Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

@Pip231018

Oh no poor you! But glad you’ve been seen and have treatment. Hope the antibiotics work quick and don’t make you feel too poorly themselves xx

Louxo · 20/01/2020 13:21

There has been some chat about what to buy for baby arriving. I am planning to breast feed but quite a few people have highly recommended the Tommee Tippee prep machine if going to bottle feed. Obviously breast feeding may not work out... Not sure whether to get this prep machine or not incase. Anyone any suggestions?

Serendipity001 · 20/01/2020 15:42

Hi @Louxo

I am also planning to breastfeed but I have bought the tommee tippee prep machine in case I need to bottle feed. We bought the day&night one. I had a lot of friends that had babies last year and saw first hand how useful it was. It's basically like an espresso maker but for milk bottles - I think it just saves time esp in the middle of the night when you are tired but it's obviously more of a luxury rather than a necessity!

@pip231018 poor you - I hope it clears up fast!

How is everyone else feeling this week? I think a few had their GD test already - mine is this week!

I have around 77 days to go! How crazy is that! It has really flown! I plan on getting my hospital bag ready in the next week or so 😱

X

CateyA · 20/01/2020 17:34

@Louxo
I’m planning exactly the same. I want to breast feed but am keen to introduce a bit of formula to help keep things flexible.

My friend highly recommend the tommee tippee perfect prep and is selling here to me.

Hope everyone’s doing ok. Has anyone booked a 4D scan? I’ve been advised around 28 weeks is the best time to have one.

Serendipity001 · 22/01/2020 09:09

Hi @Sunshine8888

Yes I read that 28 weeks is the best time too. Hubby wanted a 4D scan so we're having ours on Friday! I'm excited to see the baby though as the last scan I had was 20 weeks one over 2 months ago!!

I had my GD testing earlier this week just waiting to hear back with results now!

Pip231018 · 22/01/2020 21:05

Hey,

Hope everyone is ok.

I had my 28 weeks appointment today. It went ok, the consultant and midwife were nice. They did my measurements and she is growing as normal, I have a growth scan next Wednesday which I'm looking forward to see if she's on the big side (curse diabetes).
Then I had to see the diabetes consultant, so I was there for 3 hours. The diabetes consultant was a bit quick to try and put me on medication as I'd had 2 readings out of range but on the day where I started taking antibiotics. I did push back though and say I thought it was premature. She told me I had one week to 'get it under control' - I was a bit surprised as I've only been doing my bloods for 5 days have had shingles.

Either way, as soon as I left and ate, my bloods were back to normal because I'm more active than I have been over the past few days where I've been moping on the sofa with a bad eye.

Does anybodies baby go quite lazy? Mine seems to squirm a lot and then it's just radio silence for a few days. She's MIA right now, where as usually Love Island is her time to shine! X

Bookworm83 · 23/01/2020 20:04

Hi all,

I had my GD test done a couple of days ago, and found out today that I'm all good, which is a huge relief as I was very much prepared for bad news (history of diabetes in my family, plus my BMI).

I'm 30 weeks so things are starting to get very real! I'm meeting with my doula this weekend, has anyone else got one? This is only our second meeting so not sure what to expect other than we will go over my birth plan. Would love to hear about others' experiences with doulas!

@Pip231018 I only found out the other day that babies only spend about 10% of their time awake, and most of the time when we feel kicks it's just them moving on their sleep. Maybe yours is a particularly calm sleeper 🙂

CateyA · 23/01/2020 21:04

@Pip231018

I was just wondering the exact same. My baby’s usually pretty active in the evening after dinner but on Tuesday after my gd tests he was really quiet and I got worried. He was managing 10 kicks in 20 minutes after I had some sweets and cold drink but usually it takes him about 5 min.

I read some horror stories on Tommy’s website and freaked myself out.

I’m 27+2 weeks at the mo so not sure when I should expect him to get into a routine... or how worried to get if like you say his routine changes.

