Hello girlies,

Can I come and join you guys? I was originally in the April thread, but after seeing the doc today, he reckons it is going to be 1st May, so I thought I would check in with you guys as well.

Ok so, me and my other half are extremely ecstatic! The Baby has been nicknamed Baby Dot, and Baby Dot is my first sproglet.

I have already told my parents as they are coming out next week to visit me, and my dad was less than impressed, called me a stupid girl and told me to get to the clinic - I am 30 years old by the way - but I still guess I fare better than my brother who was called a f*ing idiot. I guess my dad is just not a baby person...... My mama (who is my step mum) is taking it a little better, and asked lots of questions, she said she knew - how I have no idea, cause we live in different countries!!!!

I live in Bulgaria, so I had tons of fun trying to find someone that spoke English, and I managed to find a nice obstretician, who speaks fairly good English - I do have to help him guess his words. Nice chap he is, he did a quick scan and confirmed it wasnt going to be ectopic (one worry out the way) and that he could see the sac and a stalk? I am guessing he means the stick thing, he couldnt see an embryo, but he has me at just over 5 weeks so he said it would be too small. I liked the doctor, he made me feel reassured that he would take care of me, and even said that he would be there at the birth - I did ask just in case he was making holiday plans, I want someone there who can talk to me and I can understand them!! The only thing he couldnt get over was why I was going to stay in Bulgaria and not go home. Best bit was that his charges were so low. He is a private doctor and for a consultation and the scan, it cost me all of 5 pounds! I have decided you can have a baby on a budget after all!

As for symptoms, I get the odd dizzy spells, tiny twinges in tum, a little nausous and achy boobs.

I am afraid I can be a bit of a waffler at times, so feel free to tell me to shut up if I go on.

Anyway, nice to meet you all, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Shell

Emmsy · 01/09/2007 04:57

Hello Shelly,
nice of you to join us! you waffle on girl, it makes it worth while logging on!
Nice that you found a Doctor that could speak English, although I don't think you will want to be helping him out with his words "in-between" contractions!
I am looking forward to getting a few more symptoms, it will convince me that this pregnancy is going well! (No doubt I will start worrying about something else then, it's what us pregnant women do best!)
Hope you don't mind me asking?, but are you and your other half working & living permantly in Bulgaria? Why is your Dad so unhappy with you, when your a big 30? (It's not as though you will be asking him to baby sit all the time?) Any way you can tell me to mind my own business if you want,I won't be offended! take care for now

jacobandlysette · 01/09/2007 08:39

hey shellysara! welcome.

i got a similar reaction (sell kind of) from my mum when i told her about this one. I hd pretty bad pre eclampsia in the first pregnancy, and she came out with "well i'm sure you're really happy but I shall just worry for the next nine months". I omitted to point out to her that it wil probably only be 7 months like last time and we are already 5 weeks down the line

bit shattered this morning - ds1 is teething and had to do a huge nappy change in the middle of the night (unheard of since he was about 6 months!) and then he didn't want to go back to sleep, but yet still woke up happy as a lark at 6am. And dh is away in israel so no rest for me!

anyway, enough of my rambling for the minute.

ShellySara · 01/09/2007 10:26

Hi again and thanks for the words of welcome.

The worrying is getting me already - never worried about nothing before.

Ok, I live in Bulgaria on my own, not working out here as I had not long finished a contract out in Egypt/Israel where my other half is still working. I had come out to Bulgaria to start getting stuff in place for settling down in retirement (home in the countryside) and we were planning on setting up a business out here. I had just got everything in order that way and had been searching for new contracts overseas, when Baby Dot pops up (other half had come over for a weeks holiday to sort out some paperwork and stuff )

As for dad, there are a few things.... can i just say that as he was a single parent to me and my brother, I think we put him off kids for life!

Anyway, heres me waffling away yet again - going to leave you girlies to it, I have to get my flat cleaned up for the impending visit of the parents!!!

Have a nice day all!

IndigoBlue · 01/09/2007 16:31

Hi everyone

Can I join you all, think I should be due around 10th or 11th May. Period not due til tomorrow but couldn't resist testing early and has came up positive. This is my second - I have a dd who's just turned one. Doesn't feel real at the moment!

jacobandlysette · 01/09/2007 17:33

hi Indigo - congratulations! I'll update the stats list when my ds isn't tugging at my leg for dinner

professorplum · 02/09/2007 09:29

I've done another 3 tests since faint positive and all were negative . AF is 2 days late though . I've been using OPK which said I ovulated on day 17/18 so maybe

a) BFP won't show until day 31 (tuesday)

b) 1st test was false +ve or chemical pregnancy and AF is late because ovulation was late

Emmsy · 02/09/2007 09:39

Sorry to hear you have had 3 neg tests professor!
I hope you get another + soon! What brand of tests have you used so far??

professorplum · 02/09/2007 11:34

First test was an ebay one- very faint line
Second ebay test-negative
Third test Clearblue digital-negative but I thik they're not v sensitive
Forth test- First response

I know the ebay ones work because my SIL used one and it wa very positive

I'm going to wait until tues before I do any more if still no AF

Emmsy · 02/09/2007 12:17

I will keep my fingers crossed for you PP,let us know the outcome, what ever it may be!
I want Tuesday to come and go without any problems, as it is the same cycle day that I miscarried in my previous pregnancy "30th April" I am worried that I will miscarry around the same day! (I know it's all in my mind, but just can't help worrying) Let's hope that Tuesday is a good day for all!

aquababe · 02/09/2007 12:37

Tuesdays also my scan day
fingers crossed for everyone

jacobandlysette · 02/09/2007 17:07

Hello Ladies,
Please can I join your club??!!

