Morning all

Inzi - How are you this morning? Has the rash gone?

Choc - I totally understand the no overnight thing and have no problem with them being here in the day. I really want privacy at night and first thing in the morning so we can adjust as a family. MIL lets Ollie do exactly what he wants and I don;t thik could take the battles we normally have. I also don;t want dh to feels he's in the middle as that is not the issue when Henry's born. It's about him being a dad again not his bl**dy mother....

I have my growth scan today and have already had the 'talk' to Ollie about behaving. I have also got the back up plan of bribary....a lollipop and a sweetie. (The sweetie is in fact an omega fish/vitamins tablet but he thinks it's a huge treat )

Good luck to all those having apps. today too.

muppetgirl · 10/09/2007 08:48

Mrs Fish - Oh what a morning already! The men really don't understand about the tiredness thing do they? I only woke up twice last night and thought that was fab - my how things change in such a short space of time!! I found that if I was short with Ollie dh would tell me off for being unreasonable but then I explained that I had had this behaviour for x ammount of days and I was truly sick of it. They forget they never actually have their dc alone as much as we do and I have to say I think we deserve a bl**dy medal....especially you Mrs Fish, you've had your ds all by yourself for 10 days whilst being heavily prgt.

You're marvelous!!!!

MrsFish · 10/09/2007 09:07

Thanks muppetgirl, its nice to be told you are doing a good job once in a while

j20baby · 10/09/2007 09:11

morning all

mrsfish-poor you, can you fit a nap in today at some point?

hope inzi and les are ok, i haven't heard anything from inzi so i assume she's at home.

well, i only got up 7 times last night, which is better than 11, but i feel crap, think i'm getting a cold, don't think there's anything i haven't suffered with yet! i've taken dd to school and think i'm going to go back to sleep.

hi to everyone

Argghh. Sorry
Contractions settled down about 4am, phew. But something very odd happened this morning. As I got up and went to bathroom, all of a sudden there was about 4 pops!! Like someone was popping balloons in my back, very odd. Loads of pressure on my cervix again, and all i can feel when i walk in loads of grinding and poping opt of sockets in my hips
MW once said to me some woman hear a pop when waters break, but no waters have come out, so think it might have been spd? any ideas.
Thanks

Lisa

Muppet ? sounds like for you then that the best thing is to have one when you go in (as long as you are in labour when you go in) like you said in your birth plan. Certainly not trying to tell you not to have one just though what my friend said might help. You know how things were for you last time and what will help you to cope and if that will you should go for it. If you were too far gone when you got there though have you thought of how you would cope? Because I guess that would happen a second time and helpful for you to go through what you would do if that was the case so you were able to cope. I guess if you were too far at least there probably wouldn?t be long left?.
Loving your style of bribing ds with ?sweets? that are vitamins though!!!!

Inzi ? Sorry wasn?t there to advise last night! Had literally just gone to bed when you posted! Hope rash settled ? if not I would call the hospital this am (presuming it was them who prescribed the antibiotics) for advice. However if you had already had several doses of the antibiotic yesterday it would be unusual to be an allergy.

MrsFish ? great news about babysitter. Sorry you?re feeling crap though. Know what you mean about sometimes just needing to be left alone rather than have some well meaning person trying to make it better!

Chohobnob ? sorry to hear you?ve had another cr*p night. But as to how you cope with visitors its simple ? tell them to help themselves to tea / coffee etc. If they offer to help let them. And if they are being intrusive disappear unstairs and go to bed with your baby leaving dh to field them! We were lucky in that people were pretty understanding I think?

Good luck to all with hospital appts / scans today.

We have had a fun start - about to have brekkie when we get a call from dh who has just filled his car up with petrol only to realise he has left wallet at home! So drive accross town in rush hour to give it to him - not far but took ages...

Must go now - ds is having a strop at me wanting 5 mins to post this (which I started writing before the wallet run! See you later...

Morning all! Sounds like it's been an eventful weekend for a few people.

Hope everything is okay, Inzi. Did they say whether it was your forewaters or your hindwaters that had gone? I know someone whose hindwaters went and I don't think that's such a worry, but am guessing from the fact that they've put you on AB that it must be your waters proper. Does that mean they will induce the baby if labour doesn't start naturally soon?

Lisa - sounds like things are warming up for you too...

