Yep, I'm still left from Aug births . Was due on 28th. Booked in for induction on Thurs night. However on Mon night, got v. excited when contractions started and seemed to be progressing well. By Tues am was 5 mins apart so headed to hospital on their advice only for them to stop when I got there! Sent me home and ever since have been having sporadic contractions up to 30 mins gap - so all of the pain and non of the benefit! V. frustrating - oh well hopefully not too much longer now......

Aaw porridgebrain, I had a long buildup to labour, started monday 4am, had him thursday 10.51am. Got very frustrated and upset, and started several "is it, isn't it?" threads on here! It's horrible being in limbo, I really hope things get started for you soon. If it's any consolation, when I finally did go into proper labour it was pretty fast, 11 hours start to finish. And then all the weeks and months of waiting are forgotten!

If this thread is quiet now come over to the postnatal one (although it's a bit quiet there too because we're all shellshocked with tiredness and trying to get housework done while the little tyrants nap!)

Here's hoping you have a quick and easy birth, and SOON! Do you know what you're having?

lizziemun · 05/09/2007 13:38

PorridgeBrain

I'm with you. I was due on the 30th August. I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow to talk about induction. Like you i have been having odd contractions for last 3 weeks.

PorridgeBrain · 05/09/2007 14:37

Thanks bananabump and lizziemun - its nice to know that its not just me experiencing this. The problem is that you don't know what's going on in there and whether its normal. Lizziemun, hope you get some luck soon too.

lizziemun · 06/09/2007 13:17

I been to see the consultant today and she done a sweep as i am now 41 weeks. If nothing happens tonight i am booked in for an induction tomorrow.

bananabump · 06/09/2007 15:19

Try to relax tonight, perhaps a lavender bath and a glass of wine. I was in prelabour for ages, things finally kicked off after I had a huge self indulgent sobbing session which released loads of pent up tension. It's amazing how much your emotions affect your physical processes. (sorry to be rude but I can only equate it with sex... you couldn't have an orgasm if you were stressed and upset for example!)

I'm sure that if you do end up being induced it will be fairly fast since you're so overdue. And at least that way you know for sure you'll have your lo in the next couple of days! oooh I'm so excited for you!! best of luck xxx

katybird · 07/09/2007 14:33

Hi eveyone, hope it all happens vey soon for those of you left, and thanks for keeping me company while I was overdue.

Had my LO, Logan William, on Sunday 2nd! 10 days over - the midwife I saw for third sweep on Sat thought he was in the wrong position to descend even though I was 3cm dilated, but sweep must have had an effect because when he decided to come it was fast! Contractions were every 15 mins after the sweep at 2pm on Sat, built during the afternoon and by 10pm were every 5 mins, lasting a minute. The birth centre told me to hold off a bit longer so we got the TENS machine out - thank god we had one! - but they got stronger so went in at 1.30am on Sunday, and I was already 7cm. I got into the pool with gas and air, which didn't do much to be honest but was a distraction. I got out of the pool to use the loo after about 2 1/2 hours and almost immediately wanted to push. Got back into the pool and 20 mins later at 4.24am he was born! Apparently I breathed him out really easily but it didn't bloody feel like it! I was definitely pushing.

He was 7lb 1oz, and he's gorgeous with lovely blonde hair. Exhausted at the mo but v happy!

Just a quick message before In-Laws arrive.

Had water broken at 2pm yesterday, was put on the drip at 4pm and went from 1cm to 10cm in four hours had Alexandra Grace at 8.05pm last night. She was 9lb 2oz so just 2oz smaller then lizzie.

Only had gas and Air and just 3 small grazes.
