j20baby · 09/09/2007 17:43

another quickie from me i'm afraid

inzi-glad your ok, get some rest though!!

i heard the mw telling another lady yesterday that it is the membranes surrounding the baby that produce the water so it can be replenished.

i'm finding it really difficult to drive atm, lo really hurts me when i'm in that position so i spend all my time driving swearing!

LES-hope your ok

thanks for the tips alice, beenand bought some cranberry juice today, right off to do tea, will be back later.

Inzi; Good to hear that you are home for the day at least and also that LO is still safe and sound...what a shock for you though... don't think I'll go and see "knocked up" now, I'll wait until it comes on sky! Happy Birthday for tomorrow. Hope the pains settle down.

LES; I know you haven't any credit but try to let us know how you are asap please. IU dearly hope everything is ok

Lisa;same to you, try to keep rested.

good luck to all with appointments tomorrow.

I'm over my disappointment about water birth now..I think (still miffed though, I know I handle pain better in water, it's how I coped with gall stones)...but am looking forward to my diabetic consultants appointment on Tuesday to see what his halfpennyworth is going to be..last time I saw him he wanted to induce me at 37.5 wks which would mean a week tomorrow (approx. 17th)...if we do that then at least I have half a chance of singing at my friends wedding on the 29th..my gynae consultant wants to induce me at 29 weeks which would mean the 28th and no chance of going to the wedding let alone singing at it...but Inzi will be pleased to know I got my bag packed yesterday (well almost...need a few more luxuries like a fan and CDs)just in case LO makes a break for it (it does feel awfully low now ...everybody has noticed!)
Hope everyone gets a decent nights sleep for a change.....I'm off to mums for Sunday dinner and then picking Dh and his stag mates up from the airport at 8.30 so doubt I'll be back on tonight. Have a good night everyone.

HonorMatopoeia · 09/09/2007 17:57

Welcome back Inzi and Happy Birthday for tomorrow. Glad lo has decided to stay put for a while!
alicet - would love some site links if possible. Have a long evening ahead of me chatting about this all with DH, but I want to go into that room tomorrow having made my mind up with reasons.
LES - hope your pains subside and if you have to go to the hospital they can sort you out quickly and have you home soon!

With regards to the bag, I've been to Sainsburys today and got a few bits and pieces as I'm determined to pack this week. Must nip to Mothercare as well (difficult as can't drive at all anymore - can't remember who said they spent thier drive swearing as painful, but I know where you're coming from!). Also have to send DH up the attic to fetch down newborn clothes for me to launder and sort!
Panic.....me.....never......AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

muppetgirl · 09/09/2007 18:28

Hi all,

Inzi -Glad you are home and things have calmed down for the moment. Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!

Les - My text Buddy!!! I hope all is well for you x

Floria - I cannot believe you are singing at a friends wedding!!!!

Well, dh took Ollie swimming in the morning while I sat and read the paper I then took some clothes back to next that I stupidly thought would fit me but surprise surprise they didn't! I have been wearing size 10 maternity stuff after I gret out of the size 8 stuff and now think I'll have to buy a couple of things that are 12. I'm finding the seams on the trousers ( I like the over the bump ones) are digging in to my tummy button and casing red marks that are really sore.

We came back and dh cooked raost chicken ( he cooks a mean roast!) whilst I did some biscuits for the week. My feet are now like balloons and my knees are mow hurting.

Ollie is watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and telling me that the child catcher (the catcher mummy!) is a really bad man. He's so cute x

I have my 32 week growth scan tomorrow (please still be big I want to be induced at 38 weeks........) and have to take Ollie as friends and neighbours are all working in the morning. Not sure how they'll react as you're not supposed to take children but I really don't have a choice.

The child catcher has just got the children in the back of his truck Ollie is now gutted...
x

Evening all ... had a lovely time at the wedding - and didn't need my labour bag! I know what you mean about looking like a weeble on crutches!

I only lasted til 9pm though, and then got to a stage that if I didn't leave fairly soon, I wouldn;t be able to drive ... so we left soon after!

Lovely B&B - if anybody is anywhere near Fishguard and wants a nice place to stay, I can give you details ... it was like going to stay with your favourite Auntie and Uncle ... (we decided the landlady was like DH's Auntie Doris on speed!) Exactly how you imagine a farmer's wife to be ...

Am now absolutely shattered, and not feeling too good - am going to bed in a bit!

inzi & j20 - am so glad you haven't popped yet!

buffy - please take it easy

alice - sorry to hear the sickness is back - I was sick all last week as well ... but now the end is in sight, it somehow doesn't feel so bad!

Hi to everybody else!

I too have a consultant appointment on Tuesday (if he's back from compassionate leave) ... part of me hopes he isn't (although I feel very guilty thinking that!) as I don't want to have to argue the toss about something that I have thought about and considered very carefully ... as have all of us debating the vbac route ...

Hope everybody is ok with bump buddies - if you want me set you up with one, my email address is: eirian dot thomas at gmail dot com

Won't be long 'til I'm in bed now ... dh is away on site this week - he leaves at 6am tomorrow - this is his last site work until after the baby is born (at least, this is the last site work where he has to stay away!)

love to all ...

j20baby · 09/09/2007 19:49

hi all, i'm back.