I had a fairly crap weekend, just to add to the general moans and groans. I ended up going home on Friday 'cos I didn't feel well and had a temperature of 101° by the time I got there. Baby had been quiet for the previous couple of days so I hied myself off to the antenatal clinic where they did a cardiogram thing. The baby's hb was varying between 150 and 184 bpm, but they said it was okay. That took 45 minutes, then a 4 hour wait (with dh) to be seen by the doctor who said I probably had a UTI and prescribed me some vicious AB's. I haven't been able to eat or drink properly since Thursday lunch, but am feeling much better today, although massively dehydrated still. I think I spent about 3 hours OUT of bed on Saturday!!! Dh had a massive nesting session as well, whilst I was passed out...

Good news is that they did an internal exam as I was apparently having quite regular contractions, but everything is closed up so I think I should have time to recover, finish work and rest up a bit before bubba arrives...

Have added myself back into the stats...

muppetgirl · 10/09/2007 09:38

Alice - I'm not entirely sure of what I would do if I were to be to far far gone to have an epidural!!!!! Apart from panicking! That's something I'm going to have to think about especially as I really don't want gas and air...Not so bad if you're induced I suppose as there is some sense of control whereas in natural labour things can go slowly or extremly fast. Dh met the anaethetist (sorry sp!) from the local hospital by chance last night at teh gym's tennis social and he was picking dh's brains about the financial situation in America atm and what the Bank that dh is contracting for atm thinks so maybe we could pick his brains to...

Also, Mrs Fish having a standby babysitter has made me think a bit too. I have Fridays, Sat + Sun covered. Mon -thur mornings aren't at all, Ollie can be picked up from Nursery by another mum for me. Dh is at least 2 hrs + away. My b/f's mum is nearer at just under an hour. I just hate the not knowing when. I also wish I wasn't such a control freak!!!

muppetgirl · 10/09/2007 09:40

oh btw when my waters broke I heard a pop and it frightened Ollie as he decided to kick like hell. A pop follwed by a sharp pain and the WOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHH the flood came out!

MrsFish · 10/09/2007 09:42

lisa - just before my waters went with ds1 I had a popping sensation from inside, felt like a press stud being unpopped, very weird feeling. Thing is everyone I have ever told have looked at me as if I am going mad

MrsFish · 10/09/2007 09:47

Mumpbump - glad you are feeling better today

Muppetgirl - It does pay to think about these things doesn't it. It is just all so up in the air and could happen anytime, anywhere, its scary. I am just worried about timing, ds1 was so quick from time of water breaking to birth, the thought of it being any quicker is I am also going to go in and ask for an epidural straight away this time, I nearly missed out first time because of how quick everything was going, as it happened I ended up delivering ds only 20 mins after the epidural, so it didn't help an awful lot, but was great during the hour and half of stitching up I had to have done.

FloriaTosca · 10/09/2007 09:53

Good morning
I have to say that I think that all of you who already have children are amazing.. especially those coping on their own..I've got no one but myself and DH to think of (& the dog)and I'm exhausted all the time... emotionally I'm on a see-saw and I feel a physical wreck...when I have the 3 yr old nephew for a few hours I barely have patience at times, so how those of you doing it 24/7 are managing I don't know...you are saints!

Muppet I totally agree with you about the in-laws...especially as you have been through it before and know what you want and what will happen if you don't put your foot down. Surely if you explain it calmly and rationally they will understand?
I'm fortunate in that my ils are not the interferring type and they only live 4 miles away..MY mum is a different kettle of fish; she may live 25 miles away but she as already started driving up on her own "to get used to the motorway" and being a former nursery nurse I know for a fact that I won't get anything right but if it gives her a new focus in life that is fine(since my Dad passed away in March she has been like a lost soul)How DH will cope I don't know...he says if it means he doesn't have to so much that is fine by him too!...we'll just have to wait and see.

Inzi; hope all is ok and that the rash was nothing to worry about. Happy Birthday. Hope the appointment goes ok.

Mrs Fish; sorry you are out of sorts this morning [symathetic emoticon]...isn't it horrible when partners are so reasonable and you don't want to be? It makes you feel so guilty which just adds to the negative feelings you are already harbouring...Mine never rises to the bait...he just tells me I need to do a concert to let the excess emotions out...which infuriates me because he is right...