I’m going to ask my community midwife next week and will update here what she says but any ideas vwelcome☺️

Leag1 · 28/01/2020 09:14

Less than 10 weeks to go for me, nerves are kicking in. Hope everyone doing well

lannacorrea · 28/01/2020 09:35

@Leag1 For me too!! It's starting to feel like it's dragging a bit too. Many mixed feelings! 😅

Sunshine8888 · 28/01/2020 10:05

Oh wow @Leag1 and @lannacorrea that is getting close! You are both 4 weeks ahead of me which makes a huge difference!

Serendipity001 · 28/01/2020 11:02

@lannacorrea @Leag1

10 weeks for me too! It seems so close but also seems far away and the exhaustion has started kicking in 😩

CateyA · 29/01/2020 08:31

The tommee tippee perfect prep machine is on offer in Asda sale with at £60 just incase anyone’s planning on getting one xx

Louxo · 29/01/2020 12:06

Thanks @CateyA I'm still debating about getting one. As would be hoping to breastfeed and then express milk for bottle feeding.
What about breast pumps? I see the tommee tippee manual pump is reduced in asda but didn't see great reviews of it online. The Haaka looks quite good. What does anyone think about just getting it? Have seen really good reviews about it.

CateyA · 29/01/2020 13:01

@Louko

I’ve bought the medala double pump from Argos on amazon

It was one of the best rated in which magazine (which you can get a month £1 membership too which I used to help me research everything!)

I was planning to buy a single but the double was cheaper than the single when I last checked oddly!
Xx

CateyA · 29/01/2020 13:04

Apologies I mean the Argos store on eBay.

Pip231018 · 29/01/2020 15:54

Hi All,

Totally unrelated to previous posts, sorry. Has anyone had any problems or experience with amniotic fluid?

I've had my scan today and I don't have as much as expected or that they would like. I've got another scan next week which hopefully doesn't show a decrease. I have to drink as much water as I can and lie on my side every day for 2 hours every day, hoping that this can boost my fluid.

I've read loads of google and found some really really old Mumsnet threads, it's not all doom and gloom but I'd rather not be in this situation as there are associated risks. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

Thanks. X

CateyA · 31/01/2020 15:13

@Pip231018 sorry I’ve never experienced that. How are you feeling? Hope your next scan shows things have stayed constant or got better. I’m glad it’s not all doom and gloom but I understand feeling worried

I’m also having lots of scan but that’s cos my little bean is measuring big. My gd test came back negative last week but going to be monitored and likely to need a weeks blood monitoring if he’s still big for weeks at next scan on the 14th to see if I do in fact have GD

CateyA · 31/01/2020 15:14

Also meant to ask has anyone had third trimester nausea? Mines come back and I was sick a few mornings ago 🤢

Pip231018 · 31/01/2020 16:08

@CateyA I do feel a bit like 'why is everything happening at once?!' With the GD a week before and the low amniotic fluid. The funny thing is, the GD can make you produce too much fluid. So I have two conflicting conditions. I am at the hospital twice in one day next week, it can feel overwhelming because the care is good so it lets you know that you're in a situation that requires additional support. My growth scans have been brought forward too, she is only small (but normal) and one of the risks is that she can squash her cord which can lead to low birth weight or worse. I'm grateful though. The NHS are incredible.

I was only sick once in my first trimester but I've been waking up in the middle of the night feeling so sick. It's eased a bit now.

Hope you feel better. X

Serendipity001 · 01/02/2020 19:38

@CateyA

I've been sick a few times once was after a car journey i ran to the bathroom and I was sick last night about an hour after I ate. I didn't even eat much but I felt bloated afterwards. I think it's heartburn but I'm not sure I'm going to mention it to my midwife at my next appointment.

Anyone else getting really restless at night? I keep tossing and turning and can't get comfortable to sleep 🙁

CateyA · 01/02/2020 20:26

I’m sleeping on the sofa as it’s the only place I’m comfy. I kinda wedge myself in with cushions which helps to get comfy.
I seem to be waking up in the middle of the night and stay awake for an hour or so though.
