Sorry your bleeding has gotten worse @TwittleBee, I have everything crossed for you.

So, update... Our son, Rowan, was born last night by forceps in the operating theatre (narrowly missing an emergency c section) because his heart rate dropped below 100. It was terrifying, we thought we were going to lose him but all was well and my predicted "giant" from the scans was born weighing 6lbs 13oz of absolute perfection. We're still in hospital but will hopefully be discharged tomorrow. I'm so in love!

Congratulations @Beaglemum93 what a cutie!

@Twittlebee good luck for tomorrow I hope you get some answers.

I've got what will be final scan and consultant appointment tomorrow provided everything looks ok. I'm still feeling quite sore since Friday I'm hoping it's not going to be like this for the next few weeks.

We put our Christmas decorations up this weekend and I've had a few cries over the fact that this should be DD2's first Christmas. Also brings a lot of memories back as I was in hospital most of last Christmas.

sadtoday21 · 08/12/2019 21:43

Congrats @Beaglemum93!! Rowan is absolutely adorable and so glad you are both doing well Xxx.

KnitKitty · 08/12/2019 21:50

@Beaglemum93 Congratulations!! He's precious! Sounds like a scary ride, but so glad everything is fine. Xxx

@sadtoday21 31 weeks the survival rate for premies jumps to 95% and 34 weeks it's the same as full-term. They've been my 3rd trimester milestones.

@Bluebelltulip hope the appointment goes well tomorrow. Christmas is a really difficult time. Hugs xxx

coconutlatte44 · 08/12/2019 22:46

Congrats @Beaglemum93! So glad he got there safely in the end. Hope you are doing ok.

InDreamland · 08/12/2019 22:59

Congratulations @Beaglemum93! Welcome to the world baby Rowan! He's gorgeous!

Awwww what a little cutie. Congratulations x

InDreamland · 08/12/2019 23:07

Good luck for your scan @TwittleBee. Hoping everything is okay.

@KnitKitty glad all was well after the scare! That must have been so worrying.

@Bluebelltulip hope you have a good scan and appointment tomorrow! I think a few of us here are sharing your emotions this Christmas with our lost ones not being here to have their first Christmas. My two have personalised baubles with the date I passed them so every Christmas they are remembered and part of the family. I was buying Christmas cards today on the high street and saw loads of first Christmas ones and had to stop myself crying as I started welling up. Allow yourself to feel sad.

@Frillyfarmer yay for reaching the 3rd trimester!

Congratulations @Beaglemum93!!! He is adorable! Glad you are both doing well and hope you're out of hospital soon!

Twittlebee · 09/12/2019 06:26

@sadtoday21 32 weeks, then 34, then 37 then 39. 32 weeks because that was that was the earliest they would have wanted to delivered Roy as chances of survival are amazing at 32 weeks and it's classed as "moderately premature". 34 weeks as that's the target to keep babies in and usually they can be born naturally just fine rather than needing a section and that was our actual target for delivery of Roy. 37 weeks as that's early term. 39 weeks as that's full term.

Oh so beautiful @Beaglemum93 ! Sorry about that rocky delivery though. Good luck for today's discharge.

@Bluebelltulip it's a tough time of year isn't it. Have you thought if youd like to do any traditions each christmas to still include DD2? If you would like, I can share an idea that the Hospice gave to us on Saturday.

Thank you for the good luck and well wishes. Just need 11.20am to hurry up now. I think I might get there early in case they are running early (never know!)

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 09/12/2019 06:32

Good luck today @Twittlebee will be thinking of you xxx

strawberrye · 09/12/2019 06:55

@KnitKitty glad little girl is ok in there after your scare.

@frillyfarmer congratulations on reaching the third trimester!

@Beaglemum93 congratulations, Rowan is so adorable! Sounds like his arrival was terrifying but so glad things worked out ok in the end

@sadtoday21 I'm good thanks, 27+1 today so nearly at the third trimester, which I can't believe I'm saying! Went for a 4D scan yesterday and got to see little one's face and her waving at us, really special and hope you enjoy yours. In terms of symptoms it's mainly feeling tired and achey, although the toilet trips are definitely becoming more frequent! How about you?

InDreamland · 09/12/2019 08:02

@TwittleBee thinking of you this morning! Good luck! Hope little bubba is okay in there.

@strawberrye gosh that's exciting, almost in 3rd trimester. I have been considering a 4D scan, not because of anxiety as the movements help with that but just because I want to see my Bubsy. I bet seeing her must have been so special and amazing.