J20; hope you are feeling better
Les; hope to hear you are ok too soon
Lisa; hope you are ok and resting
Buffy; How are you doing now? I'll text you later and check up on you.
Winnie; hope your appointment goes well today and the placenta has moved for you
Greedy; thanks for trying to make me feel better about the water birth thing

Crickey 9.45 already! Got to go do a "Big" shop this morning...stock up the freezers just "incase". Also want to get myself a birthing/exercise ball and a tens machine (the one I have got isn't suitable for pregnancy).
Hope every one else is having a beautiful day..here in Lancs the sun is shining and the sky is blue, just a bit of a breeze to eep the temperature down..the dog is really going to love his walk later. Have a good day all.

muppetgirl · 10/09/2007 09:55

It's difficult as I was induced so have never experienced the 'okay, it's getting too much now. I think I need to go in.' I'm worried about it all starting and me not knowing what to do. If it gets to much and dh is still enroute do I drive to the hospital? (7 ish mins away) what happens if it's in the morning and no-one can have Ollie? DO I take him with me? Is that allowed?

FloriaTosca · 10/09/2007 10:07

Muppet from what happened to me last time (m/c) I would say that there was no way you could drive yourself..and as for taking ds with you being "allowed" well if there is no choice, there is no choice, you can hardly leave him alone! I would say you take him with you (by taxi or ambulance) and call for someone to come and collect him from the hospital...I'm sure it must have happened more than one before and the nurses will have contingency plans.

Lisa just read your post ...hope all is ok..

muppetgirl · 10/09/2007 10:18

....oh what times we live in.
Ollie is playing 'traffic jams' on the living room carpet. He's lined up his cars in rows and is 'beep, beeping.'

lisad123 · 10/09/2007 10:41

muppet: I took Dd to hospital with me last week as no one to watch her, she was fine and midwifes were fine, but thye were told someone was coming for her. I think you will know when it gets too much for you, hope your ok.

I rang midwife as i didnt know whether to risk not taking my blood thinners again today. Been advised to put on a pad as poppig may be warning sign of waters, ansd to take my blood thinners and hope i dont go into labour till 10pm tonight

Inzi : hope it goes well today

morning everyone!

how is everyone today?

had a crap weekend, saturday had the runs all day (7 times i had to go,so i wasnt too happy!!) and then started being sick.contractions started on saturday night and lasted most of teh night, but they were irregular so wasnt worried about being in labour.(although they were painful)

yesterday, woke up with back ache from hell, was sick, had headache and then contractions started again at 6.30pm!was getting tehm every 10 mins, and it got to the point were i had then in my back,so was ready to ring mw,then decided to go to bed,and they stopped after being in bed a couple of hours!!

im so fed up of being pregnant now and jsut wish my body would make up its mind as to what its actually doing!!

also couldnt stop crying yesterday.poor dh got the blame for everything yesterday and kept saying sorry even though he hadnt done anything!!(guess it was just to make me feel better!!)then he did say something that started me off,he asked me if i still thought of dd's twin that i lost when i was 12 weeks pg,so of course, burst into tears again and couldnt stop after that!!!bloody hormones!!!

is anyone else going through this up and down emotional rollercoaster aswell?(please someone say yes so i know its normal!!)

Oh Buffy.
Im doing the same as you with the contracting, its horribke isnt it I find that getting some sleep helps but when im awake its worse. Im tearful too and fed up. I want her to stay there a little longer but want it over now too . Just wanted to let you know your not alone.

Hugs

Mumpbump · 10/09/2007 10:56

Muppetgirl - ring for an ambulance or at least a tax rather than try to drive yourself in. The idea of having a contraction whilst driving doesn't bear thinking about!! I am similarly worrying like you about how I will know that it is labour as I was also induced. Suspect it will be all too familiar though...

lisad123 · 10/09/2007 10:59

mump and j20, i worry too, as i didnt even relaise I was in labour last time. i went in for monitoring, as i had to everyday, and they said "oh your 2cm"!
I got to 4cm before I felt much to be honest
Im sure we'll be fine

Kittiwake · 10/09/2007 11:13

Hi everyone

Buffy and Lisa that sounds so horrible must be so frustrating not knowing what is happening one way or the other. As this is my first I have no idea whatsoever what a contraction feels like but I guess I will know when the time comes.
