Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

Adding on here even though u didn’t type much on last thread. I’m 8+6 today. Booking in appointment is 10th September for me. I’m getting nervous about going back to work. I’m a teacher so had the summer off. Not sure how it’s going to go with sickness and tiredness hopefully should be ok. Not sure when to tell my head either. It’s an ivf pregnancy so he knew about that so maybe should just say when I’m back? 12 week scan hopefully should be somewhere at end of September.

hopeandpray1988 · 30/08/2019 10:40

Morning ladies.. just wanted a bit of advice.
I had my booking in appointment on Wednesday and I've received my scan date through. They think I'll be around 12 weeks on the day of the scan but I know when I ovulated so think I'll be around 11. Do you think this is too early for my scan or should I just go and see what they say and what dates I'm given? I'm going to have to take time off work to go and if I have to go back for another scan I don't want to keep taking time from work 😕

Ruthsoph · 30/08/2019 10:51

@hopeandpray1988 i would call thmn and explain the situation and see what they say - i wouldnt of htought it would matter going at 11 weeks but ask and i will put your mind at rest xx

Sunshine8888 · 30/08/2019 10:51

@hopeandpray1988 how did the booking app go? What do they do exactly at this app? Mine is not until mid September! I think I’ll have the same issue as you, I’m 6+1 but actually think I’m a week or maybe even two weeks behind that 😬 but I think this is quite normal ... I would probably go to the 12 week scan and go back again if you need to! I know it’s tricky with work but it would be worth it for me to take the time off twice and have the reassurance of two scans I think rather than wait longer for the 12 week one!

LokiCat · 30/08/2019 10:55

Morning all! Got my booking in appointment in about an hour. Weirdly excited even though I know it won't consist of much.
How are you all doing?

@Sunshine8888 ah sorry to hear you had another scare! The fact that you have no pain with the spotting is normal.
Definitely visit the EPU for some reassurance. It's the best place to get answers. Google searching can be so daunting sometimes!

@selm2701 welcome and congratulations! Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time re morning sickness. I really hope it eases up for you soon!

@Whatelsecouldibecalled could you wait till after the 12 week scan to let the head know? Or would you rather they know straight away? I guess it's useful if they already know that way if you're feeling sick/need time off for appointments they can understand why.

@hopeandpray1988 hey! How was your booking in appointment?
I was just reading up the leaflet provided to me with my scan letter and it mentions that dating scans are generally offered between 8 weeks - 14 weeks and that most screening tests are completed between 10 weeks - 14 weeks, so I think you should be fine.
If you are worried, then maybe call up and say you can't make the date at 11 weeks and book the following week instead?

selm2701 · 30/08/2019 10:56

@hopeandpray1988 my understanding is that this first scan is done between 8 & 14 weeks, so 11 weeks should be fine.

Ruthsoph · 30/08/2019 11:39

has anyone been getting thrush type symptoms?
so glad its friday as i can breath out properly over the weekend lol xx

hopeandpray1988 · 30/08/2019 11:46

Thanks for the advice ladies. I think I'll go to it and see what they say. I guess another scan later isn't the worst thing if it means we get to see the little one again.

Booking in appointment was fine. Lots of questions about your medical history, as well as your partner/husband. They also ask about immediate family history (parents and siblings) all of the questions are on the screen and the midwife just reads them all out and you answer yes or no.

You have to have urine test, they take about 5 tubes of blood and check your height and weight for your bmi. Also check your blood pressure. Mine was low but said that's nothing to be concerned by, just to be careful when getting up in case I go dizzy. Said she'll ring if my blood or urine results come back with anything they're concerned by.

They provide you with loads of booklets about birth, classes etc too.

Ask questions about which type of scan you want.. just a dating scan or the one where they can check for the high or low risk of Down's syndrome etc. Also whether you want to know the sex of the baby at the 20 week scan.

I was there about an hour. Hope that's helped guys xx

Sussexbythesea84 · 30/08/2019 12:15

Hi everyone! I wondered where this group went 😂

I’ve tested again because I’m getting a bit nervous as I’ve got stomach cramps. I used a wilko dip test, so crap aren’t they.

Ruthsoph · 30/08/2019 15:17

Feel like i have gone downhill over the past hour and the sickness has kicked in - havnt been sick but that constant feeling - any good remedies i can take, and i feel so so tired its unreal and still have 2 hours at work x

PrincessConsuela12 · 30/08/2019 16:00

@LokiCat How did your booking in appointment go? X

Harper33 · 30/08/2019 16:10

Hi everyone just wanted to join! I’ve currently got an EDD of 26th April! Although I’m expecting that to move to a bit earlier as it did with my first pregnancy. Also, I’m a midwife and still feel like what the hell is happening at the point and am I the only one feeling like this?!?

