I think it's different for everyone. I always get pains in my back but others feel it in their bump. Sometimes at the bottom, sometimes at the tops of the legs even.

But you'll know yourself, when it's the real thing, you will just know

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/08/2007 09:27

thats what i guessed last night! I Had them right across my knickers line ( well it would be if i had seen my knickers line in the last 3 months! ) Maybe things are SLOWLY moving!
Oh well ,midwife should be coming out tomorrow to do another sweep!

JSer · 21/08/2007 09:33

Must have been something in the air last night as I also had some pains! Although i'm not building my hopes up too much as I had what i thought were contractions one night last week too and nothing since. It's so infuriating - every little twinge and i think to myself - oooh was that a contraction??

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/08/2007 09:35

know what you mean Jser, i end up laying there for hours thinking " will it be tonight"

divamumplusbump · 21/08/2007 09:48

hi all,
im still around, 3 days over now
congratulations to tokentotty, glad everyone else having their babies. are there many gone overdue?
i didnt sleep last night, as i had a few pretty sharp pains, and i was sure it was going to start, but nothing.
anyone had induction? i have no idea how to get induction.
xx

lizziemun · 21/08/2007 09:51

Snap pink & Jser,

I had pains about every half and hour (bump going hard, and a downward pushing feeling)all afternoon, had a bath about 9pm and went to bed. had a couple during the night that woke me up.

Then this morning all quite.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/08/2007 09:56

divamumplusbump · 21/08/2007 10:03

I'm with you Amester, just fingers crossed it will be sooner rather than later...

Met a friend for lunch today but getting more difficult to get out as walking really uncomfortable, lots of hip spasms which make me limp, fun fun

bambi06 · 21/08/2007 15:29

had a sweep today but doesnt look hopeful as cervix wasnt effaced[opening] and no other good indicators according to MW..no signs either yet of anything happening.. so ive got drs to see and a scan coming up soon to be monitored.. no induction fo rme thankyou..

Pixey · 21/08/2007 15:36

Do they give you a sweep before an induction or is the induction the sweep???

loler · 21/08/2007 15:45

Due date and induction a week today - having a bit of a panic!!

DH in Dublin for the day (back at midnight) and DCs at nursery - so took the chance and popped to buy so paint for the kitchen - friend came by for lunch so I intend to start painting tomorrow - do you think this might be nesting?!

Sounds like quite a few of you might be popping in the next couple of days - good luck - I'll be off to the September thread then!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/08/2007 15:50

pixey - they normally give you a sweep before " medical induction" as they can release the hormone to start contractions!
bambi - sorry that your didn't seem to good, you never know though.

I have been having back ache all day today and pains on and off, not contractions but dont know how else to describe it , dont worry i will have a bath, go to bed tonight and they will all stop again`!!

katybird · 21/08/2007 16:00

Hi everyone who's left! I've been lurking for a few days, nothing to report here. I've had a couple of tiny twinges and Braxton Hicks, but nothing like a contraction yet. Not due till Thursday so I shouldn't expect anything yet I guess! Know what you mean though, it's good to see my name on the due this week list!

There are only two of us out of seven in my NCT group who haven't had babies this week, getting v .

I'll be with you on the September thread loler ! Thanks for the invite dal21.

conkertree · 21/08/2007 16:20

hi everyone - sounds like more frustration all round - but they will come - they have to - i know how frustrating it is, but really - if i can give anybody any advice, do try and enjoy the last few days of relaxing before the baby arrives - i know a lot of people dont sleep well towards the end of pregnancy but its still better sleep than being woken with a babies cry every few hours.

and the antenatal thread is fairly quiet too - think everyone is off feeding and sleeping all the time so not much time to post. maybe in september once everyone has popped and things have calmed down, it will get busier again.

conkertree · 21/08/2007 16:21

meant postnatal - sorry that always confuses me for some strange reason.

katybird · 21/08/2007 16:46

Me too conker, antenatal sounds like afterwards doesn't it?

Thanks for the wise words, you're right it has to happen eventually!

saturn · 21/08/2007 16:54

oops...posted to old thread - only been away for a few days and a whole new thread...

"hi, haven't caught up yet but just to let you know had my beatiful baby girl by c-section on Friday - 8lb 1/2oz. unfortunately low lying placenta didn't move so had to have c-section, everything went ok and came home yesterday. quite painful, but just glad to be home.

Anyway, congratulations to all those who have had their babies whilst I've been away and not long now for those who haven't yet. will try to catch up on all the news now whilst DD sleeping."

will go join postnatal thread now conker, thanks!

Amester · 21/08/2007 16:55

Congratulations Saturn!

katybird · 21/08/2007 17:05

Congratulations saturn !!

kiteflying · 21/08/2007 17:09

Hi everyone that is still here, and congrats to everyone that has moved on to the post natal thread! A week away from work and I have missed so much! And have five mintues left on this computer to say very little before I have to go off.

I LOVE everyone's names for their babies. Cannot wait to have time to check out the photos but thanks everyone for your inspiring birth stories.

Well I am nesting furiously and practising yoga and hypnobirthing and arguing with DP about the fact he seems to have no intention of doing any practice with me at all. Saw an osteopath this morning about my worsening SPD but am otherwise fine. Needless to say I sleep in a veritable nest opf pillows.

Katybird, any more twinges? My osteopath agreed that baby seems to still be too high for me to be in any danger of him or her arriving early. Am going to an extra yoga class tomorrow morning - think I must be getting nervous (could it be anything to do with my bierth coach failing to coach himself?)

Ciao till I can get to a computer again.

katybird · 21/08/2007 18:30

Hi kiteflying, glad you're still managing to check in on everyone. An extra yoga class sounds like a good idea, I'm so achy today! Enjoy it. And don't be nervous, DP will probably leap into action as soon as something happens for real, and if he doesn't then all your practice will kick in anyway and you'll be too spaced out to care .

I've had a couple of twinges but definitely nothing like real contractions, judging by the number of people on here who've had contractions on and off for days I'm weeks off labour still!