Got a BFP last week, I think I am due 5th May. I am very very happy but trying to stay grounded as seems too good to be true. Took over a year to conceive dd1 (which I know isn't that long compared to what other poor people go through)and this was a 'second time lucky'. Also had MC when TTC dd1. One of my best mates has just had a MC at 8 weeks, no symptoms at all, found out at scan. Sorry to be depressing, but I am just v worried that I will be OK this time around.

DD1 is 15 mths so born May 06. It's seriously just THE BEST time of year to have a baby....

  1. Not pregnant in hot weather
  2. getting up to feed in middle of night much better in May/June than winter
  3. Whole summer off on Mat leave!
  4. nice time of year for DC to have birthday..outdoor parties!
  5. if breast feeding, easier in summer to wear less clothes easier to feed, than hoiking up a massive wooly jumper

I'm sure there was more than that!!

Not many symptoms so far, fuller but not sore boobs. Mild nausea rarely. 5 weeks tomoz I think. Just hope I can get through next 7 weeks!!! I have booked Dr appt for 11th Sept, I will be 6 weeks.

CONGRATULATIONS to you all on your BFP's, esp if it's your firsts. It is AMAZING!!!

aquababe · 02/09/2007 20:16

I'm quite anxious too. my bf had a mc this year and it's meant telling her has become a little awkward.
I really want for her to be pregnant again before I have to break the news to her.
last time I told her before my scan but don't know if I should wait a bit now

thanks for that list of positives.

gonna be a busy month for birthdays for you

IndigoBlue · 03/09/2007 07:55

well i know this isn't pregnancy related but I had a bit of a shock this morning. I woke up at 4am to DH having some sort of seizure in bed like an epileptic one. He's never had anything like that happen before, I had to call an ambulance & he went to A&E. They discharged him after a few hours & couldn't find an obvious cause. It was so scary I couldn't wake him up when he was having it and then when he came round a bit he was acting really strange like someone who'd had a stroke or something. He seems fine now and has gone back to bed. i'm worried it might happen again but hope the shock of it all hasn't affected the baby in any way.

Emmsy · 03/09/2007 07:58

Hello goodcatholicgirl, of course you can join our thread, the more the merrier!
It looks like were both due on the same day,I have not been to clinic or Docs yet, thought I would wait a little longer this time! My boobs are a little sore but no sign's of "proper" morning sickness yet, I can't wait for it 2 kick in, (If its going to this time)When you get morning sickness,It,s a good sign that evertything is going ok. BUT FIRST TIMERS DONT WORRY IF YOU DONT GET IT, you can have a lovely healthy baby without experiencing Morn Sick!
Aquababe,Good luck for scan tommorrow! and try not to let your bf mc get u down, your friend will be pleased for u, remember she will be grieving the loss of her baby not jealous of yours, dont shut her out, remember she will be sharing her pregnancy details with u when she gets pregnant again! Anyway u know her best so it's up 2 u how you handle the situation! Good luck

Emmsy · 03/09/2007 08:09

Sorry Indigo-b, I did not see your message b4 , you poor thing witnessing DH having some type of fit. Don't worry about the baby, our bodies can handle many types of different stresses. I had a car accident when I was approx 6 weeks with youngest son, a car smashed into the back of me. I stressed out so much that I ended up with a bad chest infection that I couldn't get rid of. Baby was fine though!!
As for DH I'm sure the Docs would have performed all the necessary tests B4 discharging him! I would keep an eye on his behaviour and get him to the hosp again if anything happens, don't let them discharge him until you have been given some answer's.
Take care for now,and keep strong.

walkingwomb · 03/09/2007 08:42

Morning all!!

IndigoBlue- How worrying about your husband!! I had a healthscare with mine last year and know how awful it is. Hope he is okay.

goodcatholicgirl - Your message made me smile. I am very excited to be having a May baby (all babes in my family are Jan/Feb babies for some reason - makes it a v expensive time of year). To see all you positives as well is great!

I have calmed down a bit from the ohmygodohmygod reaction of last week. I have my first doctors appointment on the 10th, so looking forward to that. I have a bit of a twingy tummy but otherwise no real symptoms. I am a bit worried about the tiredness and morning sickness that are to come as my job is really full on. However, I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
