katybird · 31/08/2007 12:23

I'm still here! Definitely will be a September baby, mum's a teacher so she'll be happy at least, didn't want him to be youngest in the year . Had a lot more show overnight so at least something's happening.

Congratulations angie and boobooma !! Boo, what a beautiful name, sounds like a lovely birth then a bit of a mare afterwards. Hopefully I'll see you on the postnatal thread soon...

growingbagpuss · 31/08/2007 13:14

Coelas - sorry, missed you earlier -congratulations, and you to Angie!!

Katybird - its a good point about the birthday thing.... I am a september baby, but got moved up a year, so ended up being the youngest in the year anyway!!!!!

MarsLady · 31/08/2007 13:17

Congrats Ceolas! Glad it finally happened

lizziemun · 31/08/2007 18:26

katybird

I will be joining you in september am now 40 + 1. Still having the odd pains. Been to the midwife today, and the LO had moved, so i had to go the Day assement unit to make sure it hadn't gone breech again. In the 2 hours it took to arrange a babysitter and get my sister to take me to the hosiptal the little wotsit had gone to being head down.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 31/08/2007 22:25

Do hope it wont be long for you now ladies! i have managed to upload photos now!

Hello ladies - will join you all over on th post natal thread very soon but just wanted to give you a few of the details.

You all probably know that my CS for breech presenttion was cancelled on the 23rd when I was on the op table as a last minte scan reveald she had turned head down so was sent home to wit for nature. Didn't have to wait long for the first signs although the baby took a lot longer to arrive. Started to have lots of show on Saturday 25th and by 8pm that evening was contracting every 10 mins. 24 hrs later a trip to hospital revealed I was only 1-2cms dilated. Next day the contractions stepped up to every 6 mins lasting 60 secs and was needing my tens machine on 24 hrs a day but another trip to hospital confirmed I was still only 2cms so back home again. Contractions didn't really change much until the Thursday night at 8.30 when my waters went and they immediately started coming every 2-3 mins. My hope of a quick 'established labour' were dashed when upon arrival at hospital they said I was still 2cms - after 5 frigging days!
18 hrs later and hugging the gas and air demanding to know why 3 hours after the epidural was sited I was not pain free as promised they did it again and it worked as the syntocin they had given me hours earlier had strengthened my contractions but I was still only 3cm.

Doctors conferred and said I could probably go on for a month on Sundays and still not get to 10cm and they were worried about a couple of decelarations in baby's heartbeat they reccommended an emergency section.

You could of done it 8 days ago I had to stop myself muttering as we tearfully consented. We were on the table within 15 mins with them just having to top up my epidural. Op was actually great and out Caitlin popped screaming her head off at 3.11 with a great apgar scores of 9, 10 and 10.

DH head her whilst I was stiched up and we then had skin to skin and I BF in recovery.

Caitlin is more gorgeous that I could have possibly imagined with a huge amount of long dark brown hair - DH and I are definitely smitten.

BF going not quite to plan. Caitlin is a hungry girl and in these days before my milk comes in it doesn't seem to satisfy her hunger so has needed a couple of top ups of formula milk to fill her up, send her off to sleep and sop her screaming the maternity ward down!. She seems to love it though and we are reaping the benefits with over 4.5 hrs between feeds at the moment.

They let me out this afternoon after 48 hours and we are home and content and Caitlin is sleeping peacefully in her moses basket. Grandparents and been round this evening to inspect her and pronounced her perfect. Will try and post some pics tomorrow.

Is anyone still waiting - sorry I have trawlled through messages for a few days.

bananabump · 02/09/2007 21:51

Aaw, brilliant Hersetta! Really pleased for you, hope you're not feeling too sore! I went through days of slow or pre labour before it all finally happened too. Really frustrating, but one way or another you have your lovely healthy little girl, that's the main thing!

What did she weigh in the end?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/09/2007 23:14

lizziemun · 04/09/2007 08:26

I am now 40 + 5 does he think that i am keeping it all to myself .

