Inzi; you have probably gone to bed so won't see this until tomorrow...just wanted to give you a really ((((BIG HUG)))).... it never rains but it pours at the moment for you, but you are dealing with it all so very well, and I'm glad you came on here and got it off your chest and managed to sound so very positive.
Tell your parents to go for hypnotherapy to help with kicking smoking... a long term smoker friend of ours just had it done 4 weeks ago and doesn't even want to touch a cigarette! He's tried several times before and found it impossible, now he can't believe how easy it is...definately worth the money. Hope you managed to sleep ok and didn't worry too much.

morning all!

ejt yes im in miserable soggy north wales!!cant wait for the sun to find its way back!mind you,its lovely and cool atm so shouldnt moan (apart from the fact that the kids cant play in the garden and are constantly moaning that they are fed up!!)

had physio yesterday.she did some faffing about with my legs (moving them into different positions and asking "does this hurt?" when the look on my face should have said it all...i was in agony!!!)

she showed dh how to do physio on me,i push my knee against his shoulder and he has his hand under my bum pushing up.she said that my pelvis is completely unstable and its not just classic spd.she said its most likely from having damaged my back when i was in a car crash 12 years ago and never had treatment for it (was pg at the time so they couldnt x ray)but she said its liekly that over the years its just got worse and worse.so after lo is born i have to have an x ray to find out the extent of teh damage and in the meantime she'll treat me for teh spd (i have got spd but its the other part shes more worried about).so i now have one of those belts that cut your circulation off,am having dh do my physio and have to spend upto 20 mins a day leaning against a wall or door!

physio has now gone on holiday (as from 5pm last night and my app ran over to 5.30pm!) but she said she'll ring me next week and will see me twice weekly until lo arrives, and tehn the real treatment will start.

sorry to moan on,but am feeling really down and fed up about it all!and since she pushed on my pelvis and flapped my legs here there and everywhere,im now in agony!

oh well, how is everyone else anyway?

j20baby · 15/08/2007 10:57

morning all

Buffy-no wonder you're in pain, 12 years! did you not have an xray after lo was born 12 yrs ago?

i think my pelvis(or whatever it is) has started to open, as i find it hard to walk properly, my back, just above my bum really aches, or it could be from kneeling to do the laminate, also, does anyone else keep getting pins and needles in their hands? i get it in the night, don't know if i'm laid funny.

well i've got rid of dd for the day, so got lots of bits to do, sanding and painting the doors and possibly may start laying the laminate in the hallway, shouldn't take too long will catch up with you all later, going to try and make an effort to sit down and have dinner today, usually forget!

have a nice day all

Hellooo everyone,

Hope you're all as well as can be expected. Please let me know if I've missed anything unmissable - otherwise, after a week away, I'm just going to have to launch back in without trying to catch up.

I'm just back from Italy. Lucca, to be precise. Sorry I left without saying goodbye! Had a lovely holiday - so nice to not even think about work for a whole week. My main worry beforehand had been a soggy bed, but the bed was actually firmer than ours at home and I slept really well, and didn't snore - we're trying to figure out why not. We had a really beautiful apartment, lots of nice food and generally did very little, and enjoyed it. The flat was up 75 stairs, which were a challenge at times, but kept me in shape I guess! One friend we were with was 15 weeks pregnant, and she was having problems getting up the stairs too, which made me feel slightly less useless! I had to sit out going up various towers, but other than that I could keep up with everyone okay. My only complaints were mosquito bites, which have turned into wierd blister-like affairs, and the appearance of swollen ankles for the first time. They're not too bad though, and my hands are fine, so nothing to worry about at this stage at any rate.

Baby's been kicking and squirming like never before . We decided before we went away that when we were back we'd start shopping etc for the baby - exciting! So far have made absolutely no preparations save buying a sling wrap. Also need to shop for me cos my bump is sticking out too far to fit into most of my tops now and the weather here is so shite I think I may need some autumnal clothes before the baby is born. Was hoping to get away with summer stuff, but that's looking more and more like wishful thinking. Ah well.

Looking forward to getting back into the flow of things on here.

Bye for now A x

Hi all ? just back from hydro, and the appointment with the senior midwife (found out today that she?s the manager of the midwife-led unit, but still does a lot of hands on work). We?ve discussed my care, and I now have it written on my notes that I have ?declined the package of care offered in the CLU if baby is cephalic at term? (Madame Bean is definitely breech, but there?s definitely room and time for her to turn) ? I couldn?t check today if I can get into the pool, but she?s suggested that I phone when I?m next at hydro, and I can go up then to check ? felt like whooping and shooting hooray! Now really hurting ? but I don?t have to do a great deal except sort out the buddy list and deliver some Avon books this afternoon ?.

