Good luck bambi, angie and pink. I'm resigning myself to the long haul into september, at least lo will be the oldest in the class when starting school, got to be some positives there.

Ceolas · 24/08/2007 19:43

"You're still here then?". How many times have I heard this today???

Where did you think I was going?

Amester · 24/08/2007 20:01

Sorry to hear there are lots of us still waiting. Good on you Bambi for sticking to your guns - I hope I'm as strong if I go overdue as I really don't want to be induced. How annoying that you didn't get your cs Hersetta when you were all prepared for it, hopefully your little one won't keep you waiting too long.

The castor oil doesn't sound much fun pink - but maybe it will set things off tonight?

Ceolas - I had that all day - the checkout lady in Sainsburys even asked me if I'd had a show yet - bit personal I thought!

On that subject I'm not sure if I have had a show - the last few days I've been having (sorry TMI) jelly like discharge but its clear/yellow coloured - is this a show or does it have to be pink?

bambi06 · 25/08/2007 09:21

tee hee..still here and its my birthday nd no signs yippee!!!its not going to be born on my birthday have to go back to hospital AGAIN for monitoring later on.. is there a cut off point /date for children starting school in sept then or is that past now? good luck everybody else..hope it works out to how YOU want it..not the drs!!

rhiannon134 · 25/08/2007 09:36

yeah i think it's the 1st of september, used to be the 3rd or 4th i think. Happy birthday BTW! does anyone know why it's so important to put babies to sleep on their back? mine much prefers sleeping on his front, he'll sleep for hours on his front during the day but I'm too scared to let him sleep on his front at night.

Hersetta · 25/08/2007 10:19

Morning all ladies,

Hersetta reporting in for waiting duty.

Had a show for the first time this morning so that was exciting - DH got very excited and asked if he should not go to football this afternoon - needless to say I let him down gently that it still could be days away and he should definitely go.

I can tell this baby is going to be awkward. She turns head down as I am basically on the table to hav a CS and my mum who is over from Spain changed her return flight yesterday from Sept 7th to this Monday as she's decided to go home and just come back when she arrives - and I know have a show. I just know I'm going to go into labour on Monday morning just as her flight leaves Stansted!

Going out to buy more raspberry leaf tablets this morning and will pump up my birthing ball - hadn't bothered thus far because of the CS.

Pengy · 25/08/2007 10:53

Hi everyone

I'm still here. Water continues to leak but any mild contractions well and truly fizzled out! Midwife due in a couple of hours and likely I'll then need to go into hospital for induction Had hoped to go down normal route but looks like LO is being stubborn! Anyway whatever happens I guess we'll meet her today or tomorrow.

Happy birthday bambi! Hersetta you must have been so p**ed off after being all psyched up to meet your LO, at least the show is promising that you're not being kept to wait too long.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 25/08/2007 10:57

hi ladies,
Congrats on the show hersetta, i had a small jelly show again this morning and have a lower belly ache all morning, had a bath and its eased off a bit but still there , Glad to say that i am now totally recovered from the castor oil incident (thank god) and feel ready for a baby again now!

Ds has gone to grandparents for the weekend to see Tweenies at the Theatre and beach tomorrow, and me and dh are going to the pictures tonight to see harry Potter, so at least a nice peaceful weekend before baby does decide to make his well awaited appearance!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 25/08/2007 10:58

Crossed Post pengy - Good Luck let us know how you get on!

paperdoll · 25/08/2007 11:37

hey everyone,

I haven't been on here for about ten days so still need to catch up, but congratulations to all!

My wee one was born on 15th August after a day or two of everything from totally natural labouring, to a full-on C-section finish. We laboured away for a day or so and got to 8cm on our own at home - I don't actually remember all of it, but it was pretty bloody hard work and DP describes it as "epic". But when we went into hospital and I got into a birthing pool, everything slowed right down. We did lots of walking around and bouncing on the ball to speed things up again (I was so tired by this time I was practically passing out, DP had to catch me when I slid of the birthing ball). Eventually had to move onto an epidural and hormone drip, and we got to 9.5cm that way, but the little one's head was quite swollen and finally, when the last half centimetre wouldn't budge, we moved on to a caesarean.

Not remotely what I expected or what I would have hoped for - but actually, it was a really interesting experience once the pain was gone! DP was with me and all the midwives, surgeons etc were brilliant. The maternity ward midwives who looked after us over the next few days were great too; I really can't bring myself to regret anything that happened. If anyone else here is headed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary then I hope you'll be just as well looked after as we were.

DS is called Adam and is feeding like a champion, sleeping reasonably well and just generally being gorgeous and lovable. I am totally besotted.

So ... I'll catch up here and then move on to the appropriate thread. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!

stretchmarks · 25/08/2007 11:54

Hi all,

Just wanted to say still thinking of all those of you waiting to have your little ones. Alex has been keeping me very busy for the last week and a bit. I must say this time has flown by much quicker than those days when I was waiting for his arrival.

Hope you are all doing well and look forward to seeing you all on the post natal thread soon.