Sussexbythesea84 · 30/08/2019 17:29

Anyone else super bloated and look 6 months pregnant already?

I also need all the rennie and gaviscon available haha

ellarosee · 30/08/2019 17:29

Hi everyone,

Welcome & congratulations to all the newbies!

I'm finding it hard to keep up with this group it moves so quickly!

@hopeandpray1988 thank you for all the info on the booking appt, I've got mine next week so that was really helpful! I hope yours went well today too @LokiCat 😊

I haven't had any thrush symptoms @Ruthsoph but I've read they can be common throughout pregnancy.

@Sussexbythesea84 I keep testing with cheap eBay ones everyday too.. I can't stop myself I'm just so paranoid! I also noticed a tiny bit of pale brown discharge this afternoon which has terrified me, no matter how many times I read it's normal and not to worry it isn't helping, just going to have to try and remain positive! And keep testing 🙈

Sorry to all that I've missed and have a fab weekend everyone 😊

LokiCat · 30/08/2019 17:34

@PrincessConsuela12 booking in appointment was good! Felt so surreal talking about my pregnancy and even thinking about the birth etc!
They checked my blood pressure, height and weight, then took a blood sample and urine sample. She went through mine and DH's medical history, and the same for our immediate family. After all the questions she told me that I'm low risk (unless anything changes during the pregnancy).
The midwife was great as was the student midwife who was asking me all the questions. They reassured me a lot and I feel a lot better about things now.
Made my follow up appointment for 16 weeks, as well.

One thing which is great is that they use electronic notes; everything gets uploaded to a system which I can access through an app so I don't have to worry about bringing along my maternity notes. Also she said she'd give me a ring if anything came up in my blood results, otherwise I'll have access to them on the app anyway!

Just the countdown to the 12 week scan now!

Hope you've all had a good Friday, I'm so happy it's the weekend!

Thank you for all the info about the booking app @hopeandpray1988 and @LokiCat - I’m looking forward to mine.

@ellarosee and @Sussexbythesea84 I swear I have a bump already!! I can feel it and see it when I stand to the side and look in the mirror. I just tried a dress on for a wedding I’m going to and it felt rather tight 😬 it’s going to be an uncomfortable 12 hours I fear pretending to drink and feeling squashed into my dress 🙈 Also I’ve just read the menu and it’s fillet of beef. I hope it’s not too pink or I won’t be able to eat it !

I have also been getting brown discharge - it’s terrifying isn’t it! Just don’t google! I keep trying to tell myself if I’m not getting horrible cramps with it and it’s not soaking through a liner then it’s ok! I am getting some cramps every now and again but hoping that’s due to everything stretching and making room!

I am really suffering with backache though. Is anyone else feeling this??

ellarosee · 30/08/2019 18:03

Great news @LokiCat I can't wait for mine now!!

Thanks so much for the reassurance @Sunshine8888 I feel a bit better now, I'd been having some cramps this afternoon so really started to worry. I also keep going to the bathroom just to wipe and check there's no red blood, google can really make you panic can't it. So far I haven't had anymore brown discharge and I hope that's the end of it 🤞🏻

I have had odd spells of backache but nothing severe or for long periods of time. I'd take it as a good sign though as it's a common symptom 😊

PrincessConsuela12 · 30/08/2019 20:06

@LokiCat Glad you're feeling better about things 😊 it makes me so excited for mine! If all goes well on Monday then I'll try and book mine.

Do you know when your 12 week scan will be? X

brummiemumm · 31/08/2019 09:32

Only just realised why I couldn't reply on the original post Blush

LokiCat · 31/08/2019 10:44

Morning all!

@Sunshine8888 I felt like that when trying to find clothes to wear when I went out last night. I think it's all the pasta I've eaten causing me to be bloated 🙈
Hope all goes okay at the wedding and you're able to eat something!
I've been getting cramping as well, I think it is everything stretching. Hope the spotting has stopped!

@ellarosee i'm glad your brown discharge has stopped. That's exactly what I had last weekend, but the midwife wasn't too concerned when I mentioned it to her yesterday, especially because it had stopped.
Hope all goes well at your appointment next week Grin

@PrincessConsuela12 I hope you have a great scan on Monday!
My 12 week scan is on October 16th (I'll be 12+5). It was originally on the 9th but I was away. Just counting down the days to that now! Will most likely book an early scan for mid September because I don't think I can wait till October 🙈