FT-can't believe you may be getting induced a week tommorrow!! this is getting scarey now!!

can someone do a list of who's having c sections and being induced on what dates??
i'm not sure who's doing what at the moment!

well i went to the baby fair thing, it wasn't that good, a woman with an underwear shop reckoned i was going to be a 32G for a nursing bra, even though i told her i was a 34 back to start off with! she wouldn't be told though!

i've had tingly boobs since last night so think they're filling up with milk.

anyone heard from Dal?

right off to read the mother and baby magazine that dd insisted on to get the free babies r us brochure, its not bad this month, you get a free dummy, rattle, huggies wipes and some brochures for £2.40-bargain!

Hi j20

I think we need a new stats list as not as many people are regularly on as was the begining. (If that makes any sense at all???)

I've also forgotton who was due when as well.

Have nicked your birth plan as a starting point to as the headings were great.

j20baby · 09/09/2007 20:05

hi mg, thats ok, i googled it then cut and pasted it to word

yep, new stats thread sounds good, there is an Oct stats thread somewhere , but can't be bothered to find it.

so

HMP ? Just mailed you with the links I have in my favourites about sections and vbac. Plus a couple of documents from the royal college of obstetricians and gynaecologists and NICE. Hope its not too late and there isn?t too much info there! At the mo I find I can?t take much in ? baby brain I guess!

Muppet ? good luck at growth scan tomorrow?

Ejt ? hope your appt goes well on Tues as well?. Thinking of you managing with dh away while you have been struggling with pain?. At least you are on mat leave so will be able to rest a bit.

J20 ? Hope that you aren?t up quite as often tonight!!! If it is a water infection make sure you drink loads. Sounds stupid as that will mean you?re up for a wee but at least you will be weeing proper amounts! Which should make it sting less (if that?s been a problem) Sorry if this is tmi!!!!

Well no news from here? And I haven?t been a good girl and packed after all that although I have dug out my excel file that has on it everything I took last time! Most of the bits and pieces are together in ds1?s new room anyway and will check what else I need tomorrow?

Currently sitting eating jaffa cakes and watching casualty!

j20baby · 09/09/2007 20:16

ooh alice-jaffa cakes, yummmmmy

tbh its not really stinging and its not tiny amounts either, i did wake up in the night in agony with the dull ache in my stomach which felt like a water infection, i'm almost hoping it is, at least then i can get it sorted out and the pains will stop!

OP posts:
j20baby · 09/09/2007 20:19

alice-will you not be induced earlier than your due date?

oh and now i need some jaffa cakes and haven't got any!!

OP posts:
j20baby · 09/09/2007 20:19

sorry, i meant have your section earlier than the date you are due?

OP posts:
alicet · 09/09/2007 20:24

J20 I will have my section sometime between 2nd and 9th - he said at my initial appointment that he would not do it before 39 weeks which would be 2nd Oct. Not going to accept date later than due date either! If I go into labour earlier I'll take a view as to whether I try for vbac or not depending on how things stand when I get in. So I guess the latest my lo will arrive is 9th Oct!!! A month from today OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alicet · 09/09/2007 20:26

And I would send you some jaffa cakes but I have inhaled the whole pack in about 5 mins (with a little help from dh)

muppetgirl · 09/09/2007 20:33

Can you have a look at my birth plan please?
It's nicked from j20 with my own wishes put under the headings.

Birth partner
My husband Chris

Pain Management
I have tried gas and air and also pethadine with my first son and was extremely sick and out of control.
I would like an epidural as soon as possible.

Labour
I understand having an epidural will necessitate monitoring but I would like to try to avoid constant monitoring and remain mobile for as long as possible.

Caesarean
Unless absolutely necessary, I would like to avoid a Caesarean.

Episiotomy
I don?t mind having an episiotomy if medical reasons dictate.

Delivery
I don?t mind having ventouse if medical reasons dictate but I do not want forceps.
I would like the baby to be cleaned before he is given to me.

Immediately After Delivery
My husband does not want to cut the cord
I would like to hold the baby while I deliver the placenta and any tissue repairs are made if possible, although I may change my mind about this immediately after the birth and my husband will hold him.

Breastfeeding
I plan to breastfeed and would like to begin nursing very shortly after birth.
I don?t mind if the baby is given a bottle if he is still hungry, after breastfeeding, and I am unable to feed him. (As happened with my previous delivery of my first son)

Other
I am absolutely terrified of giving birth as I found my previous labour and delivery traumatic. I had severe post natal depression and are still receiving weekly psychological help in preparation for my second child?s birth.
I fear being out of control and not being informed and would appreciated being consulted on every aspect of my care and included in any decision making.
If I am unable to make decisions for myself my husband will make decisions for me. He is very aware of my wishes.

This birth plan is not exhaustive and while I hope it can be kept to during the labour and birth I understand that this is not always possible.

lisad123 · 09/09/2007 20:44

Hmm Im still here

The contractions are still coming, have been 20 mins, then 13, and the last two have been 8 mintutes The difficultie is there not that strong, Im managing fine so not too worried, think they might stop soon, fingers crossed I know i should ring midwife, but really dont feel i need to yet.
I think i might go and sit in bed with DH laptop so I can carry on chatting here.