JSer · 25/08/2007 16:31

Hiya

Just to let you know my pains on Mon night turned into the real thing. Had a little girl on Weds at lunchtime. Had to be on constant monitoring as her heart rate was very erratic - or so they thought but weren't sure ithe monitors were picking it up ok. Was annoyed at first but turned out her cord was round her neck (twice!) so was glad of the monitoring in the end. Labour went fairly quickly and she was helped out by ventouse as she was distressed and loads of meconium during the last part of labour.

SO wasn't exactly the labour i'd planned but as soon as LO was put on my chest all the bad bits were forgotten and i'm besotted!

Good Luck to those of you still waiting. I'm sure there will be lots of bank holiday babies coming!

Hersetta · 25/08/2007 18:13

Pengy,

Pissed off doesn't even come close. Just pure disappointment really - we were so ready to finally meet her and now we have to wait some more. Good luck for the next 48hrs and here's to having babies in our arms soon.
Pink, Glad the castor oil incident is now in the past - just chalk that one up to experience and hopefuuly your show is a good sign that things are finally happening.

Had another show - not really bloody though, just pale pink and more like EWCM then jelly - sorry if TMI. Am also getting lower tummy tightenings so hopefully she's decided that now she's in the right position after being breech for so long that she's just going to get on with a rapid exit.

Congratulations JSER - what did you call her in the end?

bambi06 · 25/08/2007 18:22

congrats everyone so far..ive walked all round /up and down greenwich park today n the hopes of getting thing moving..lets hope tonight ..so i dont have to go back in for monitoring tomorrow again...fingers crossed for me please!!!! day 17 tomorrow....dh asked today exactly how long are you hoping to wait for....

katybird · 25/08/2007 22:26

Congratulations JSer and paperdoll !!

Still nothing happening here, but had a jelly show earlier so at least thigns are moving gradually. Went to see Knocked Up this afternoon, so maybe he's taken the hint!

Got everything crossed for you bambi, pink, Hersetta and everyone else who's still waiting.

bambi06 · 26/08/2007 09:57

im off to have monitoring again this morning and i might ask for a second sweep whilst there...although first had no effect whatsoever!!! i have to go up to labour ward each time as its weekend which is a right pain as they are so busy with everyone else..i feel as though i really shoulnt be there..im a fraud!!! hopefully i ll have a nice dr /midwife who wont give me a grilling again as to why i havent been induced..two more days and it ll be the same amount of days as my first son..19 days over although i was in labour with him for days it seemed..hope this one will be quick like my dd..apparently im still getting loads of braxton hicks but not feeling them!!! last night i woke at 3am and after visit to loo and having something to eat[im ravenous all the time] i couldnt go back to sleep and sat up watching a dating show on television!!until went back to bed at 5.00 only to be woken a t 7.00 by kiddies jumping in to bed for a cuddle and then i couldnt go back to sleep again...grrrr!!! this seems to happening quite frequently now..i just cant sleep at night ..im not sure whether im just getting stressed about being overdue or its signs as my energy levels keep soaring and i cant relax even after walking around all day in the hope of starting things off..

Hersetta · 26/08/2007 11:49

Hi all,

I've been having contractions since last night. Still around 5-6 mins apart and now lasting about 40 secs (was only about 20 secs during the night). Can just about breathe through them at the moment. Might give the hospital a call soon and see what they say.

bambi06 · 26/08/2007 14:38

good luck hersetta...boo hoo everyones leaving this thread now..i ll be the only one soon

Ceolas · 26/08/2007 16:42

I'm still keeping you company Bambi

We've been painting the garden fence this afternoon. Hope all the squatting down has helped.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 26/08/2007 17:08

Hi ladies, im also still here!! Been having contractions on and off about 15 mins apart since last night but nothing " regular" you would say, also had 3rd sweep today so now just WAITING again!

bambi06 · 26/08/2007 18:05

tmi i know wbu can you have sex after a sweep as surely once its released the mucus plug from the sweep its open to infection..since last tues when i had first sweep i`ve been having the plug coming away...

Ceolas · 26/08/2007 18:07

not sure bambi. Think it's just if your waters have gone since the baby's 'sealed' in there...

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 26/08/2007 18:47

I think you CAN have sex, as Ceolas said your baby still in the sac so no infection!

boobooma · 27/08/2007 01:34

Hi ladies, still here too. Had what I finally think were some contractions this evening about 5 minutes apart but only 20 or 25 seconds long and pretty mild, went to bed and theyre still going, would try more sleep but, but now lo is doing an audition for the moscow state circus, so will be doing a bit of bouncing myself as I watch crap tv.

Pink and bambi sounds like you are on your way. Im guessing Hersetta is certainly with her lo by now or tomorrow.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 27/08/2007 02:52

Hi boo - you still there?
Well i have managed to get about 1 hours sleep since midnight , contractions have still been 15 mins all evening but have now picked up are starting to come between 4- 6 ( as contraction master says) may just be the real thing now am going to sit it out for another 10 mins then get dh up and ring MW and get my TENS on i think!
