I had my first midwife app on Friday but I haven't heard anything about my scan yet..... I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and she knew my early scan dates! I hope o get something through soon! I just want to have that scan and feel reassured and see my little baby! This first trimester has felt a lifetime! 💗

NiffleTime · 15/10/2019 20:05

@CharlieB93 How weird! The form to fill in was in my blue folder, and the midwife filled out her bits at my booking appt!

Helensss · 15/10/2019 20:09

@sazzlerazzle oh nice, mine wasn’t so I phoned again 😂 she said if it doesn’t come then not to worry as the appointment is definitely booked, not ideal but not an awful lot I can do! X

Sunshine8888 · 15/10/2019 20:12

@May2311 @Moonstone12 @Shelbustotherescue yay scan buddies! Mine isn’t until 7pm!! Which is good because it’s after work but that will be an anxious day in the office!! I will be having a scan tomorrow as well before the harmony test. Hoping everything is still ok x

sazzlerazzle · 15/10/2019 20:13

Yeah it’s a bit annoying! Mine has a leaflet that explains about the screening and the letter itself is quite thorough about parking arrangements and advises not bringing kids and how much to drink etc so it’s useful to have if you’ve never done this before!

ChloeCA · 15/10/2019 20:20

I’m sorry @Raindancer411 I called the doc for something to help. It’s hard to work full time constantly afraid of vomiting

NiffleTime · 15/10/2019 20:42

So as of just now, I’m 0/3 on keeping meals down today Sad Took a cyclizine 30 mins ago as well. I think I might have to ask for something else as it only seems to make me sleep, not actually make me less sick? I’m 8+6 today and I have stuff to do this week! How is this considered an acceptable part of pregnancy?? I’m angry on behalf of every sickness sufferer ever. Grr. Angry

Helensss · 15/10/2019 20:52

@sazzlerazzle yeah I think it’s annoying too, I’ll just have to get advice on here and google if no letter!

Raindancer411 · 15/10/2019 21:00

@ChloeCA I called and docs need to see me. They haven't any appointments for 3 weeks!! I said I am limited in what I can do and they said to call tmw to be triaged for a call 🙄 What anti sickness tablets are others on?

Bumpingalong84 · 15/10/2019 21:26

Evening ladies. It’s so crazy reading through how everyone has such a different experience depending on location. Where I am, as soon as I referred myself to midwifes which was done online I had a call within two weeks to say my 8wk booking appointment was such a date and scan such a date, then it was followed by a letter with like a ton of leaflets of things from screening to classes run by the hospital.

@kstann I’m a nurse and we still use paper appointments where I am and wouldn’t email confidential information. We use nhs.net to send any information to other hospital we wouldn’t even send it to a hospital email address it has to be an nhs.net one for security so I’m surprised like you.

Pinkslink17 · 15/10/2019 21:59

Hi everyone I'm jumping on this thread if you don't mind! Little intro - currently a SAHM to a 1yo LO, I'm 8 weeks and due on 26th May from calculations. Yet to receive a booking in appointment or any other for of contact after my self referral, and suffering horrendously with sickness! Week 6 was BAD, week 7 was definitely the worst and the last few days I'm still sick, but symptoms are up and down, I seem to get maybe 1-3 hour break from nausea in the late afternoon. Snacking when I can and praying it doesn't last much longer! Still BF my LO so I'm limited to what anti sickness remedies I can have 😩 everything is moving very quickly, conceived in Cycle 1 and I'll have two under 2 with little support around me (realised this whilst I've had my head in a bowl the last 2 weeks and the in laws who are local are reluctant to help) so both terrified but excited!

ChloeCA · 16/10/2019 02:39

Hi @Raindancer411 they put me on Zofran. I’m here in the states.

facevalue · 16/10/2019 05:12

anyone else have a massive sex drive 😳 TMI i know but i'm bloody struggling as zero sex for 6 months now 😭 baby through IVF . hubby just not interested in sex

🥵🤐

Helensss · 16/10/2019 06:45

@facevalue funny you should say that as mine came back last night, I was getting worried as it disappeared for a few weeks 😂 I think your husband should be giving you what you want! Xx

facevalue · 16/10/2019 06:50

@helensss haha good on you guys. don't stop the act. it really is such an energy boost and gives u happy hormones.

