A shiny new thread for our May mum's.

A big thank you to @Shak19 for setting up the original thread, you started this group and we are all so grateful for that.

Here we go, month three in the pregnancy journey 👣

@mrsf1204 I'm not an expert, but our cooking often uses lemongrass, and we try to eat less or avoid it. As long as you don't eat too much, or consume everyday, it should be fine.

facevalue · 09/10/2019 08:30

@zoemelb awww lovely news about the scan and definitely agree about the yogurt .. i eat cheese and bread every few hours i'm on primula .. i usually love banana but i've got completely off it and now I love melon/ mango/ apples / pineapples 😳

GinUnicorn · 09/10/2019 08:42

@woollycat I’m going to the doctors next week. The morning sickness this time is killing me. I feel like a wuss but with working and looking after my toddler I need to have ten minutes a day not feeling sick. I’m even waking up at 2am feeling sick.

zoemelb · 09/10/2019 08:45

@Sunshine8888 thanks hopefully your scan will go well tomorrow too.
@facevalue thanks. It was lovely to the see the little bean heartbeat and wiggling around.
@november90 : I have yellow discharge (sorry TMI), asked the midwife, she said it's normal. I may ask the local midwife next time seeing her.
The scan shows I have two fibroids in the uterus (my scan at week 6 was 1cm, but now they have grow to 3cm). The sonographer said it's ok, no harm to the baby, and it's common for the fibroids to grow larger during pregnancy. She noticed down and told me to check again at the 12 weeks scan with the midwife. I'm a bit worried but not sure if anything can be done.

Helensss · 09/10/2019 09:30

good luck for all scans today 😊

Anyone else feeling really frumpy? I feel like I’ve put on weight but maybe just water retention, just feel much more wobbly than usual! Xx

Caspianberg · 09/10/2019 10:21

Second scan this Morning went well. Due date potentially moved from 2nd May to 30 April, so will see.

They said about tests between now and 13 weeks similar to the harmony test. Im not sure whether to book or now. Has any one else done this?

Doodlebug321 · 09/10/2019 10:24

9 weeks & 🤮🤢🤮
My throat feels raw from vomiting. I feel so disgusting.

Under a blanket feeling a bit sorry for myself today.

november90 · 09/10/2019 10:36

So I was just driving my car and someone went into the back of me at the roundabout with such a force they shoved me into the other lane! Airbag didn't come on but obviously felt so shaky. Pregnancy wise should I get checked out 😩

facevalue · 09/10/2019 10:50

@november90 omg. are you ok? they say the foetus is fully cushioned at this stage so if you are ok then fingers crossed everything should be ok. if you are worried get an appointment with your GP or call the midwife

you must be is such shock. i'm so sorry x hugs

facevalue · 09/10/2019 10:52

@Doodlebug321 oh u poor thing . i'm feeling a little better today but what u r saying makes me think it might just one good day x

Moonstone12 · 09/10/2019 10:52

@november90 baby should be absolutely fine but I'd give the midwife a call and have a chat with her about it.

It was mentioned to me at my booking appointment that if I had a bump ie a car crash or fall to call because I'm a negative blood group and may need an anti D injection.

Hope you are ok and bit too shaken up xx

Moonstone12 · 09/10/2019 10:52

#not too shaken up!

facevalue · 09/10/2019 10:53

@Caspianberg awww it's lovely to see baby. have you decided about tests?

Caspianberg · 09/10/2019 11:02

@facevalue - no i haven't decided fully yet. Need to call by friday if so. I am swaying towards not having it done

november90 · 09/10/2019 11:05

Thank you ladies! It was so frightening. It's actually crazy because I was about 9 weeks pregnant with my son and the exact same thing happened -and now I'm 9 weeks pregnant too! I went to a and e and they sort of frowned at me turning up there 😬
I haven't had my midewife app yet so I don't know who to contact just in case 😩 URGH how stressful

facevalue · 09/10/2019 11:14

@Caspianberg you know .. i had tests in my first pregnancy ... im not sure if i will do this time😔 i don't think i can abort a baby even if it's abnormal. but my husband thinks we should test then decide after. i have a sister who felt strongly about aborting if any abnormal screening and another sister who said she would never abort a baby whatever it is so did no tests... i think it's good to know just to read the books and prepare even if don't abort... it's a dilemma that i'm blocking at the moment 🤐

Caspianberg · 09/10/2019 11:45

@facevalue - yes its my dilemma. We have good friends who have a child with down syndrome, and they had the tests which showed up clear anyway, then he was diagnosed after birth. So I kind of think if anything showed up we would probably panic more but not actually do anything, and if nothing showed up then it could easily just not be detected anyway.
It also seems you don't get a definite yes or no answer on anything, just a ratio ie 1:5 chance, or 1:10,000 or anthing in between.

Doodlebug321 · 09/10/2019 12:18

Te: testing. The blood &nf with other bits & Bob's is completely non-invasive, but will only give a risk factor of trisomy issues. You can be super high risk and have a healthy child or really low risk and have an affected child. Amnio / CVS are offered as further diagnostic procedures for those with highest risk, but have approx 1-2% risk of miscarriage. There are now more and more blood tests available before going down the amnio/Cvs pathway, likethe harmony test, but they're still not 100% conclusive & amnio/cvs is still offered.

If you figure it wouldn't impact your decision to continue with the pregnancy, unless you want to know your risk factor to better prepare yourself, then you have to ask whether there's any point :)

mrsf1204 · 09/10/2019 12:40

Anyone else's sickness coming and going? Second day of feeling Okish compared to last week where I felt horrendous - not sure whether to worry or not? Sounds ridiculous that I want to be sick!

facevalue · 09/10/2019 12:46

@mrsf1204 yep i felt ok ish yesterday and this morning .. don't worry i think baby just giving us a break

Doodlebug321 · 09/10/2019 13:05

All to do with the waves of hormones...just as your body begins to tolerate the current load...have some more 🤣 All good, if a little unpleasant!

Clairesoph · 09/10/2019 13:53

Sickness not so bad today but defo got my rage head on. Anything and everything is annoying me today and I cant blame lack of sleep cos I slept from 8.30 to 6am hahaha! Hormones!!!!! As for tests, I will have them. I had them before and got a very high risk downs result which pushed me to have an amnio done. Hideous procedure, really uncomfortable but the results are like 99% accurate. Im just somebody who needs things in black and white so I would always opt to have the tests done personally but everybody is completely different x

Raindancer411 · 09/10/2019 14:04

Anyone else feeling light headed? I managed to eat a happy meal but still finding a drink to drink without feeling sick is hard

ChampooPapi · 09/10/2019 14:04

@facevalue oh goodness don't even try and potty train now while in this trimester bad times. It'll be an up hill battle with little success so definitely don't worry, the little one is over just over 2, when your feeling better in a month or so just session the potty training and it'll click so fast. One week they are in nappies, the next they are using the toilet, it's amazing but definitely needs to be main focus/obsession. X mas holidays would be a good time, I use those toilet seats where there is an extra seat for a small bottom, they seem better then a potty post 2 years. You'll get militant in a couple of months when this current baby is looming, trust me 💪
