I'm doing the walking around the house, really tired but can't sleep thing! Funny looking at the times people have been on! Good luck with the contractions Pink & Boo.

I'm going in to be induced on Tues (Ah that's tomorrow!!!!). Bit scared as I know this is where the hard work really begins! DH has just announced that he'll only be able to take a week off work so hope things go well!

Wish I wa boo but I'm still here. Went to the hospital last night about 10pm but was only 1-2 cm dialated so came home again. Seems although my contractions were every 4 mins they weren't lasting long enough to do a proper job and dilate the cervix. They continued throughout the night so got no sleep untill about 6am when they eased off to every 15 minutes so managed to doze between them. Tens achine helped during the night.

Thoroughly worn out now and beginning to think this baby is never coming out.

Good luck with the induction loler

katybird · 27/08/2007 13:37

Seems like everyone is moving along gradually now. I had some more shows last night, and mild pains, but nothing resembling a contraction yet. When I can't sleep tonight I'll be sure to log on to mumsnet, didn't think anyone would be around but seems like we're all up!

At least now you're having proper contractions Hersetta, can't be long now, got everything crossed for you ! You too pink and boo.

Good luck with the induction loler.

Hello ladies!

Baby Tate was Born at Home at 8.24 this morning, weighing in at 8lb 5oz!

Perfect home birth, had Just gas & air and tens - but unfortunately when he came out he ripped (sorry ladies if TMI) one of my 'flaps" as it was covering his head and Just Pinged! So baby fine, but had to go to hospital to be stitched up as needed a local for it ( ouch!) More of "cosmetic then bleeding but was worth it! back home by midday!

Will post full birth story when can sit better

Good Luck ladies!

Ceolas · 27/08/2007 15:54

Congratulations, pink. Hope you're feeling ok

loler · 27/08/2007 17:52

Congratulations Pink - finally got your homebirth! Good luck with the sitting!

Won't say what are you still doing here Ceolas!

Sorry if TMI but had the worst piles in the world for last few days - not really sure what to do to make them better. My biggest worry is that the birth is going to make them even worse. Any advice????

bambi06 · 27/08/2007 18:27

congrats to pink..im stillhere..18 days !! going to hospital tomorrow for monitoring again at day assessment unit and hopefully will have a sweep thta will work at this late stage!! midwives called to say hi to day to see how i am and have admitted they are in uncharted waters now and not sure what to do next..tee hee..i m presenting a challenge to them and they keep having to check with dr s in hospital as to what they can and cant do... maybe baby wants to beat this big brother who was 19 days over!! at this rate my kids are going to be back at school and no baby!!

katybird · 27/08/2007 19:38

Congratulations pink ! Glad you got your home birth, ouch on the flaps situation tho! Tate is a lovely name, look forward to the birth story.

Bambi, I don't know how you're still hanging on, I'm so impressed! I almost want him to hang on so you get your record, but don't want to wish that on you.

Loler - I've got piles too, a bit worried that the birth will make them burst (sorry if tmi!). I've been using anusol to treat them (dr prescribed) but without success, I guess the baby is pressing down on them now. Hot baths are meant to help, and eating lots of fibre and drinking lots of water should stop you from getting constipated and making them worse. Hope that helps.

growingbagpuss · 27/08/2007 19:57

Pink = sorry I couldn't post your text announcement- I will explain all later..

Congratlations, and well done! sorry about the trip to hosp = did you get an ambulance?!!

boobooma · 27/08/2007 21:33

Pink, fantastic, congratulations on Tate, well done for home birth.

Missed you last night, had just gone back to bed. My contractions disappeared until went for a walk today, same thing again this evening, except less frequent, only every 10 or 15 minutes, might try staying up to see what happens, would be a bit bizzare if it does work as its my due date tomorrow, but great as ds is at nursery .

katybird · 27/08/2007 22:00

Good luck boobooma!

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/08/2007 23:04

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 28/08/2007 09:26

my little man

growingbagpuss · 28/08/2007 09:52

Excellent Pink - which midwives did you have? Sorry about the stiches ow.

I hvae had mastitis all w/e... spent 2 hours on sun at the oncall service at the hosp (2effing hours) for a 5 minute appointment for antibiotics. Got home, temperature shot up, was freezing cold, and putting clothes on everyone.. DH had to point out to me that everyone else was hot!! Left breast on fire, v swollen, and my god -feeding put me through the roof! Ended up ringing post natal ward to beg them to tell me not to feed from that side.... no such luck, but they did say I could express rather than feed. Spent night with all covers over me, freezing cold - could barely get out of bed to get baby up for feeds.

Improvng now, but still feel flu'y and absolutely bloody knackered!! Evie won't settle and I really need some sleep!

conkertree · 28/08/2007 11:23

poor you bagpuss - sounds horrible. hope it clears up soon - sorry i dont know enough about it to offer anyhting useful.

Ceolas · 28/08/2007 11:27

Feeling very disheartened this morning. 40+4. Went for sweep but didn't get it as baby's head is still free. There's a risk of membrane rupture and cord prolapse if the head's not engaged.

Have another appointmet on Thursday so hopefully things will have improved by then.

Hersetta · 28/08/2007 13:35

I'm still here as well - contractions been going now for 65 hrs and as of last night I was still only 2cm. Now have the problem that I can't keep anything down - not even water and I've thrown up entire stomach contents twice already today. Feeeling really crappy and helpless.

Congrats to Pink on the arival of Tate.

growingbagpuss · 28/08/2007 13:48

Coelas and Hersetta - my heart goes out to you both!! You por things. Esp you Hersetta after such a close call wih the CS, you must be going out of your brain!