Congrat's to those lucky one who have had their babies in the last week, i not of course .

conkertree · 04/09/2007 10:19

poor you lizziemum - especially since this thread is so quiet so its getting harder to share your frustrations. hope things happen soon for you - have you got a date to be induced?

lizziemun · 04/09/2007 10:26

I have i appointment with the consultant on thursday if nothing has happened by then. To discuss induction. I want it done sooner rather then later as if they leave me another week DD has her first day at nursery then.

Ceolas · 04/09/2007 11:21

Sympathies Lizzie, I had DD3 at 40+6 last Thursday and was getting very fed up. Hope things happen soon!

Ceolas · 04/09/2007 11:22

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT .....finally....well i finally succumbed to being induced...boo hoo..so no home birth for me and actually it was lucky as he got stuck and wouldnt have been safe at home...so .my waters broke naturally tues night and i held out soon till thurs night before i went into hospitable as i had an infection from the waters breaking..so had to have iv antibiotics, they gave me a pessary at 12.00 midnight and nothing really happened, i was on momitor for 1 hour , next morning after a sleepless night they said was contracting although i wasnt feeling it, i was then put onto syntocin drip at 8.00 fri morning as i was only 2 cm dilated even after gel..but at least cervix was ripened by that point as they were wondering why i wasnt even showing signs of going into labour apart from waters breaking, anyway lovely dr predicted it would be a fast labour as it was my third and that id have baby by lunch time..gulp! well he was right..baby boy was born at 12.50 after a quick labour weighing in at a massive 10.12 lbs! just with gas and air..midwives were very impressed..however his head got stuck halfway out and he was like that for some time and they were all getting worried..i justdidnt have the energy left after such a quick abour and lots of pushing but eventualy i did it but THEN his shoulders got stuck .shoulders dystocin and all of a sudden the emergency button was pressed and the room was filled with people doing god knows what to my body in very contortions in order to make as much room for his shoulders! they literally were pushing him out from my abdomen from the outside..it hurt !thenn they were pulling legs up or as far apart as possible while getting me to push..eventuaaly it worked..but boy it hurt and never again.. but at the end baby was fine ..but huge ...and i feel as though ive been run over by a steamroller...were home and life begins with a family of 5 now..not much sleep..he feeds constantly and because of his sze i had to give top ups which he has guzzled down everything..all 4 oz and off me as well every two hours if im lucky and he only wants to be on me all the time ..v.tiring as i dont get much sleep but i wouldnt change him for the world..hes gorgeous and everyones dotty over him..inc the kids who i have to fight off so in the end ,everything couldnt be further from what id wanted so it proves youve got to have an open mind in all this birthing lark..but the outcome is the same! i`ll try and get some piccies posted if i can work it out oh by the way we got to 22 days over..not bad going really!!!!

bananabump · 04/09/2007 12:29

Yay! congrats bambi on your big big boy! Fashionably late, eh? Sounds like you went through a bit of an ordeal, take it as easy as you can for as long as you can get away with it!!

Ceolas · 04/09/2007 13:47

Congratulations, Bambi. My DS was 10lbs on his EDD, so may have been close to that if I'd gone much over.

I sympathise with the feeding - he fed constantly for the first few weeks [bleary-eyed emoticon]

typhoonsmum · 04/09/2007 14:45

just thought i'd call in to say hi to all the people left on this thread. i was the last on the july thread. 13 days late. just hang on in there. you'll have your baby soon. oh and get as much sleep as you can now.

Pengy · 04/09/2007 21:55

Birth Announcement:
Ruby Clara born 26/8, 6lb. Only home last weekend after a trip to SCBU for IV fluids for dehydration. A stressful first week but all settling down now.

Had syntocinon induction after waters broke and contractions stopped. Fast and furious 1st stage only 2-3h long. No time for epidural so survived with gas and air.

She's a wee cutie but now seems constantly hungry... Tomorrow will be first full day home alone with her as DH going to work Hoping I find time to eat!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 04/09/2007 23:27

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new mums!!!!!
