Anyone else just got their BFP? After 15 months of trying I have finally got mine, I am so excited but terrified of the long nine months ahead. Will definitely be going for an early scan in December for some reassurance!

Hello, I'd like to join you all. I've just found out that I'm 12 weeks pregnant! Shock

I found out I was pregnant shortly before Christmas and calculated I was due at the end of August. We'd been trying since March. I had a miscarriage on Christmas Eve - lost a pint of blood and had contractions - and have lightly bled and felt rough ever since.

Yesterday I had a scan to check that all was OK, and was told that I was pregnant! (It's possible that I had lost a twin on Christmas Eve). What's more, I'm actually due a month earlier - in late July.

I'm thrilled... but haven't quite got my head around it yet!

zeeeex · 23/01/2020 10:20

Had my first scan yesterday. Baby is healthy and due 26th July 💕💕 absolutely delighted. X

@FriedasCarLoad congratulations!! That's amazing news 🥰

FriedasCarLoad · 23/01/2020 11:14

Thank you so much, @zeeeex. Those are beautifully clear ultrasound pictures, wow!

squirrelnutkins1 · 23/01/2020 13:07

@FriedasCarLoad wow what a rollercoaster!!

@zeeeex oh my life, looks like he/she's smiling!!!

Missdrifter · 23/01/2020 19:30

Hi ladies, hope you are all ok. We had a little scare as my bloods were really off in the screening test so we got sent for a harmony test. Thankfully everything has come back all fine and we got to find out the sex of the baby 😊. I wasn’t going to mention it encase it worried anyone but then thought actually it might help anyone else going through something similar. Congratulations to everyone who has had their scans recently x

amysara24 · 23/01/2020 20:11

@missdrifter I’m so sorry to hear you had a scare, but fantastic news that all is well in the end!
@FriedasCarLoad what a few weeks you’ve had - congratulations and I hope the next few months are healthy happy ones for you. My mum was told she had had a MC at 10 weeks when expecting me - here I am! They told her the same thing, it was possibly a twin.
I’ve been having pains in my sides today and an itchy belly, so I think bean is starting to need more room! I’m also convinced I’m starting to show, though I’m desperate for a bump so it might be wishful thinking! 14+1 today 😊 and definitely still tired! Also found out a pupil in my class has rubella, so have to go for bloods on Monday and have my immunity double checked.
I hope you’re all having a great week!

ninemonthwait · 23/01/2020 20:14

Welcome @FriedasCarLoad what a roller-coaster you have been on!

@Missdrifter glad everything is OK! Finding out the sex how exciting!! I always thought I wanted it to stay a surprise but DH said they would like to know so think we will get them to write it down on our 20 week scan then open it on our wedding anniversary at the end of April as a compromise.... I'm starting to think I won't last until then though as dying to know!

@amysara24 ooh that's interesting to hear of someone else experiencing the same... Wonder if my child will be posting on mumsnet in 25 years time?!

@ninemonthwait oh that's such a lovely plan. Hope you have better willpower than I would though Wink

Missdrifter · 23/01/2020 20:58

@friedasCarLoad I have just read your post, sounds like you have been through it but what a lovely surprise for you.

@ninemonthwait I couldn’t resist finding out but finding out on your wedding anniversary is such a lovely idea x

HairsprayBabe · 24/01/2020 00:06

That is such a lovely way to find out together
We are keeping it a surprise
Been badly sick again the last few days had to go in for anti-sickness injections on Tuesday
I still feel extremely tired
But I am officially 2nd trimester now
I want to start buying a few bits soon I think

pottypotamus · 24/01/2020 10:11

Good morning ladies, how are you all doing?

Quick question for you all, someone has gone down with mumps at work, and I know it's incredibly contagious before symptoms show. I don't work too closely to them, but pass in the corridor/office/kitchen. I have no idea about my immunisation status, should I contact my doc/midwife to see if I need checking out?

Not sure what they would check tbh. Or am I just being super paranoid? Confused

HairsprayBabe · 24/01/2020 11:54

Speak to your GP straight away my DH had shingles a few weeks ago and I had never had chicken pox so they gave me blood tests to check my immunity.