OP posts:
InDreamland · 09/12/2019 08:06

I've got another cold. Feeling so sorry for myself. Still really tired too. Don't know how I'm going to get through this week. Bubsy was nice and active yesterday, plenty of wriggling about and was still at it when I wanted to sleep. Woke up to kicking too this morning. I love the reassurance even though I sleep less. I've been looking at the preemie stats on the Tommy's website. Really don't want Bubsy coming before 37 weeks.

@Squiff70 thinking of you and Ava. Hope she is still fighting hard and getting stronger every day!

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue how are you enjoying being on mat leave now?

OP posts:
Rubyroost · 09/12/2019 08:13

Of course ideally everyone wants to cook their babies til they're done, but at 29 weeks the stats are very good.. That's what you are now?

Squiff70 · 09/12/2019 08:35

Many congratulations @Beaglemum93, Rowan is absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry you has just a rough ride with his delivery.

Thank you for asking after us @InDreamland. Ava continues to make progress. Here's a photo of her from yesterday.

Rubyroost · 09/12/2019 12:38

Awww Squiff70 so pleased Ava is making progress. It must be so hard for you grieving for your little boy and being there for Ava at the same time. Thinking of you, even if I don't ask on this thread.. Don't want you to feel pressured to update etc. X

Kayjay2018 · 09/12/2019 12:54

Congratulations on baby Rowan @Beaglemum93, he is beautiful, you must be so pleased he is here. I hope you are recovering ok both emotionally and physically, it sounds like you had a scary time
@Squiff70 you daughter is so very beautiful. I'm so pleased she is continuing to make progress. Make sure you are looking after yourself too.
@Twittlebee I hope this morning has gone ok for you. My thoughts are with you.

I feel for you @InDreamland I normally cope with colds (with the aid of over counter remedies). This last one knocked me out for 3 days, I can recommend Sterimar (a saline nasal spray) to clear your nose. Was recommended by chemist and did work.

@strawberrye wow 27 weeks, how lovely that your little one was waving at you!

@Bluebelltulip I hope your scan and consultant appt goes well. I have my anomaly scan a week on Thursday and then enter into 4 week growth scans plus the heart scans on top. My consultant however now doesn't want to see me for 10weeks!
@KnitKitty I'm glad they monitored you and little one was very active. Mine doesn't like my heart monitor so seems to run and hide from it! Frustrating when you are trying to get a reading
@Notnowokay your DS sounds so lovely. The computer game analogies are great. When my son was struggling at a topic at school, the teacher likened it to when you fail at a level on your game and have to start over, you get better and better and move on. Worked a treat!

So my bump has reached 18+1 today, back to midwife for a heart rate check Wednesday morning. So far (touch wood) I've been able to log heart rate twice a day. Goodness knows what it's up to in there half the time, it hides from the monitor (although I have sussed out best place to hear it) and then either sounds like tumble weed blowing through or like there is a light saber fight going on. Bump is undeniable and is now causing me what I can only assume is sciatic nerve pain. Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pillow?

Twittlebee · 09/12/2019 13:22

She really is so precious @Squiff70 what a cutie. I cannot imagine that contrast of grieving for your son and yet keeping up hope for your daughter. Sending love x

@InDreamland really hope bubsy keeps in there until at least 37 weeks for you too, preferably as close to 39-40 weeks. I dont think I'll ever find stats reassuring.

So update from me and our DS3 ! He is fine, although measuring behind again (we keep losing days?). I have been told strict rest though as they arent sure where the bleeding is from although they suspect the cervix. Just so weird because it is whenever I do something slightly strenuous that the bleeding gets worse, e.g. Saturday I did a large grocery shop.

Kayjay2018 · 09/12/2019 13:28

@TwittleBee I'm glad little one is fine. Your nerves must be completely shot! Are your midwife team going to be monitoring you more closely from now on?

Bluebelltulip · 09/12/2019 13:37

@Twittlebee yay glad DS3 is ok. Seems like you will be resting a lot. I hope the bleeding does stop for you.

Twittlebee · 09/12/2019 13:53

Here is a pic! Nerves are a mess. I'll be seeing my consultant and MW every 2-3 weeks anyway so not sure they can really keep much of a closer eye on me

Kayjay2018 · 09/12/2019 14:00

@Twittlebee what a precious scan photo. Pleased to hear the MW is seeing you more often. You need to sit back and enjoy all the Christmas re runs and movies whilst enjoying some much deserved chocolate. (I was told with my DS that it's good for the baby, in the right amount, as it releases feel good hormones in the min and therefore relaxes baby too!)
