Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

Morning ladies!

@LokiCat thanks for starting up the new group! For some reason I don't get notifications for tags which is really annoying, so I've just found you all now ☺️ Brown spotting is just old blood isn't it? I've heard that's nothing to worry about though I can see why it stressed you out. Glad to hear it's stopped now. Yeah I've heard the booking appt can last as long as 2 hours! My DH is coming along but only because we're lucky that he gets to work from home so he can get away with it without anyone even knowing he's there. I'm sure he'll be very bored though! I really hope the time flies by too it's dragging so much. I thought a letter would come through for my 12 week scan after my booking appt, when did you receive yours? Have you already registered with the midwives, this will be my first appt with a midwife?

Wishing you lots of luck @2ndtimelucky90 🤞🏻

I'm a little bit confused about early scan dates, hoping someone will be able to help. The date I plan on booking a scan I will be 8 weeks (calculated from last period) but only 6 weeks calculated by ovulation. Does anybody know which date they count it as because I've read they calculate it differently to the docs/midwives and that's why there's quite often a lot of confusion about the dates at these early scans? X

CassandrasCastle · 29/08/2019 09:17

@PurpleViolin Thanks. I have really great friends, quite a few whom I've told now - a lot of them are scattered around the country, but I know that I can call them whenever I need to.

Also, I literally just messaged my Mum and she has agreed to a call at lunchtime I'm so nervous about it. My bf's mother is also supportive which is nice - but it's not the same as being able to talk to my family

CassandrasCastle · 29/08/2019 09:19

I'm also confused about dates - I mean, I'm 7 weeks going by date of last period...but am I REALLY 7 weeks pregnant? (So so clueless) Is the baby a blueberry or just a pea..?

PrincessConsuela12 · 29/08/2019 09:26

@LokiCat Thank you, bloods are all done. I felt a little bleugh after this one even though I've had sooo many in the last year 🤷🏽‍♀️ got to ring up this afternoon for the results.

How exciting to have you booking in appointment tomorrow!! I bet it'll make it all seem more real. How many weeks will you be? Did you have to call the doctors to make an appointment? X

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 09:38

I just sorted my booking app, they don’t do them here before 8 weeks so I have to wait until 16 September! This is not helping my nerves!

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 09:39

🤞🏻 for good results @PrincessConsuela12 keep us updated x

ChickenNugget86 · 29/08/2019 09:47

Hi everyone,

I found out I was pregnant last week and from going off my first day of period starting it makes my due date 29th April.

Still very early days and I'm trying to take it all in. Me and DH TTC for 3 months so was quite surprised as I had a feeling it would take a while.

It's our first child so we are still in a bubble right now. I'm around 5 weeks and starting to feel so sick already eeek.

I've booked in to have my first midwife appointment but it's not for another few weeks. I don't know why but I thought I'd see someone a bit sooner? My the time I have the appointment I'll be around 9 weeks is this a normal waiting time?

I don't want to sound negative but I'm trying not to build my hopes up incase something goes wrong. I have general anxiety disorder which really sucks at times.

Looking forward to talking to some people on here as I don't have many decent girl mates

Katie1109 · 29/08/2019 09:55

Hi all,
I had my BFP last Sunday and Monday. Going by my last period due date is around 25th of April. No symptoms at all here other than maybe slight darker areolas, no sore boobs and a bit of brownish spotting from time to time. I have booked my first appointment next week, when I'm going to be 6+5 according to my calculations. Can't get too excited yet, no symptoms at all so probably will test tomorrow morning to see if it's still there x I don't really know what to expect, should I try to get an early scan? How do I go about it?

BananaRaces · 29/08/2019 10:26

Hi ladies,
Can I join? I think I'm 7+1 and baby #2 is due on about the 15th of April.

I had severe-onset Pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome first time round which resulted in DD being an EMCS at 34 weeks. We're really hoping for a more straightforward pregnancy this time!

However my nausea has kicked off much earlier this time (had it from about 7-13 weeks with DD), it actually started before I even got my BFP, which is now making me worry that maybe it's twins or something! Eek! Someone talk me down? Blush

@ChickenNugget86 I haven't even had a call from the midwife to organise my first appointment yet and I'm over 7 weeks. I think it's usually around 8 weeks but I probably won't have mine until I'm 9 weeks either.

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 10:34

@ChickenNugget86 I will be 8.5 weeks by the time I see the midwife! In my area they make apps later incase of miscarriage before then ☹️ don’t worry, I am totally with you with the anxiety. I keep wanting to take tests to check I’m still pregnant. I do have some mild symptoms but nothing too bad and no nausea! I don’t want the nausea but so want everything to be ok!