For mumps they will either check your records for vaccinations or give you a blood test.

amysara24 · 24/01/2020 17:07

@pottypotamus definitely speak to your GP or midwife. A pupil in one of my classes is off with suspected rubella, and even though my MMR jab is up to date I have to go for bloods on Monday to make sure my immunity is still high enough. I suspect they’ll do the same for mumps! Definitely worth being cautious I think, not paranoid at all 😊
@ninemonthwait that’s such a nice idea! We’ve said we won’t find out but I know I’ll be staring at the screen intently when we’re in for our scan!
@hermionelodge sorry to hear you’ve been sick, hopefully the jab will help and it will start to ease off soon naturally too!

pottypotamus · 24/01/2020 17:38

Thanks ladies, I messaged my midwife earlier but she hasn't gotten back to me. Just called GP surgery and waiting a call back from them.

HairsprayBabe · 24/01/2020 19:16

@pottypotamus you can call 111 tomorrow morning and they should be able to get you a same day appt at your walk in center
That's what I ended up doing

pottypotamus · 24/01/2020 19:46

Thanks @HairsprayBabe
I had a call back from the GP, he said they wouldn't take any preventative measures for Mumps as the vaccine is live and can't be given to pregnant women. All he said for me to do is to keep an eye on how I feel and any glands around the cheek/neck swelling.
So fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Missdrifter · 25/01/2020 20:56

This evening I have been getting little tight twinges around the middle and sides of my stomach? Is anyone else experiencing this? I am 14 weeks 4 days. Thanks

amysara24 · 25/01/2020 21:06

@missdrifter I’ve been having these for a couple of days - sort of where the dips of my hips would be if I had dips 😂
I’m a day behind you at 14+3, and have been assuming it’s things starting to stretch? I’m also fairly sure I’m starting to show now! Would love to hear if others are having the same sort of feelings!

Missdrifter · 25/01/2020 21:11

@amysara24 I am pleased I am not the only one. I am sure it must be stretching pains but not sure why I am getting them in the middle of my stomach but they come and go and aren’t painful but enough for me to know they are they. I have also started to show but to anyone else I probably just look like I haven’t stopped the Christmas over indulging. X

amysara24 · 25/01/2020 21:17

@missdrifter I’m trying to be as chilled as I can about everything, so been telling myself it’s all totally normal! I know what you mean, I haven’t noticed any in the middle just mainly the sides. My skin has been itchy too though!
Went shopping today and got a few maternity wear bits, was worried I would wake up some day and none of my work clothes would fit!
I’ve also booked a private scan for 8th feb for a bit of reassurance before we go all out telling people - I’ve not been keeping it a secret now but haven’t done any social media posting etc. Also because my cousin was due her first baby the first week of feb but she arrived this morning! And I don’t want to look like I’m stealing any thunder so going to wait a few weeks.
How have you been keeping? I feel like time is going a bit quicker now than the first few weeks! X

Missdrifter · 25/01/2020 21:27

That’s a good idea about booking another scan, I think we will too. I have been keeping fine apart from the fact that I have low Papp-a which just gives me an extra thing to worry about, haha. I def feel like the time is going quicker now though. I haven’t done any social media announcement either but my friends and family all know. Do you feel more relaxed now?
Congratulations on your cousins baby, I hope both mum and baby are doing well x

amysara24 · 25/01/2020 21:39

@missdrifter oh that’s a shame, though I’m sure they’ll keep an eye on it at your appointments! I’m the same though I think I will put something up eventually, maybe after the next scan! I’m definitely starting to relax more as the weeks go by, very glad we have a private clinic locally though because I think I would be a bit nervous by 10th March if I had to wait! What about you?
Thank you, she was scheduled for a section on Monday as baby was breach but the little one had other ideas! It’s made me really REALLY look forward to that first cuddle moment too, she sent me a pic of hers and it’s just amazing 💗 x

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/01/2020 22:20

I've been having the twinges too, on the right and across the middle. I'm 13+6. I'm also trying to keep as chill as poss! We've booked another scan too cus my anxiety is in overdrive so that's 12th Feb and then we'll tell people. I'll be 16+3 then. I'm still waiting on the downs results, hoping they'll come next week. Part of me thinks surely I'd have had a phone call by now if we were high risk, so again trying to keep chill and positive!

Congrats on new family baby 😊

HairsprayBabe · 25/01/2020 23:17

I'm feeling uncomfortable twinges too, feeling really bloated at the moment as well.

If I prod around on my lower stomach it is definitely hard and I can feel the outline of my uterus.

Also my nipples have started leaking clear fluid when stimulated (you can ask my DH how we found that one out Blush).

Made my first baby purchase today 25 second hand newborn vests on eBay for £1 plus £2.90 postage don't actually think I will need any more than that. Also got my eye on some sleep suits, muslins and baby grows if I have my way babies first wardrobe won't cost me more than £30 Grin
