good morning to the weary few.

Hersetta, fingers crossed for you, how knackering. Bambi sorry youre having such a rubbish time. Ceolas, how disappointing you got no sweep, good luck for tomorrow.

I have mw appt tomorrow too, going to ask for sweep, but now thinking I have no idea if head is engaged, will be gutting if not. After 3 days of weird contraction like stuff going on and off, today I've been awake since 3am when I woke up with definite painful ones lasting about half a minute, in and out of sleep think I had about 3, every 20 mins, got up at 4am to start timing them properly, then ds woke up with teeth and has been creating ever since and the buggers went off. Grrrrrr. Am now wondering whether I dreamed them. Only a day over, but all these false starts get your hopes up.

lizziemun · 29/08/2007 11:49

Well due date tomorrow, and am now fed up. have been having odd hours of contractions for the last 2 weeks but nothing regular or on going.

Ilovebabies · 29/08/2007 13:38

Well finally had my little Madam!

Had to go in on Sat to get my waters broken to induce the labour as she wasn't looking like she was wanting to come out by herself. An hour and a half later and she was born all 10lb 1 oz of her!
Was the quickest labour of all 3 and def the worst there was just no break between contractions and they just came hard and fast from the first one there was no build up like with the other 2.
She is gorgeous and we are all chuffed to bits. I ended up with a third degree tear so had to go into theatre afterwards to get repaired. Bit annoying that i was able to give birth with just gas and air but then had to get a spinal to go into theatre!

So glad its all over with now was very fed up by the end and feel for all who are left and over their dates cos I know how the time drags!

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!

Kiteflying had her little girl on Sunday afternoon, 7lb 11oz. She says it wasn't the gentle birth she'd hoped for but she got her out safely and that's all that matters! They've not decided on Isabel or Isabella yet.

She doesn't have internet access at the mo but I'm sure she'll be on soon to tell you all the full story.

Ceolas · 29/08/2007 22:11

at all these births!

40+5 today. Going for second attempt at sweep tomorrow...

bambi06 · 30/08/2007 08:13

congrats on everyones babies.. im still here and after having a sweep on tues i had contractions off and on then yesterday morning after going to monitoring and thinking i had contractions they started to get stronger and waters[trickle] broke and they got stronger so once home from hospital i called midwife as theyd jumped to about every 4-5 mins, she examined me and said i was only 1-2 dilated but they needed to be more regular contractions as they were a bit erratic..some were doubles with no break in between so they left and said for me to call if they got unbearable, anyway i went to have a nap in the afternoon as id been up since 3 am and when i woke up to see the next midwife theyd stopped and have been playing up since then.. so all night they would stop start and only last bout 10-15 secs..not what was needed so god knows whats happening now..i still want to have this baby at home but my poor hubby is getting beside himself with worry and no sleep and today is 20 days over!!! they have talked about me going in because my waters have broken but i dont like the idea..what will happen next..ilovebabies how was it when you went in to have your waters broken.did they do anything else first? and were they VERY painful? i dont want everything to be taken out of my control as id planned this lovely homebirth...

Ceolas · 30/08/2007 09:08

Sorry to hear you're still in limbo, bambi. Hope things pick up soon.

Think today might be my day. Had contractions on and off since about 3am. Managed to sleep through some of it though. Now every five mins or so, but still bearable.

DH gone to work and will phone about 10am for an update.

bambi06 · 30/08/2007 09:37

bambi06 · 30/08/2007 14:31

can anybody give me positive vibes/advice on induction as it looks like ill have to have one tonight!!! theyve given me all the risks again and now the fact tha id already started labour and my waTERS HAVE BROKEN THEY THINK THEY WONT BE ABLE TO GIVE GEL ONLY DRIP[ANGRY] sorry..knocked caps lock on!! so whos had induction..tell me what its really like!!! plus has everyone that had waters break then gone on to have antibiotics for mother and baby? i really dont want ither of us to have ,especially the baby if it doesnt need..what a start to life!!!

tokentotty · 30/08/2007 16:26

Hey Bambi, a lot of that is what happened to me and I tell you one thing that you MUST do ok ? Insist on being given an epidural before they start any of the induction process if its going to be straight to the syntocin drip. I had to have all the anti biotics too as my waters broke over 24 hours before I went into labour. Patrick was on them from the Sunday morning he was born until we came home on Wednesday. It wasn't nice seeing him with a canula in but hey, whatever they need to keep them healthy right ? any other questions love ?

katybird · 30/08/2007 18:53

Good luck with the induction bambi, I know it's not what you'd planned but think of the baby you'll get to meet at the end of it. I've not been through induction but sending you lots of positive vibes .

Good luck Ceolas!

I've had such a frustrating day - had my 41-week appointment at the birth centre, baby was fine and they did a second sweep. But they were concerned because he's not engaged yet, in fact he's higher than last week, so they discussed it with the hospital and referred me to see a dr there, to check if anything was blocking his route. So, we had a half-hour drive over to the hospital, waited for two hours to see the registrar and she did absolutely nothing !! She didn't examine me, check the baby's head, heartbeat or anything. They seemed confused as to why I'd been sent there, just told me that if the head doesn't engage when I go into labour that they may want me to go in straight away as there's a risk of the cord coming out first. They were happy for me to stick with the birth centre rather than be referred back to the hospital, but I'm still waiting for the birth centre to decide. Grr.

And I got my induction date for Tuesday, which I intend to refuse assuming the baby's safe. Means going in for monitoring every day but I want to avoid it if poss.

Sorry for ranting, had to get it off my chest. Hope everyone else had a better day!

Ceolas · 30/08/2007 19:07

However, all high on baby love at moment. See you on the postnatal thread.

Good luck katy and bambi, congratulations ceolas.

bananabump · 30/08/2007 21:50

Yay! welcome to baby caitlin! beautiful name, if ours had been a girl, caitlin was on our names list. Sorry you had to transfer to hospital, what a pain in the bum! How was the waterbirth though? It always looks to me like a lovely gentle way to give birth...bet it doesn't feel "gentle" though lol

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 31/08/2007 08:00

CONGRATULATIONS BOO! what a nice experience for you - except for the hospital of course !

Is there many left now?

growingbagpuss · 31/08/2007 08:56