Fingers crossed for both of you that things will kick in soon, Coelas - you are obviously going to have a well donebabe -put your feet up and relax.

Hersetta - make sure they keep an eye on you - if you can't eat then by the time you do go into established labour you will be exhausted -make sure your m/w knows you can't keep anything down - last thing you need is an emergency CS coz your too exhausted through lack of food!

katybird · 28/08/2007 14:31

Hope things happen properly for you soon Hersetta, poor you. Do make sure they know you're not eating. Sending hugs .

I'm 40+5 today Ceolas, nothing happening here either so you have my sympathy. Trying to think of things I can do to make the little bugger less comfortable where he is !

Babylovesmuffins · 28/08/2007 17:07

HI Ladies

Very quick post. Apologies been incommunicado for a few weeks but just wanted to announce the arrival of baby Zoë May on Tuesday 21st August.

Zoë made a very quick entry into the world - to cut a long story short I ended up being induced due to high blood pressure and spent the last few weeks of pregnancy in and out of hospital for tests, so I wasn't allowed to go past my due date. Had dose of prostaglandin gel at 2.30pm on Monday 20th and the contractions started coming hard and fast later that afternoon. I was sent down to the labour ward at 11.45pm that night, apparently 2-3cm dilated and by the time we reached the ground floor in the lift I was fully dilated and ready to go!! Baby Zoë made an appearance 2 hours later, weighing in at a petite 6lb 9oz. Gas and Air is brill!!!!

My funny labour moments were having Gas and Air during the internal examination to see how far dilated I was before they applied the gel and asking DH very loudly if he'd heard the rave music and seen the smiley faces spinning round?????? Also, when I reached the delivery room I demanded to be allowed to "poo" and had to be coaxed off the bedpan so they could confirm that it wasn't actually a poo I needed but that baby was on her way

Anyway, just a quick update. I've uploaded some pics of little Zoë. Hope to see you all soon on the postnatal thread. At the moment I'm struggling a bit with b/f - got totally engorged on Day 4 and looked a bit like Jordan - absolute agony... hot flannels and Savoy cabbage leaves chilled in the fridge (!!) seemed to do the trick but still finding hard lumps, so baby struggling to feed a bit but we'll keep going.

Haven't had time to catch up on the thread - sorry - but congrats to everyone who has had their LO and good luck to all those still waiting.

i went to hospital to day for a sweep...not very favourable cervix STILL....AND IM 3 WEEKS OVER ON THURS! had gloom and doom from consultant on risks etc..basically bullying tactics from them.no positive outlook whatso ever .they made me feel as though i was risking my babies life and kept insisting that if i went over three weeeks i would be jeopardising their reputation..and career..can you believe the audacity of the drs!!! what about patient support..hah..he wanted a cut off date i would go to before thinking of inducement!!! i just gave them the weekend as a date ..next moment i know ,while im waiting to have monitoring , they com eout and say theyve booked me in to be induced on thurs!!!!! basically i broke down down in tears and told them they were all bullies and how much i hated hospitals..
the next scene is where im supposed to have my sweep by midwife who knows nothing about it and thought the drs appt was for that sole purpose. so she went off in a huff to have a go at drs at how theyd treated me..[id been there 4 hours by that point] being passed around like god knows what!!!! i had to have another scan and doppler..[had one of fri] anyway after being on monitor for a while i get a sweep from midwife who now has permission from consultant[what a load of red tape] cervix only soft but not favourable in that its not showing any signs of going into laboour..so what is inducing going to do if its not ready..put more presser and stress on baby thats what i think..i told them if i have pessary i will go home and labour..they have said they dont recommend it but cant stop me.. the battle ensues..this is why i dont tlike hospitals they try and take over.am i being so unreasonable to want to give birth naturally..i left the hospitable in a right state and cried all the way home and ttotally lost it once i got home and now im having a long rant on here to try and destress...sorry everyone but i need to get this off my chest ...

itchyncsratchy · 28/08/2007 19:30

oh my gosh! just had to post sympathy for you bambi, I hope the baby hurries up and budges itself out. Try not to get stressed though, you'll be holding your lo soon enough and all this nightmare will be forgotten

and hersetta I really feel for you, I was dreading being sent home when I went in for section. I hope your lo chooses tonight to make an appearance

itchyncsratchy · 28/08/2007 19:36

and big congratulations babyloves and Zoe, I'm actually a Zoe in RL! I've always loved my name, so much I was even tempted to pass it on to my daughter too!!
loved the birth story, must pass on tip to bash the savoy leaves a bit to release their enzymes and the 'rugby hold' position is good for draining engorged boobs

katybird · 28/08/2007 21:15

Oh bambi, poor you, you have my complete sympathy and feel free to rant away, your drs sound horrendous! What the eff's it got to do with their reputation and career?! It's your baby and as long as you're monitoring it to make sure it's still healthy it's completely up to you if and when you're induced. Don't let them bully you into it, you said the weekend and they totally ignored you. I'd be furious too, in fact I'm v for you.

Hopefully the sweep will be successful this time and you won't have to deal with drs any more. As itchy said tho, soon you'll have your LO and you can forget about this bit and just enjoy him/her.

Sending you hugs .

Congratulations babyloves ! She's absolutely gorgeous.

Hi all - a very late entrant I'm afraid (hope you don't mind)! Due date has been and gone today. All the girls from my NCT class had theirs so just desperate to get on with it now. Can't sleep at night so going to be a very long fortnight if it goes on that long which I have a horrible feeling it will