as for my husband it's a struggle and hope one day things will improve or i'll just join the massive % if divorced single mums who are still happy and able to raise healthy kids. maybe one day i will find another partner who shares that physical part 😂 until then i'll just moan about it to the lovely strangers on mumsnet as obviously i can't tell any friends or family - suffer in silence x

sazzlerazzle · 16/10/2019 07:40

@facevalue that sounds really tough :( have you ever spoken to him directly about it? Is there an underlying issue he hasn’t mentioned perhaps?

facevalue · 16/10/2019 07:56

@sazzlerazzle yeah he knows. we attended counselling and even before that i told him. he says it has put him off because i was blunt and criticising and as a man his pride is hurt or something 🙄. well i'm not how many years i was meant to keep pretending so would there ever be a " nice" way to talk about this topic?! he didn't seem to understand the hints, flirty texts, outfits, saying i lik this or that in bed 🙄 .... seriously how else do u nicely say it? if u don't just say it.

i even said if u don't feel love or attraction i'm cool with that if u just say then i'm happy to move on ☺️ i have no body image issues and i know i'm not a model. i'm the same if not lighter than when we got together 6 years ago! i am opinionated and yes i do speak up if i don't like something so i guess that's not attractive for the quiet men! but it's not a change i'm exactly as i was...

anyway no idea what's going to happen but if anyone is in an unhappy relationship it is ok to share i think , what's the point otherwise

Helensss · 16/10/2019 08:03

@facevalue that does seem really tough, us women need love and attention, it’s totally natural for you to address it and he should listen. I hope you are ok, offload whenever you need! ❤️

facevalue · 16/10/2019 08:09

thanks ladies. he's a good guy and loves me he's just always had low sex drive he says and it's not about what i wear etc ... he's just happy with occasional sex! i'm really the problem 😬

Sunshine8888 · 16/10/2019 08:14

@facevalue that’s really tough. I’ve been with my DH for over 9.5 years now and we went through a bad patch with sex: in short, I had some cervical issues and treatment and it really affected me. Sex became rare and not enjoyable. Anyway after years are suffering with this, we nearly ended up divorced. It was only then that I realised I needed to do something about if I wanted to make our marriage work. The mental shift seemed to work. Things have been so much better since (apart from the first trimester where we’ve only done it once due to the bleeding) - I just wish it hadn’t taken such drastic action (real threat of divorce) to make me realise the effect my behaviour was having on both of us. X

facevalue · 16/10/2019 08:22

@sunshine8888 i'm so touched you felt kind enough to share your experience i know many don't because of the usual attitudes towards sex and admitting problems. i'm so glad you worked out and you are both in a happy place. i guess your reason was valid - pain is not nice so not surprised u didn't want it. my husband just really not that sexual according him and he's not in the closet - not gay so that's not even it! sadly i did ask the question . i think ppl with high sex drive can't imagine anyone not wanting it. ppl with low sex drive think what's the fuss is all about 🥺 it's this mismatch that destroys us x

Sunshine8888 · 16/10/2019 08:30

@facevalue it is really difficult when one person has a much higher sex drive than the other. My DH has a much higher one than me but I honestly think I was also affected by birth control. Once I started having sex more frequently I started to enjoy it a lot more and think about it, that would naturally then lead to more sex. Yes I did have pain at first but I think it because more mental than physical in the end. The thing is you can’t be blamed for wanting to look elsewhere if you aren’t getting what you need at home (speaking generally). Without sex you’re just best friends really, you need that intimacy to differentiate. Could you set yourself a goal? Starting with once a week? Something you can work together towards? X

Bumpingalong84 · 16/10/2019 08:42

Morning @facevalue it’s so brave of you to speak up. It’s so common I think but like you say so many people don’t talk about it. I have two close friends who have struggled with their partners/husbands. One ended up splitting up the other have two kids now but that was such a struggle for her and they are trying to work through it.

Marriage can be tough and sex is a huge part of it.

May2311 · 16/10/2019 10:58

Hi all, I’m 11+4 today. I thought I was over the sickness/nausea for about a week but today I have woken up feeling bad again! I’m trying to do more than just work and come home and lie about!! Contemplating forcing myself to go to the gym or do a swim- has anyone else been exercising whilst feeling so crap? Did it help or make it worse? Thanks. Xxx

facevalue · 16/10/2019 13:26

i had my first midwife appoitment today- she spent 2 hours with me chatting and explaining and took my bloods to test things. Absolutely lovely midwife i recognised her from my last pregnancy. i did not feel rushed and she was happy with all my silly questions. did my exemption form. it feels real now 😍👍🏼 all good x
