Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

This is the 2nd time I'm doing the 1st trimester over Xmas so I'm a pro (or an idiot)!😂
One Xmas do tactic is to have DP match your drinks. Ie. You order double g&t and he orders a tonic (because he's driving/up early/manflu), then stealthily swap. If you're hosting, hide random bottles of substitutes everywhere x

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 10:03

Congratulations @Mimi91! We are also deciding on wether or not to book an early scan. And I am with you with the not drinking excuses.. mines starting today. We have friends over for Sunday lunch and usually I’d be the first to get stuck in to the wine 😫 so I am going to say I am babysitting my nephew later and have to drive. I hope that convinces them but most people know that a baby is on the cards for us, so I suspect people will be suspicious! But you are right, they are good problems too have.

@amysara24 have you done anymore digital tests? I keep testing and need to stop 😂

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 10:08

@missdrifter that sounds believable though - either that or pour a glass and nurse it, or sub in a non alcoholic wine (which probably tastes rubbish but needs must!)
I’ve done 3 in total 🤦🏽‍♀️ The digital ones annoy me as the result goes after a while so I can’t keep going back to look!! I’ve had to stop ad they’re so expensive haha. I definitely think I’ll be looking into a scan at 6 weeks to put my mind at ease. My first nhs one is booked for 8 weeks with the clinic and still waiting on my first midwife appointment coming through. It feels like the days are going so slow! How have you been keeping? Still can’t quite believe I’m here to be honest!

Louu99 · 17/11/2019 10:22

I think I'm going to have to leave this group. My period has arrived today 🙁

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 10:48

Non alcoholic wine is a good one @amysara24!

That will be good reassurance for you at 6 weeks but my midwife told me that heart beat is most likely detected at 8 weeks? I have def heard that it can be detected much earlier though. I am not going to be booked in for my first scan with nhs until 12/13 weeks which is in January 😩! So I was thinking about booking one for about 21st December when I will be over 9 weeks. It’s so tricky isn’t it. I am feeling fine to be honest but tired and tender boobs, plus a lot of bloating. How are you keeping up? I still can’t quite believe it either! Xx

@Louu99 I am so sorry to hear that AF has turned up. From what I have read, Bleeding is apparently fairly common in early pregnancy. Is there a chance that it could possibly be just pregnancy bleeding? X

Louu99 · 17/11/2019 10:52

@Missdrifter I've no idea 🙁 feel so confused. Today is the day my expected period is due, so I'm all over the place. I have tests here but don't want to do them incase it says negative, and it's a long wait to see the doctor tomorrow 🙁 x

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 10:53

@Louu99 sorry to hear - but bleeding can be an early pregnancy symptom too. Maybe wait and see if it gets heavier and if not take another test?
@missdrifter I know it would be very unlikely to see a heartbeat at that stage but they say they can assess growth etc to give reassurance that things are ok. It’s maybe a money maker for them but I’m so tempted 🤦🏽‍♀️ My first one is booked for 11/12, so not too long to wait I know. I’ve definitely still got tender boobs too, and they feel so heavy! I also get really cold in the evenings though I’ve read that this is totally normal in early stages.. who knows! It’s so exciting, but so hard not to be anxious too! Xx

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 11:02

@Louu99 I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Maybe give the doctors a call in the morning?

@amysara24 that’s a good idea then. I think we will def book private too because I can’t wait until January. Before I got pregnant I was paranoid that we couldn’t get pregnant and all I wanted was to see a positive test. And now all I want is to get to 12 weeks but I guess if all goes well and I get to 12 weeks I will start worrying about the next hurdle. I do feel very lucky though.

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 11:33

@missdrifter I know exactly what you mean. I honestly feel exactly the same. I thought a pregnancy would never happen after 2 years TTC (and my GP told me I was beginning early menopause - at 27!) and now I’m just so anxious something will happen before 12 weeks.
Like you said, after 12 weeks I’m sure there will be another milestone for us to worry about!

Izabela86 · 17/11/2019 13:28

@Louu99 I had two days of spotting around my period was due. Yesterday at 5w1d I had a bit of brown discharge and thought it wasn't going to be good news. Went to the EPU this morning and all looks fine for now. Obviously it's still early days but don't lose hope!

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 16:45

@Missdrifter just off the phone with the midwife. My first appointment with them is 6th December! Seems very soon, not that I’m complaining! So I reckon I’ll hold off on a private scan as it would probably only be a couple of days before that anyway!

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 16:51

@amysara24 that’s good for you, I wish mine was much sooner. It’s strange how different counties differ. I don’t feel very pregnant today and that’s worrying me. I need to step away from google. Is your appointment at your home?

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 16:54

@missdrifter google is a nightmare sometimes 😞 it’s at the hospital, I’ve probably got lucky as the midwife I’ve been referred to only has 2 days of appointments in December which is why it’s so early. I’m in Scotland too, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference!

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 17:01

@amysara24 oh maybe. My first appointment is at my house on the 23rd. I can’t believe I am actually wanting morning sickness to kick in. My digital clear blue said 2-3 weeks today so I am hoping that’s a good sign that my HCG lever has gone up. Have you told anyone yet?

amysara24 · 17/11/2019 17:06

@missdrifter it’ll be nice having it at home! That’s definitely a good sign, as long as your levels are going up I don’t think you should worry at this stage, though I know it’s hard because I do the same!
I haven’t, I considered telling my parents soon because they know we’ve been TTC and about all the difficulties but I’ve decided to wait until after that appointment, to be on the safe side. Have you?

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 19:15

@amysara24 it’s hard not telling people isn’t it. I think we are going to go for a scan at 9 weeks and if that’s all fine then we will tell close family and friends. Then let everyone else know after the 12weeks. Seems so far away though.

How is everyone else feeling?

@Louu99 how are you?

ninemonthwait · 17/11/2019 21:06

I've got a digital test on order and hoping to see a 2-3 weeks for a bit of reassurance! I don't feel pregnant at all. I didn't think time could move any slower than during the TWW but waiting for my early scan the days seem to be going backwards! I don't think I will believe there is a baby growing until I see it!

Missdrifter · 17/11/2019 21:23

@ninemonthwait I know what you mean about time moving so slowly. How far along are you? I think I am 4 weeks 5 days and literally wishing the weeks by. I can’t see past the 12 week scan at the moment.

ninemonthwait · 17/11/2019 21:27

@Missdrifter I am 4+4 today so very early days. I have a scan on 5th December so just counting down the days!

Nelly325 · 18/11/2019 13:11

Just got mine last week on second month of trying, due 22nd July. So exciting! Have a 10 month old DS and we cannot believe it happened so quickly, daunted by having two under 2!!!

Kiki275 · 18/11/2019 13:16

@Nelly325 we're currently due date twins! I have a 14 month old so will have 2 under 2 too. It's so daunting x

Nelly325 · 18/11/2019 14:06

@kiki275 yay!! How are you feeling, any symptoms so far?
