.

They've no idea what the pain was and they said just to take paracetamol or cocodamol, and they said the bleeding is probably an erosion. I've also FINALLY got rid of my water infection!!! It's taken nearly 15 weeks!

WW-Aww glad you had a nice birthday. I was still at that weepy stage on mine so by the night time I refused to speak to DP despite the gifts he'd showered me with, and I spent the night crying!!! Don't ask me why. I was only 6 weeks then.

We've picked Libby for a girl and Kaeden for a boy. Really, really happy with them. What does everyone else think?

Hope everyone is feeling well and feeling lots of wriggles. My baby wriggles like mad when I'm cuddling up to DP!!

pregnabrain · 17/11/2007 20:57

Poor you, Hayleyandbaby! Sounds like you've really been going through the mill. Is there any way you could change GP if they're so unsympathetic? That's the last thing you need.

Am jealous of all those who can feel movements already. I didn't until about 22 weeks last time, so I'm not expecting anything for a while.

I'm really stumped on the name front. Dh and I just don't agree on any, especially for boys. I love Alex for a boy but he's really not keen. And he really likes Yasmin for a girl, but I don't really like it. Hmm. This one's going to be tricky I think.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Hi all, apologies, I've not had a read and caught up, I'll have to do that next week as I am up getting ready to go to NEW YORK! My and a pal arranged this as a huge treat befure I got up duff- so slightly different expectations for trip but I'm sooo excited!
Well, when I stop crying about leaving DD for the first time more than over night, and DH for the first time since I went on a course in Scotland when I was expecting DD. Having the usual 'i'm going to fly, going to die' (not really neverous about flying, just my usual panic when packing) and a new addition is fear of miscarrying in airplane toilet- I'm actually smiling at how rediculous I'm sounding, because I am actually looking forward to the trip!
I've started feeling wriggles this last week, which is a bit of a surprise ( 16.5 weeks) as with DD I felt NOTHING until 24 weeks. This time placenta is on the back, so now I guess I believe what the midwives say- anterior placentas can make it later. I know 2nd time around I could expect to feel something earlier, but 2 months earlier is a bit impressive to me!

Right, better have a wash and get dressed, going in a hour.Sorry, really giddy and don't want to wake anyone up with my awful singing along to the radio.....
Tkae care all and Ill cathc up at some point.
hugs, mumofk

Hayleyandbaby · 18/11/2007 10:33

mrsstresshead- I'm so glad you like the names! We've not told many people yet coz we thought everyone would go 'WHAT??!!'

pregnabrain- I'm going to swap to the same doctor's surgery as my DP, but I'm a little bothered that swapping half way through will be weird, and they'll do something crazy like lose my notes or something. I'm going to risk it anyway. One of the midwives at my surgery is fantastic, the other one is terrible, and the receptionists are awful and entered my notes into the computer wrong last week, so that it said my blood group was positive when it's not. A little scary.

mumofk- You'll be gone by now, but hope you have a fantastic time

Hayleyandbaby - what will happen about your midwife care if you swap? Are they the midwives who will be there during your labour? If not, then it seems like there's nothing to lose by you changing GP. Can only be a good thing if you feel let down by them.

mumofk - I'm totally jealous. Never been to New York. It's one place I'd love to visit. dh and I went away for a few days earlier this year for our anniversay, and it was the first time we'd left dd for more than one night. We had a whale of a time - really enjoyed the little things you just don't get to do any more as a parent. Lie ins, lazy breakfasts, papers in bed, wandering around the shops, long dinners. It was wonderful. And dd didn't even notice we'd gone!

Off now. Am trying to follow the plot of 21 Grams and not succeeding. Living up to my mumsnet name again!

mrsstresshead- I think everything should go on hold for us from the day we find out until atleast 6 months after we've had the baby- fully paid, and college work can all be done at home without having to go to the classes and do presentations. Ideal eh?

Pregnabrain- I don't think they're with me at the birth as I'm having shared care so I think it's just the hospital midwives. I'm going to ring up today and check it will be a smooth transfer.

Total TMI so look away now if you're squeemish, but I have really bad piles inside and they've started bleeding, is there anything I can do? Also, my tummy has blown up to look like I'm about to drop, but it's just nasty bloatedness and I don't know what to do about it. I've not slept for two nights because it's so sore!! I'm just drinking lots of water and milk to try to help it go down. has anyone else got this and what makes it go back to normal?

mrsstresshead - absolutely - 3 days weekends would be great (although I only work 3 days a week now as i look after DD rest of time). I didn't get up for work until 8:10am this morning (I start at 9am), so it was a bit of a rush to get DD up and ready (she was also knackered) for DH to drop me off at work - just got NO energy at all. [shattered emoticon]

Got a bit of sciatica at the mo, so I look like the ministry of silly walks. Also getting morning sickness in the evening, but am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

DH and I are going to Paris in March for a couple of nights (DD will LOVE spending time with her grandparents, so I'm not feeling too guilty) for our last little break together before new baby arrives. We did this last time and it was really great just to spend time together (he works when I don't, so we don't spend much time together normally) and take stock before life got completely transformed!

Mitchell81 · 19/11/2007 13:16

We are going away next friday for 4 weeks and I am so looking forward to not having to do the usual housework and also having DH around 24/7 which will be a great break. Only thing temps are about 30'c - 35'C at the hottest, so wondering how I will feel in the warm weather. I am walking around in a tshirt outside and temps are below 5'c in Aberdeen.
Just need to finalise packing and make sure everything is sorted for going away.

jacobandlysetteandabump · 19/11/2007 16:02

just quickly hayley, try some sultanas or something similar - you may be experiencing one of those "minor ailments" which means everything travels through the gut a lot slower than normal making you produce more gas and poo less well than normally. either some fibrogel from your GP (or something similar) or dried fruit might help. it will also help with the piles as they get worse if you have to "try" to go to the loo iyswim?

and you might want to check you're not developing a reaction to milk or something similar if you're suddenly having a lot of it? apparently it's quite common to get new intolerances in pregnancy, as well as lose others - i was severely dairy intolerant before ds (used to swell up, couldn't poo very well etc), and then in pg it seemed to disappear, and hasn't returned. you might have something along the opposite lines?

Hi All

Welcome missvicki

Just checking in really ive been in a terrible mood for the last couple of days (for no good reason) just feel totally p"&ed of with the whole world and everyone in it !!!! and to top it all of my shower has packed up and my car had broken and will cost over £500* and so we now have to by a new car as its not worth repairing the old one. And all of this just before Christmas when were strapped for cash anyway! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!

Anyway i hope everyone is well. I'm really looking forward to my scan on Friday so am trying to keep focused on that !!