Oh, and the physio at hydro this morning told me to lay off the pelvic floor exercises, as they are aggravating my coccyx! I?ve been doing them religiously every time I brush my teeth (takes my mind of my gag reflex!) ?

Muppetgirl ? I have a similar situation with my MIL ? but I have stopped justifying myself ? if she does the ?oh, so you do that then do you?? (with the superior air and sarcastic tone), I just say ?yes, I do? ? and leave it at that ? she rarely says anything back ? and if she does, I then give her a full and frank explanation of why ? being as detailed as possible ? I?ll give you and example (from when ds was a 6 week old baby) ? and over dinner (!)

MIL: I?m surprised you?re still exclusively bf ? especially with ds?s bowels being so loose.
Me: Yes, I am, and I intend to carry on.
MIL: Why? I have told you before about ds?s bowels being very loose ? have you seen the doctor about it?
Me: No I haven?t, and I don?t need to - as I told you before, breast milk has a laxative effect on a baby, so it is quite normal for him to have bowel motions as loose as they are. I?ve got some information on it if you want ? it?s quite common for a baby to have even more poos than ds does.
MIL: Oh, I see (topic of conversation never mentioned again)

The words were probably a bit different, but you get the gist!

Good luck with your MIL ? mine used to run her finger over the shelves when dh and I first lived together ? she stopped it once I offered her a duster! Doesn?t stop her being manipulative though, unfortunately!

MrsFish - sorry to hear those foods give you heartburn!

LES - I hope you weren?t too hard on ds over the email ? he sounds to have a very mature head on his shoulders ? and his ?father? sounds like he deserves every word and more!

Unicorn - I?ve got a mamas & papas Pulse buggy ? it lies flat, and it folds up nicely into the boot of my Peugeot 206 ? I think it?s fantastic ? I bought it after I had 2 Maclaren Volos break on me - though to be fair they?re not really designed for the amount of use they get when I?m using them. The Pulse is good because it?s lightweight, yet it?s flat enough for a newborn ? my neighbour borrowed it to use with her baby as she didn?t have a lie-flat buggy she could just pop in the car, and she found it great for using with a little one!

J20 ? hope your heartburn has settled down ? I?ve got the heartburn back with a vengeance since Madame turned breech ? some of me wishes she?d go transverse on me again!

It?s quite common to get the start of carpal tunnel syndrome at this stage of pregnancy ? I find that now, in the mornings, I can?t do my buttons up or do anything that needs dexterity, as my fingers are like they don?t belong to me. The physio at hydro just suggests circling your wrists for a couple of minutes, and that should make it a bit better!
And, as for the backache, try putting a hot water bottle on the achy bit ?

Inzi ? big {{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}} and gentle pats to you ? sometimes everything just seems to come at once! Here?s hoping everything turns out ok. My dad had a massive heart attack just after Christmas, and that was enough of a scare to make him stop smoking there and then: he hasn?t touched one since.

Buffy ? really glad you finally got your physio appointment ? I?m the same in that I don?t just have the classic spd either ? and I?ll need further treatment after this lo is born ? keep at it with the exercises ? they make a real difference! Take some painkillers for now, and sit on a hot water bottle / tuck it into your maternity belt ? I find that really helps.

Apricott ? lovely to hear you had a good holiday! I was starting to worry about you!
Do you want a text / email buddy to notify the rest of the piggies when your lo is born? I?m intending to sort it out today or tomorrow ? if you want one, email me at eirian dot thomas at gmail dot com ? let me know:

Your mn name & real name
Your due date
Your location
Your mobile number (I can get your email address from you email to me)
Your preference for an email or text buddy.

Right, this is possibly the longest post from me ever ? I shall go away and play with ds now! (possibly after a nose at the active convos!)

ChocolateHobnob · 15/08/2007 21:38

Hi all

Back from York - was lovely, and managed a nice swim in the hotel pool before a big breakfast! Came back and made choc muffins this afternoon - I'm really in need of sweet stuff at the moment.

J20 - so glad it's okay. Take care of yourself.

Muppet and Buffy - poor you with the SPD. I am lucky in that it hasn't found me (touch wood!).

EJT, Muppet, my mother in law is very similar. When we moved house 2 years ago, I cleaned a room in the old flat, and she promptly went in after me and said she would clean it properly...