PrincessConsuela12 · 29/08/2019 10:36

@Sunshine8888 Thank you. My morning is dragging!!

ChickenNugget86 · 29/08/2019 10:43

Thanks :) I just had it in my head that it would be sooner. I had to ring this number leave my name, address and phone number and to be fair they rang me the next day to arrange an appointment.

I think once I've had the appointment I'll feel better. I've also been offered an early bird group session for an evening next week just waiting to see what day it is.

I go back to work next week after having the summer holidays off (I'm a support assistant) and already got visions of me doing the register to a new class of children and throwing up on them haha. I haven't told ANYONE I'm pregnant, of course DH knows but feel I might mention it to my manager soon as I feel I'm going to struggle in my job.

Mad at this stage how your mind bounces from one thing to the other - baby names, scan, going back to work, who to tell, how to announce it, looking at bedroom colour schemes, cots.... My mind is racing then it hits me that things can go wrong and I go from being excited to an emotional wreck.....

EmilyJ1234 · 29/08/2019 10:49

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I'm just over 5 weeks got my BFP almost 2 weeks ago and first midwife appointment is booked at 8 weeks. EDD is 29 April.

It's taken a lot to get us to this point, we've been trying for over 2 years and ended up having an infertility diagnosis and eventually taking clomid. We've conceived on what would have been the last cycle of clomid.

I'm so full of anxiety I won't let myself get excited at all yet! We go away in 10 days and have booked a (very) early scan for this weekend just to put my mind at ease. Even though I know we won't be able to see much on the scan at this point!

Anyone else had an early scan at 6 weeks? Xx

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 10:58

I don’t think I will book an early scan. My friend had one at 8 weeks and everything was fine but she later lost the baby just before her 12 week scan ☹️ It sounds awful but I’m not sure I’d find it that reassuring knowing something could still go wrong and feel like it would make it even harder to cope if it did 😭 I am an extremely anxious person though so I know others would feel differently xx

PurpleViolin · 29/08/2019 11:01

@EmilyJ1234 yes could see things developing but be aware may not see heartbeat as so early

Amelialolz · 29/08/2019 11:07

@LokiCat thanks so much for the recommendation. I had a look at Groupon and ended up finding an early scan clinic super close to my house in north London. Plus the honey voucher app gave me another 30% off meaning the early scan is only costing me £27 instead of the £79 - £150 I thought I was going to have to pay. Very nice to have that peace of mind that not only do I not have to pay through the roof but I can get the scan I want close to home.

Coming up to 6 weeks this week and I'm just waiting for my midwife appointment now. Excited to be on this journey will all of you.

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 11:39

Is anyone else getting sharp pains in their boobs as well as them being tender? It’s very distracting! I’ve noticed my bras are starting to get a bit small as well 🙈 and, the thing I’m most surprised about, a little tiny bump is already forming! I didn’t expect to see anything so quickly

Harriettenightingale · 29/08/2019 11:48

Thank you for the new thread @LokiCat!

I think all being well I am going to book a private early scan wherever I can get in on 20 Sept as both DP and I can be free that day. I'll hopefully be 8 + 3 then. Don't want to tempt fate now by booking it.

PurpleViolin · 29/08/2019 12:39

My friend said OMG your boobs look massive today. Blush

Ruthsoph · 29/08/2019 13:00

@Sunshine8888 no you wouldnt necessary know that you mis carried at 6 weeks - everyone is different but i mis carried at 6 weeks but didnt know until day of 12 week scan as i woke up bleading xx

Ruthsoph · 29/08/2019 13:02

@LokiCat we were in the November 2019 forum - i mis carried in March so hopefully April 2020 is lucky for both of us xx

Sunshine8888 · 29/08/2019 13:03

@Ruthsoph oh that’s awful, I’m so sorry for your loss 💕 your answer is what I was afraid of 😣

CodlingMoth · 29/08/2019 13:04

Sorry I've been AWOL. Tired, sickness and coping with work has been all I could cope with.

Had an early scan yesterday and have a live, strong baby in there! My due date was brought forward from the 4th of April to the 1st as well.

@Sorbfsiabs it's great to have you back 😁

Ruthsoph · 29/08/2019 13:12

@sunshine8888 thank you - as i said everyone is different - this should be such a happy time but its tarnished by worry :>( xx