Inzi - you've had such bad luck! Least they caught this v early, though.

My bump is getting bigger fast at the moment - I guess baby's having a growth spurt. Maybe that explains the attraction of chocolate. It's funny because for the first part of my pregnancy I couldn't face sweet food...

Hope you're all okay, specially J20!

MrsFish · 15/08/2007 21:44

Hope you are ok tomorrow j20... are you nearly finished with all this DIY because you NEED to start to relax and rest, we only have a few weeks left!

ejt1764 · 15/08/2007 22:46

Hi all,

I've just done the email / text buddy list - they've all been sent - buffy, yours has bounced for some reason, even though I sent it to the address you mailed me on (bizarre!)

I'm going away for a few days - I'm going to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham - and spending 4 whole days there - I'll be sharing a room with my mum (she snores booo), and I've hired an electric scooter thingy. Looking forward to it - it'll be my last jolly without DCs for a while, methinks!

I'll sort out any more problems with the buddly list when I get back: have a nice weekend all!

FloriaTosca · 16/08/2007 00:21

J20 Hope you are ok [concerned emoticon]

EJT; thanks for the buddy system..Have a fab time away.

Apricott & Chochn; Glad you both ad lovely hols

Buffy; sorry to hear about the spd being MORE than spd..I really hope the excersises help...[sympathetic emoticon]

Had the Gtt this morning, not as bad as I expected..except for the mad woman amongst the 8 of us there for the test, who brought in her mohter and her 6 yr old along for the ride and let the child run around the room eating chocolate biscuits...I'm probably being unreasonable, but why didn't she leave her mother with the child downstairs in the waiting room or the restaurant? I could have snatched the candy from the baby after 2 hours of that torment (and from the looks on the others faces I wasn't the only one!)It was actually worst when the hospital had a power cut and being an inside room we were plunged into darkness with the smell of chocolate wafting around us! I get the result tomorrow afternoon but as my fasting result was 6.8 they don't hold out much hope of it being good ...no rare meat, no pate, none of my fave cheeses, no alcohol, no seafood, no liver etc etc.....and now NO CHOCIES/SWEETIES/or ICECREAM!!!!!!![throwing a tantrum emoticon]
Well I've finally heard from Dh, who is "entertaining" his clients..ie eating all the foods I cant have in the house and drinking the hotel bar dry on expenses!...so I'll be off to bed at last. Hope everyone gets a good night.

j20baby · 16/08/2007 01:30

hi all, thanks for your concerns, have had to get up to take some paracetomol, got headache and backache and feel sick, hoping the paracetomol will take at least 2 of these off, still getting uncomfortable but not really painful tightenings, hope i'm not in slow labour!

ft-what a silly woman, bet the other 7 of you would have scrambled to get a choc button if the child had dropped one! poor you, hope the results come back ok.

ejt-got your email thank you hope you have a lovely break, take ear plugs!

i'm going to go back to bed and try and sleep, hope the rest of you are having sweet dreams

WinnieThePooh · 16/08/2007 07:07

Hi all,

J2O - hope you are feeling better today.

EJT - email received. will contact my buddy soon.

I am off for a mumsnet meet up in a local park today, so I hope the rain holds off.

Have a good day everyone.

dal21 · 16/08/2007 07:59

Morning everyone!

First day of maternity leave today! had a lovely last day in the office yesterday - left on a fantastic note. cannot believe my maternity leave is finally here - so much time to do whatever I want! Hoorah!

J20 - i want to physically come over to you and forcably restrain you mrs!! I really hope that you are feeling ok.

Think I am paying a visit to your neck of the woods to visit all the lovely baby shops (think remember you saying you were midst nappy valley, forgive me if I am wrong!). Have been working round the corner for months and now am going to be trekking across london to visit somewhere that I drove to everyday! Doh! If I am right - are the baby shops really nice there??

EJT - thank you so much for sorting the buddy system out! Star! Have a fab break.

Chocolate Hobnob- I had the exact same, sudden growth spurt of bump=sweet tooth when i normally dont have one!

FT - have to agree with you! That is sooo annoying about the kids. I had something similar the other day. Bub had to be monitored for 45 mins and one lady was in with her partner and two kids (the kids were making so much noise) - and you could see everyone thinking why on earth does the DP not take the kids outside to play? It wasnt raining/ cold and there is a park outside the hospital. He eventually took the kids out but only for about 20 mins, I dont really understand it! Fingers and toes on your GTT result. Let us know how you get on!

Have great days everyone, hmmm...to shop or not to shop!
